I ate here recently with my wife. It was a surprise 58th Birthday treat for me. It was a proper treat! I’ve eaten at a lot of Michelin starred restaurants and this was as good if not better than most. The thing that marked this place out for me though was the quality of service. All the front of house team were so friendly, knowledgeable and informal, it made it such an enjoyable birthday meal. We live about 30 minutes away so we’ll definitely be back with friends.

Had a great meal at The White Swan. The vibe is a good mix of Michelin touches with a friendly, laid back style. The food was super tasty and good selection of drinks and dessert wine! We thought it was good value all round and will definitely go again.

Wow. What a place. Popped in for lunch. It's a very reasonably priced set menu which changes daily. Exceptional value for the quality of cooking on display. There was no filler - every course was fabulous. The highlights were the celeriac risotto (wow) and apple crumble souffle (wow wow). Fine dining, but in a relaxed, non-pretentious and friendly environment. Can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

The most fantastic dining experience for lunch. Great location. Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Oh boy, the food, absolutely delicious. Each course an unusual yet perfect combination of flavours. In my dreams this is my local, sadly we're actually about 250 miles away ... but definitely worth the journey!

A local pub in a village. A rather pub feel interior.Had the 5 course dinner. Service was charming and friendly . Food is good but was expecting the usual Michelin level. Lack of amouse bouche- could do with some before first course came out. Bread was good but could be incorporated into amouse at the start. Tomato consommé was good- could have been slightly bigger portion. Prawn risotto- again good but could have done with two prawns. Game Wellington was excellent- would have liked a larger portion. Tiramisu was excellent- again could have done with larger portion. Sticky toffee- good. Nice petit four at the end. Wine pairing- tapered as did not want 5 glasses. Rose and desert wine choice average. Red wine choice was excellent. Could have been a slightly larger portions for most dishes.

Absolutely sublime food served in a relaxed atmosphere situated in a very cosy pub. What a hidden gem. Great food elegantly presented and served. Will return when back in the area. Great to have a Michelin starred/ 3 Rossette establishment that serves draught beer. Excellent Timothy Taylor extensive wine list.

I looked at the set menu and wasn’t sure. Each dish got better and better new and unusual flavours. I have paid a lot more for a lot less. Staff will stop and chat, chef will explain his thinking about the menu. What more could you want? Excellent!

Excellent food and excellent service. Enjoyed all courses. Highly recommend. And excellent value considering it is a Michelin starred restaurant. Small and cosy. Staff were accommodating. Portions were just right. Lots of flavours and textures. Impressed.

Fantastic place with fixed price menu. Extra for cheese board & is definitely worth it. Plenty of choice & great quality. The food is fab & to top it off they have Greg behind the bar. They don't advertise a wine flight but Greg is very knowledgeable & I would highly recommend a wine flight, he matched our wines perfectly to every course. We will definitely be back

Amazing little place. A converted old pub in a delightful village in Lancs. The setting is no-frills with all the focus on good food. We had the vegetarian tasting menu, which is 6 courses. Couldn't fault any of it. The star was probably the tomato consomme, which was rich, tasty beyond belief & accompanied by a wonderful gnocchi. Baked celeriac came a close second though. Really good portions of everything. The staff were lovely & the wine affordable. This was a great food experience without pretension, worthy of its new michelin star. Fence 1 - Manchester 0!

Another insanely perfect meal. The taster menu is just a wonderful way to experience new food without the stress of having to choose. Every mouthful is beautiful and when you look around the restaurant you see the same expressions of awe and happiness. My favourite restaurant- beautiful food, unpretentious surroundings and just the nicest staff. Coming back monthly. It’s just too good not to!

We had an amazing evening for our wedding anniversary in August. My wife is very fussy with her food and generally does not eat lamb but we both thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes and the cocktails. Great food and very good value for money.

Fantastic food, set menu, all very tasty. We’ve eaten at 2 star places and this was just as good. Nice simple decor. Warm welcome and friendly staff. My only critique is that the staff could be a little more attentive when the service gets busier, as in checking on drinks, how you’re getting on, etc

Every part of our experience was perfect.The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The service was perfectly timed, our lunch menu was delivered over 2 hours from seating to leaving (we did not have coffee or the cheese on the occasion). As for the food, well we were blown away, not a missed note. Every course individual and packed with perfectly balanced flavours. Can’t wait to return again, kudos to all involved

Last time I was here it was 1981 with a grumpy landlord who had banned bikers. Food consisted of crisps and peanuts. How things have changed. We had booked for dinner and had the 3 course option. The food is Michelin standard which means excellent and it was. The service was attentive and not over fussy. The negative is that it can get a bit cramped when it's full service. Shame I was driving so could not reacquaint myself with a pint or two of the Taylors.

Exceptional tasting menu - every course perfectly balanced and presented. Good value for the quality of food. Service wasn't great but was explained to us as a result of new menu. Would not hesitate to recommend.

I will have to change my review because the first time I went last year, I enjoyed it very much and was very pleased with the courses and the staff, but today my visit was incredibly upsetting. I will not come back ever again.

Superb food and outstanding value for money. Love the French style of a limited menu. It means it's fresh. I avoid long menus - means it's out of the freezer and into the microwave. Quail pink and perfectly cooked. Tomato broth starter had a beautiful flavour. Well done White Swan. Near perfection in very difficult Covid19 times. Thoroughly recommend.

Awesome christmas lunch

We know this place well and the food is always amazing, but today of all days (xmas day) was truly exceptional, along with the staff and attention to detail, what a fantastic day we have had.

Fabulous meal for a larger party, great care taken with the organisation. The flavours are unbelievable, staff delightful I cannot fault The White Swan.

Absolutely fabulous experience. Food wine and especially the service were outstanding...have already booked again. Thank you to all involved for a special evening.
