TLDR:
Aesthetics
doesn't
match
the
experience.
You
enter
into
an
Instagram-able
fancy
aesthetic
ambiance
but
leave
with
an
unsatisfied
stomach.

Summary:
I
came
here
with
high
expectations
for
my
very
first
two-star
Michelin
restaurant.
To
say
it
was
a
disappointment
would
be
a
total
understatement.
This
was
a
big
miss
for
me.
Their
selections
is
like
rolling
a
dice,
it's
a
win-or-lose
(hit
or
miss)
kind
of
situation.
Some
are
good
enough
price-wise
and
reputational
wise;
others,
well
it
just
doesn't
hit
the
mark.

I
didn't
read
any
reviews
nor
wanted
to
check
which
dishes
were
the
best
before
I
ate
here
because
I
wanted
the
element
of
surprise.
Most
of
the
selections
I
chose
were
based
on
their
"chef's
recommendations".
Ironically
enough,
my
meat
selection
(duck
and
chicken)—which
were
not
chef's
recommentation—were
the
only
two
worth-while
dishes.
I'm
a
chicken
lover
and
they
did
not
disappoint.
Chicken
was
juicy
and
tenderlicious.
The
umaminess
with
every
bite
was
exquisite.
Same
goes
for
the
duck.
The
rest
of
the
dishes
were
meh.
It
wasn't
amazing
enough
to
get
me
THE
chills—THE
UMAMI
FEELING.
I
eat
Chinese
for
a
living
and
goodness
the
other
dishes
felt
like
eating
in
EVERY
other
Chinese
restaurant.
No
creativity,
no
special
garnish/embellishment
on
my
plate.
0
wow
factor.
0
aesthetic
appeal.
Like
what
makes
the
other
dishes
different
from
the
rest
of
the
Chinese
restaurants?
There
must
be
something
unique
to
the
taste
but
whatever
it
is,
my
normal
senses
could
not
sense
it
that
I'd
already
forgotten
its
taste
as
I
write
this
review.
0
differentiation.
If
you're
a
normal
human
being
with
0
special
heightened
senses,
you
may
want
to
re-assess
whether
to
go
here
considering
you
aren't
paying
cheap
here.
The
Chen
special
noodle
soup
was
a
big
miss
for
me.
And
I
will
explain
later
in
the
service
section
that
THIS
wasn't
even
what
I
ORDERED!
Like
I
don't
understand
how
a
dish
like
that
can
come
from
a
two-star
Michelin
resto
like
all
you
get
inside
are
the
following:
soup,
noodles,
diced
pork,
and
1
POLONCHAY.
It
still
amazes
me
that
I
didn't
order
this
from
the
streets
or
some
fast-food
Chinese
resto.
This
coincides
with
the
service
but
I
want
to
state
it
now,
one
of
the
server
raves
about
how
one
dish
like
the
asparagus
is
priced
"that"
way
because
ingredients
are
fresh
and
imported
all
the
way
from
Japan
but
to
be
real
honest
it
won't
even
bear
much
significance
or
added
value
to
my
experience
when
in
the
end
I
end
up
with
(1)
serving
time
takes
a
long
long
time
and
yet
(2)
they
serve
the
dish
to
me
cold/lukewarm.
The
same
goes
for
all
the
other
dishes.
Like
the
tea
served
was
hotter
than
the
very
dishes
that
were
supposedly
freshly
cooked
and
served
to
me.
On
a
side
note,
I'd
like
to
add
my
distaste
for
their
beverages,
i.e.
tea.
I
ordered
tea:
flower
tea
and
jasmine
tea
(again
this
is
not
what
we
ordered).
I
know
this
ain't
a
tea
speciality
restaurant
but
if
you're
pricing
it
at
6
SGD,
I'm
expecting
some
quality
tea
serving/preparation.
Like
Putien
knows
what
is
GOOD
tea.
Like
seriously,
the
sacrilege
in
daring
to
just
dunk
exquisite
quality
flowers
and
tea
leaves
in
tea
bags
floating
away
in
a
good
ol'
fashion
white,
ceramic,
Chinese
teapot.
One
word:
Gobsmacked.
If
you're
a
tea
enthusiast
like
me,
pass
ordering
tea
here.
You're
better
off
with
just
water.
