Such a lucky find; WOW! Thank you, Barrel House Social! When we discovered our normal go-to restaurant in La Grange had significantly changed up its menu, we checked out Barrel House Social's menu and decided to give it a try. We could not have asked for a better experience! They were able to seat us very quickly - even before our reservation time - and everyone was friendly and accommodating. Our server, Regina, made a lot of great menu suggestions since we were newbies and we all LOVED our entrees. Smoked Bacon Dip with grilled sourdough - FYI we did pay an additional $3 for extra sourdough because it was delicious - Short Rib Pasta, two Classic Cheeseburgers - one with upgraded mac & cheese side (look at that amazing little crock!) - and Whiskey Glazed Salmon with brussel sprouts instead of mashed potatoes (no additional charge for the swap). Black Slate Red Blend wine, Dovetail Vienna Lager, the My Tie's A Clip-On mocktail, and Coke were our beverages of choice. If you haven't tried this newer restaurant yet, be sure to make a stop! Our family had a great time and looks forward to returning again soon.

My overall experience at Barrel House has been great in the past. My recent experience was a disappointment. The ambient is pleasant; it’s clean and upbeat, the staff is usually great. My most recent experience was bad and insulting. Upon arrival; I was greeted and waited on. As my waitress took my order of whiskey; she proceeded to ask regarding the pour size; 1 ounce or 2 ounces to which I replied to requesting a neat one ounce pour. Upon closing my check; I was up charged for two ounces for each drink. When I asked, why I was being up charged; I was advised that a neat drink is poured as a two ounce pour. The manager was brought on to my table whom I asked why the up charge. Johnny the manager on duty; proceeded to google on his phone what a neat pour is and showed me. Regardless of what the internet may state what is a neat drink. If the customer asks for a one ounce pour; do not change it unless you notify them. It’s similar to changing their food order; you do not undermine what they request under no circumstances. This is the point of asking the customer what they want. If you must change the order; notify them and seek their approval. I found the manager’s attitude insulting; he was not apologetic, not even for the misunderstanding, he was focused on proving me wrong. Had I been witty; I would have asked him to Google what is a one ounce pour. I advised the manager that in their vicinity; restaurants such as Steak and Vine charge you for a neat one ounce drink as.a single one ounce pour. 05/15- In response to the Barrel House’s staff’s reply. When my request was taken; I specified the size, this should of set the expectation. I don’t have an issue with the pour size change if I am notified that my order will be changed. This is no different than requesting a dish and the order being changed at the restaurant’s discretion without notifying the customer. My point: If you are going to ask the customer what they want do not change in what may result in either an increased cost or not meeting the expectations; this is customer service. When I spoke the waitress on the issue; she was apologetic and called the manager for their support. The manager was unapologetic; a discount was offered for one drink and I accepted it. This does not mean my bad experience suddenly was good. Would I recommend this place as a restaurant? Sure but there are other establishments within a short walk that offer a great customer service.

Let me start by saying Fantastic, and love at first taste. This old fashion was outstanding and one of the best in the city. Everybody was ordering one as I looked around the restaurant, so I jumped on board. Garnished with Cherry and orange and made with a touch of vanilla. This drink was close to perfection, pictures don't do it justice. Get over here ASAP. A couple pictures of the food we ordered too.

Really cool place, great food. I could see hanging out here with friends for a bit eating and drinking. Super nice, friendly staff and gluten-free knowledge and options! I'll definitely be back!

Barrel House Social offers flavorful dishes served by friendly staff, with extra tasteful events added in throughout the year, such as Lobster Fest and Tiki Takeover. This is a good place to come when you're hankering for a big meat, potato, and vegetable meal for a family dinner; craving a selection of bar appetizers to share with your partner at happy hour; or even just wanting to have a few drinks with friends later in the evening on their cozy, fully enclosed back patio! Add in both, their weekly trivia and music bingo night, and BHS is definitely your neighborhood hangout! FOOD: Most of the items I have had from their regular food menu were packed with flavor, from the whiskey glazed salmon to the mussels with a touch of spice. The appetizer dips are perfect during group chats or trivia nights. And, the shrimp bowl with avocado and quinoa seemed such an unlikely find here, so be sure to read through descriptions on the whole menu, even in sections you might think aren't for you! SPECIAL EVENTS: All of their event menus for Lobster Fest, Tiki Takeover, and Oktoberfest have been tasty, and some of my all time Barrel House Social favorites! When they have these week long food events, their entire regular menu is always available — if anyone in your party wishes to order from it instead of one of the specials. I have been to five events the past two years, and each time, there were 3 special items (usually 2 entrees and 1 app) and 3 drinks (typically, a specialty cocktail and appropriate beer and wine) on the special event food menu. The whole restaurant is decorated in the theme, too! SUNDAY BRUNCH Although their Sunday brunch menu is limited, their whole menu is also available during this time — AND the mimosas are truly bottomless. We never once had to chase down a refill, as our server made sure our glasses were continuously refilled! DRINKS: BHS also has specialty cocktails, craft beers, and supposedly over 100 types of whiskey. I hope they bring back a whiskey flight, so we can easily try more and compare these! SEATING: Seating is mostly high pub tables, although there are some large booths along the back and front walls, as well as in the second smaller room. When weather is nice, there are regular tables on the sidewalk in front, as well as on their closed-in back patio. The bar is decent sized and has cushioned barstools with backs. RESERVATIONS/ONLINE ORDERING: Reservations can be made online, and you can choose the area of the restaurant where you want to sit, including both outside areas. You are also able to order food for carryouts online. PARKING/TRANSPORTATION: There is limited angled street parking in front of the restaurant, but a large public parking lot is within the same block, just to the west. Public transportation is also an option with the Metra BNSF stopping right across the street. HOURS, SCHEDULE, AND MORE... LUNCH MENU: Currently, Barrel House is closed earlier in the week (Mon and Tues), but open for lunch now on the days they are open. I was given the regular menu for lunch, so I assume their full menu is available during lunchtime here. LATER NIGHT: They are also generally open later than most other restaurants in La Grange, especially on weekends, although the kitchen will close earlier — but the staff is always efficient in making sure customers know what time you can order food through. WEEKLY EVENTS: Currently (2022), BHS has trivia night on every Wednesday and music bingo on Thursdays. I believe both start at 7pm, but arrive/make reservations for earlier.

This was a nice discovery last night. We were out for a spontaneous dinner to escape some chaos in our own home. We had a few different restaurants in mind. Our first choice had just closed their kitchen (it was nearly 8pm on a Sunday night), our second choice turned out to be closed on Sundays and we weren't sure about our 3rd choice... We then happened upon Barrel House Social, and remembered hearing good things about it from a friend, so decided to give it a try. Firstly, a great selection of beers, especially local craft beer. They even had a favorite of mine - the "Peach Cobbler" sour, by "More" brewery in Villa Park. A lot of great breweries represented. (They should add some Belgians from Lo Rez in Pilsen though!) Secondly, an excellent selection of good quality food. A bit more expensive than some more casual places, but on a par with more high-end places. My husband had the short rib pasta, which was very good and I had the Pesto Chicken melt, which was excellent. I had the Brussels sprouts side, which was delicious - very sweet & caramelized. I'd be interested to try other dishes next time. The service was also excellent. We arrived at 2 minutes to 8pm, and though their kitchen closed at 8pm, the server welcomed us in and said we were just in time, which was a relief, after finding two previous restaurants unavailable. Our server was prompt, attentive and friendly, even anticipating our needs throughout the meal. (Which is becoming relatively rare with service these days). I wish I'd noted down his name. The ambience was very nice - modern, but cozy decor and lighting. There was a choice of booths or tables and I liked our booth by the window. All in all, a delightful discovery and we'll definitely be back.

Not bad at all. $50 for the salmon bowl, artichoke dip, a hard cider, and tax, seems a bit steep, but with inflation I can't really say much anymore. The food was pretty good. Not "fall off my chair" amazing, but def worth a second visit and the ambience is great for dates and groups. There's a beer garden in the back that looked cool, and the staff was friendly and attentive.

Very nice. Good selection of beer. We had the blackened cod sandwich (a wee bit overly salty) and a burger (looked a little over done but tasty). The fries were excellent - they had a smoky undertone. The waitress did not give us the special lobster fest menu. Had we known, we would have tried a lobster roll. Everything was over priced for sure. But, it is LaGrange after all.

I am a new fan of the Barrel House Social, after getting it mixed up with the Barrel Club in Oak Lawn (review to come). Bottomless mimosas and bellinis are bottomless for a very good price! Tasty too! Keep ‘em coming! For appetizers, the Brussel sprouts and elote (no pictures) were excellent picks. The elote is the 1st place I’ve had that was actually good. I get authentic elote regularly in my Chicago neighborhood and Barrel House Social has a good replica! My entree was the Whiskey-glazed salmon. I enjoyed the potato accompaniment with the asparagus. A good choice. For the birthday celebration, we had the flourless chocolate cake, which was also good…and dense! Friendly, attentive staff as we! I will return!

First time here for me and my boys. We came on a Sunday and it was a very clean and inviting atmosphere. Our server was very pleasant and checked on us often even after she mentioned they were short-handed. The food was very good, my burger was cooked to perfection. The pork belly and bacon dip appetizers were amazing. Desserts were very good as well. Little bit high on the price side, but it's definitely worth it, and we will be back again.

Was a hole in the wall place my friend and I tried for lunch. Great food, service, and atmosphere. I got the PB+J Burger and it was delicious! My friend got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and was a big fan of it. The sweet potato fries were a perfect side. Will be back to try more off the menu! I think there is only street parking, so just make sure you get a spot!

I had raspberry French toast. Husband had salad. The French toast was not good at all. It had raspberry fluff inside fried bread. The salad was incredibly small. The food & drinks were expensive. Don’t waste your money. Waitress wasn’t very friendly.

We had an amazing experience here during restaurant week, where a prefixed menu was available. I'm not normally one to go for salads but I thoroughly enjoyed the one offered here. The staff were friendly and the restaurant had a great vibe. Will definitely be back in the future to try other items on the menu.

Incredible service, phenomenal food. The pork belly appetizer was some of the best meat I've ever eaten. Sorta pricey.... but delicious. Big drink menu! And the music in here rocks

The Most Definitely cocktail was delicious. The brussel sprouts are banging. We're going back to explore the menu more.

Food was amazing! Our server was wonderful, attentive, and made so many great recommendations. They ran out of the beer we wanted and comped us for two. The patio is super cute with ivy and string lights.

Adjacent to the bustling and congested La Grange Road, we discovered an ivy covered patio that reminded me of the old world Europe this time of the year. Stay awhile and enjoy the serenity and calm. The draft beers are legit, according to my husband, and the rotating cocktail menu appears to be the attraction here. And on a good day, you may see a young resident rabbit near the phone booth. We will be returning.
