This is a great class in a great location. I’d recommend this cooking class to anyone, and suggest you take it early in your trip. Theresa was a great guide and host and was very informative about Spanish culture, and the rest of the travelers in the group ere great as well. What I learned during the class enriched the rest of my trip. I’m looking forward to taking on all of my future trips.

My daughter and I enjoyed a really fun afternoon on the cooking class provided by Just Royal Bcn. The class was not overcrowded (just 8 of us) and the we were all encouraged to participate in cooking the ingredients that were provided fresh from the market that we had just visited together. Of course there was classic paella recipe but we also making a mix of different Tapas which was washed down with liberal amounts of fine wine. Fun was had by all. I can thoroughly recommend this cooking class to anyone who wants to better understand Spanish cooking, the local people and the local market of Barcelona.

Highly recommended We had a great time and enjoyed the food. The demonstration and handson experience was fun and enjoyable. We thought it was good value for money, with tapas, drink and a lovely meal. We met people from all over the world and shared great holiday stories. Certainly would recommend this as when in Barcelona.

What a perfect experience!! From the first moment to the last, every detail was addressed .Starting in the huge market was so much fun !! Cooking with best teacher ever was a joy. Our small class size was perfect. Sit down meal with wine made the day complete. I have taken many cooking classes all over the world. This is by far the best one.

We enjoyed our cooking class a great deal. The locations seems hidden but a very nice spot once you are in the flat! Instructor was well organized and great English. Very interesting to learn food cooking styles and history of the dish as you prepare. We will do it again!

What can be better than spending time with friends cooking a scrumptious meal filled with savories and wine. Our group of 11 had the most exciting time as Teresa gave us a tour of the market, highlighting the special Catalan delights followed by a charming stroll through Barcelona street-side shops. We cooked in the dreamiest dining suite with wispy curtains begging us all to look over into the open courtyard. Wine, lip smacking appetizers, and a yummy dinner with more wine and oh, save room for dessert. Enjoy the tours but you MUST reserve time to fellowship together with this uniquely epic experience. Two snaps up!

Took an afternoon class this summer with my 15 yr old niece. It was wonderful. Good wine, delicious food, colorful company, and a valuable education in Spanish cuisine. I would highly recommend it!

This cooking venue was an unexpected pleasure. The atmosphere (and the wine) was great as was our hostess. And the food was totally enjoyable and very eatable. We had a great time preparing the various dishes and learning about the history of Spanish cooking. And bye the way, the price was well worth it. What a nice break from the usual tourist programs.

My daughters and I really enjoyed this class. We especially loved visiting the market beforehand and seeing all of the beautiful food. Our instructor was very friendly and helpful, and it was nice to escape the big crowds in Barcelona and learn how to make some traditional Spanish dishes.

My Australian friend booked this. I love food and am a good cook. This session was with Mariangela who runs them in a beautiful apartment in the centre. We were 10 - each with our cooking mats around a large kitchen bench. Mariangela showed us how to cook real paella and crema catalana. It was quite involved but the result was delicious. We then all ate on the lovely dinner table. We were a mix of older retired Americans and younger couples and friends. Mariangela is a lovely person and great cook.

The experience was fantastic, Mariángeles Frades & her sidekick were amazing - she is an experienced chef and gave us a great insight into Spanish cooking and culture! It was a step by step class! The market tour was interesting and fun! Great wine and food! Left full and made new friends! As well as receips! Highly recommend! Tip the staircase to the cooking class floor can be a bit creepy but once upstairs all good - travelling alone you are a little more cautious! On a whole highly recommend! ?

Wonderful cooking class!! The tour of the market was super fun and I learned things about ham I never knew before! Then we came back to the space to eat the prepared tapas and drink wine and COOK! and you do! you learn how to make four or so dishes. It was super fun and the space is just gorgeous! The chefs helping us were very friendly and very helpful.Received recipes for the food via email after so I could make dinner for my in-laws. it was an all around wonderful experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

This was such a great experience! I did this my very first day in Barcelona and I am so glad I did. Not only did I enjoy a truly delicious meal, I learned a lot about Barcelona's culinary habits and history, which I was able to incorporate into the rest of my trip. The tapas were a great touch - normally cooking classes annoy me because I am starving, which makes it hard to focus on the information. By offering tapas (and their history) before we dove into making paella, I was better prepared to actually learn something. The space is beautiful, the experience was interesting, and the food was delicious.

My wife, daughter, and I attended a class on 25 April 2019. We enjoyed everything about it. Our instructor was very friendly, knowledgeable, and clear. The setting was intimate and elegant. The appetizers made beforehand were well chosen to represent different regions of Spain, and the items we prepared ourselves (seafood paella, tortilla, and custard) tasted delicious. Most impressive of all: when my daughter announced that she didn't care for seafood, the instructor went out of her way to provide her a recipe and instruction for an impromptu alternate dish.

Fantastic hand's-on cooking class! Made seven tapas, a seafood paella, and an orange flan (the flan was particularly exceptional.). And then we got to sit down and eat everything we had cooked. Wine was plentiful, and was perfect with (and before) the meal. Our instructor was well-trained, fluent in English, and personable. Took us on a tour of the market. She knew most of the vendors, and got us lots of information (and a few discounts). It was a wonderful experience!

Amazing experience! We had such a lovely time. My family and I filled up this class, so it was basically a private cooking class for us. Juan took us on a tour of La Boqueria Market, provided a delicious tasting of typical Barcelona and Catalan foods, and taught us to cook Tortilla, Catalan Cream, Pan con Tomate, and Paella. It was all fantastic fun, delicious food, and lovely wine. Thank you Juan and Just Royal BCN for a wonderful afternoon! I highly recommend Just Royal BCN!

We booked this cooking class a couple of weeks ago and it was the highlight of our trip to Spain honestly. It’s a Smalll Group in a well air-conditioned loft outside of a plaza. The food was amazing. The recipes were doable for normal people, and it was just a really fun night all around. This was the best thing we did on our trip.

My husband and I came to Barcelona for our honeymoon and we knew we HAD to take a cooking class, and our class with Greta was INCREDIBLE! The entire experience was magical. The thoughtful history lesson was so interesting, the market tour was captivating (especially all the tips and tricks Greta showed us), learning about the tapas that belong to the different regions was eye opening and making the paella was a next level experience that we will NEVER forget. All of the tips, tricks and culinary advise Greta shared with us will serve us so well in the years ahead. I had more cooking experience than my husband, and I still felt challenged, while Greta was patient and a great teacher with my husband who was less experienced all while making sure we had fun. We can wait to get back home and make all the recipes we learned in Barcelona for our friends and family. Do not hesitate if you are on the fence— it’s an unforgettable experience!

My family and I absolutely loved this cooking class! I really labored over picking a cooking class in Barcelona and I'm so glad I chose this one. The location of the class is great -- just getting inside one of the buildings on the plaza was fun (and there was AC) -- plus market tour was interesting and we really enjoyed the 10 tapas and history provided about each one before we started cooking. We also had 2 non seafood eaters in our group and our chef happily accommodated them with veggie paella. All the food we made was delicious and we left the class with a lot of friends. I highly recommend!

Class act start to finish. Lots of laughter and wine and some really good information at our visit to the market. Our instructor was a good host and enthusiastic instructor. He made sure that everyone in the class was given an opportunity to do some hands-on. Definitely a must do in Barcelona.

My mom and I had the best time w our chef Juan and his support Aurias. It was so amazing to have a quick walk thru of the Market La Boquería from chef prior to class- he gave us good information and insight to what to look for when we return on our own. The class itself was in a beautiful floor in The Plaza Real off Las Ramblas and Juan and Aurias made the class very inclusive, interactive and fun. You can tell he is very passionate about cooking and people! Def recommend!

I scheduled a private event for my team building activity in Barcelona. We did the Paella Class/Late Dinner. My team members have returned home and yet cease to talk about this event. We had a group of 22, only 19 were able to make it. Since we were late dinner we didn't get the chance to go to the market but it did not take away from the experience. I did have some issues trying to make payment, being that we were currently traveling throughout the EU and payment set off a chain of fraud alerts for my credit card, but that was my fault and not theirs. The evening was full of laughter, smiles and fun. This event will be hard to top. Since we were so large we had three chefs taking care of our group as well as their mother I believe. Tapas were provided along with unlimited beer and wine. We made sangria, seafood and vegetable paella as well as creme brulee! We sat together family style to enjoy the labor of our own hands and hearts. This is truly an experience, the staff lead with love for their country, history and cuisine!

This was the BEST experience! I wanted to do something unique for my anniversary and this class and market tour was perfect. Out of our two week trip to Europe, this was probably our favorite experience. Horya was the best host. He told us which market stalls he preferred, fed us AMAZING tapas, showed us how to cook the most delicious dinner and dessert,, and fostered an environment that allowed us to chat with other guests and make friends. I could not recommend this class any more enthusiastically. You won’t regret it!

  • 5/5 Tevis P. 1 year ago on Google
Seafood paella, tapas and lots of laughs. Loved this cooking class. Ended up being just three of us, but that made it more intimate and hands on for us. The tour of the market was the only low point because we went to the touristy one, not the other where locals still shop. Otherwise, both the chef and his assistant (mostly for translation at times) were amazing. We had lots of laughs, shared stories, and learned both about tapas and cooked seafood paella, a potato omelette, and a creme brulee like dessert. Definitely recommend.

The cooking class was perfect for our family. They helped our 8 year and 6 year old get involved in cooking and our kids enjoyed making traditional Spanish food, as well as pizza. Our kids loved it and we loved it. Now we have recipes to recreate our time in Spain.

Our cooking class with Just Royal BCN was not just the highlight of our time in Barcelona, but the most memorable part of our entire trip through Spain! Not only did we get to make and eat delicious food, there was so much fun and laughter and our group stayed for an hour after the class ended just drinking and talking. My husband and I had a wonderful afternoon at Just Royal BCN. The place was amazing and so chef Alfredo. We were a lovely group and were cooking together for about 2 hours. Chef Alfredo kept us busy, divided the work between all participants, shared great tips and created with us a delicious 3 course meal which we enjoyed afterwards together. We really enjoyed this experience and are looking already which cooking class to do next at Just Royal

I had a lovely cooking experience with Gretle. She was a warm and gracious host. The lovely apartment over looking Placa Reial was the perfect setting. The cooking space was well appointed and easy to work in. Our experience was like being in a friend’s house for an evening of wine tasting, cooking, eating and fun. We cooked and Lear Ed about dishes from many parts of Spain. The trip to the market was very informative. Would recommend this to singles, couples and family’s with older children.

  • 5/5 Mary S. 4 years ago on Google
Great experience and very interactive. Another couple, my husband, and myself prepared paella, tortilla espanola, and catalan cream under the watchful eye of our teacher. Then we sat down at a lovely table and enjoyed the dinner that we prepared. It seemed a little rushed at the end as I think that there was a very large party coming in after us, and I don't think the staff had expected the numbers. The trip to La Boqueria, the local market, before the lesson was fun. Overall, a very good experience.

Myself and my wife took a cooking class with Just Royal in October, and it was amazing. It was really great to walk through the market before the class and learn everything about how the food and ingredients are hand picked every day. And the class itself was fantastic. Not only did we learn how to cook each dish, but we also learned about history of the dish, the importance of the ingredients, and what those dishes meant to the Spanish people. It was all around an awesome experience, and we would recommend this to everyone who is interested.

This was hands down the best organized activity I’ve ever experienced. Both chefs/hosts were kind, patient, funny, and gave the perfect amount of history, instruction, and detail on each dish. There was great conversation between hosts and guests. The food was delicious, the wine was fantastic, and we left feeling full, happy, and prepared to take home what we learned and recreate each recipe for ourselves. If you’re looking for an authentic tour/cooking experience without the usual touristy/gimmick feel, I highly recommended booking with Just Royal BCN.

WOW!!!!! What an awesome experience, fun fun fun!!. First and foremost - kudos to our amazing instructor, Chef Janelle. She was extremely professional, knowledgable, courteous and friendly. Chef Janelle provided us with a personal guided tour of the nearby market, history and origins of Paella and Tapas, thoroughly explained each and every ingredient of the recipes, techniques for food prep and answered all participant's questions. We very much enjoyed participating in the "Paella de Mariscos" cooking class and also meeting our awesome classmates from: Australia, Chicago USA, Florida USA, and New Jersey USA. Additional kudos to Just Royal BCN, directions to cooking class were spot on. Oh yeah... the wine was pretty awesome too!!

This is the best time! I am not much of a cook, but my friends wanted to do this class and had read good reviews so we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! Alfredo, the chef, was awesome. He made the class fun and the food was good. The other participants were super fun too. We laughed so much and had a wonderful time making paella, tortilla española and crema catalana. Alfredo made some lovely tapas and took us on a culinary tour of Spain with them. His explanations of the different areas was really interesting. Anyway, it was a highlight of being in Barcelona and I highly recommend it!
