Going
back
to
what
Amber
said,
the
owner/manager
had
complete
control
of
what
songs
we
could
sing
during
“PartyYoke”
as
a
group
of
7
of
us,
we
were
denied
singing
every
song
we
requested,
all
but
2
songs.
We
were
told
(by
the
DJ)
that
we
could
NOT
sing
any
rap,
Reggaeton,
reggae,
R&B
and
hip-hop,
and
that
we
can
only
sing
upbeat
songs
(NO
SLOW
SONGS).
The
DJ
specifically
told
us
we
could
not
sing
ANY
John
Legend,
ESCAPE,
SWV,
DRAKE,
but
we
can
rap
to
biggie
and
some
2Pac.
So
the
rules
are
already
out
of
order.
To
give
examples
of
the
denied
songs
we
requested:
Tevin
Campbell
-
can
we
talk…
upbeat
Michael
Jackson
-
P.Y.T….
Upbeat
Songs
“OTHERS”
sang
that
was
approved:
Ne-Yo
-
So
Sick….
Slow
song
Jace
Everett
-
Bad
Things….
Slow
song
Some
song
by
John
Legend…
slow
song,
and
so
on
and
so
on.
The
problem
I
have
is
that
when
we
tried
to
address
our
experience
with
management/owner
he
immediately
got
offensive
when
we
said
the
word
“cultural”
and
implied
that
we
were
calling
him
racist.He
Said
to
us
“I
am
not
a
black
man”.
Sir,
we
know
you’re
not
black,
but
what
we
were
simply
saying
we
felt
isolated,
secluded,
and
ostracized
during
our
time
at
this
establishment.
He
refused
to
listen
to
what
we
were
saying
because
he
continuously
kept
cutting
everyone
off
so
he
could
get
his
point
across.
He
even
tried
to
blame
us
for
not
knowing
an
undocumented
policy
about
coming
to
him
for
song
approvals,
as
if
we
have
been
here
before.
He
was
so
easily
offended
and
not
open
to
hearing
feedback.
And
reading
the
responses
to
the
reviews
people
have
left
about
their
unfortunate
experience
at
this
establishment
only
lets
me
know
that
the
owner
does
not
care
about
how
you
feel.
Like,
how
could
you
tell
someone
not
to
come
back
to
your
establishment
after
they
told
you
they
had
a
bad
experience
with
the
services
YOU
provided?
Don’t
worry
about
telling
me
not
to
come
back.
Unacceptable!
It
wasn’t
just
us
either.
There
were
a
group
of
ladies
who
kept
getting
all
of
their
songs
denied,
got
upset
and
left.
I
just
find
it
funny
that
most
of
the
reviews
that
are
shared
and
the
experience
was
bad
just
so
happened
to
be
shared
by
people
of
color.
Everyone
can’t
be
lying!
Definitely
practicing
bad
business!
The
owner
said
he’s
not
racist,
well
let’s
talk
about
it
since
HE
brought
it
up.
Even
if
you
are
not
racist,
you
definitely
have
some
type
of
cultural
insensitivity
going
on
to
where
you
are
not
willing
to
sit
down
and
just
LISTEN
to
what
paying
customers
have
to
say.
Growth
is
definitely
a
necessity
for
this
establishment.
Also
the
sangria
flights
were
not
good,
the
food
wasn’t
good,
hookah
was
$50
and
was
not
good,
and
to
top
it
all
they
CHARGED
A
20%
SERVICE
CHARGE
EVERY
TIME
WE
SWIPED
OUR
CARDS….
without
notice!
