We have just been to Walkden Tesco bureau de change to buy some euros. We got there about ten minutes before it opened. Behind the desk sat a young woman, on her phone, no surprise there, she completely ignored us knowing that we were customers. She then put a clock in front of us on the counter and changed it to 10.15 am. She never even looked up. How can someone so ignorant have a customer facing roll. I work in retail and know it costs nothing to acknowledge people in a friendly manner or say you will be with them soon. Needless to say we left and will give somewhere else our custom. Totally unacceptable.

At busy times, they definitely need more staff. I notice a lot of new staff members who spend most of their time pretending to stock shelves but chat away, ignoring customers. If you ask them a question they look at tou as if you are crazy. Been going here 3 tines a week for 6 years. I may drive further to Sainsburys

Half the shelves empty and it also looks like it's about to close! (that was the general opinions of customers queuing at the severely reduced tills)

Helpful staff and a super smiley greeter. Sadly, the store is gargantuan so it is very hard to find what you want and time-consuming to shop there for only a few items.๐Ÿ‘

The store is fine itself, but the escalators are out of order more than they are working. There's engineers do work on them then next week the escalators are broken again. The Glass lift is small and there's regular queues there when the escalators are not working.

It's Tesco supermarket, quite large but shrinking. No longer has a big electrical dept or fishmonger.

The store is fantastic can get anything you need but the cafe ordered the full breakfast after waiting 25 minutes for it to come I thought they left half of it in the kitchen it was like a child's portion there was no butter with the toast when I asked for some it was like asking for a million pounds the full breakfast was flavourless the cheapest of every product tesco has in store I know its not a mitchelin star restaurant but could still use some decent products

Big, well itโ€™s the biggest in the uk. Anything I want to find is usually here. Parking is good and other shops are nearby if anything isnโ€™t in here. I havenโ€™t been to the cafe so expect a change if I end up wanting to go. Parking is good too. The customer service helped me on a clubcard discount that didnโ€™t work. Its a great store. I remember the security guard from a few years ago, he was really nice.

I went to Tesco today for some groceries shopping. On the bread section I kindly asked a young customer assistant lady that was exactly on that section working on the bread shelves, if she could find a colleague that could slice a bread for me. Her rude reply: โ€œ I donโ€™t know anyone, go there and see if you find one! โ€œ Arenโ€™t the customers assistants supposed to help customers?!? Very, very unprofessional and rude!

I would just like to thank the Tesco Walkden and the delivery drivers for all their support through the lockdown. My priority deliveries have been picked and packed to a high standard and the delivery drivers are so helpful and pleasant. The driver tonight was a new driver and came with a store manager van 13j/6119 and were both so nice a credit to the company. Once again thank you Tesco team your worth your weight in gold.

Sadly, the only access is via the indoor precinct where security staff steadfastly deny admittance to anyone with a bicycle, so if that is your only means of transport, I suggest shopping elsewhere.

Well organised with 2 metre spacing in queues. At the time I visited (6:00 am) there were very few people in the store but whilst I was shopping I was told I wasn't allowed to accompany my elderly wife in the store. I had to leave the store and wait for my wife outside but I then realised that she may not have any money with her to pay for the groceries. If it is Tesco policy to allow only one member per household in the store, it should be plainly stated on their website etc or some common sense allowed in the present crisis.

First time here and I didn't realise the trollies were downstairs....none to be found but it's a good job or else I would've been walking up the broken escalators with the trolly ...heavily pregnant. There was a lovely gent on the desk at the front who radioed through for someone to bring me one. Huge thankyou for that. Had Abit of a fiasco with the self scan tills not working so I was waiting around a while, then on the way out the alarm went off because of the paid leg of lamb that I bought ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Staff were lovely though. Just Abit of a pain really and I won't ever return again.

You're greeted at the entrance by about 4 security people, plus the person that sits watching the CCTV, who clocks you as you walk in and watches you right up until you walk back out. You feel like a criminal for popping out to purhase a pack of eggs. Not very inviting at all.

Large branch with a good selection, instore bakery etc. Because of covid, trollies are stored in the ground floor carpark so need to be collected before entering the store.

Looks like it's closing down. Toilets in a state, travelators have been broken for months, a main exit shuttered off so have to walk long way round. Fresh food counters all boarded up. Presumably Tesco management have given up on this place?

  • 4/5 Simon A. 9 months ago on Google
It's great but they could do with a travelator coz it is the biggest shop I've ever been in

  • 2/5 Paula T. 10 months ago on Google
Tesco Walkden..wow, the largest in Europe, well size isn't everything. Trying to find a helpful staff member is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Still no Greggs after being advertised at Christmas. Well they have to fill the vast spaces up with something arr yes like having a Homebase. Don't bother trying to use a scan as you shop after 9.30pm, the largest Tesco in Europe doesn't have enough customers to warrant having it available at that time nor does it have the funds to repair the broken escalators! Save up the pennies Tesco..Every little helps.

Wouldnโ€™t normally review a supermarket but I felt like countering the multiple 1 stars over minor gripes. No complaints, itโ€™s a lovely big Tesco, a lot better selection than most, theyโ€™ve got a good international aisle and vegetarian section, cheapest place for the fancy ice cream. The only thing I wish theyโ€™d improve is the bakery, itโ€™s so limited compared to sainsburys and morrisons, they used to do such nice vegan sausage rolls :(

Staff mostly helpful. Good ๐Ÿ‘ today. Some glum faces but overall a good shopping experience which makes a welcome change for this store.

It was terrible! The ground floor is for parking. And only 1 set of doors worked to get to escalators that didn't work. And the 2 lifts ascending to the first floor entrance. Are tiny and only allow 1 person with a trolley! So i had to wait for a lift! Tesco's turnover is probably in the billions. They should pay more attention to staffing levels. And improve the whole shopping experience! If there was an option to give 0 stars i would have. Unfortunately the online side of the business is no better! Half of the item's say unavailable! The Tesco brand is being let down badly! Sincerely Michael Watkinson

The toilet cubicles have really really creaking doors which then hurt my ears. So either they are replaced by new silent doors or the current doors get a good oiling. Also changing rooms need to be installed in order to let people try on the clothes they pick.

One of the larger Tesco stores, wide selection and variety of products. Always well stocked, staff are friendly and polite. Ample parking outside which is free.

  • 4/5 Teki C. 10 months ago on Google
This is known as the largest Tesco in UK. The lanes are so wide to include three or four trolleys. The great thing is to have Homebase section for large furnitures. It seems to me that, to make use of the massive space, there should have been much large ranges of goods than typical Tesco Extra.

  • 3/5 Jeremy A. 7 months ago on Google
Not an awful store but on 1st October 2023 there were lots of empty spaces on the shelves, huge sections of the fruit section given over to selling bulbs and aisles in the store clogged with 3 or 4 Tesco online shoppers with their trundling carts, seemingly oblivious to the need to let customers through. There were no shallow trolleys available at 9:30- a group of them was far away from the store entrance and chained up. Two people had to physically prize two trolleys to get one in an Afro of heroic teamwork. The runways up to the store always seem to be out of order and although staff are friendly, this store needs a bit more effort to make it a really satisfying shopping experience.

I went shopping here on Saturday 19/02/22. A large Tesco Extra with all the groceries, -including bulk buys, - household goods, wines, beers & spirits you could want. On my 1st visit in several weeks, there's a new sushi section for those that like that sort of thing, but definitely not me. Likewise, the personal service, when it came to cold meats & the deli section is long gone, but still available pre-packed, but it's not the same. Likewise, hot chicken is still available, but also pre-packed, with customer service fast receding into the background, even more so when it came to the tills, with most of them closed, & half of those that were open had large signs declaring 'Pay by Card Only,' & you get the distinct impression that's it all about what's best for Tesco, rather than its customers.

So so big and full of all sorts! They have the space to potentially have more stuff inside such as other shops. Had a burger in the cafe and it was terrible, it was rock solid I really didnโ€™t enjoy it and made me gag! Should replace it with another cafe that enjoys making food.

  • 2/5 Junior S. 3 years ago on Google
Shelves are usually low on stock and items with a day left on use by or actually out of date products are at the front so just be careful. Staff are always helpful and polite and it's a nicer experience than having my shopping thrown at me at the checkout like in aldi. The tesco finest ranges are always fantastic so I return like a creature of habit.

  • 1/5 Jill B. 3 years ago on Google
Disgusting and deceitful customer service yesterday. I was overcharged and the customer service assistant was so deceitful and removed the point of sale labels. Should be ashamed of your behaviour. That is why I usually shop in Aldi.

Big Tescos inside the Walkden shopping centre, looks much smaller from outside but is massive when you get in. Store is upstairs, there are a couple of lifts for wheelchair / disabled access. Staff have always been very friendly.

Tesco's cafe in Walkden. Ive gone to Farnworth and Walkden cafes for breakfast on numerous occasions, much fewer to Farnworth. The girls at Walkden provide a really good breakfast and service and obviously care about what they offer in the food they cook and the service they provide....unfortunately its the opposite at Farnworth. Would highly recommend breakfast at Walkden

Nice friendly atmosphere in this store.. today I bought some Christmas toiltrie that were on offer only to find on the next row of toiletries the offer for the same thing was ยฃ1 cheaper... there are a lot of these errors around the store. If your customer can't afford these luxuries then sale offers are great but please be consistent in your pricing. That's it I e said my bit. Wishing you a ll a merry Christmas and a happy & healthy New Year.

Just this morning at the petrol station, I had a situation with my car. The STAFF in the kiosk were helpful, efficient, organised, supportive and professional. One of the ladies very kindly lent me her personal mobile so I could contact family and the RAC. I want to thank them immensely.
