Lovely pub with friendly staff and a great range of beers. Gorgeous views over the river and All hallows medieval church. Catch it on quiet sunny weekday evening for a relaxing drink, perfect.

Popped in on the way past for a quick bite and really enjoyed it. Nice clean, dog friendly, pub with an excellent range of beer. The place was just busy enough to have a nice buzz and the Steak burger I had was superb. I only wish I lived closer.

Our first visit to the Aspinall for almost 10 years. What an amazing transformation. The new dining area more than trebles the available space. The food was very nice and the service was superb. If it wasn't for the 60 mile round trip to get there we would be regulars once again. Highly recommended.

Was stuck between 4 and 5 star, so I thought I would round it up. We came in on a fairly quiet Tuesday with our dog who was as well looked after as us (which is a plus!) We went for olives, bang bang cauliflower for starters then the vegan mushroom pie and the cauliflower Milanese. The pie came with cabbage, mash and a halved carrot. The carrot and mash were great, cooked to my liking. Smooth mash, slight bite to the carrot. The cabbage was slightly under for me, and a little under-seasoned too. The pie was good, however! And that’s the star of the show. I preferred the cauliflower Milanese, it was a huge portion (good for us, we can eat…) and had a lot more flavour. It had a really nice texture and crunchy exterior which went really nice with the softer pasta bed. If I was being super critical, the pasta sauce was slightly acidic for me, but that’s my preference! The mixed olives starter was more a bowl of black olives with 2 green ones and the bang bang cauliflower was good, albeit expensive for 3 and a half small florets. I wouldn’t go for this again, personally. Whilst this sounds like a middle ground review, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and we will be back again, maybe not in a rush. But it serves a purpose as a pub that does good, hearty, comforting food. Granted, it’s not Michelin star, but that’s not what we went for. Aspinall knows its place and executes it very well. It doesn’t try to be anything other than what it’s good at. Friendly staff, quick service (but not rushed) and a nice coffee to finish (makes all the difference). It’s nice to see a place kept clean (or at least the areas I saw) with nicely kept toilets too. Thanks for a great lunch!

Went for Sunday lunch with my husband as they have a vegan nut roast. It was busy but service was excellent and we sat in the side room to the left of the fireplace in the bar. Ordered vegan feta salad with courgette and sun-dried tomato, crispy polenta and king oyster scallops with pea puree. Mains were nut roast and Malaysian curry and every mouthful was delicious and the dishes nicely presented. We left clean plates. Prior to our visit I checked the wine list and found several vegan wines so ordered Raimat Albarino and The Guvnor Temperanillo. Shame they don't label which wines are vegan on the wine list. I hope The Aspinall continues to add more varied vegan options on the menu but I hope they never remove that nut roast..it's a cracker of a dish. I meet with friends once a month and we love The Aspinall and its handy for us all to visit. I chose the vegan Shepherds pie and my friend said she had seen the vegan dish I had on our last few visits and looked so good she was having the Shepherds pie too. Our other friend had fish and chips, then sticky toffee pudding. The food was fabulous, the vegan Shepherds pie went down a treat, my friend loved it and I think it changed her impression of vegan food. The pie was substantial, satisfying and absolutely delicious and our other friend loved her food too. I hope The Aspinall continue to offer vegan options and not just risotto or curry (so boring and on too many menus as the vegan choice if I want either I'd go to an Indian or Italian). I can't wait to see what's on next months menu.

A beautiful pub in the middle of the countryside. Easily found and very welcoming staff, the food today was excellent as was the service. The only negative point was the Black Forest sundae which did not seem very cherry at all which was a disappointment. That however was the only negative point, certainly one to return to.

Met up with family today and had a lovely meal. We also had a toast to the Her Majesty the Queen. Beautiful setting too! We will be back 👍

Really nice venue, lovely food but not the most attentive service... some staff lovely, others more going through the motions. Overall, very nice dinner with the family and happily go again 😊

Beautiful country pub located at the back of Whalley in the picturesque Ribble Valley. The pub is very accommodating with open fires and cosy armchairs and a large bar area serving craft beers and an array of other popular beverages. The food was lovely with the menu being printed daily, we had French onion soup, pate and cheese soufflé for starters. Mains consisted of shoulder of lamb and home made burger. It was all delicious and filling. My only complaint would be that the soup could have been hotter.

Patio area lovely in a gorgeous location. Two of our guests ordered but server returned as their selections were not available. Would rate the food as average, some dishes could do with a bit more flavour, expected slightly higher quality to reflect the pricing. Menu felt more suited for winter/autumn, due to this most of our guests opted for lighter bites or a couple of side dishes rather than mains. Desserts were lovely and enjoyed by all. We would return for drinks on the outside patio with Dessert.

Had lunch here on a Sunday in a group of 8. A great atmosphere and excellent service. I had venison loin for main course and it was first class. Could not fault the food and would definitely eat here again.

Took my mum to celebrate mother's day went on the Saturday rather than the Sunday. We booked a table and arrived early which wasn't an issue. We had a drinks order taken then enough time to browse the menu we orders starter and main courses and deserts. The starters we had the scallops and my mum had the prawns pill pill, then for main the feather steak cooked in beer. I had the hake cassoulet. Now the food tasted lovely but the food was luke warm as best. Which spoiled it to be fair, for the starter to be luke warm and then the main clearly an issue in the kitchen maybe leaving food out too long before serving. It's put me off this place which is a shame as that's the only issue I had. If I'd have been with my daughter I would have complained about it. But being with my mum she's didn't want me to make a fuss. So I didn't want to spoil her day. The staff were lovely so not a issue there. So thanks kitchen maybe check temperature of good before serving.

All round great pub - nicely located with large garden to Riverside, excellent food and friendly staff. Starters: pork belly was crisp and tasty, not too fatty but marbled as you would expect. Scallops with black pudding was highly rated by Sharon (a scallop fiend). Mediterranean tomato tart "delicious" according to son Ben. Mains: shoulder of lamb "brilliant, melts in the mouth" said Ben. Cheese and onion pie "definitely in my top 3" according to cheese pie guru Sharon. Halibut "beautifully presented and very tasty" from my Mum.

Food was delicious and service very efficient. The whole experience for my wifes birthday was excellent. The wine was good quality with a wide choice on offer. All three courses were well presented, hot, tasty and worthy of another visit in the future. Well Done!

Over priced simply for a view and a river.. Not overly impressed. We travel the country and found nothing special about the place. A tad pompous really

Absolutely brilliant all around! We went for a late lunch/early dinner yesterday and we were beyond impressed. Staff were all absolutely lovely and helpful, the atmosphere was nice and the food was incredible - everything was very fresh and full of flavour. We were also so happy as they had an allergen menu - I have a dairy allergy and it can be such a headache trying to work out with pub staff what I can and can't have, this made it so easy (not to mention the staff took it very seriously and were very helpful). It's set on the river with beautiful views up the hill - if it had been a bit warmer we would have sat outside. They have really lush gardens as well. Next time we're in the area we will definitely be back. Highly highly recommend - we were actually planning to go to another local pub but it ended up with a wedding on and I'm so happy we went here instead - it was perfect!

Food and service were both excellent even though it was really busy when we got there at 3pm on a Sunday. I would say booking is a must.

Fantastic food, nice place, very pleasant staff who don't hurry you. Very knowledgeable and accommodating of any food allergies. The menus even included calorie content, as well as limited selection of excellent and different vegan alternatives. The food is really first class, it's not often I've been served such an unusual, innovative, beautifully cooked and presented lunch. 4 of us were there for a good 3 hours. Would highly recommend.

Lovely place, amazing beer garden looking out onto a river. Best on a sunny day. Only negative is that the food is a bit pricey for a pub.

Nice pub, loads of parking, great Riverside location. It has lots of indoor and outdoor seating and tends to get busy at the weekend but we have always found somewhere to sit without a reservation. The majority or all tables are spaced over one floor. Dog friendly with dog bowls dotted around, you do have to search around at busy times as they only the bowls that are put out. You can order at the bar or use the QR code and order and pay online (table number usually autoconfirms for you.) 🍔 burgers are nice but always fall apart when you're eating so sometimes have yo use a knife and fork. 🐟 fish and chips are great 🥧 pies are always good!! 🥗 crispy beef salad is a new favourite. Plenty of parking, easy access, ground level disabled toilet. Beautiful building, lovely scenic surroundings. Food was good : including a #glutenfree pie (main) with option of mash or chips, carrot and red onion bhaji (starter).

Nice and big pub, lots of inside and outside seating, very busy and an hour long wait for food on a hot day at Easter, good selection of beer and other drinks, large car park, fantastic scenery, down side my food, pan fried chicken and chorizo was very salty, like someone had salted and someone added more because they thought someone had forgotten, my wife had Gluten free fish, chips and peas and was excellent, the sauce which looked homemade was very salty.

In the summer the place is an amazing place for scenery and small platters. However, Sunday lunch, I’ve had better. It was very tough. Chef didn’t seem interested in feedback. Shame as it’s a great setting 😞

Really enjoyed this Sunday lunch visit to the Aspinall Arms. Lovely location, friendly staff and also dog friendly. We were a group of four and we were all well catered for, from vegan to Sunday roast. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely place to sit out in the garden next to the river on a beautiful sunny day. You order your food and drinks via an app. Service is very quick. Seats in the marquee are available to book but picnic tables are on a first come basis. Food is lovely but it's a limited menu with only 1 vegetarian main course of quiche which is served with a few salad leaves, which is OK if you just want a light snack but not if you're expecting a proper lunch, and unfortunately it was a little bland. However, my friends loved their meat burgers and fish & chips.

Food was pretty good and its a nice place to go, if definitely go again but it would of been nice to of received maybe broccoli and asparagus. The only veg I got was carrots, cabbage and cale? No complaints about the lamb or potatoes though!

    1. Absolutely gorgeous setting (Inside/Outside). 2. The food is absolutely delicious and the service cannot be faulted. 3. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. And finally, a special mention to the Blake, who went above and beyond to way to look after us. Thank you! You can even bring your four legged friend here too. We will be back with Daisy!

We stopped in to the Aspinall Arms spontaneously after a walk and a swim on a beautiful summers day. The place was rather busy and yet the host (Charlie) was able to accommodate us almost immediately. What an affable fellow. Charming ambiance, friendly and prompt service and delicious food. Situated on the banks of the river Ribble with a glass of local Rhubarb cider in hand everything felt right with the world. This place has the quintessential charm that one always seeks in an English pub but rarely finds. Bravo.
