I
attended
a
conference
here
and
stayed
at
a
hotel
across
the
street.
Even
with
a
"discount"
being
applied
for
conference
attendees,
I
paid
less
than
half
of
what
the
Gaylord
quoted.
First,
the
positives.
The
atrium
area
is
attractive,
usually
clean,
and
has
a
beautiful
view
of
the
Potomac.
The
valet
staff
also
seems
to
be
pretty
on
the
ball,
and
keeps
traffic
moving
in
the
check
in
area.
I
never
found
an
actually
rude
employee.
Now,
everything
else.
The
staff
is
underinformed
of
events
going
on
in
the
conference
areas.
I
went
in
the
night
before
while
waiting
for
my
party
to
get
ready
for
dinner
to
scout
out
where
the
reservation
desk
would
be
the
next
morning.
No
one
could
tell
me-
I
was
very
politely
told
by
cleaning,
security,
and
several
people
at
the
front
desk
that
public-facing
staff
is
never
told
about
upcoming
events
until
they
start.
While
I'm
sure
that
the
facilities
were
great
when
first
built,
they
have
several
maintenance
issues.
The
men's
restroom
closest
to
my
convention's
rooms
had
the
sinks
back
up
every.
single.
day.
Not
just
one
sink-
all
of
them.
When
I
started
using
other
restrooms,
I
was
unable
to
find
one
that
did
not
have
mold
growing
in
it.
And
finally,
they
apparently
have
an
exclusive
contract
with
a
convention
services
company
called
Freeman
or
Encore
(no
one
seemed
quite
sure)
to
provide
convention
services.
They
didn't
give
conference
staff
an
option
when
it
came
to
having
their
registration
supplies
shipped.
My
group
showed
up
a
few
minutes
after
registration
opened
at
0600
and
conference
staff
was
waiting
for
delivery.
No
one
showed
up
until
almost
0800,
when
sessions
were
supposed
to
start.
The
whole
conference
was
delayed
as
a
result
of
the
incompetence
of
the
people
that
work
here.
In
short,
the
real
disappointment
here
is
that
the
facility
had
the
potential
to
be
so
much
more
than
it
is.
But
the
staff-
the
upper
staff
from
what
I
saw-
make
it
mediocre
at
best.
