I wish I could award even more stars to this stunning museum! To be honest, I was expecting to walk through and have seen what I wished to see in 15-30 minutes. As it was, we spent almost two hours in this remarkable museum. The building itself is remarkable for its clean, yet somehow innovative design which renders its exhibits all the more interesting. As to the exhibits? I believe pictures are worth thousands of words, yet the minimalist bit informative informational plaques were also well worth perusing. A real fine. I’m surprised the overall rating is t closer to the perfect five ⭐️ stars I have awarded it.

This is one of our favorite museums in Mexico City. We are both over 60, so it’s free. Wonderful view of Mexican folk art and culture. Most works are true works of art. And it’s fun!

I had no idea this museum existed until today. So glad I discovered it on my last day in the city. Absolutely loved it. Well organised. Well light. Good description of the pieces. The order in which you should visit the rooms is well explained. There was nothing wrong here. A great museum. Amazing art.

Didn't plan on coming here... but I was walking by and saw the eye-catching colours in the foyer. On a whim, I decided to check it out. It was so much better than I expected!!! Entry is cheap, free bag check, and not very many people. The art is all exceptional and the lighting/environment is perfect to showcase each piece. A great journey through Mexican history and culture via folk art. It took me just over 1 hour on my own, but definitely could spend more time if you really want to take everything in. Also, a very kind employee told me to keep my hoodie with me and I am glad they did because it is chilly inside. :)

This is a nice museum to see in Mexico City. This is popular art. So you have to visit it with an open mind. The place is on three floors. You can take elevators or climb stairs. Elevator offer a nice view from inside the building, who have a great architecture. You will see beautiful pieces of art there.

(Translated by Google) Excellent cultural space in the middle of a city as special as the municipality of Chimalhuacán. Fortunately well maintained, but without a doubt the height of the place offers a wonderful view which explains a lot the location of the place. The second jewel of the place is its museum, small but full of extreme curiosities and highly recommended information.

Spread over four floors there is so much to see at Museo de Arte Popular. Exhibition galleries are themed around topics such as the divine and the everyday. Very good curation. For non-Spanish speakers be away didactics and information is not also displayed in English so have the Google Translate app ready. Also, you will have to cloak larger bags. It was also great to see it so busy, with lots of locals and tourists enjoying the experience.

(Translated by Google) In my opinion it is a place rich in history and culture ✨ I think that the potential of the place should be exploited more, I am talking about expanding the museum, incorporating guides, promoting events. However it is a very quiet and spacious place to enjoy the atmosphere and history.

Probably my favorite museum during my visit to CDMX. You’re directed up to the top floor to start your tour of the various rooms. The museum’s building is also impressive with a glass dome ceiling. The gift shop is quite large with a lot of nice things. Some of the items can be found at the mercados (probably for cheaper), but if you’re limited on time, it’s a good spot to pick up some tasteful gifts.

Very artistic and nice museum. Entry fee is 60$ per person. You'll need about 2 hours here. The only thing I would add: more explanations in English and honestly a better translator; a lot of texts were faulty.

Went to this gorgeous museum as part of an AirBnB Embroidery Experience and was blown away by how colorful and well thought out the exhibits were. If you're interested in knowing all about the incredible diversity that exists within México, definitely check this museum out! Fun fact! The building used to be a firehouse 👨‍🚒

(Translated by Google) A precursor to MAM is the National Museum of Plastic Arts created in 1947 by Carlos Chávez. This first museum was located inside the Palace of Fine Arts. However, it was a modest and provisional enclosure, with a museological conception that considered modern art only as a chapter within a broader curatorial script that covered the history of Mexican art since pre-Hispanic times. Shortly thereafter, in 1953, Carmen Barreda, then director of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana and who would later become the first director of the MAM (1964 to 1972), founded a board of trustees with the intention of building an enclosure intended to preserve, study and spread modern art; This project took more than ten years to complete.

This museum is really for people who fascinate Mexican folk art, since there are pieces from all corners of the Mexican Republic to delight your pupils if you have not had the opportunity to visit those magical places. It is highly recommended that you stop by to play a role if you walk through the historic center of Mexico City. An incredible collection of pop art from all over Mexico. Admission is free on Sundays, and the docents are very kind. The bathrooms are big and well-kept, too. Plan to spend at least 2 hours there, starting on the third floor and working your way down for the best experience.

They don’t accept cards, only cash, only two floors of exhibition plus we had chance to see special pinata exhibition for Dia de Muertos. Nice shop with souvenirs! Musem was closed for Dia de Muertos even tho there was 3 mil tourists in the city and all restaurants and shops was open in the city.

Outstanding museum. A hidden gem. You must visit. If you like culture you will need a while to be able to see everything and admire it. Wonderful place. This time a year they have a piñata contest that will be done on the first Saturday of november. The piñatas are amazing and all the expositions inside the museums are really a must see. Amazing place!!!

A really fun museum to walk through, with plenty of different styles of art to look at. You'll need to check your backpacks, but it's free and easy to do so. The gift shop is expansive and definitely worth looking through - some of the stuff in there is as artful as the items on display. I think this museum could even hold the attention of children if you moved quickly enough.

(Translated by Google) In my opinion it is the best museum that you can visit in CDMX. An overview of folk arts and crafts from around the country. The Art Deco architecture is impressive on the outside and inside !! In the central courtyard there is a permanent explosion of piñatas that is wonderful. Of all kinds: traditional, modern, creative, etc. The tour of the rooms is very complete: from pre-Hispanic crafts to typical costumes for men and women from all states, through clay, copper, fabrics, etc. The room dedicated to the Day of the Dead and the different crafts that represent it is my favorite: papier-mâché, embroidery, etc ... In the store there are also very interesting things. It is well worth spending a few hours in this museum.

This is such a good museum!!! I love Mexican art and it's great to see a gallery of traditional art because they aren't generally considered to be part of the fine arts but that doesn't make them lesser!!!! It's a great insight into the real Mexican art and the lives of Mexican artists. I especially loved that they had the big alebrije sculptures that had been displayed around the city for day of the dead.

Was a great museum. I was able to read so much history about art from all over Mexico. There were areas about the history of Mexican clothing, religion, paintings, artifacts, and more. It was $60 pesos to go in. I believe it's free on Sundays but they have a donation box on the side. They don't allow backpacks so I had to check mine in. It took me around 2 hours to go through everything. But I read everything haha
