The food is amazing, music is great and the staff is more than welcoming and always friendly and nice. It's a great place to do some work by yourself or hang out with friends, whether its over coffee or cocktails. I would 110% recommend this place to anyone who wishes to have a great time in Cluj-Napoca.

Makeba restaurant is a hidden gem located in the old city next to the old city walls. The location is absolutely beautiful and adds a certain charm to the dining experience. However, it's worth noting that there is no parking place on site or on the near premises, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. The prices at Makeba are decent, but may not be the most student-friendly. It's also important to note that the restaurant is not handicap friendly, except for the tables on the terrace outside. The serving was quite quick, which was a plus. The food portions are decent overall, with the exception of the cod fish filet, which is quite small. I ordered the cod fish filet, which was a bit disappointing in terms of size, but still flavorful. To accompany my meal, I had a Birra Moretti beer which was a great pairing. For dessert, I tried the souffle, which was amazing. The food overall was quite tasty and well-prepared. Overall, Makeba restaurant is a great dining option if you're looking for a beautiful location and good food. Just be aware of the limited parking options, the lack of accessibility for those with mobility issues, and the relatively higher prices.

This is one of my favorite places. The food is delicious, you feel very welcomed and the prices are pretty normal. Last time I was served by Cristina and she was so lovely and joyful, I will definitely go back when I can!

Made a Halloumi Salad order. The spinach and the rucola were not fresh, tasting and looking disgusting. Also the bulgur was replaced with wheat - I wasn’t informed about it or asked if it’s ok for me. The vinegar was also spoiled. Update: Before I left the place, the owner/manager came really upset at the table to check why I left this bad review, as the waiter lied about asking how the food was - I was the one to tell her my the salad is not okay as she came to take away my plate. I was asked to never visit the place again and sure I won’t! The owner/manager/chef (he never told me who he was) started lecturing me about my bad values and morals, basically calling me a liar and generally had a really rude and unprofessional attitude.

The staff is great, very responsive and nice, however, the food is not amazing. It's an option if you like fried food. Otherwise, I suggest trying other place.

Good food. Burgers are good, but small. It says 500g in the menu, but it is mostly fries. Techno music is very loud - makes it difficult to enjoy the meal. Also very friendly place. Good selection of drinks.

We were 4 people and we ate burgers and everyone had a drink. The food did not taste good. The icing on the cake, they charged us for 7 orange fresh drinks, we had just one. Our mistake was that we did not checked the bill that night, but lesson learned. There is no date or name on the receipt, strange thing I guess. How can we get our money back? I think we can not.

Amazing food, amazing service, it's the third time I visit this place and the drinks they make are some of the tastiest, creative and colorful ones I've seen in the area. The decor of the interior is really chic with amazing artistic flair. The staff is really profesional and friendly

Nice place with good atmosphere, we ordered 2x Benedicts eggs, but unfortunatelly my weren't liquid inside (my boyfriend's were), what was a bit disapointment for me, but the taste was good. Portion not big enough.

Cristina is an amazing employee who is very nice and enthusiastic. Extremely rapid with her service and always has a smile on her face (not just with us but with every client). 5/5, would come back for Cristina (and ofcourse the amazing drinks). Music could be better.

We meet here with some friends and it was a great experience. The service is fast and the waiters are very friendly, especially Eve who whas really sweet with us 😁 we had some cocktail and side dishes which were pretty good

I really enjoyed having dinner at Makeba. The service was great, the food was a bit above average just because the sauce I had. Beers and cocktails great for a hot summer evening. I’ll definitely come back here.

The restaurant is in the city center, not easy to get there, but once you taste the food you will always remember the location.

The new menu is delicious. Especially the feta cheese with honey is very similar to the greek dish. I recommend this place for a brunch or to hang out. 🐶 dog friendly location and nice staff

We stumbled across this restaurant while wandering around and decided to sit down on a whim. THE BEST DECISION EVER Our main waitress, Diana and her colleague Roxana went above and beyond to make our evening as special and amazing as can be. The food was great, the lemonades to die for (so where the cocktails), great music playing in the background and the vibe was there. By far the best restaurant experience I've had, at least lately, if not ever. Thank you, Diana for your joyfulness and amazing service 🤩🤗

We enjoyed nice food; the atmosphere is chill & very good serving. We had the following options: - mushrooms cream soup; - breaded chicken breast; - teriyaki pork ribs with baked potato and baked peppers. We will definitely come back when we will return to Cluj! 🫶

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The food was just fantastic, service just as friendly and attentive. Had the pork neck: beautifully seared on the outside, tender as tender can be on the inside, and topped with perfectly crispy bacon. Highly recommend. Will go again before I leave in a few days.

Hidden gem! We were walking around in the drizzle rain and stumbled upon this place. It did not disappoint! The waitress who served us was really nice, I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. The place has a really cool vibe and the food was delicious.

This place is REALLY overrated. The portion sizes are super small, we all left hungry, even though we took drinks and a main course per person. I took the veggie bowl main course (40lei) which was the size of a side salad in other restaurants, and it excluded the sauce 😅 paid for a whole main dish, and there was no sauce or topping on it, so i had to order sauce and pay another 5-6lei. My partner’s pork chops were incredibly small and dry. At least the service was nice, but the whole restaurant was managed by one waitress, so as you can imagine that also compromises the quality of the service…

Nice place and atmosphere, with a South American hunt in the menu. The food is made fresh, so the wait time is a bit longer than other restaurants, but it is worth the wait. I was bit displeased with the service, we had a newbie as a waiter and we waited over 20 minutes for him to come and get the drinks order. Otherwise, all was really nice!

We had the best time ever! A friend of mine celebrated his birthday at this restaurant. We had really good food. They even brought a cake for him and helped us prepare a little surprise. The two girls were really nice and also offered us to sing karaoke and built it up for us. We had a really nice time!

They had great food (also served a group of 10+ people at 22:00 which was really nice - being one of the few places you can get restaurant food at that hour). The service was particularly good, very careful to their costumers.

I like this place, the waitress are very nice, polite and the service is very fast. I really enjoyed the food: french fries were crispy,chicken crisps were also crispy outside and moist inside. Also, I really like that there are a lot of non alcoholic cocktails!!

The drinks are overly expensive. 8 lei for a 250ml Coke is just a no. Besides this, it is a lovely place. Very good food. The waitress was very polite.

A wonderful place to spend a cheerful evening. The waiters, especially Narcis are extremely friendly and offer great services. Makeba is all together a great to gather your friends and eat wonderful food.

This place is great. Hidden between old citadel walls and very close to the town centre. The food is delicious and there are also vegetarian options. The staff is extremely kind too. I totally recommend this place.

Would like to come back here... nice dishes even if you are not extremely hungry or you're starving.. you will find the best meal for yourself. The amount also appears on the menu. The crew is very friendly and polite.

Very friendly staff, but also quite slow. The selection of food is great, but the quality is lacking. The classic burger is nothing special, the fries are quite soggy. The fried tofu with vegetables is a nice combinatiom but it lacks flavours unfortunately. A lot of room for improvement but would support it
