Nice hotel with a lot of inconveniences. The room are great; goof climate control, comfortable bed, and quality towels, etc. The problem is that the hotel is not set up for a normal traveler. It is a convention center primarily so if the event is co-located at the hotel, it's great. If you're visiting DC and want to stay here for the nearby restaurants and easy access to the Maryland side, go elsewhere. First of all, checking in is a process. It took me probably 30 minutes to get to my room even though I had made a reservation. There are long waiting lines at the check-in desk, and even though I'm an elite member, there was only one employee handling the check in. Even after check-in, the hotel layout is so confusing it took me a minute just to find the elevators. Second was the parking garage; it is a hike to get to and very expensive. Third was the "resort fee." This is a sneaky way to charge you $22 more a day for your stay. They say it includes dry cleaning and some other things but its a poor facade for an excuse to nickle and dime the guests--if I want dry cleaning, I'll pay for it separately. I was originally planning on staying there for an entire week, but decided to check out on the second day. I was excited to stay at this top rated hotel due to its location and surrounding amenities, but I'll never be staying there again.

Loved this place! We stayed in their upgraded Suite and it was fantastic. Well appointed, shower pressure was strong, loved it! Beautiful building. Only minus was the loud laser show in the evening which was really annoying from our room…… also the Pool leaves a lot to be desired. The floor of the pool is terrible!!! Rough surface like unfinished concrete. People - GET IT RESURFACED SMOOTHLY!! It’s only a bit over 3 feet deep so very shallow for a real pool.

I was attending a conference at this hotel so I really only experienced my hotel room and a few of the conference halls. The hotel room was nice but was like most hotel rooms in this price and category. I did like the look of the central courtyard area but I barely had time to even get down there briefly. Unfortunately my overall experience was marred by the mandatory daily "resort charges" ($27/night + taxes) I found tacked on to bill. These are not shown in the daily room rate at the time I made the booking. I later saw it was shown further down in the booking confirmation where it's easy to overlook if you make the booking in a hurry and not paying close attention. I don't know what resort facilities this hotel has but I was too busy at the conference to use them. I imagine this would be true with many other hotel guests, particularly ones who are there for a convention. Moreover, if these costs are mandatory, why not just include them in the regular room rate? That way, it would be a lot easier to comparison shop among hotels and decide if you thought it was worth it. I found out later on that this practice has been increasingly used by hotels in recent years and there have been legal cases brought in several states against hotels that use such tactics. Anyway, I do hope this review will alert others to these charges.

National Harbor in I would go back to this hotel again in a heartbeat! Let me start out by saying, that I'm usually a person that likes to explore new places, and rarely return to places I've already been due to this. This hotel would be one I would return to- Absolutely beautiful. Well kept building and grounds, lots of activities to explore and view. I love that there was shopping with in the hotel, a great marketplace amazing. Super clean and wonderful staff. This is probably one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever see the glass elevator is nice the view is breathtaking the rooms were very nice and had lots of space 👍 The people that work here are exceptional, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They led us in all the right directions, and front desk was very nice 😊 loud cars and speeding always in the access or in parking

Wonderful conference hotel! Close to airport, across from DC, in MD. Super staff throughout stay in all areas. Clean, nice views, beautiful atrium with great views from even the elevators! Looking out at DC/VA and amazing sunsets! Walk out to the waterfront, across from many great dining and shopping choices. Really enjoyed staying here! Would definitely stay again!

Had a blast at Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD, over Christmas! The light show was insanely cool, making the whole place feel like a winter wonderland. The decorations were on point, totally getting everyone into the holiday spirit. The hotel itself is awesome, with comfy rooms and plenty of places to grab some good grub. What really stood out was all the stuff for kids to do – it's super family-friendly. The staff was chill, making sure everyone had a good time. Gaylord National Resort isn't just a hotel; it's like a holiday playground. Whether you're checking out the epic light show, enjoying the amenities, or joining in the festive activities, it's a top pick for making awesome holiday memories. Totally recommend it for a fun and festive Christmas getaway!

I enjoy the Gaylord brand because it's really close to a one stop shop experience. I was shocked this wasn't like the other locations. My room was clean and accommodating. The bathroom was nice, but a little on the petite side. It took a minute to find our room because we were given a room number that didn't exist. Honest mistake...no big deal. I was shocked to see only one person at the elite desk. Of all the places to wait, that shouldn't be the place. The amenities are fine. I wish there were more places to eat in the restaurant. The food store is waaaaay overpriced. We splurged one night because we were too tired to go out. It was pricey. Overall, it's a nice hotel.

What’s not to love about the Gaylord National? Rooms and amenities are exceptional. Recently enjoyed memorable stay with room upgrade. Breathtaking view. Location is excellent. Wonderful place to stay with caring staff. Fitness center is really impressive.

We make an annual trip to this magnificent hotel each year during the Christmas season. It’s a tradition for our family. Every year is better than the last! The hotel is beautiful and offers A LOT of amenities. Emanuel treated us like celebrities when we arrived and the grands enjoyed the extra attention very much! He personally took us to our room and ensured everything was in order before leaving us. He also left a wonderful tray of special treats for us! He made our stay so much more enjoyable! Thank you Emanuel! Our room was so beautiful with a Christmas tree and decorations everywhere. We made some precious new memories this year. We are already planning next year’s visit! Love this place!!

We had a great time at Gaylord Resort. We had an atrium view room, and everything was perfect. The room was clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful. This is definitely an upscale hotel. We went mid week, at the end of November so although there were a lot of people it was largely those attending one of several conferences going on. The walk from the parking lot to the lobby wasn’t great but we probably could have driven up and checked in before parking and saved some hassle. If you’re staying overnight don’t pay for parking at the kiosk you can do that at the check in desk. Also the two separate elevators is a little confusing so listen carefully to the check in person telling you which one to use. We went down to the Harbor Social and had a lot of fun playing games, also not crowded so we were able to check out a pool table and then table shuffleboard without waiting and it didn’t cost anything to play. We did eat dinner and breakfast offsite, as there are many options within walking distance. The Christmas decorations and the light show were fantastic and we also visited Ice!, which was not crowded at all early on a Thursday. We will definitely be back.

Best hotel experience I've had since we're back to traveling post-pandemic. The Consider It Done button on the phone is genius. Every experience from housekeeping staff, to check in, to concierge was exceptional. So many small but important touches, like 2 bottles of bottled water in your room everyday. Highly recommend.

Visited for a conference. Stayed 4 nights. Wow. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Service was top drawer. Several restaurants and bars on site. Visited most of them. Resort type atmosphere without being so ginormous that you have to walk a million miles. So glad our conference is there again next year!

The valet team was most excellent!! We were in town with an oversize vehicle and they made the parking experience so easy. The hotel itself is beyond belief of luxury. My favorite was the huge gorgeous atrium with such awesome greenery. How did they keep such a huge and sunlit place so cool?

The place was beautiful to be in. The aesthetic of the location was great. The staff was super helpful and went above and beyond. The beds were a bit uncomfortable, but the rooms were nice enough. Although room AC was never able to work right. It was always too hot or too cold it could not get comfortable. It always smelled humid and felt it was the ac unit itself, making it smell that way. We stayed for 5 days, and we were glad we were only in the room to sleep. Also if you come here be ready to spend a lot of money for the most basic of wants. Drinks are expensive. Simple food is expensive.

Very disappointed in the room. For $327 I expected a better accommodation. I have had better rooms for under $100. No microwave, curtains don't close (if I can see the people across from me, they can see in my room). Drawers stuck. I can find better sheers in Goodwill. Some lights don't work. Room service was great, the view wonderful, the bed is great quality, the rest subpar at best. You can do better Gaylord, I am glad that I wasn't paying the bill for this. Rooms are just as important as your amenities. I hope that if I come back you will heed this review and upgrade your rooms. Most of your staff are fantastic and helpful, a few need to get off their phones.

This hotel / convention center is in a beautiful location directly on the waterfront. The glass atrium overlooking the water has stunning views and is huge. There are multiple restaurants on site and even more within short walking distance. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The wifi in the convention areas is not good.

The bed was comfy, and I slept well. The amenities were fine, although darned near everything was way overpriced. A small breakfast for two was almost $35, and was all takeout. Aside from that, the staff were all wonderful, very helpful, and easy to work with. The resort is very large, hence there's a ton of walking of your in the furthest rooms away from the atrium, conference rooms or lobby. And we were. Overall it was fine, but I can't give it a five.

The rooms are okay. They aren't anything different other than the 'atrium views with the balconies if you are okay with heights. They are standardly clean but are not in disrepair. They are very good about service dogs and not hassling you about them. The staff are hit or miss. Sometimes you get ones that are super friendly and helpful, other times you get ones that make you feel like a problem for asking anything. Their loading dock area is awful. Nails and debris everywhere. The saving grace of this place is Ashley from their IT dept. She is the epitome of service and class.

The staff have been so kind. Despite things being incredibly busy this weekend, they gave accurate estimates, were calm and collected, and service was surprisingly fast for a sold out convention. As we were checking out, we asked a bellhop to help us bring our things down, the plan was to have the car pulled out front so we could load everything up, but the tire was completely flat. When we realized the tire wasn't going to inflate, they had us wait in front of the heaters with them so that we wouldn't be too cold while we called roadside assistance. They have been very friendly, thoughtful people every time we've stayed here. Edit: I'm removing 2 stars from my review because as we went to leave they told us the garage parking fee would be $200 more than it was last year, but only as we were leaving did anyone say this. I could have parked at any garage across the street. This is shady. But I assume that's corporate shadiness, the employees themselves have no power over that and they're doing their best.

I stayed at the Gaylord at the end of December with my partner. We were unable to access our room until almost 2 hours after our check-in time because the lock on the door was dead. In that two hours, we spoke to the front desk MULTIPLE times for a resolution. It wasn't until we asked for a manager that we finally we offered another room for the inconvenience. Our check-in time was 3pm. We were not settled until after 5pm. I can't say enough words about how rude the staff is at the Harbor Social bar located inside of the hotel. We were not served despite waiting for close to 30 minutes because the employee was "too busy" to help us. When we checked out, I was told by the front desk employee to fill out the hotel survey so I did. I received an email in response to my survey indicating that someone would call me within 3 to 5 business days. I never received that call. On business day 6, I followed up with an email which went unanswered. Overall, despite how nice the hotel actually is, this was an incredibly poor experience and we will not return.

Visited the Gaylord for the Christmas season with my 3 kids. They all had a really enjoyable time. I was concerned that the activities were more for younger kids (my kids are 9,12,14) but everyone had a great time anyway. The activities are more appealing to kids 10 and under but still a great family trip for celebrating the Christmas season. I would wait to purchase tickets based on what you wish to do - I purchased them in advance and didn’t use a bunch of them. Brunch at the steak house in the hotel was a huge hit! The room was nice but we got a balcony that was stuffed in the corner and had no view. The room was nice but one sink in the bathroom didn’t work and a bedside outlet didn’t work either. But the shower pressure was excellent.

I never plan to stay here again. If you have to stay here, do not book an atrium view room unless you plan to close down the bars and pass out in the early morning hours. Those looking for any semblance of quiet should avoid booking an atrium view room with a balcony because the doors do not keep much noise out. We couldn't take the cheering and shouting during the 11pm hour and finally requested another room and were then able to get som sleep; not a romantic or fun getaway with the wife. The hotel staff didn't really seem to care or offer any form of compensation for the inconvenience. At a minimum, I would have appreciated a refund of the price difference paid for the atrium view balcony room vs the base room we had to move into. Additionally, we had dinner at the Old Hickory Steakhouse and both of our steaks were overcooked, the cocktail I order never came although we were not charged for it, but the hostess stand marked us as a no-show and we were charged $50. I had to contact the restaurant and request a refund due to their incompetence. Once again, the staff didn't offer any incentives for the inconvenience. Next time, we will check out the MGM or stay in Old Town Alexandria.

Beware of taxis in front of hotel. No meters, and rude. Doorman led us to taxi, with no meter. Remote was not changing stations,a man came and schooled me on how to press the buttons. Please! Customer Service is hard to come by,but when paying a decent amount of $$$,it's uncalled for! Instead of schooling me ,train te the staff. Lose staff,or Customers, your choice!!!

Lost a couple hundred dollars cash at the lobby between the bell desk and the elevators. I know for a fact it was within a 20-second time frame in which I lost it and I also know the method in which it was taken. Got in contact with the security/surveillance department and they were not only very unwilling to help but also had zero sympathy and the gall to talk back to me and talk over me for a good minute when I merely tried to state the fact that I would have appreciated more direct communication. Also, the cameras just so happened to be down and not be recording for a "minute." Refused to elaborate. Very unprofessional. Have a feeling someone at the bell desk took my money based on the way he spoke to me when I inquired, but obviously no proof. Maybe this "camera down" thing is a cover-up for him, who knows. I was never even looking to recover the money. I merely just wanted some closure and to understand what exactly happened and what face took my money and all this would have been solved if they could just walk me through 20 seconds of footage, but guess with my luck, the one time I lose cash, the cameras aren't rolling.. All other staff is, for the most part, very good and kind.

Stayed there for 2 nights. This hotel is amazing! The location and the walk you can do around the resort in the harbour area is just spectacular. Hotel Service, cleanliness, staff friendliness and professionalism in addition to the tremendous architectural design of the hotel all come together to give you a great stay ♡ They have many dining options, events and shows at night and on weekends so its a whole vacation just inside the resort without having to leave at all ☆ It is definitely expensive but totally worth it however parking and valet are unnecessarily overpriced a bit.

I attended a large national event here. The front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable. The room I was in was nice and clean, and quiet. The conference facilities were top notch. It was super convenient that they had an on-site shop with relatively inexpensive grab-n-go snacks/meals. I really enjoyed the soups.

Great convention center hotel. Really a beautiful place. Great location. The room had some maintenance items needed that I informed front desk. Not addresses during my stay. Hopefully will be for next guest. Extra Marriott points given to me for compensation. Still a great place.

This is a nice hotel, and staff are great. Unfortunately the beds, while soft, have no structure to them and really messed my back up. We were here recently for an academic conference and the conference facilities are really nice. One drawback is the cost of food at the site- if you're coming here for work on a budget, pack some of your own food. Rooms have mini fridges and hot water from the coffee maker. I didn't see a microwave but there probably is one in the market area.

It is very beautiful inside. We went for the Ice and other winter activities and it was fun. Ate at the little cafe and it was expensive given what you got, but it tasted good. There is a Starbucks at the cafe. Plenty of bathrooms on each floor and they're clean. The employees were friendly.

What a wonderful experience. It was a busy weekend when we stayed here but the staff still provided prompt and excellent customer service. The valet staff are super friendly and perfect addition to the initial impression of the place. Our room had a beautiful view and very clean. It’s also perfectly located to all the fun places at National Harbor.

Best wallpaper out of any luxury resort I've ever been to. It would have been nice if there had been a complimentary coffee bar for the morning at least even if there wasn't a continental breakfast. I guess I assumed because the place was so nice that I'd atleast get breakfast out of it....alas, No such luck. There are great alternatives within walking distance to the insane cost of eating inside the resort. But again, the wallpaper. Good enough to get five stars in my book.

What an incredible hotel. I was attending for a conference and I am so glad it was held here. The rooms are spacious and modern. It was just me but 2 people could have easily felt comfortable. It’s close by to restaurants and things to do at the harbor, but there’s also plenty on site. I grabbed a late night snack at the cafe one night, and they had tons of hot and cold food options, plus normal convince store snacks. In the morning, the on-site Starbucks is a huge plus.

This has been my best experience at a Gaylord so far, probably because it's a little smaller and easier to navigate than the others I've been too. The staff at the front desk, house keeping, and valet were all very nice! Great views and a huge conference space. Only complaints are that the bank of elevators on the north side were super slow and it seemed like a lot of them might have been out of order and the dining options in the hotel itself are limited. Also, the kid working at Key provisions was really rude and $6 for a small bottle of OJ is crazy.

Stayed for 10 nights, and this hotel has some of the best staff I have encountered in any hotel I have stayed in in the United States. From Housekeeping to Front Desk and every restaurant in the hotel, every single person was warm, polite and attentive. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms I was in were very well kept. Its perfect location lends itself to easy walking to a multitude of restaurants and events.

Gorgeous hotel and friendly customer service! The hotel event management team has a lot of fun activities for families and adults. I stayed mid-October and "Spookley" the square pumpkin was there for fall activities and it was so adorable. There's a 80s-themed bar with no cover with a really nice view of the area. The room was very clean, the water pressure of the shower was a perfect life-changing massage at the end of a long day. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone.

Stunning views inside and out! Our room was extremely clean. During the evening, they have a laser light show which is awesome. There are eateries and shops within walking distance, a ferris wheel overlooking the water. It runs at night as well. Simply beautiful!

Sadly this was the worst stay I have ever had at a Marriott Hotel. First, we requested two double beds which was identified on my reservation. When I arrived and went to my room where there was only a king bed, I called the front desk. They informed me that my reservation was for a king and if I had anything that disputed the information to go to the front desk. Well after waiting in line for 40 minutes to check in I did not want to waste another 40 min in line. I was in town for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. conference. Then we noticed that we had NO chair in our room. No lounge chair or desk chair. When I asked the bellman who brought up our luggage 2.5 hours after our check in and after we went to the bellhop station, he advised that he would let someone know. Well nothing ever happened so we spent 4 days with one bed, and NO chair. Then the air would NOT work. We constantly changed the setting because the temp kept climbing to the mid 70s. But the worst part was the mildew and mold bathroom shower area. It was terrible. We had to shower in shower shoes. Total unacceptable and not expected of a Marriott Hotel. I am so disappointed. Upon check out I complained and showed my confirmation which clearly said two double beds and was told, the only thing that could be done was that our parking would be comped. Well I was advised that the parking (valet) was $52 per night. I later learned that because I was apart of the Delta conference we had a discounted rate of $32 per night. However, Nicole at the front desk said she forgot. So in summary, we had a king versus the requested 2 double beds, no chair, air that was inconsistent, waited 2.5 hours for our luggage to be brought to our room, molded and mildew bathroom and I was misquoted the cost of parking. I am so very disappointed and will write a review to let people visiting this property know about my experience.

I attended a conference here and stayed at a hotel across the street. Even with a "discount" being applied for conference attendees, I paid less than half of what the Gaylord quoted. First, the positives. The atrium area is attractive, usually clean, and has a beautiful view of the Potomac. The valet staff also seems to be pretty on the ball, and keeps traffic moving in the check in area. I never found an actually rude employee. Now, everything else. The staff is underinformed of events going on in the conference areas. I went in the night before while waiting for my party to get ready for dinner to scout out where the reservation desk would be the next morning. No one could tell me- I was very politely told by cleaning, security, and several people at the front desk that public-facing staff is never told about upcoming events until they start. While I'm sure that the facilities were great when first built, they have several maintenance issues. The men's restroom closest to my convention's rooms had the sinks back up every. single. day. Not just one sink- all of them. When I started using other restrooms, I was unable to find one that did not have mold growing in it. And finally, they apparently have an exclusive contract with a convention services company called Freeman or Encore (no one seemed quite sure) to provide convention services. They didn't give conference staff an option when it came to having their registration supplies shipped. My group showed up a few minutes after registration opened at 0600 and conference staff was waiting for delivery. No one showed up until almost 0800, when sessions were supposed to start. The whole conference was delayed as a result of the incompetence of the people that work here. In short, the real disappointment here is that the facility had the potential to be so much more than it is. But the staff- the upper staff from what I saw- make it mediocre at best.

What an amazing place! We came to the Ice exhibit and enjoyed every bit of this resort. Can't believe we waited so long to come here. The Ice exhibit was wonderful but bone chilling cold inside; don't expect to spend more than 20 minutes in that place. The inside of the resort was beautifully adorned with holiday decorations. Many great photo opportunities. Come for the Ice exhibit, come for other events, come to stay ... You won't be disappointed!

I went to the Gaylord for a work conference. This is the first time I’ve been to this establishment. This hotel is very beautiful, however a little confusing to navigate until you explore and get your bearings. If you don’t mind the stairs, I suggest getting to know where they are to reduce your wait time at the elevators. The hotel room I stayed in was standard, 2 queen beds, like pictures others have posted. My only gripe with the room is the lighting is awful. The bathroom vanity area has a large mirror with an amber light, making it difficult to put makeup on. The lower level, Atrium floor, was fabulous: babbling brook, beautiful flowers & plenty of walkways. There is different animal signs you can look for and use phone to listen about those animals facts. Beautiful large indoor pool, each person had their own spot to occupy. It was hot in there & the pool was heated. Outside there was 2 hot tubs, however small & if you want to use it most likely have to get their earlier in day. Wish they had a regular pool area outside to enjoy the outside air & to cool down after a hot day. Had a game room & gym by the pool area, only 1 elevator to that area. There was plenty of places to eat within walking distance & plenty of photo ops. Very happy with stay & area!

It's a gorgeous place & great venue for a conference. The "rubber chicken" dinner was anything but mediocre. So good!! I sent compliments to the kitchen after the awards banquet I attended was over. Appetizers were good another night.

Great location and many options in the building to choose from. I was here for a conference they have shops within and multiple eating options and bars inside. As far as customer service, they were pretty busy that week but didn't feel they had good customer service for people walking in. The guest service could be more attentive, especially when you have so much going on in the building. They have spacious meetings/events rooms to hold 2000+ people

The hotel is physically stunning, beautifully appointed. The staff is uniformly professional and friendly. The food (we'll revisit in a second) was delicious and creative. However - a few negative notes: $60/day valet parking - in the middle of Maryland, felt borderline abusive as parking charges go. I self parked and still left with a $100 charge after 3 days. I live in Brooklyn, New York where space is much more at a premium and pay less to park. Crazy. Very few food options. The ones they do have are similarly insanely expensive. My suggestion is to leave the hotel and go out nearby where there are many options that will cost more than they should, but less than half what the hotel expects you to pay. We were told we'd have a harbor view - which is technically what they gave me, from juuust the right angle looking out the window you could, in fact, see a sliver of the harbor. View was a bit of an oversell though, more like "can just make it out". With all this said, we enjoyed our stay. The building is an architectural marvel and everything was very pleasant. Just be prepared for all the extra charges.

It’s a Holiday Inn Express with $30 million dollar lobby. Although the grounds of the hotel are impressive, the rooms are nothing remarkable. Although the maximum nightly rate (as published on the door to each room by law) is a cool $13,000 a night, the vast majority of travelers will never see the presidential suite. Having a 5 day conference at the hotel was a pleasant enough experience, because it didn’t cost me a dime. I would be livid if I paid because the rooms were honestly nothing beyond what you get at a decent 2.5 star hotel next to the local airport. The lobby is opulent and impressive. It could best be described by a comparison to Santa’s village at your local mall. They created a miniature town square setup in the cavernous lobby and enclosed it all under glass. It is ringed by high end stores and an elegant steakhouse restaurant. The restaurant was high caliber and the $200 steaks and beautiful view of the harbor were worth every penny. It was probably the only thing at the Gaylord that lived up to hype and high standards. The rest seems a bit pretentious and unimpressive. Even the pool was a major letdown for a high end resort. The rooms don’t even provide your own shampoo and soap. They have adopted a communal pump bottle system where you share these toiletries with the previous guest. As much as I do not wish to sleep in the same sheets as the last person, I don’t wish to use there soap either. Even the Hampton Inn provides you with your own tiny bar of soap. So if you’re going for a conference on the company dime, be prepared to be unimpressed. If you are paying your own way, get a $120/night room at one of the business hotels near Regan National and save your money. I do recommend splurging your savings at the Old Hickory Steakhouse on premises, but stay elsewhere.

We have stayed at a few of the Gaylord's. So we decided to stay here since the Avon Convention was being held there. It was beautiful and the views were gorgeous. You could sit outside and enjoy the scenery. There was not enough seating while lunch was being served. They have a cafe but only a steakhouse restaurant.

Great location. Lots of places to eat outside of the hotel. Monday trivia was fun. My room has a nice view but some are not good. Elevators were fairly fast but sometimes took a long time to arrive. Just depended on floor and direction you were going. Hotel staff were in such a hurry it sometimes ruined part of the conference. Alcohol is very expensive. Food was very expensive I. The hotel.

I’ve stayed here 4 times for conventions. The event accommodations are excellent. Standard rooms left some room for improvement. The suites were immaculate! The grounds and amenities offered in the resort are top quality. If you’re a fan of DC the location is great.

This is a frequented hotel for my family and it's always a blast. Family friendly. The atrium view is a MUST. The pool is 3-3.5ft the length of the pool so kids can roam around safely. In the summertime the restaurants and area is very close with a great variety of foods. The capital wheel is great as well within walking distance. We tend to visit Washington DC before or after out stay for tourism and dining. Overall our favorite hotel.

This is a beautiful property. It's spacious, has an atrium, waterfront view, near beautiful views. The waterfront view has chairs set out to enable relaxation facing the water. Lots of food options are nearby as well. However, small things are a bit annoying for a property like this. Hot water seems to be elusive. Trash sits around much longer than I'd like. Not deal breakers as I can't wait to come back but small things can make a difference in hotels trying to be luxurious.

I never review places but there are so many issues with this hotel I have to. For such a massive hotel they need a lot more staff. If your keys stop working (which happened to us multiple times both the physical and virtual keys) you’ll be waiting in a half hour line. Check in took an hour. It’s a nightmare especially with children. I was charged twice for two rooms even though I only booked one. We were mistakenly charged $250 for a late check out and they had a random credit card on file for us. They’re so behind in maintenance issues it’s ridiculous. And the accessibility issues are huge. No handicap door buttons work. Elevator lights are out. The women’s changing room is locked at the pool so my 1.5 year old daughter and I had to change in the mens room. Sounds like it’s been broke for months. It’s also the least sustainable place I’ve ever stayed. Because it’s so big they can’t support normal restaurant functions so there’s a beyond expensive one or they have a ‘market place’ where you buy prepackaged food. The food is okay but everything is in plastic and you use plastic utensils and there’s no recycling (only cans) so you’re throwing away TONS of plastic everyday if you’re eating there regularly. I mean tons, it’s truly horrible and crazy. Have recycling! And there are no microwaves in the room so no way to heat food up. Then at leaving we requested luggage help at a certain time and they had no record of it. At nearly $400 a night you expect at least the bare minimum to happen. We switched hotels. The only reason I’m giving it two stars is because the room is comfortable and our conference went fine.
