Excellent Mexican restaurant! Large selection of dishes. They do not cook for long and are very tasty. Quality service. Everything is clean and tidy. Nice portions. Excellent quality and reasonable price. Everything is fine here !!!

I only stopped by this location because I thought they were selling homemade gelato that a couple let me try a sample of outside my hotel. The couple pointed me to the restaurant and I was too scared to tell anyone inside that I was confused…so I just went with the flow and thank goodness I did. Amazing food and great prices!

The quality of food was incredible. The attention. from the waiting staff unreal. The artistic presentations were as works of art. All of this in a quite environment. They have valet parking which we will use the next time. Now if you think that all of this comes at a price you would be right. However we felt that a 25% tip was worth it. You just have your wallet ready for a special treat worth every peso. My wife is professional culinary chef and my sister in law's manages a another fine restaurant in Mexico City for more than 150 years. It takes a lot to impress these ladies. This is a must for the foreign tourist or local wishing to enjoy the better things of life

A perfect breakfast with enchiladas de pescado. The presentation on the plate was gorgeous and it tasted amazing. The restaurant has a nice classy vibe. I would recommend to wear proper clothes for this one. Prices were reasonable for a foreigner. It is a nice spot to invite your clients for breakfast.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent service. I ordered a chicken entree with portobello mushrooms that I found to be underwhelming. However, my partner's poblano chili stuffed with goat cheese and walnuts was fantastic. Cheesecake dessert was very good.

If you are considering this restaurant and have read the negative reviews, I regret they are quite accurate. It’s a pretty place in a good location with a lot of pleasant staff standing about. The trick with the expensive slice of tomato and water is true. If you try to order a reasonable wine, they don’t have it. A beer was almost $140. The food was the least good I ate during my entire stay in the country but the bill was by far the highest. Skip this place and keep looking.

Amazing food and great choice of wine if you take a bottle. Prices are decent for the quality of what is served.

Excellent breakfast and service. Came for Sunday brunch. There was a mariachi band! The best chocolate de aqua I’ve had in my life (and I’ve had many from all parts of Mexico). Prices are reasonable as well.

The food was sub par and the Chile was this odd creation that was hard and baked like a Shepard a pie. My family got this cheap steak that was advertised as something else. I literally threw up later that night because my stomach did not agree with the food. The most important thing was that the staff overcharged us for stuff they said was “complimentary” this is not a nice place to have dinner at I should have gone to eat street food or stayed at my hotel. They also wouldn’t give us prices till the end.

Mercaderes is a fantastic restaurant. I went for breakfast, and their chilaquiles were fantastic. The omelets were quite nice as well. To drink, their hot chocolate is fantastic. Service was prompt and wait staff were friendly. I'd definitely come again!

My favorite meal in Mexico City. First of all, the roll that came with my dinner will be something that I dream about until my return to this fabulous city. The ensalada was packed with delicate flavors and wonderful textures. My main course of salmon and sweet potatoes was absolutely devine. The price was very reasonable also. Highly recommended!

Excellent service and quality food. We ordered our food, but we're also delivered the most divine fresh bread loaf with hummus, butter, and chilli-salsa condiments. We were expertly waited on. Our main meals were presented beautifully. A bag holder was available at our table - so much more civilised that at one's feet! We would definitely return.

We dined early this evening to avoid the busy time and Mercaderes was near our hotel. My companions were mostly pleased with their meals, but my steak filet and mashed potatoes were not acceptable. My steak was ordered medium, but it was well done and both the steak and mashed potatoes were cold. My dish was reheated, which meant my filet was dry and over done. No apologies were given. When we asked about dessert we were told that we couldn’t have dessert, we were too late. It was 7:00 pm and others near us were served dessert. We were not given an explanation. It was a frustrating dining experience. The restaurante had some unique features like the bread and roasted tomato, but we will not be recommending Mercaderes to others.

Staff was really sweet and welcoming. The portions were a good size for the price and the food was delicious. Servers were sweet and we had an amazing time. This was our favorite restaurant experience in Mexico City.

Although this looks like a fine dining restaurant it is not. We did not have a good experience. Firstly we had to ask for napkins when our salads arrived. The spinach in our salads was very tough and 2 pieces of pear had rotten core. I had my fork in my hand and our server asked if I was finished so he could clear my salad plate. Our main courses were barely warm and portions are small. We were given a roll of hot bread that we did not order and then we were charged for it. Staff rushing around is not condusive to a nice meal and a woman was sweeping while we ate. The cheapest bottle of wine on hand is 700 pesos, all other less costly bottled are unavailable. The wine server did come up with 2 glasses of wine which we enjoyed. Then we asked for our bill multiple times and it did not come until we stood up and appeared annoyed. Bad ending to a 5 day very enjoyable stay in Mexico City.

Delicious Mexican upscale food in a great location. The mole was incredible.

Amazing tuna tostado and shrimp taco, but the fish mains were overpowering and excessively saucy. Service was very good though. Pricey place in mexico city, but certainly worth trying out if you want quality Mexican dining.

The food and dining experience was excellent. My party of five really enjoyed the excellent food and drinks. They made a limeade for my kids and a fidello soup. The adults enjoyed a tamarind margarita which was loaded with tequila, I had two. 👍🏽. The husband and father in law had tequila served in champagne flutes with an assortment of "tequila written salt", limes and oranges. The soups in themselves are a meal. Pictured is the crema de elote and carnitas tacos. We would return again. For COVID precautions they range your temperature and ask you to use hand sanitizer. The children highchairs were awesome. We would return again as it was very close to El Zócalo. The downside was our Uber ride home couldn't pick us up in front of the restaurant.

There is so much to say about this restaurant. First of all, the service is absolutely the best I’ve received, (better than El Cardenal and Azul Histórico) the food it’s just delicious one of the best I’ve had during my stays in CDMX, our waiter Juan and the manager just went above and beyond to provide the best service possible. This has definitely become my most favorite restaurant. Excellent.

We came here for the good reviews. We often go to restaurants in Cdmx and we were greatly disappointed. It took 40 min to even get the special of the day. Over cooked meat and over sweetened orange juice. We have a try to the corn cake since we love this dessert. IT WAS SO BAD WE HAD TO RETURN IT. Recommend for the coffee that’s all.

Came here for the good reviews, but I left disappointed. The place has a nice decoration blending with the environment in the area. Perhaps in its time was a good place to eat. It has some interesting dishes but the execution, at least today, was poorly executed. Perhaps if you go plain and simple is better, but it does not justify the price tag.

My wife and I had a great fine dining experience here. The atmosphere was great and the food divine. The service was also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I don't have enough words to describe my experience here. Go for the escamoles dish. It is the best egg breakfast i have ever had!!!

We enjoyed a really great brunch at Mercaderes. As soon as you sit down, they offer you sweet bread pastries that were all made fresh. Ours were still warm. Even though they were just bread, they were so freaking good! Then they brought coffee and fresh juices. All the eggs are organic and the jam is made there fresh too. The service was impeccable. For our meal, we ordered the cochinita enchiladas and the chilaquiles. Both were better than the fancier restaurants we ate at just a day earlier. The star of the brunch was the fresh concha’s. I will be thinking about them and dreaming of coming back one day.

My steak was disgusting. It looks so gross I think I thought perhaps that it was raccoon innards. I would definitely not eat there again food was salty I actually wrapped up the meat so that I can feed it to some poor dog that I saw on the street but I would say this restaurant is only good for dogs and The taste was horrible it was so salty it was just really terrible terrible food it looks so disgusting. Also the enchiladas really? Everything was terrible there and I asked her some ice cuz I had a water in my hand and the ice was dirty. That food was really terrible. They also did not give me the lunch menu cuz they wanted me to primer if they're horrible disgusting barfy food.

Excellent service. Ask for the Cava first and I liked the fish dinner

Highly rated restaurant that certainly upholds its reputation. Expect excellent white linen service from the staff. Every dish was delicious and full of flavor, uniquely it’s own. The house bread was absolutely delicious and the best I’ve had in Mexico. They can certainly make a stiff cocktail or margarita. I visited during lunch and it was perfect. I would expect dinner service to also be as good. A must try in the historic zocalo district.

The food was delicious, unfortunately the service was terrible. We were rushed to order (an hour before they closed) but other people were allowed to order after they closed. They forgot 2 drinks that we ordered, they didn't bring them near the end of the meal. One dish was brought very late. My parents recommended this restaurant because they love it. But now they are having second thoughts about the service.

Extraordinary Mexican restaurant, centered in the heart of downtown. Wonderful sommelier with a huge Mexican wine labels, some of them exclusive. The food is nice and well served great presentation and interesting flavors. The coffee you have to ask for the gourmet one that is served on the table.

We decided to find a nice restaurant for our second last night in Mexico City. We rely strongly on Google reviews when travelling to foreign countries and found that this restaurant had many excellent reviews. Unfortunately our experience was not as expected. This restaurant really is a bit of a tourist trap. They did not have some of the wines on the menu, food was average and prices were high. They also decided to add 10% to the bill for a service fee which we were not informed about at any stage prior to receiving the bill. If it was to our discretion, we would not have paid an extra 10% for service that was substandard.
