Nice pub very warm welcome. Seating benches outside the front and private beer garden at the back. Plenty real ales to choose from. The only downside was that they wouldn't allow small tastes of the ales. As someone who is just starting to try different ales and you rarely see the same ale twice in any pub so mainly most are new to you..it's Russian roulette as to whether you'd like a particular ale so tiny amount testing is paramount so you don't end up with a pint you really don't like. We have a motorhome and travel the UK extensively and sadly this is the first pub we've ever come across refusing small testers and I think it's something that needs looking at. We had two different ales each neither were really to our taste but we were reluctant to try anymore so we left and went to the pub next door and they were happy to offer testers. Otherwise lovely wee pub.

Real traditional English pub where everyone talks to each other! The beer is fantastic and good value for money. We are always welcome there. Thank you

Went to Holmes Mill for a pint and, as usual, got fed up waiting whilst two staff were run ragged and another stood there drying cups. Moving on, I called at New Inn. As always, got a friendly welcome and enjoyed a quality pint of Moorehouses White Witch. Lovely pub, which is a constant in an ever changing Clitheroe scene. Will be here long after the Mill has gone bust.....

Fantastic survivor of a pub. A true multi-room gem of a place that still has three individual rooms, two at the front, then the bar with lobby seating, finally a small room at the rear. All are neatly presented with plenty of comfortable seating. Decoration is sympathetic to the Victorian period when this pub was probably built. Very friendly service, and great selection of cask ales. Good view of the castle from here. Highly recommended.

However, very surprised that they don't allow tasters of beers. I wasn't asking for a third, just a taste of the Coach House Brewery; Blueberry bitter. As the answer was no, I went for a pint of the Saltaire Brewery; Blonde and Pendle Brewery; Pride of Pendle, both of which we knew we liked.

This is a near perfect pub opposite Clitheroe castle. A large selection of real ales merits the listing in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Lovely multi room interior. Outdoor seating to front and back. Friendly and welcoming. Would love it to be my local.

We stumbled across this pub and to our surprise and joy there was live Irish music being played in like a jamming session. It was great. When we can get back there we will. It was a great afternoon.

Quirky pub with many rooms, folk/fiddle group playing in one of them excellent range of well kept real ales and tables front and back with big gazebo out back, will visit next time we are in Clitheroe no question.

Great pub - excellent range of beers, friendly locals, and the night we went had the added bonus of a ukelele band knocking out 90s hits in one of the rooms!

Absolutely fantastic Inn. Friendly staff serving wonderful ale, very busy this Friday teatime. All the clientele were very friendly.... other than the four idiots who came and sat on the next table to us and thought it was acceptable to pile up dirty empty glasses on our table... They were clearly old enough to know better.

Great traditional British pub. Wonderful atmosphere with a great selection of beers. Three rooms and an outside covered area, caters for all. Normal Lancashire prices so not an expensive pint - other beverages are available, wine, spirits, soft drinks etc. Wonderful place, you should give it a visit 🍻

Nice pub, good beers to be had. There were 9 pulls out of 10 going. Beer garden front and back, nice and quiet inside.

Had forgotten how nice this pub is. Got served quickly even though it was busy and sat outside in the lovely beer garden. Will now be definitely on my list when enjoying a night out in Clitheroe

Pretty unfriendly. Loads of real ales on so all looked promising. But then I asked the woman behind the bar: "What kind of beer is that?" "A mild, I think. Dark." "Sounds lovely. Can I try a taster please?' "No, we don't do tasters." This may sound a minor thing but it's really basic - any decent pub worth the name allows customers to try a sip of an ale before buying a pint. To not do so is stingy and unfriendly. The owners will know this but have decided on this policy all the same. Bizarre. Walked out and they missed out on a sale or two. Off to the Bowland Brewery down the road I went...
