Really really enjoyed Big Al’s - it’s such a diner and really does well to add value to the neighborhood. Food portions are generous and some unique items on the me menu including potato pancakes

This diner here is a hit for sure. It is an old hole in the wall type of place. You can see the history in the building. On the smaller end when it comes to space but the wait wasn't too long. The staff as a whole was wonderful from start to finish. Our server was super, and forgive me for not remembering your name, sweetness. The food came in a timely fashion. Everything was how we ordered, fresh and hot. Anytime I'm here, I am stopping by. Great job to everyone for making this a fabulous first visit.

Okay now normally I’d never give a diner style place five stars but this place is an exception. This is our first time eating here but it will not be the last. They use quality ingredients and to say the portions are generous is an understatement, their sign says “come hungry” and they’re not kidding. The oversized English muffin is worth it alone.

Hey guys, this was not my first time but, my first time in many years! So it felt like the first time. The service was wonderful! both the waiter and the waitress were pleasant. The food was amazing!! The pancakes was bigger than my face! The turkey sausage was really good. The eggs were okay but, they have these pancake patties with sour cream that are great! Coffee ☕ was great! THEY PLACE itself is very tiny. But they have dividers and booths. Which were mostly filled. Showed me that there MUST be something to keep all these people! I wish I would have taken pictures but I wasn't fully awake😔 NEXT TIME! BECAUSE THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME.😁

I was pretty hungry after work, so I ordered a bunch of stuff - the corned beef hash with white bread, the French Toast with eggs and sausages, and a side of home fries. I underestimated how big the home fries was, and it was basically the size of a meal. The food was fantastic! I loved the French Toast, and all the eggs were cooked exactly how I like it. The corned beef hash was pretty good, overall, but after finishing it, I felt like it was a little bland. My favorite part was the bread for some reason, just something about the butter and the softness of the bread just really did it for me. I really recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

I've been waiting to go to this place for a while. The line is always so long to get in. It lived up to the rep. Good food, fast. The service was great too

I, personally, wouldn’t say the prices are as cheap as many diners in the area. That’s not to say the prices aren’t cheap though. Any time that I come here, I think about the food for a few days. The portions are great. I couldn’t get here enough to try everything. I haven’t had anything here that was less than great. My favorite recently is the country scramble. Country gravy with sausage and scrambled eggs over muffins. The way they serve their home fries is very unique. Sliced onions and peppers on top. If you’re looking for sweet, I’d recommend the waffles with strawberries. The staff are always very nice even if they’re super busy. They do absolutely get pretty busy on the weekends.

I can't believe how long I've lived up here and haven't ever eaten here! My husband and I had breakfast here for our 22nd anniversary and it was so good. I had the corned beef hash omelette and he had french toast. The portion sizes are huge. You definitely get your money's worth. Our server was very attentive to our needs and checked on us frequently. I'm sorry I can't remember your name, but thank you so much! This is another place on my list of restaurants where I'm going to try the whole menu.

I have been here several times in the last few months and have never been disappointed. It is a fairly small diner, but people are in and out quickly, and the food comes out within minutes after you order (it feels like that at least!). The staff stays friendly and sweet even when breakfast hours are chaotic. I love the waffles and Eggs Benedict!

Big Al's is always my favorite breakfast place. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. The food is always hot and fresh and I've never had a bad experience here. I remember when I went to Life skills down the street. I would always stop here for the homefries with onions and pepper and a side of bacon. I've tried other things on the menu like the potato pancakes, but nothing compares to my fav. The #1 or #2 which is eggs, homefries, with sausage/bacon. Doesn't matter which one I get because I always get a side of the breakfast meat that doesn't come with it. The procedure has always been reasonable even though I remember when it was once $5. It's now $9.75 but even if it went up to $20 I'd still get it.

Glad to have found this little neighborhood gem. Was transporting a patient to the Cleveland Clinic for an appt and had some time to kill so looked for something other than one of the big chain restaurants. Service quick, friendly, with a smile. But WAY too much food. Asked for two eggs scrambled, crispy bacon, and home fries. Look what I got! Enough for two people! Not complaining, just exclaiming, I couldn't eat it all. So go here for fast friendly service, but. Take your big appetite with you!

One word yummy!!! We are from Lansing, MI and wanted pancakes. We read the reviews on Big Al's and we were not disappointed. It was amazing, their atmosphere is old school diner. Be prepared you may be seated with other wonderful people. Pancakes were the size of your head, bacon was crispy and home fries yummy. If in the area, try Big Al's out you will not be disappointed!!

DISGUSTING! Place was filthy as ever. Food was so nasty, my stomach hurt immediately after! My daughters as well. I asked for a medium well steak and they gave me the hardest steak possible. I’m so disappointed. Absolutely worst place ever 🤢

Visited Big Al’s many times over the last few years and it is consistently the best diner breakfast food around. Their prices are reasonable, you get big portions and the service is fantastic! Love the breakfast combos, omelets and especially the strawberry-topped pancakes. Best time to go is either right when they open or around 11 am to avoid the big weekend rush.

Never thought I'd give a 1 star review to Big Al's. But, I have to today. Called at 1:00 to place a carry out order. Was told they stopped taking phone orders. Fair enough. I then asked if I had until 1:30 to place a dine-in order, or a carry out order at the location. Was told, "Yes" over the phone. I showed up to a locked door at 1:18. Tried to flag employees down just to clarify why they were closing early. Finally they came to the door. Told them I called in advance, or I would have went elsewhere. I'm between jobs and most diners close by 2:00. If the person on the phone told me how they operated in advance, I would have went elsewhere. But, it's too late for me to go to another breakfast diner and make my next appointment. That's why I called in the first place. Did nothing to try to rectify the situation/miscommunication on their end. This is a Cleveland/Larchmere staple that's been around forever. Unfortunately, it will be a long while before I come back. The treatment was off-putting. Bad business on there end.

I love eating here. I live right around the corner, and it's become my number one place for morning breakfast. Always busy, but service is fast and the wait is never long. Food is always amazing.

This is a fantastic local place! The staff is incredibly efficient and friendly, giving off a high-energy vibe. I loved the French toast combo! Everything was delicious!

I took my neighbor for some breakfast, I've never been before. I told her I'll try them out! Ordered a French toast combo w/ bacon and everything tasted wonderful! The workers were nice and the prices I think are some of the best around! Big Al's destroys Gyro George's if you were wondering!

Food great! The restaurant was too small and everyone is sitting on top of each other. Service was very, very, very slow and I ordered take out 😭

Ive been coming here for a few years now. its real cool. It the East sides response to The Place To Be. Both spots are kinda small but that never hurts the experience, service or food. They both have great prices.. Three of us had breakfast together just this morning at Big Als the check eas $30 flat and the food is always so fast. It takes them about the same amount of time to deliver the food to your table as it would take you to eat the meal- I guess I kinda eat fast now that I think about it.. Take cash because you just gotta leave a nice tip, they deserve it. Head straight home after you eat because the food there is very hardy. I don't know about all those fancy and fangled vegan and organic options that are en vogue now I just get a healthy substantial breakfast for a man when ever i go there. no pics, i never take pics of food here, i often fo busy eating.

This place is amazing, it is your sort of older ways best kept, secret on the block, but it is no secret. The place gets packed! And the wait, is well worth it. The employees are very polite, and respectful and courteous to its customers! Well worth the dining experience if you are in the Cleveland area!!

A definitive Cle staple. I've always loved this place, they serve amazing food and the staff have always been kind. I recommend corn beef hash, home fries, or pancakes. 10/10

The food was gross! Smaller portions for more money… nothing like it used to be. Pancakes were dry and hard as bricks, eggs were dry, corned beef hash was half a portion size with bits of corned beef for almost $9.00! A waste of $18.00 altogether. The only good thing was the sausage links.

Usually at Big Al’s we have a good experience where the food comes out quick and hot. Today we sat there for an hour waiting on our food as 3 other tables received food that came after we were taken. The waitress never checked in on us and we were never offered any help after our order was taken. When we finally stopped the other waitress to ask about our food, the waitress who took our order informed us our order was never placed and the kitchen is now closed. Why we had to wait an hour to find this out about our order and how she was never aware we didn’t get our food is very confusing. We look forward to our next order to be fully paid for as she said she would, or it will be our last time coming back.
