I am giving 1 star because it is not possible to give 0 stars. This is with difference the worst practice I've ever had the disgrace to be inscribed to... Nurses replying to econsultatios rather than doctors, appointments given and then changed without any consultation with patients, appointments with nurses rather than with freaking DOCTORS!! I am moving into another practice because with this incompetence it is impossible to get proper medical attention. And please, don't blame COVID for your incompetence!

I was supposed to hand in a sample for a test at the reception - I went in and one member of staff instructed me to approach the counter and put the sample in a plastic container/box; another employee just came out of the back office and raised her voice very rudely at me SHOUTING to stay away from the counter (social distancing). Not sure how I am supposed to put the sample in from 2 meters afar? Having a moment of power-trip by shouting rudely at a patient who was not even doing anything wrong, is UNBECOMING of the largest GP practice in Liverpool. What does entitle them to take such an impolite and discourteous tone with a patient? They need to employ staff with more intelligence and people's skills, IMO.

Honestly I would give it 0 stars if I could. I've been here for a year and in that year I've been refused medication, I had to involve the hospital to get it on paper that I WILL be getting it even though a previous GP has already put it on paper. Terrible mental health support, if you're seeking help with that then this is not the place. Receptionists are very nosey, demand personal information and don't even take notice of other people right behind you - big breach of confidentiality. I don't think I've ever managed to get through on the telephone. Worse since pandemic started - i was told to order on NHS app and I'm on medication which cannot be skipped, supposedly approved on the app but pharmacies don't receive the prescription for days. Even before pandemic I've been begging for emergency appointments to which I've just been brushed off, until hospital authorities had to get involved. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

So unreliable, having to phone at 9am to be in the queue for 2 hours then to be told they're only seeing urgent patients, I would think most phone calls are urgent as it’s a doctors? I called for the results of my ultrasound and bloods and clearly I’m never gonna know the results. On the other hand the doctor I have seen who booked my ultrasound was very nice to me, just a shame you can’t get through to a doctor without being on the phone the whole day and even then you probably won’t.

Been going there for 4 years because they're the nearest but the service provided by the reception is very poor, it depends on the receptionist. Never I've ever had a referral or someone examining me properly for stomach aches. "I'm not that overweight to be treated by a doctor". It took persuasion to get a routine blood test because i haven't done one in 5 years.... Now with this eConsult it's impossible to see a real doctor/nurse.. some problems can't be treated by email. I told a doctor that my toenail was hurting and bleeding due to something heavy falling on and she said, after barely looking at it, it'd be gone in a week.. 6 months after I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose it and maybe never grow back. Why does the patients have to research on internet for explanations or insist multiple times to be taken seriously?

It's difficult this, as I've been going here for around 7 years I'd say. Had some lovely drs like Dr Chesney and Dr Davies (and more) - however today I had a Dr (not the one I've been dealing with) finally call me back after waiting all day (and all of Friday) just to tell me basically she doesn't think my mental health is urgent and that 'pills don't work anyway for weeks', along with how she believes I can wait for a few days in order to speak anyone. Absolutely disgusting. This person contributed to a huge mental health spiral I had today and I had to frantically call the crisis team. I have never rated this surgery before and whilst I have had some nice drs and nurses, there are definitely some rubbish people here who have zero people skills and should not be on the phones or dealing with people, period. Even another dr here around 6 years ago was so rude to me, I cried once I'd left. I even told the receptionists to not put me back with that Dr! And don't even think about getting to see the same or speak with the same dr either, got more chance of pigs flying. Can't build a proper relationship with any of them. Seems judging by the responses from the practice on the previous reviews they don't take kindly to any negative words, but regardless I've left a similar review on their actual site. Really disappointed today and disgusted with the service of the woman I spoke with.

Incredibly difficult to get an appointment & then when you're offered one & change your shifts so you can attend, they send a text cancelling it & moving it to another random day that you can't attend

Terrible practice, submitted a detailed e consultation. It told me they could not assess properly and to call the surgery. On hold to the surgery for more than 30 mins in position 2.

The online booking system seems to be always closed and I can't get a hold of anyone on the phone. Also, the online system has a specific list of symptoms/conditions to choose from which may not include what the patient is experiencing - that's why it's important to be able to talk to a person. I tried changing to another GP in my area but I was told that they cannot take me in as they have an agreement among themselves to not take patients from each other! So I can't see a doctor at Ropewalks and I'm also not allowed to register myself somewhere else? This is simply not fair, especially with all the taxes that we pay.

Walked in to get a same-day access appointment, but the receptionist refused and said I have to see the same doctor for the same health issue, which means I have to come again a few days later. I said I've been there many times before and it was never a problem. The doctors understand appointments can be difficult to get and had told me it doesn't have to be the same doctor. But the receptionist was very assertiveness and insisted that it has to be the same doctor.

Had several problems with this surgery from incorrect issued prescriptions to never receiving call backs as promised. Always advised to make a complaint but when you do the Practise Manager is rude to you and accuses you of being rude and swearing. In 15 years of managing my ongoing condition i have never been treated so poor nor have I been left to fester in such a poor manner. Tried to advise surgery of this but told I swore and had phone put down on me then I was threatened id be kicked off their register so as to keep me quiet. Go to this surgery at your peril, their own reception teams admit they are well below standard and that patients are bottom of their list of priorities. Trust me this place is bad.

Can I give a zero star? No ok, one is too much. I've just moved to this GP, but I already want to change it. If you call at 8 for an appointment you are the 20th in the queue. 4 calls 2 visit to obtain a presscription for a medicine I have been taking for 3 years. They wanted to start all the investigation again... Bye Bye Brownlow...

Previously left 5 star review. Practice has gone down hill recently. I didn't mind that first contact used to be by e-consult. Now they won't accept e-consults after about 1400. This is bizarre. It's an electronic ticket system, it makes no sense to turn it off at all. No thought given to those of us who don't live 8am - 11pm lifestyles due to work or other commitments. Will be looking for another surgery.

I visited to make an appointment and was told by the reception that they don't make appointments and you have to fill in a form and someone will decide if you can have one or not. Twice their reception have decided that my non disclosed condition warranted a nurse appointment not a Dr, which I found out only on my visit. No GP surgery should be letting receptionists decide who can or can't seek medical help. I have now moved to a medical centre where appointments can be made.

It used to be a good practice, now it seems a GP in name only. It became impossible to see a doctor. If you want to get an appointment you have to use the dreadful e-consultation, which is more often closed than open. Otherwise, you have to call and wait in a queue to be told they reached full capacity and refused an appointment in the following days. If you're lucky enough to get an appointment, it will be with a nurse. Not surprising so many people are forced to go private at enormous cost.

Is there a way to contact anyone without waiting for a call back? I always miss calls back because of my job so it feels like a waste of everyone's time. The NHS website says E-consults a way to contact a GP 24/7. I really appreciate and empathise with the current issues in general practice; I understand that turning them off is sometimes necessary, but it seems they are turned off constantly, even during practice hours!

Today I was seen 1h late, because the girl at the reception took my name wrong and was to busy playing with her phone to actually check my data - e.g. my date of birth. Then, I had the most unprofessional and misinformed consultation with a GP - too personal to be disclosed here. I advise a close look to the professional performance of this team.

Despite being considered a considered a priority, I've had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment with the doctor. This appointment was then rearranged at the last minute so the wait continues. The phone lines are impossibly busy with the receptionists unable to offer any real help. If someone was suffering with a serious illness, I have genuine concerns that the wait times at this practice would impact upon their chances of making a recovery. It does not have to be like this. At my previous doctor's in the same city, an appointment could always be made in the week it was requested for.

I have been with Brownlow health for around three years now. Over the last month I approach GP for medication to delay my period for a holiday. I was, for some reason, given a medication not commonly used to delay periods and instead treats cancer with delaying your cycle as a side effect. After taking this medication I suffered intense anxiety, insomnia, vomiting, stomach issues, rapid heartbeat, sweating and fainting and after seeing four GP's (which was hard enough to do as website always is turned off for appointments) I was told constantly it was just anxiety. After informing each GP I have anxiety generally and this came on me within 24 hours since taking the meds and I knew the tablets had done something chemically I was ignored and told to go home and do yoga, with no medication to help me sleep eat or drink other than propanolol which caused nightmares and further insomnia. A week later I ended up in A&E with the crisis team and it took my father, who is a retired GP to notice my neck had rapidly swollen. Upon my own investigation, found the medication I had been given was deadly to those with thyroid issues, having had a thyroid disease as a child I was stunned that a doctor gave me this. I approach a fifth GP who agreed my neck has swollen rapidly and I could have suffered sudden drug induced thyroiditis, to which I need a urgent ENT appointment to rule out rapid CANCER. Even when approaching the final hurdle of this the GP told me, "I didn't even know Provera could do this to the thyroid". I have also been left with no support or medication to treat the thyroiditis nor have I even had explained to me what it is, just that ENT are going to "hopefully rule out cancer in the next two weeks". I am 27 years old at the start of my life and have been left totally unsupported throughout this, with no knowledge, treatment or support. Stunning responses throughout. I have since had to go private for bloods as I do not feeling the GP knows what to accurately test me for. I cannot believe the medical gaslighting I faced and how I was left for nearly a month not having ate, drank or slept properly - all with panic attacks and sudden depression on top. I will be attending a urgent ENT in the next two weeks to see what damaged has been caused and you can bet my life (might as well as Brownlow Health has ruined it beyond repair) that if there is permanent damage from the time I have spent unmedicated that I will not be leaving this. Update 24/05/23 Since placing a complaint and this review online I can confirm nobody who dealt with me personally has apologised and I have instead had a simple 'we are investigating it' letter in the post regarding my experience at Brownlow health. When placing my complaint I stated I wanted additional support and further blood tests and that I had still be left with no treatment to help me sleep eat or drink - this has still be ignored weeks later and I am still left suffering with intense insomnia, swollen neck, choking when drinking, not able to eat and I have lost over a stone in weight in just under two weeks. Brownlow health are nothing but neglectful to their patients, proving so due to me requesting a call back yesterday morning and nobody doing so. I will be seeking legal support.

This practice I would categorise as an unhealthy institution: the GP's appear to lack empathy and listen with one ear on their practice budget meetings: the GP I saw suggested go private. The doctor I saw simply not interested, and the practice itself has now the perfect veil of the present health crisis to triage patients to a no appointment, or one so rare, and wrapped so tightly in an IT maze - one is left feeling concerned for the care of the most elderly and disadvantaged parts of our Liverpool community. When I arrived at reception, only a few young people, perhaps pregnancy related patient's were sat amongst scores of empty seats: perfect patients in a toy doctor practice. I won't name the doctor I saw as it seems unfair to do so on a public forum, however she was young and from Wales.

Rubbish GP service. receptionists seem to think they are qualified GP's themselves and seem to book people in dependant on how much they like you, The prescriptions are never on time or correct. This surgery is grossly understaffed and is providing poor quality of care and service. One doctor told me that I was basically responsible for my own mental health and that the services offered were rubbish in Liverpool he said I needed to essentially get a grip !!

The map location is spot on as some others have suggested it isn't. This is the best G.P surgery in Liverpool,Great service all - round from the very polite and expedient receptionists to the first class service from a great roster of Dr's (Most notably Dr Diane Exeley).

I have seen two doctors here, walked in and was given an appointment within the hour. I wish I could remember the first doctors name as she was excellent and gave me lots of her time and some good advice. My second visit was just as good only shorter as I felt I understood my problem more due to my first visit.

Wouldn't recommend. I've had so far quite a bad experience, my endometriosis symptoms were brushed of by several staff members as a "girls have painful periods, it's normal, come back later despite I've been there with same thing several times". At first, I had no tests done for first hormonal pills I was given, afterwards as I had to stop and came to beg to have something for my agonizing pain I was said to "get used to pain" and struggled badly to have an appointment or to have someone to take me seriously. Later on one of GPs just prescribed me wrong type of IUD, which would made my symptoms even worse. No tests, no referrals to see specialists, despite I kept asking for referal all the time. One nurse from abacus noticed the wrong type of IUD thanks god, but I haven't have done any tests anyway. Few months later one of the GPs forgot my referral and I ended up waiting for almost half a year for my appointment in the hospital!!!! From this may until this October! Half a year I wasted suffering in agonizing pain, just because GP messed up. Unbelievably crazy. Can't book appointments over the phone call as reception keeps sending me to the app which is crashing and not functioning at all.

I have read lots of the posts on here about this practice. They say t all really, and I do not think I can add to them. The GMC and Care Quality Commission should be looking into these comments, and the practice themselves should be giving their patient's the option of moving to another practice. I was so upset to read one particular review from a girl who was clearly mentally in crisis, and thought of my own daughters in her situation with no one to turn to for urgent help. Shameful really.

The worse GP practice I have ever been to. Reception staff are very good but the all the GPs i have seen think they are gods. You have to go 10 times before you get a referral. Only one GP was good here and she is on maternity leave.

Unfortunately I have needed the input of a GP for a few different issues over the past few years. At each point of contact Brownlow Health have been so easy and professional to deal with. The processes they put in place to contact the surgery are seamless, and you are always responded to in a timely manner, as promised. They seem to appreciate the difficulties that work and every day life have on trying to get to the GP, and have put processes in place to help with this. Myself and my husband feel very lucky to have Brownlow as our GP.

I’ve needed to use this GP a number of times for myself and my son. I’ve been very happy with all interactions/appointment and GP/staff have gone above and beyond each time. I can’t fully understand the extent of the difficulties the GP’s are facing in the NHS, but I’m very impressed and grateful for all the hard work. Many thanks to all the team! :)

Terrible practice, no communication with patients, i sent an e consult 2 weeks ago, they issued me medication to a pharmacy (but never told me, or replied to my e consult) i called 2 weeks later for them to tell me that medication had been issued to a pharmacy for me - but they had not told me this? Previously, a doctor told me he would be conducting a health review with me in two weeks, i waited 3 months to give the surgery the benefit of the doubt and not add to an already stretched workload, i rang them back and the dr told me he had forgotten to contact me “it had slipped his mind.” This was a mental health review… i have serious concerns over patient safety within this practice, and am considering contacting CQC to report my concerns. I have been a patient for around 4 years with this surgery, and have had to fight for my health care every step of the way, i understand patients having to take responsibility for their own healthcare, and will gladly do so, but this really is starting to get ridiculous, i should not have to chase the surgery for basic tasks to be completed, after being assured that they will be sorted - they never are. I simply do not trust this surgery anymore, and do not believe my health is taken seriously within this practice.

Absolutely shocking service, been on hold for 1 hour 7 minutes, he then puts me on hold for another 16 minutes to find a telephone number for me then cuts me off. No call back, I then call a 2nd time and 47 minutes in I get cut off again. Don't know what's going on but since young students ate working the front desk it is a mess. I am looking to move doctors now as I've had enough.

Unable to book appointments, unable to submit eConsult. Unable to receive health care when required. It doesn't get much worse than that. FYI with no indication of when the service will be working again. I needed healthcare in July, we are now entering November and I haven't even been able to speak to someone about this, let alone receive treatment

Ridiculous service every single time! Have been waiting to find out what my health problem is for 7 months!!!! I was told today I will get a call from the doctor, looks like they just try to get rid off people over the phone… Prescribing medication for different health issues without even proper checking it and making sure what exactly it is. I can guess as well, I go to the doctor to tell me what my problem is and what the solution is for it!

For 3 weeks I have tried to register my wife so that she can get her covid booster. Every time I return, I get told "sorry... too busy". Today I was treated to a smirky receptionist, a trainee and a young manager of some kind and I again asked if I should return on Friday and the reply was "well you can always try" - implication being that it still won't be done. I'm British and my registration was completed in a week and my wife is Polish and hers still sits there at the bottom of the pile of maybe 10 application forms. The smirky receptionist seemed to think that there were 500 applications to be processed. I thought that only Jesus was able to do such a task but then again, he did it with loaves and fishes. I know my wife and I have seen how she deals with patients under her care. I am sure that she wouldn't treat the receptionist in this manner if she was on a respirator and under her care. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: I went back today to see if my wife has been registered. Yes, this has now been actioned and the other 9 or so applications that were awaiting being actioned were also gone from behind the counter. My wife can now go for her booster vaccination. This time I was dealt with by a very nice and polite receptionist. I have raised the number of stars from 1 to 3. This should have been a very different review. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to admit that I have seen a completely different side to this practice yesterday. There was a very professional manageress and two very professional receptionists. The NHS asked if we could visit the doctor to have our Polish covid vaccine cert details put onto the system. Well that ain't going to happen at the moment and they were simply taken from us with the promise that they would be data entered when possible. We have now had our boosters and so happy to wait until the staff have time. It is a shame that we didn't have this experience at the start. I suppose that we are living in strange times at the moment. ------------------------------------------------------------------ After 6 months, we were still not assigned to a particular doctor. It was simpler to just move to a better doctor's surgery.

Called today regarding my blood results. I made it to position 1 in the queue after 35 minutes for the phone to cut off, I was never called back. I called again, getting through to someone after 28 minutes. My blood results had not been commented on after 13 days and the receptionist on the line was trying to link my blood work to a medication completely unrelated to the original issue. I usually have no issue with Ropewalks, but I’m utterly shocked with the communication so far.

It can be very busy on the phones but the fact they offer a call back service is fantastic especially when you haven't got the time to wait on the phone in a que. Feels very stress free when I am looking for the right help.

Just registered with the surgery last week. Dr Murphy is very good and helpful also the reception staff. They are all doing everything they can to help me as just been diagnosed with diabetes so lot of information to take in but with the help of the surgery and also been at the royal to the diabetic centre makes the process easier would like to thank Dr Murphy and all the staff and nurses for there help and hard work.

Rude receptionists wait 30 mins to be answered on phone for her to be extremely rude and give less than 2 mins before she hung up and told me to call again tomorrow. Had 2 appointments this week one being 45 mins late and the other just over an hour. Surely this has to be poor management? When you ask the receptionists how long it’s going to be they don’t have a clue no apology or anything. However this isn’t a reflection of the dRs because both have been amazing and extremely helpful, it’s just overall miss management of the practise and an attitude issue from the receptionists.

I have recently registered with this practice and on my two visits since, I have found reception staff and doctors very helpful on both occasions. Would definitely recommend

I and my family have seen several GPs here, all of whom have been really good. Can sometimes be hard to get an appointment quickly, but this is probably common to a lot of busy GPs

Very tidy and well designed building with pharmacy provided. Large doctors surgery and dentist practice along with rooms for numerous surgeries. Only issue is parking within the local vicinity. Only local parking is within John Lewis car park which is pricey.

I don't understand all these negative reviews. I've been with this practice for about 3 years now, every single person I've dealt with, whether receptionist, nurse, or GP has been fantastic. Patient, friendly and caring at all levels. Okay, some appointments might be slightly late but that's true of all GP practices I've been to. From memory GPs are only allocated 6 minutes to see a patient so if someone books a single appointment but has many complex issues that will take longer, what are they supposed to do? Turn the patient away to meet appointment times? Pretty sure this is the best practice I've ever had dealings with.

For some reason unable to post review at Pembroke Place so posting here. Received text advising 'further blood tests', following a blood test over 1 month ago. No brief explanation why, no phone call, not signed by GP. In future, please provide more information as to reason behind this, as solitary, brief text was worrying.
