What a fantastic historic old industrial town! Friendly and welcoming. The India Mill Chimney is iconic as Queen Victoria's Jubilee Tower above.

This is a must visit for anybody that has a keen interest in their hometown or for anyone visiting Darwen. The staff are very helpful and informative, they have a great collection of maps dating back hundreds of years and loads of memorabilia. The centre also offers a cafe too for refreshments.

The Heritage Centre is to be respected by the whole town of Darwen. It's like having our own museum.

We visited the Heritage Centre at the weekend while spending a few days in the Darwen/Blackburn area doing some 'family history', and trying to locate and visit as many associated sites as possible in a relatively short space of time before heading back south. The team members at the Centre were all extremely welcoming and helpful, including assisting us to identify the exact house number where my grandparents, mum and aunt had once lived on Olive Lane, and the church where my grandparents were married in 1924. Thoroughly recommended if you have an interest in the local history of the area.

Enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers, Pat and Albert, were eager to share information with us which added to our enjoyment at learning some of Darwen's history. My husband and I aren't Darreners but we found the exhibits and historical details very interesting and we learnt lots of new things. Looking forward to returning to look through more exhibits and photographs.

Great little place, lots of local history, photos and artefacts. The staff, who are all volunteers, made us all feel welcome and were brilliant with my son. He loved it so much, he took me back the next day, aswell! So great to see a place like this in these times where places are closing and heritage is at risk of being forgotten. Thanks to all who work to keep this place alive.
