👍👍 I visited this place twice and always seen this store closed & I always wanted to try them and finally I caught them on time and got to try their sweets - literally the most cutest & detailed deserts and it tastes soooo good and so worth coming back for. The macaroons were all mainly vanilla filling... People often mention donuts, good, flavor, worth, cream, flavors, mochi, sesame,

I absolutely love Kai Sweets! It’s my favorite part of going to Mitsuwa! They are all so friendly and have such amazing mochi donuts! They have a solid selection of regular flavors that are available all of the time and then they frequently do new limited edition flavors. Just recently they had a pineapple flavor to celebrate the summer and it was soooo tasty! My favorite flavors are the yuzu citrus and strawberry. I also really like the black sesame and the double taro whenever they have it available. There’s another new flavor they’ve done a few times but I always seem to miss it; key lime pie! Definitely want to try that one. If you follow their Instagram they will announce what special flavors they are doing for the day if any so it’s definitely worth following them :)

I visited this place twice and always seen this store closed & I always wanted to try them and finally I caught them on time and got to try their sweets - literally the most cutest & detailed deserts and it tastes soooo good and so worth coming back for. The macaroons were all mainly vanilla filling except the Pikachu which was lemon flavor and the oreo crumble one which had mousse filling. The mochi donuts were out of this world especially the sesame (which I found surprising because of how odd it is) & the matcha. The other flavors are cinnamon, strawberry, ube & oreo cookie - which were good too don’t get me wrong. The customer service was quick and handled well. Every dollar spent was worth it (:

Never going back to any other donuts. Kai Sweets makes the best mochi donuts around! The flavor variety comes from whatever is available that day and is super fresh, not greasy. The chewiness and sweetness is just right 👌 I probably go there every other weekend with my friends just to eat donuts and walk along the river.

I've become a big fan of mochi donuts and order some when the opportunity presents itself. Mochi donuts have a more doughy texture than regular donuts (as opposed to cake batter or bread like in regular donuts) and a milder, less sweet flavor. But they are amazing and this location has some of the best I've ever tasted. Definitely worth a try if you're lucky enough to be here!

This place has - by far - the best Mochi Donuts I’ve ever had. They are freshly made everyday, they offer a variety of flavors (my favorites are dark chocolate and Oreo) and they basically melt in your mouth. They are in high demand and sell out pretty quickly, so be sure to grab a box or two if you’re in the area because these donuts are - an experience. Check out their hours of operation too so you don’t miss out. Enjoy!

This is only a review of the Mochi Donut side of Kai Sweets. One of the best donuts I’ve had don’t feel guilty about eating. The donuts do start to get hard if you keep them more than a day after they are baked from the store. So these are best enjoyed as quickly as you can after buying them. Flavors can be limited as some flavors need more time and come out at noon but the early morning flavor might sell out if you wait. I haven’t tried the crepe and tea section of Kai Sweets yet. I love the donuts but they are higher in price like premium flavor Krispy Kreme donuts.

Delicious donuts. Much denser and chewier than your typical donut but in a very good way. A bit pricey, but price is worth the product. Thank you!

The ice cream shop is located inside Mitsuwa market place. I tried the black sesame ice cream and it was good. It wasn’t too busy but you had to wait awhile. IMO it’s not really worth it after you consider the wait, the cost, and how much ice cream you get (see how empty the cup is)

Delicious soft donuts. Had them in Japan 🇯🇵 and just loved them. When I saw them here I had to try them and they were absolutely amazing. Not many flavours to choose from but was happy with my purchase. I had orange chocolate flavour and strawberry flavour 🍓. Cute little shop with friendly staff. Thank you 😊

The bubble tea was so good I got the Taro with Coconut and Pearls and the Oreo Milk with Coffee Jelly. Delicious, friendly staff and would definitely come back for more. I want to try the other flavor they have to offer there and the crepes that they make too! Get the large it’s worth it for the extra .25 cents it costs.

This mochi donut is genuine! There are several places in Queens, run by Koreans, try to mimic but just taste different while missing something, but this one is so good and delicious, chewy but not too sweet & oily. It is too bad that I’m living in Queens and cannot make a trip to there more often.

Really tasty delicious donuts! Got a couple of different ones but by the time I remembered to take a picture most were already eaten! I liked their green tea, and oreo cookie, but the strawberry glaze I thought was the best! Definitely worth trying. Although I will say they are just a tiniesttt smidge too chewy, other then that these donuts are delightful

Excellent mochi donuts with a few different flavors to choose from. Special price if you order a half dozen. Also offers bubble tea, crepes and very cute macarons. Everything was tasty!

OMG. Donuts are amazing. Met the owner. Great guy great energy. It’s great to have a Mochi donut shop on River Road. This is in the Mitsua supermarket and absolutely worth the wait in line.

I'm reviewing the ice cream shop - there was both an ice cream section and a section for general sweets. The ice cream was really delicious, it actually didn't have an ice cream texture or flavor so maybe it's more accurate to call it gelato? We ordered four ice cream total, all of different flavours. I tried the sesame one and it was really great, a softer and not as gritty texture as some sesame ice creams. The topping called "Mont Blanc" is the spaghetti looking stuff in the photo - this seemed popular but I didn't get to try it. What's good there is that you can ask for a different flavour of topping versus your base ice cream, so you get to try two flavours! They only have 5 (sesame, purple potato, matcha, strawberry, pineapple) so you would get to try a good portion of their flavour offerings by doing so.

KAI has multiple stalls inside Mitsuwa and they’re pretty good. I had their purple potato(?) or maybe Yam soft serve and it’s very good! Unlike regular soft serve, it’s very creamy and thick for a soft serve. Definitely will come back for it.

I had these adorable Kirby and Pokemon inspired macarons at an event held a few months ago. Not only were they so cute, but they were delicious, too! I would check them out to see their other items available as well as the other designs they have for their macarons.

Though the name suggests just sweets, they've got proper meals too - in this case, in pandemic takeaway presentation, a tonkatsu with curry meal. It's actually my go to when I hit up Mitsuwa Marketplace; that and a iced coffee to go with it! The curry is just the right amount of heat, I love it. Edit, 2 years later: Still super good! They still give all their meals packed for take, out, but this is good even for eating at Mitsuwa proper. :9
