Greenbriar has some thing for everyone-elevates your experience -whether you’re in the bar, on the patio, or the dining room, celebrating a special event or just there for apps and drinks! We’ve been usually getting the takeout for pizza and side salad topped with the wonderful house dressing, creamy, Parmesan. Any entree or appetizer is delicious, the drinks are made Expertly, the wine list is wonderful. I suggest a reservation. If you do takeout be there promptly but you may need to wait a couple of minutes if it’s during the busy times. The staff is hard-working and I want you to have the best experience possible. We’ve also used Greenbriar‘s for catering which is done very well with absolutely delicious food. we’re ordering French dip, Merle, hay, auto mile salad…yum! The bar is beautiful and the dining room plush!

Although yall were short staffed the food and service was amazing. I had the Crispy Fried Avocado, Mahi Mahi, blueberry lemon cake. We had a great time!

Service was off to a slow start, but rapidly staff noticed and did everything to fix it. It was especially meaningful since we went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. It was just the two of us and we were so excited. They gave excellent service. The food overall was great, besides the smashed baby red potatoes. They tasted like oil and we couldn't eat them. The pieces of cake were excellent. The food was great overall and flavorful. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp especially.

We had an amazing anniversary dinner last night! I felt incredible and my husband did a double take and stumbled over his words when he saw me. (Anyone who knows Randy, knows this is very hard to do.) We had never been to Greenbriar before, but we were THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED! The food was amazing! Our server IMPECCABLE! Stacy was really able to understand our needs and prioritize her tables accordingly! (She had a hand in a homecoming party of 12, a party of 9, 2 top, 4 top, 5 top, and us!) I have never been treated so well in a restaurant, especially an upscale restaurant! I will always be back only to see her! I was most impressed with how Stacy was able to gage and read the needs of each table. She knew we needed little attention, the homecoming party A LOT, the 2 top more than us, her regulars(the 4top) little attention and the 5 top would be good as long as they had their bar drinks. She is a pure gem and deserves all the recognition! Thank you Stacy for making our anniversary dinner one to remember! You are amazing girl! The food was incredible. The appetizer of baked mushrooms was pretty standard 4 rating. I could make the same thing at home. The prime rib melted in your mouth with a healthy helping of horsey sauce and au jus. The scallops over mushroom risotto has so much flavor and just enough lemon to bring out the scallops! Both entrées 5/5!

Had a wonderful dinner here! Our server was very friendly and all our food was delicious! We got the coconut tempura shrimp for our appetizer and it was delicious! Nice big shrimp and the pineapple salsa and the sweet Chilli sauce were so good! I got the new york strip and my Fiancé got the cheese tortellini for our entrees and split a chocolate torte for dessert. Everything tasted amazing and the atmosphere was excellent! We are having our wedding reception here next month and I can't wait!!

Gem in Iowa. 5 stars are not even enough. Atmosphere is fantastic. My server was on his first day of work and he did an amazing job! They have a wide selection of wines. Name it prolly they have it. The manager is very attentive making sure she gets to great every guest and opens the bottle of wine for them. Their Halibut is a must try. And don’t forget to get a slice of their carrot cake. I swear the best ever. Trust me I’ve been to 9 different countries and multiple cities. I will definitely be a regular here.

The food is always amazing,and the service is the best I've ever encountered. Everytime. Once we had a waitress there who would bow as she backed away with our orders. Not going to lie, we loved it, talk about above and beyond! If you're looking to try it out, the borsin sliders are reasonably priced and a great way to introduce yourself to the restaurant.

One of the better restaurants in Johnson. It's a mix of trying to appear classy but also pretty casual. Good for a date night or business meeting. Highly recommend reservations ahead of time as it always seems busy. The food was pretty good. For appetizer went with the Calamari. I decided to go with the Chef special which was Sliced Wagyu, it was delicious but slightly small portion that left me wanting more. Also had the Three Cheese Pizza which I enjoyed. Then finally dessert was the Tiramisu which I also enjoyed.

Had to wait about 5-8 minutes to be seated and didn’t see anyone at the front. However when we got seated the service was good and the food came decently fast. The chocolate cake was exceptional but also would be very rich for some people

Fantastic experience. Food was excellent, service was fantastic (being professional, prompt, and friendly), and overall a great experience. We went for lunch, and everyone in our group commented on how perfect the portions were. Definitely will be back!

If you know the location and you've been there, then you'll understand the rating. It's totally worth a visit because the menu has good options and all of the food is clearly cooked well and with care. The fact is that it is just average at best. The people are lovely and it pains me to rate 3 stars but truthfully I could make that same food at home with ease. Seemingly older clientele (50+) with classic fine dining vibes.

This was our first time and everything was absolutely fantastic. Very professional staff, quick service on drinks and appetizers. The blueberry sour and peach cobbler mule were top notch. I ordered the ribeye with gunpowder crust and it was AMAZING. Try it with the garlic mashed potatoes. My wife got the chicken tortellini and it was fantastic as well. The blueberry marscapone dessert was also fantastic. Prices are steep but the quality is worth every penny. If I had to nitpick something, I'd suggest some light music playing in the restaurant. It was silent and felt kind of awkward at such a high end place to be sitting in silence. Smooth jazz would have been the cherry on top! 😀 Overall, we'll be back. 9.9 out of 10!

We both very much enjoyed the restaurant. The food was delicious, first and foremost. We ate there Saturday, 4/22, and made reservations. We are happy that we did; the place became packed shortly after we showed up. We were promptly seated, and I loved the atmosphere. The dim lighting and rose on the table creates a very romantic atmosphere. I ordered the prime rib with gunpowder seasoning, and she had the tortellini. I tried hers, which was fantastic, but I chose better. We finished the night off with some crème brulee, and my oh my, it was phenomenal. Service was spectacular Keli did an excellent job and was very attentive. The food’s price and exceptional service have created a beautiful diamond in Johnston. My only complaint is how long it took me to visit for my first visit. I will be coming back very soon.

I went for lunch. The service was great even with 2 pretty big groups and only 2 servers to handle both plus other diners. Through it all they were gracious and friendly. The food was really good as well. I highly recommend giving them a visit

Went here last minute for my birthday. I called before we left to make sure we could get in and they reserved us a spot. We arrived 10 minutes early and even though it was packed, they got us right in. We splurged on a appetizer, steaks, drinks and dessert and enjoyed it all! Very nice, relaxing atmosphere where you're never rushed. The food is delicious every time!

We had a waitress that spoke so soft that we could barely hear her, and she kept bowing whenever she brought us anything, it was disturbing. All we really ask for in wait staff is that they're competent, attentive and efficient, not a fawning psycho. The food was ok, but hardly newsworthy.

Perfect atmosphere, great personable service, food was superb! Havarti Shrimp was very good, as was the Chicken Tortellini Owner even came by and asked how our meal was, and had a pleasant conversation. It’s not a fluke that this place has been open for 35 years. Definitely want to return when in the Des Moines area again

We had our Company Holiday Party here this past Saturday. Everything was exceptional. Our Servers, Kelly and Colleen, were on top of everything, the ambiance was perfect. The food efficiently delivered, and the entire experience was top-notch. All of our guests were more than happy, even specific care to dietary restrictions. This is definitely a location within the Top 5 restaurants in Des Moines. Well Done!

I probably won't be back. I used to like this place a lot but my wife ordered a medium-well steak and they sent her a raw/ medium-rare at most but it was pretty much raw. We don't like to complain so my wife was just gonna eat it. I thought maybe the server just heard wrong and heard medium rare instead of well.. she said no I heard medium well and I put it down as that. she said "its supposed to be pink the chef said" lol yes it is supposed to have some pink but the entire steak was pink and bloody. It really wasn't a big deal but they made it a big deal by not owning their own mistake, The manager came to the table even though I did not ask for it and continued not owning up to it. She made excuses and tried to blame my wife because she didn't send it back. This is the type of experience that will keep me from ever going back to a place. Just disappointing that you can't own something. Here my wife is day 2 of food poisoning after eating there a really big letdown.

We made a reservation, everything was ready for us. Had a party of 3 and Stacey was our server. She was FANTASTIC! Very attentive. My fillet cam out more done than I ordered, and she IMMEDIATELY apologized and asked if I would like a replacement or something else. I went with what my Mom had ordered and ordered the same thing. Came back PERFECT! The manager came out and apologized….not needed…was so kind and offered a dessert. We frequent this establishment and will continue to do so. Great service, great food! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Always a great experience. The meals have tastefully paired fresh vegetables, meats are cooked to perfection, and the bar has no problem with your favorite libations. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs. A great place to go when it's a special occasion.
