A pretty cool museum with a collection of the world's cultures. I was hoping to see more of Mexico's history but CDMX is a global city and it's own people are probably curious about other cultures. It was also free so definitely worth a visit.

I don't understand how this museum gets a 4.7. The vast majority if not *entirety* of what's on the ground floor and first floor are replicas, in what would be a good tour of world cultures for school children, but of zero interest whatsoever for anyone that has ever, in their entire life, been outside of Mexico to any of the cultures shown. Everything is *fine* but it's all replicas, also only in Spanish. There are a few temporary exhibits throughout (including all of the top floor) which were better as they had real objects, but even there they were mostly "okay" in terms of curation. If you are a Mexican schoolchild on a trip: great museum to introduce you to global cultures. If you are a tourist from outside Mexico: skip.

A hidden gem in the middle of Moneda street, an old building converted into a museum. A wide range of exhibitions of all the different cultures around the world. It's free on Sunday, but also means it's crowded as well.

Really excellent free museum. Currently with exhibitions from Japan, Korea, China, Iran and Egypt. There's also an interesting display about border walls and perspectives from both sides.

A very cool museum that I found out about at the last minute It has several pieces from many different countries and cultures. It's actually great and was surprised how empty I was when I went. Hopefully, it was an odd day because it deserves to be recognized

Free culture museum in the national palace complex! The exhibits are fairly well done, and walking through the massive complex that houses them is worth a quick stop. However, I couldn’t give a full 5 stars because almost everything in the ancient world exhibits are reconstructions. That makes sense because the originals are too valuable to leave their permanent home for Mexico City, but it does take away from the impression.

A hodgepodge of artifacts covering international art exhibitions and natural history. All presented with Spanish information. It’s all free; the building itself is a beautiful example of old city colonial architecture.

(Translated by Google) Inaugurated as a National Museum in 1865 by Maximilian of Habsburg in the Old Mint, the current National Museum of Cultures offers a chronological and material tour of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, etc. The old building that housed the Sala de Monolitos is a highly recommended place to visit in the Historic Center of CDMX. It is a great place to see, but the only problem I had was that there are duplicates and if you are looking for original artifacts you cannot find any special thing in here. But still a great place if somebody wants to have a “general” knowledge of history and human civilization.

Located in centro Histórico and not far from Palacio de Bellas Artes. Great paintings and well organized during covid. I recommend visiting it to get an insight into the Mexican artistic scene.

Among the best museums visited, globally. Exhibits showcasing different cultures from around the world, and through different time periods, all in the same building. Being able to see all of this, especially for free , makes this an unmatched museum experience.

El Cino is a good place for tacos de carne asada, adobada, carnitas, etc. The place is very nice, with good parking, well located over Palm avenue near I-5. I have been there twice, and both experiences were good. The waiting time for your food is acceptable, but this place is not a fast food restaurant. The waiting is worth it. The prices are Ok, and the food is good.

Somewhere in between Japan and Korea I totally missed China, and North America including the indigenous first people (perhaps it isn't supposed to be comprehensive)- but what I did see was good, though it did include glorified K-pop.

History of Mexico can be found in there thru large drawings in the wall. Great experience.

  • 3/5 Viktor R. 4 years ago on Google
Housed in a building that's architecturally quite interesting, and the collection itself is a good way to get a general overview of cultures around the world. My main beef with the place is that it's hard to tell which pieces are genuine and which are replicas, and all signs and explanations were in Spanish (fair enough, maybe I should learn). Entry is free on Sundays (otherwise Mx$14), so you can use the facilities if nothing else. Worth a walk around though, you'll definitely see something interesting, but don't expect Templo Mayor standards. NOT wheelchair or old-folk friendly though, there are a lot of stairs.

(Translated by Google) It is a very beautiful museum, it is my favorite because you can see things about other cultures, they include Asian cultures a lot and I think it is important since they always tell us about the United States and Europe, you can see many good things here and there are always constantly updating the exhibitions, I have been more than 3 times and whenever I go there is a different exhibition, that was one of my favorite exhibitions, yes, sometimes some exhibitions I think deserve to stay longer, but they always give at least half a year to each temporary exhibition (Original) Es un museo muy bonito, es mi favorito porque puedes ver cosas acerca de otras culturas, incluyen mucho a las culturas asiáticas y creo que es importante ya que siempre nos hablan de Estados unidos y Europa, puedes ver muchas cosas buenas aquí y siempre se están actualizando constantemente las exhibiciones, he ido más de 3 veces y siempre que voy hay alguna exhibición diferente, esa fue una de mis exhibiciones favoritas, eso sí, a veces algunas exhibiciones creo que merecen quedarse más tiempo, pero igual siempre dan al menos medio año a cada exhibición temporal

(Translated by Google) Next to the National Palace, this museum is a very good option to start bringing children to more "serious" museums. It has many pieces on display from several important cultures, such as Greek, Egyptian, Japanese, Korean, etc. The "but" that I find is that it is only reproductions (except for very few exceptions) and that decreases the quality of the pieces and, therefore, the experience. Still, they are very enjoyable. I loved the information provided for each piece and they even mention in which museum of the world the originals are. The museum is very small and in just over an hour you can travel almost everything. It has several rooms that cover more varied and current themes (homage to death in several countries, temporary artistic exhibitions, workshops, etc.) My daughters liked it a lot and we plan to return for some activity.

It is a large house that has several connected rooms and it is very enjoyable, in my case I was seeing commemorative sculptures of skulls, something very typical here in Mexico. It is worth taking a stroll. (Original) Si estás por el centro, y estás cerca de este lugar, date una vuelta dado que no es muy grande pero la exposición es buena. Each room takes you through cultures of the world that are very interesting for the visitor and also brings us aspects such as art, language, clothing as well as the history of each of the different cultures and regions that are presented here. Special and beautiful the collections of Japan, Persia and the Mediterranean. You should not stop visiting it and hopefully join one of its workshops and group activities. Especial y hermosas las colecciones de Japón, Persía y el mediterráneo. No debes dejar de visitarlo y con suerte integrarte a alguno de sus talleres y actividades grupales.
