This place has gotten progressively worse, price increases and smaller portion sizes will be The Halal Guys’ downfall. People who’ve known about them for a long time know that they’ve begun to care less about the customer and more about how they can increase their profit margins. Nobody wants to spend more money for less food and the shift from 8 dollars for a full plate to 11 dollars for nearly half a plate over the course of a few years is insulting to the consumer.

The halal guys are always nice, but the gentleman at this location was a step above. Receipt says Abdelghany. He was so friendly. I ordered falafel, he was nice enough to ask if I’m vegan to let me know the bread isn’t. Fortunately I’m not, but it was really nice he asked. Service was just great. Food was great. Great prices. Fountain soda machine. I always make a point to visit these guys when in New York. And Abdelghany just confirmed what I’ve known for almost 20 years- The halal guys are different!

Not as good as back in the day, but that could be because I’m not black out drunk or high eating this anymore. Most of the time, anyway. Quality: 3.5/5 Portion to $: 4 Destination: no, unless it’s 2am Falafel: 2- horrible Beef: 4 Chicken: 3 Lamb(special): 4 Pro tip: the regular is worth a $1 more for what you get and need. Ordering through the app, is hit or miss. Sometimes, they have it ready. Other times, you get there, you are waiting. It’s frustrating. That said, the service here has fallen off. The crew can be rude and ratchet. Don’t bother eating here unless you can’t stand their behavior.

I’ve ordered this place like 1/2 times a week for the past year and a half. Thank you for keeping me alive. Regular chicken over rice no tomatoes, white sauce 3 strips hot sauce w/ side pita OR fries. God bless

We always eat at halal guys in midtown. And its our first time to try here in upper west side. Kinda got surprised for the price and the portion of food. Its more expensive and less serving than the one in the cart in midtown. But I mean, they got their place and own store so maybe that’s why its reasonable that they need to be price higher. The place is clean, we did dine in. We might come back if we’re around the area. PS: they got a lot of dine in tables. Maybe around 5 tables inside, and there’s a bunch of tables outside.

I have had dinner there, ordered chicken gyro platter and rice, food was good and tasty they give food which was enough for 2 persons, there are different type of sauces, I mistakenly asked to put chili sauce more in it that became super spicy meal, atmosphere is ambient and quite. I recommend this when you visiting or living around Amsterdam Ave.

Delicious food and great staff. The "uniform discount" gets you a sandwich for less than $10, which is great. The chicken was fresh, the vegetables were crispy, this is a good chain for consistently good food. The staff members are so sweet, I did not know about the discount and they noticed my stethoscope and asked! I showed my ID and got a huge discount! I will be back for quick lunch here in future! Also, they have a bathroom that is very clean.

Service was okay. One of my combos has no rice. That is one of the main components of the combo with rice. Please check they put all the ingredients before you pay for it.

First time I tried The Halal Guys, couple years ago at midtown location from cart and was not a good experience. This time I probably came to the right spot. Food was delicious, especially sauce made even better. I ordered falafel sandwich and chicken platter. Both were very delicious. Definitely recommend it.

So, I ordered up The Halal Guys on a delivery app recently and it was a total flavor explosion! I got the combo platter (enough to feed 2-4 people). The meat was super juicy and super flavorful, served with saffron rice that's on point. Their famous white sauce and hot sauce pair perfectly with the platter! Honestly, I ordered this at 1AM and was surprised with the quality at such an hour! They also gave us some free falafels with our order which was an unexpected treat! If you’re trying to stay away from meat, these falafels a delicious substitute! The fries were a basic crinkle cut and the cheesecake was okay. The baklava on top of the cheesecake gets soggy so maybe it’s just not my thing. Overall, I think if you’re in NYC you gotta visit this iconic restaurant for some tasty Halal food. The staff was cool and attentive, and the vibe of the place was just right – perfect for a chill meal with friends or a quick solo bite. Honestly, if you're into Middle Eastern grub or just craving something awesome, give The Halal Guys a shot. You won't regret it!

Best to order takeout because the dining in experience is miserable. Great food but unpleasant customer service. Bad energy, staff barks at customers and eachother. Just asking to use the bathroom became a production.

This is my second time having “The Halal Guys” after hearing so many positive reviews from friends and family. My first experience was when I went to Buffalo and the Falafel was amazing but the service was horrible! A little disappointed, I decided to give them the benefit of doubt and try again. And I’m happy to say I’m SUPER HAPPY!!! The quality of food was pretty good but the customer service from Hadejah (I hope I spelled that correctly) was AMAZING!!! As soon as I enter the restaurant I was greeted with a smile and was given a breakdown of all my options. Having a plant-base diet (vegan) I was a little nervous of what to order but Hadejah was very knowledgeable and patient. Not only was she extremely helpful she was intentional and even deterred me from getting the Naan because sometimes they warmed it up on the grill (which at the moment had meat on it). My service was 100/10 🤩! Thank you Hadejah!!!

Simple yet delicious. Staff was friendly and the place was very clean. Their meats are super juicy and flavorful. Never skip on the white sauce and the red sauce definitely has a kick.

We were going back after a while. The place is just not clean, they are completely disorganized, and they do not take care. If you are a vegetarian be careful. They drop meat in rice, lettuce etc and if you point that out the manager says that is how it is and if you want something that’s completely vegetarian you need for 30 minutes! Very rude manager who kept insisting that this is the only way Halal Guys works. The food did not seem fresh either.

Honestly like this more than the original cart location. You can sit down and eat properly, and portions are solid. My only complaint is that I wish you can put sauces yourself. Be aware they try to charge you for extra packets of sauce. I do like the options of stuff you can add to the food (onions, peppers, etc).

Always enjoy their platter. Staff was excellent gave me 2 free packets of white sauce which are usually not free.

What can I say about Halal Guys that's not already known? Delicious food, always there when you need it. I will shout out to Marshall who was super friendly and gave us great service with a big smile and made a normal meal buying transaction a fun experience!! Thanks Marshall!

Great spot to satisfy that midnight halal craving. They're open until really late at night and their employees are generally really friendly. My last visit however, a male employee insisted that my friend take a platter that was already sitting on the side. He kept telling him that it was prepared "just now" and pushed my friend to take it even though he asked for a brand new one. The whole thing was really off-putting especially since I've come to expect friendly and professional staff members from this spot.

Absolutely horrible attitude by the service staff. When I asked for small platter he gave us the bigger one, and when we asked for a little more hot sauce he dumped the whole bottle into it as if he has a feud with us. Any food cart near the area has better service and doesn't make food to harm the customer.

While the food is generally good, my order has never been correct when I’ve ordered it via the app. Additionally, the order is always at least 10 minutes later than the promise time on the app. If possible, I would suggest ordering from other locations via the app. The in store service is slow but otherwise acceptable.

I have never myself ordered here or been in the restaurant, but I had to look it up because my fiance brought home 2 Flatbread sandwiches from this store and I fell in love, decently gonna try more of their food. Delicious!

In 2020 I went to NYC for the first time and ate from one of their stands and I absolutely loved it, so when I came back in August 2022, I couldn't wait to eat their food again. This time around I went to this location and I was very disapointed. I ordered one of the plate meals and the portion was extremely small, like 200 grams, filling up mayhe half of the container. Your average shawarma place would give you a portion three times larger. Not to mention the food tasted horrible this time. Huge disapointment.
