Finally stopped in after passing them up for 10 years lol. I'm a early bird, and I finally found a place that open at 5am. Its like a neighborhood diner. There breakfast is decent and you can order other foods in the morning too. Waitress is super nice too! Highly recommended! I'm going back for a cheeseburger for lunch lol.

Shays Restaurant is a treasure of Cleveland. The food is great and the portions are better. It's amazing comfort food made just the way you like..The breakfast is my favorite but they also make great burgers! Along the wall you see authentic signs that have been around since they've opened which makes it more wonderful. The servers are friendly and the owner comes around to make sure everyone is enjoying their visit. Shay' s is definitely a favorite a mine and I will always be back!

Food was excellent! My husband ordered the pork chops and eggs and ate it before I got to take the picture 😂! I ordered french toast which I also ate before the picture and the bacon with half and half called the "Shay's Special" Staff is also wonderful 😊 Our new breakfast place!

It maybe a hole in the wall, but has steady traffic and stayed busy. Though even though it was busy, the food came out in under 10 minutes. The staff is super friendly and ensuring that the food taste good. It cost $23 for the two of us. The food was very filling and just as delicious. I would highly recommend this spot if you can get past the interior, because it’s worth sitting down and enjoying the food.

Your local hole in the wall diner where the food is plenty and very good!! They offer pork chops for breakfast here....and the prices are just right!

Speed kills... and I was hungry and the food came out quickly. And I was with a party of 8 I had pancakes..eggs..homefries and beef sausage. Now for me the beef sausage was dry I didn't like it but everything else was great... we had a variety of food and over all my party enjoyed it all... Next time I visit Cleveland I will be back

Met a friend for breakfast a week ago Restaurant definitely needs a deep cleaning something triggered my allergies so bad I couldn’t really enjoy my friend or my food and has a bit of a gnat problem but my food was decent just not what I remember haven’t been there in 15+ years! Will give them another try in the future my server was great I tipped her 30%….

The food was good and the portions were perfect. Loved the hot chocolate and the servers were helpful and nice.

Just ordered Pizza for our company…. Who would’ve thought a killer diner would have some of the best grandma’s pizza you could ask for! Can’t go wrong with this place wish I could give them more stars….

Probably the best Cleveland restaurants offering great down-home, good quality food. It's a family owned restaurant with sound service. I say this as a customer who first ate here in the mid-80s (yep, that other century). I / we especially enjoy breakfast and lunch here. Also, love the family members!

My fiance and I were in Cleveland for the Browns game and woke up early Sunday. Most places near us were either closed or too fancy, and then we found Shay’s. This is your typical little breakfast joint. The service here was great! The woman who served our table was extremely kind and efficient. She was talking to her other guests by name so you can tell she knows her regulars. She made sure we were good to go throughout our meal and really boosted the atmosphere. The food could use a little salt and pepper but it’s also nice that it’s not overly seasoned so you can season it yourself to your liking. We were able to sit immediately and the food came out so fast. We both very much enjoyed our breakfast and time here and will be returning when we need a breakfast spot in Cleveland! The only thing is it could be a little cleaner. We sat near the window and the blinds were pretty dirty. So a deep cleaning couldn’t hurt. BUT the booth, seats, forks, cups, and plates were clean and I don’t eat off the blinds so whatever. Definitely recommend this place for many reasons! We’re looking forward to returning.

Best grits in town! You will not find another diner that is more Cleveland than this place. Stepping in here is like stepping back to late 80s Cleveland, a place like heaven, where all peoples from all walks of life gather for good food, good vibes, and beloved community. You can feed 6 adults for under $75!

I've been going to this place for over 20 years but, sometimes the food isn't on point this is the 1st of January 2023 and the food was Luke warm even though I had to wait forever for my order, the home fried potatoes were like mashed potatoes but crispy on top. IDK, Maybe they have a new cook or something but, I was NOT pleased on this day, I do not recommend the French toast with the Shays special breakfast meal but instead, get the big fluffy pancakes with it, you only get 3 little bitty triangle cut pieces of the French toast instead of 2 slices cut in half and they were very slow serving us on this day.

Being from Lafayette LA. there is the strong side of me that prefers to eat at a quintessential home cooked, served meal. This place has patina of long commitment to neighbors and neighborhood. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you enjoy what i just described. Comfort food and comfortable atmosphere..

I've always liked this family owned place. I have been keto/ultra low carb for quite some time and they actually have options for beef sausage (hard to find) instead of pork. I usually get the Shay Burger with no bun and a couple of eggs on the side. They pretty much have anything you would want at a breakfast/lunch place and the prices are very fair.

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed this place. Service was stellar. Simple diner, with great food and very fast, friendly service. My teenage sons commented that the staff made you feel like "people, not just customers".

I've been going to Shays for, and this is my first review! The staff always makes me feel like family when I come there. I feel like I'm home. Their food is still good as always. Today we ordered a Shay burger and fries and a grilled corned beef with fries. My sandwich ( The Shay burger) was cooked to perfection! Delicious from beginning to the end. I really go there for the coffee and the food is awesome. It's a win-win for me as always! BLUE ordered the corned beef with fires. He loved it! The prices was truly affordable and a place we will be going to again! 😉

Food was amazing..Need to work on the service though. We waited 15 minutes for water and menus. My dad was visiting the hometown and he didn't feel like going elsewhere especially since it was the holiday and other mom & pop diners weren't open or he wasn't familiar with.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years. Love the relax atmosphere. The staff is friendly, approachable, down to earth. I love when I come by myself or with my children, there is no hesitation they make you feel welcomed. Thr food is phenomenal. They are exceptional they serve beef bacon. I don't eat pork so this is a special place. Caters to all.
