A wonderful day out, full of nostalgia at every turn. Cafe menu is a little basic but at least it is inexpensive. Will be going back in the future as we are sure to have missed something during this visit. Not only is there wheelchair access but they have them available for general use by visitors.

What an extraordinary, unusual and wonderful museum collection! Like nothing I've ever seen before. So eclectic. A magnificent coming together of the everyday and the rare and special. The Oakham treasures include an astonishingly large collection of signage, tractors, cars and motorbikes, a beer can collection, shaving mugs, vintage electrical goods, stuff, stuff, and more stuff. Many wonderful early 20th century shop display cabinets full of vintage goods of every description.

Excellent place to visit, they have everything from cars and tractors to a pharmacy and a sweetshop, there is loads there for everyone to see, a huge collection. The residents I took said that they'd like to come back again and it's definitely worth the money. There is also a cafe for hot food and drinks Definitely worth a visit

Like... W-O-W! There is insane amounts to look at here! My pictures don't even scratch the surface really! We just of stumbled across this by chance and I'm glad we did, it was hot and I'd just been dragged around a busy national trust.. we came here and it was lovely and quiet and cool! We didn't bring our kids, I imagine it would of been a nightmare as lots of things they would of wanted to touch and probably would then break.. Some things brought back memories and others were just good curiosities. Its a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and I love some of the things have the information about where they came from, though we still had ALOT of questions about how sooo much has been collected 😂 I would totally come back here for a longer look, if ever visiting in the area again.. make a proper trip of it instead of stumbling into it late in the day. We signed the guest book 😊

Amazing, massive treasure trove of eclectic collections. A 'must' for people who can remember 90% of what's on show. Spent 3 hours .... Could have easily spent another 2 hours there. My number one visit ever!!! We even parked up the caravan on the site to the rear and had a satisfying breakfast too. Not open on Sundays / Mondays, yet.

This is the most extraordinary place. A museum about... everything. It's enormous, eclectic, and quite mad. Entire buildings full of tractors, next to vast arrays of empty larger cans before walls of hammers and spanners. There's a incredibly array (rooms of it) of post-war food, products, toys, games, and more century-old shoe polish than you could ever imagine. And that's to barely scrape the surface. What an amazing place to spend an afternoon.

To be honest I was expecting a few old farm implements and some advertising stuff, but absolutely blown away by the exhibits and the buildings. Everything from shop stuff up to cars, motorbikes and tractors and much much more. All kept in nice warm buildings. Absolutely worth a visit, plus it has a huge new cafe as well. Blinding.

Strongly recommend you to visit this place. We are not very old but we got the change to see some unique items and to experience how things were so much different back in the day. Some of the items we saw really brought back memories from when we were kids. We will definitely visit again and bring our parents with us. All the staff were extremely kind and couldn’t of been more welcoming. Thank you for an amazing experience.

This is a real Alladins cave of a place! It seems to keep going on, room after room! So much to see, all from decades gone by.. lots of tractors, there's some cars, bikes.. but the sheer volume of everyday things is quite simply amazing 👏 Well worth a visit if you enjoy a real blast from the past! Highly recommend.. Nice cafe too reasonably priced.

Lots and lots of items to look at in multiple halls. There was pretty much everything from food packaging and kitchen items through toys and clothes to bikes and cars. The café at the entrance was very spacious.

  • 5/5 Trevor B. 4 years ago on Google
Comfortable, Spacious cafe & the museum is much larger than expected. There's such a huge array of memorabilia from the last century that you could spend all day here & still not see every item. A truly unique experience.

Absolutely brilliant for all ages, plenty to see and bring back old memories and for the younger visitors to see how things have developed beyond recognition. Cafe really good fresh food cooked to order. Our grandsons love going there.

What a place, if there isn't something that triggers a memory for you, then your a robot. To be fair even a robot would like the dalik in the cafe. A place that needs multiple visits as you won't see everything first time. Just astounded that I've lived locally and not been before. Staff were great too. Don't think, just visit!

Brilliant place for memories of yesteryear. Lovely cafe and very clean. Would recommend but make sure you allow time as so much to see and reminisce about. Loved it.

  • 5/5 Steve B. 2 years ago on Google
We weren't expecting much....but Oakham is a quiet collection of objects guaranteed to elicit nostalgia. It's definitely geared towards an older audience, but there is plenty to talk to children about whilst giddy with reminiscence. Over 40's will definitely enjoy a few moments. Over 60's will be lost in the past. A great way to lose a few hours for a great price.

A great time had! Started with an excellent cooked breakfast at 1pm! Great choice menu. The museum was brilliant spent 2 and a half hours and still haven't seen it all. Looking forward to going back soon. Thank you for the day.

An absolutely hidden gem, drive past it every day on the commute and decided to visit one weekend not knowing what to expect, we ended up spending a couple hours and will be going back, the place is huge! So many things to see, from vintage machinery and vehicles, to toys and household items from previous eras! Feels less like a 'museum' and more of a wild collection that you don't know where to look next, I'd hugely recommend a visit!

  • 5/5 Myles H. 1 year ago on Google
What a gem of a place. What a collection of amazing stuff from not only my youth but my parents past too. This place is well worth a visit. Has a really good cafe too. Go there. You won't be disappointed

Oakham Treasures is a great little independent Museum with car parking and a great café serving light lunches. The Museum is quite large and packed with everything we used to have in our homes over the years. There are some mock up shops in another hall and some agriculture equipment as well. I've been there twice and enjoyed taking a group there.

  • 4/5 Julia G. 10 months ago on Google
A really interesting and eclectic mix. Nice, large cafe area. We had taken as picnic, so were unable to eat inside. Would have been better had a shaded picnic are been available and space outdoors for the children to play outside after the visit.

  • 5/5 Richard P. 11 months ago on Google
Fantastic museum! Eclectic collection including tractors, classic cars, consumer products of yesteryear, books and toys. Good, fairly priced food in the café (not NT prices!). Definitely worth visiting if you are near Bristol!

  • 5/5 Paul H. 10 months ago on Google
I loved our visit here. So many varied exhibits, there's really something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the fact that many exhibits are there for you to pick up and examine. All on one level and wide aisles make this wheelchair accessible. There's a large carpark with plenty of room for those with a campervan. There's also a nice tearoom and eatery. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed inside. Allow yourself a minimum of 4 hours for your visit, although you could easily spend all day there.

Wonderful place lots of memories for me, fun seeing things from my childhood, I'm 80yrs old. The restaurant is amazing, real mash potatoes I could smell the butter, the pie was 1st class, the peas tasted like they came out of the garden, but I'm not a lot of gravy person ,so gravy on the side in a jug made it the best meal ever. Thank you for a wonderful experience and 1st class meal. Ellen Rumble

What a brilliant place to visit! So much stuff to see, exhibited in an informal and entertaining way. I've been back many times and I've barely scratched the surface of what I want to see. Literally something for everyone. In terms of accessibility - absolutely perfect for wheelchair users with plenty of toilets for all. The cafe is fabulous, lovely home cooked food. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Adrian U. 6 months ago on Google
The museum was larger than I expected and absolutely jammed full of all sorts of fascinating items. If you are interested in post war 40's through 70's stuff then there is lots to see. Also many vintage tractors - surprisingly interesting - and household items from shops. My son and I spent a happy couple of hours there. Staff were very friendly and cafe is large and cakes looked good.

  • 5/5 Ashley B. 5 years ago on Google
I really liked looking at all the items from the past. It made me feel a bit older seeing a Nokia 3310 on display. Some of the items did remind me about things I used to see at my Gran's. I had to walk around a couple of times; because I missed a few things first time around. The only improvement I would make is that there is more labels on some of the items; there was some. But because I don't recognise some of the unusual items; it would be nice to know what year they are from and what they are called or used for. Or even the known items like the TV etc to know what year it dates back to. It will be interesting to see what items from today will make it in there soon.....

I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this private museum, but I was utterly wrong! It is a truly astounding collection of eclectic artifacts - I can hardly believe it is possible to collect so much interesting stuff. From a vast collection of old shaving mugs, through the Bletchley Park Post Office, to vintage Christmas crackers, I was absolutely hooked. My only wish was that we were there in time to get some food too - it looked delicious. My daughter was especially thrilled to find a Dalek in the café! I think a return visit is needed...

  • 4/5 Gloria G. 4 years ago on Google
Amazing collection of so many things. Good lunch in the cafe.

  • 5/5 Juliette E. 4 years ago on Google
Excellent stop just off the M5 on our way to Torquay. Endless rooms of history from tractors to teacups, spanners to suspenders, sweets to sweepers! We spent a few hours but ended up rushing as we had to get to Torquay. We will definitely return to take our time. Lovely cafe so you could break up the day and rest before diving back in to the exhibitions!

  • 5/5 Alli B. 4 years ago on Google
Love Oakham Treasures ! So much to look at it's an amazing place never been anywhere like it , full to bursting with things from yesteryear and not so long ago. We got only half way round then had a well deserved drink and snack in the spacious cafe before heading back in to see more . Very well looked after and well worth a visit .

  • 5/5 Dorky T. 4 years ago on Google
It is a very long time I have been anywhere that feels this individual. There is not a hint of french grey anywhere! It is also good for kids as there are quiz sheets available, that will keep them busy for a while. Staff were great, and the cafe serves up some great old school favorites.

  • 5/5 Barbara D. 4 years ago on Google
This has been my 4th visit and love the place. There are so many things that take me back to my childhood of the fifties and early sixties- the times then were slower and the old games which we all spent time doing together instead of watching telly plus countless other interests. Thankyou oakham treasures and i will be back .
