October 2022: The family was hungry wanted to stop someplace for a quick bite. I suggested IHOP since they specialize in pancakes. I had not been to any of their restaurants in several years and figured why not give them a try? We wanted to order some smoothies, but they were out of the ingredients to make them so we settled for milkshakes. We ordered the kids burger meal, a pancakes meal, and 2 French toast meals. The food was over portioned, but we did not know that prior to ordering. Pros: * The waitress was friendly and trying her best to make our experience a pleasant one. The overall service was okay...not fast, not slow. * Restaurant seemed clean. The tables and floors looked clean. The restroom was in good condition. * The food was okay, but not stellar. The French toast was made using 2 super slices of Texas Toast. Too much for one person really. Cons: * The prices were reasonable. Everything came out to $49.10 for a group of four. We paid cash giving her $100 bill + a dime. Our change came back messed up. She gave me $50.90. I wanted to avoid the coins, but no matter the coins became part of her tip. Conclusion: I want to give this location a 3.5 star rating, but am unable to rate in decimals. It is not a true 3, but not a 4 neither. Just an okay restaurant. I would return, but am in no hurry to do so.

I have to ask, do they ever clean the restaurant 🙄? If you drop anything on the bathroom 🚻 floor, you should either throw it away or burn 🔥 it. Imagine when something hits the floor in the kitchen 😳. The reality is that you can find worse places to eat that are better than this one. It is a different world down there in the steel yard area.

This is the worst place to go. Restaurant is nasty. The floor is a mess. I was there to pick up my online order. They told me it would be a few minutes so I figured OK my food will be fresh and warm. when I receive my order it was code and completely wrong and only have about 10 pieces of fries. What happened? Did they run out of potato? Did They scrap this from another plate ? for the price that I paid does meal was not worth it. I wish there was an option to give minus stars, because not even one star is what they deserve.

I see why the reviews are bad. They are trying their best but honestly, their best isn't cutting it. The place wasn't at capacity but the service was still lackluster. The server came by once and the food was disappointing. Doubt I'll have better luck next time.

The place looked like it was under renovation or something when I showed up. Carpets rolled up. I wasn't sure if it was really open. But I was seated. I had a breakfast sandwich and my kid had a burger and fries. There was like two other people sitting together there, so it wasn't busy. Still she took forever to get back with another water. My kid eats burgers and he finishes them. He did not like it. My breakfast sandwich was just okay. I could of whipped up some better breakfast so I was already regretting coming here. I gave him my sandwich so he could eat something. I took his burger. It looked unappealing and tasted how it look. Somehow they messed up fries, another thing my kid and I love. His chocolate milk was untouched. Which was the strangest of all to me. This kid loves chocolate milk so much and so I tried it and the milk was off. Did not taste right. I actually came in because I was given a gift card. So it wasn't coming out of my pocket. Still it was a very poor experience. If it's so poorly run like that, they should just shut it down. I tipped the waitress and I did not make a big ordeal about it. I seriously would recommend this place be shut down if they don't make efforts to improve. I remember this place being full years ago. Covid-19 and food apps are not an excuse. I went to Rubin's on Lorain for 7 years. It was a 4 star diner open 24/7 and people came to pick up during COVID and we're back there as soon as the could dine in. This has a feeling of just being poorly run as the culprit and now they seem to cut corners. If a place is good, it's good. Word of mouth travels. Very disappointing.

The absolute worst IHOP that I have ever been to in my life. We arrived at 9:56 and didn’t leave until 11:29. We did not sit around after our meal chatting, after we ate - we wanted to go immediately. It took all that time to be seated, waited on, served and cashed out. As we sat and waited a line quickly occurred and the customers ended up waiting much much longer than we did. Some waited there the entire time we were waiting for our food, ate and then were able to leave. Mind you - there were A LOT of empty tables. The restaurant was not busy at all and we waited for a host for quite some time. They did not seem understaffed, as there were more employees than customers! This location is very dingy and needs a DEEP DEEP clean. I can only imagine what the kitchen looked like, and I don’t think I want to know. I was not impressed with our server and had to reach for a male server by the name of (Anthony) several times. He was absolutely so sweet, kind, helpful and had the absolute best attitude. He seemed like he wanted to be there and that he truly cared for his customers. I wish he would’ve been our server. Our food came out after a LONG time and I took one bite of my blueberry lemon crepe and immediately spit it out. Had a girlfriend try it and she said “that’s mayonnaise!” I was definitely disgusted and had Anthony come over to take it back to the kitchen because our server was nowhere in sight. He apologized, took it back and then he came back confirming it was mayonnaise that the cooks put in there and that he gave me a 20% discount off my meal. Which was so kind. I was happy enough with my nicely remade crepe. Our server was with him and she also apologized. Needless to say we will not be back to this location. But for those that live around the area, or for those that don’t and want to try this place out - I highly recommend you request Anthony as your server. My 2 star review is because Anthony made this experience better, otherwise it would be a firm zero.

This was the worst IHOP we have ever been to! We waited a half hour for our food, and it was like warm to say the least. Our waitress Brianna was never anywhere to be found! Had to flag down another waitress to get our bill. Brianna then was bothered to ring us out. Then had the gall to charge an extra tip on my credit card that she did not deserve at all! I am not happy at all! Have attempted to contact the restaurant and unable to reach! Ridiculous! Would give negative stars if possible!!!!!

Stopped in for breakfast while on a weekend trip and got seated within a few minutes of walking in. There was only one waitress working at the time, it was early, probably before 0730. The waitress was fantastic. She was efficient, friendly and for as busy as she was she did not act as though she was stressed or upset that she was by herself like most people would being in her place. I've worked in the restaurant business and have personally witness how most act when they get as busy as she was and she did phenomenal. The food came out fast and it was exactly as we ordered it. Very happy with our stop here and would definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant for a meal! Kudos to the waitress for doing such an outstanding job...I wish I knew her name to recognize her but unfortunately I don't.

Very dirty place! The host was the waiter and when she took us to the table we saw that more than three tables with food left unclean and floor not been cleaned for a quite some time. No one bothered themselves to clean before take new customers. Definitely, we just left because if the front was like this how would the kitchen be like!!?? The place didn’t smelled not like a restaurant at all.

Good food... just took awhile. This was my first visit to IHOP Steelyard Location. Many people were not pleased about the wait and walked out. We stayed, and our patience was rewarded with delicious omelets. This location was understaffed. The server was very nice, though.

Hostess was not very attentive Waitress was great. Food not so good. Hash browns were barely brown, cold and tasted like they were still raw. Ham was dry. Bacon too fatty and gooey. Sausage just ok. Eggs were ok. Pancakes were good. It’s hard to mess them up when they come from a box. I do not recommend.

So being optimistic despite the reviews I went into IHOP for lunch on Tuesday 1/16. It was just before 3 and I understood why it wasn't very busy given the cold weather that everyone in Cleveland was feeling. And honestly...I had a very good time in there. My server was very kind and while the service wasn't terrible, there's definitely room for improvement (such as a long wait for a simple refill of my drink) The food....I had the Nashville chicken and waffles and three stack buttermilk pancakes....there were absolutely delicious!!! It felt like it was prepared and cooked with care. I truly hope those running this restaurant can take the bad reviews as a learning experience that if you have the right people running the establishment, then people won't be turning away from IHOP because the food is actually very wonderful. So thank you for a great lunch....just improve the waiting for simple refills.

The dining room was practically empty but still took 5 minutes to be seated. Server never introduced himself. (Still don't know his name) they were out of chicken fried steak, which is what I went there for. I ended up getting a Colorado omelet and after 20 minutes, it was served and was less than desirable to look at. At that point, I didn't want to wait anymore. I ate and the server checked in me once...that's it. When I finished. I waited 5 minutes for my check. (never got it) went to the cashier to pay and the sever shows up to take my money. He didn't ask me how the meal was overall. (Pretty sure he knew) Definitely won't be back to this location.

Terrible service and food here. Place was empty and we stood at the hostess stand for almost 10 min waiting for the hostess. I was with a 7 year old. We get our table and they give him a Wonka coloring mat with all the specials and then told us they were no longer available. Waited 30 min for our food. Server showed up 1 time. I requested no mushrooms and my omelette was loaded with them. She never even came back to check on us so I could tell her. She brings the check and where it said gratuity, she wrote an arrow and pointed to the 25%. Who does that?? Then it took forever to get a container. Just don't even bother.

Food was barely edible. The only thing I was able to get down was the hash browns. Toast was fried(?) and tasted of literal grease. Service was horrible. Sat with our plates stacked for almost 10 minutes before our server stopped to ask if we wanted the check. Didn’t check on how the food was or if we needed refills. If I could have given 0 stars I would have.

Most awful experience. When we pulled up we thought place was closed. Very dark.Waited for someone to seat us Could not find any one.I happened to go to restroom. There was a girl on the phone to her Mom, who she kept referring to and complaining on phone that she is treated like slave here. She was fed up and she was going to go home.. She the one who surpose to seat you to your table. She finally got off phone and seated us. The restroom floors were very dirty and not clean.I have seen outhouses cleaner. The place had a table with 2 adults and a child They waited forever for there food They got there food and left right after My food hash brown burnt. My daughter wanted waffles Waitress came back and said we don't have waffles only pancakes Will never go back

Went inside with my two kids and parents after trip to the zoo. There was no one at register. We walked around, shouted HELLOOO and stood at the cash register for about ten minutes until we left. We couldn’t find any workers at all and restaurant was vacant . We ended up leaving because the only car in parking lot (besides ours) had a guy with his door open and visibly shooting up drugs with a syringe. It was 530 pm on a Tuesday. We left and I saw a woman behind the restaurant with the door propped open smoking.

Restaurant was short staffed. We agreed to a 45 minute wait. But when we found out that people who were already seated were waiting an hour or more to get their orders we left.

I had a disappointing experience at IHOP recently. The restaurant was notably dirty, the service was lacking, and the wait staff wore dirty street clothes. My order of pancakes took an exceptionally long time to arrive, contributing to an overall uncomfortable atmosphere. In the end, I left without getting my meal due to the unsatisfactory conditions of the place. Sadly I can’t recommend it.

I stood in the lobby for 20 minutes and not one employee approached me to ask me what I needed. I was wanting to use my gift card but was unable to place an order while inside the store. Also I tried to call the store while I was in the lobby hoping to be able to place my order that way. Unfortunately there phone just continued to ring and then just dropped the call altogether. It's not like I didn't see any employees, because I did see four different ones in the dining room; where it appeared to only have three tables to be taken care of. I was looked at directly several times by the employees but no one cared to take care of me!!! If I could give negative stars I would. I don't know how this store is still open!!!!! Don't waste your time....

MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR RECEIPT!! The waitress charged an additional $30 meal to our credit card after we paid. The food was great, the chef is also the manager who was very friendly and helpful. Service was initially fine til seeing she put another separate meal on us.

My mother and I visited IHOP in the Steelyard around 7pm. The store looked like it was closed at first, until we got into the parking lot. There was virtually no customer's. Upon entering the restaurant we greeted immediately by, what turned out to be, our waitress. She was extremely nice and answered the few questions we had about the crepe meals knowledgeably. The store was very clean and pleasant atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely attentive but not to the point of being annoying. We left extremely satisfied and will most definitely visit this restaurant again!!!

The staff was nice. It took the good a long time to arrive. The food was exactly as I remembered it to taste... like an average breakfast. Good, but not great.

  • 3/5 Janice S. 10 months ago on Google
My friend and I were mislead by the number of cars in the parking lot. Patrons were at only three tables in the large restaurant. We were expecting a fantastic breakfast. Instead, the coffee was weak and my scrambled eggs and her over eggs looked much the same and were over cooked, and dry. The bacon was crisp in some places but barely cooked in others. Our service was okay and the restaurant was clean, but we will not be returning.

We went in for breakfast, ordered with no problem, waited a little over an hour to no avail for our food. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. We were told the wait was because there was only 1 cook, which seems to be the norm here, judging from previous reviews. On the positive, the waitress was nice, and they didn't charge us for the coffee and tea (we did notify the staff that we were leaving) I wouldn't recommend this ihop because of the long wait times. I cant judge the food because of the obvious. By the way, there were only our 3 top and 1 other 4 top table at the restaurant during this encounter.

This location is not open for dining in at 11pm on Saturday. Take out only. The lady that helped me had a choker that was studded with spikes. I found this very pleasing, and I imagine she could have used it as a weapon if I had been an assailant and not a customer.

Terrible. No enthusiasm from the staff. We were told it would take just a couple minutes to be seated. Wound up taking 20 for two people. We both ordered pancakes and waited an hour+ for them. And the place is far from busy. Servers just wandering around doing nothing. Completely unacceptable.

Let's just say the place needs new management.......i never seen a place that's not organized. With some true leadership, this IHOP could get back on track. ....please eat before you come, because the wait is crazy.

Very slow. We were seated quickly and the drink wait wasn't too bad. But the food took forever. Waitress wouldn't come around to refill drinks while we waited. We finally got up and left and went somewhere else. Waitresses were standing around talking.

It's IHOP, so my expectations were not high. But the service was very good, efficient and friendly. The food was much better than I have had at other locations. The building and dining room are a bit worn and over due for some maintenance but overall it was a good experience.

When I walked in, there were drinking straw wrappers on the floor at the host desk. There was no host. Although there were only four or five tables seated, it took about 10 minutes for one of the two servers who was working to seat me. There was trash on the floor (a napkins and more straw wrappers) near my booth. The second booth from mine was empty but wasn't cleared of its dirty dishes until I was ready to leave. My server arrived after a reasonable amount of time. She was friendly. I didn't have to wait very long to order. My silverware was very dirty. I sent it back two times. The second time there was food on the knife. I ordered coffee and protein pancakes. The coffee arrived right away. It tasted good but could have been hotter. It took longer than seemed necessary for the pancakes to arrive considering they were the only food I ordered. They were slightly warm, not hot, upon arrival. They were very tasty. But, obviously, would have been better hot. I asked my server for syrup and more butter. I waited about five minutes for the manager to bring the butter. The server brought the syrup. So my pancakes cooled off even more before I started eating them. The entire time I was there there were only five tables seated, including mine. The two servers were pleasant but five tables between them was hardly a rush. From what I saw, there was no one bussing tables except the manager. No one cleaned the trash off the floors. I suspect the manager was also the cook which explains why food arrived so late and why the restaurant wasn't as clean as it should have been -- the restaurant was under staffed. Lastly, there was no soap in the women's restroom. The soap dispenser had been ripped of the wall and was gone. When I informed the manager he said, "Thank you for bringing that to my attention." How long had he been unaware that the restroom lacked soap? It was early afternoon. He should have checked the restroom before opening. It should have been cleaned the night before. That's when the soap issue should have been discovered. This was the worst restaurant I can recall ever dining at.

Food was good but not very hot when it came out. I love their omelettes and they didn't disappoint. Our server was pretty good. Other customers in the dining area were not always aware of how loud they may have been, but that's not IHOP's fault.

  • 3/5 Medusa S. 2 years ago on Google
The family went to dine-in for brunch & enjoyed themselves. They brought me my order home for takeout. IHOP ran out of waffles so they substituted w/French toast. The French toast was dried up & the chicken fingers were overcooked & 1 was broken up. We called to tell them it was unacceptable..So they made a fresh reorder. .. At least 🤦‍♀️

I just couldn't believe my eyes. First of all I'm a chef and a restaurant when me and my lady walked in to be seated the first mistake I seen was the server a nice young lady great attitude but she had on a nasty dirty shirt very un professional but it's not even her fault it starts with management first with awareness how their employees or dressed when dealing with customers I didn't want to even order to eat but was hungry and that's what my girl wanted I like this place but you really need to focus a little on dress code
