Although most of the reviews prais the restaurant, I can not figure out the enormous gap between the reviews and our experience. We will start from the good, the place is nice, we'll designed good ambiance and the staff is friendly. Now to the cons, we ordered some starters the garlic mushrooms were very good, the only good dish we had, we had ordered brochketa, it was not only not good, it was unedibal, maybe even off. For the main course we had, Duck in brown sauce, the duck was not fresh and the sauce was still. Pasta carbonera, arcade cold, the pasta was overdone, and it had nothing to do with do carbonera. And two different types odlf risotto, both came in different temperatures, leaning towards cold, one was OK, not good just OK the second was very very bad. All the dishes were half eaten and nobody asked why we do not finish When the check came they did not discount the un eaten bruschetta we were so uneasy that we did not even want to fight and just get out of the restaurant. Sadly it was one of worse dining experience I had, and on our last day in cluj, please, don't waste precious time on this restaurant, there are good once in the area, enjoy them....

The food was absolutely delicious!! It's a great heartwarming place. Great service and overall an amazing experience! I had the beef with horseradish sauce and truffle ( aprox 15euros/ 74lei) Had some appetizers on the house. Couldn't ask for more Totally recommend this place to everyone!

I ordered duck breast and they did not inform me that will be rare done - although this was far from rare, it was in blood. plus after I asked to be cooked they returned again very rare, but added extra sauce on top. Unless you are a fan of the fun of meat in blood run away from this location.

Mediocre food, unremarkable service. The place was recommended as one of the city's historical food places so I was eager to try. Stands out by the small terrace - it's not so easy to find a large terrace facing the street downtown Cluj. Unfortunately, a big SUV was blocking half the entrance as well as the only table for 2. Clearly, a group place whose regulars pretty much park where they want. I ordered the Spaghetti Allamatriciana and what I've got is something that tasted a lot like Cabbage à la Cluj, except there was spaghetti instead of cabbage. Very disappointing to eat pasta and be left with a deep stew taste in your mouth. No cheese topping either. The terrace I guess justifies a lot of the pricing, but later that day I discovered a much better sitting, 300 m up the street that leads to Opera Maghiara. I will not revisit "The Crying Monkey" - the name is its best feature.

It is a very elegant place, ideal for dates or fancy meals or for events. I went there with some friends and we ate very well. We enjoyed everything. The prices are a little high, but it is definitely worth it. The lava cake was the best ever. My beef tagliatelle tased like heaven.

Fish soup was just amazing (best I had in a while) ! Cherry mocktail also was very nice. But lamb with roasted potatoes were a little bit average (I would say lamb too salty and missing flavour and potatoes too dry). Service excellent (however its included in a bill). Atmosphere nice, calm and relaxing - perfect place for some nice dinner date I would say).

Average food but a nice atmosphere, service was a bit slow. I had the Mixed bruschetta's and the Spaghetti with shrimps and zucchini. The bruchetta with mushrooms was pretty interesting. The spaghetti could be a bit tastier, although it contained a nice amount of shrimps.

Had this place on my 'Want to go' for such a long time; ended up choosing it for a celebratory dinner with family and was impressed! The staff is welcoming, kind and professional. The food was delicious, the wine selection is varied and the overall experience was something we are planning to repeat soon!

The place is stylish, welcoming and with a cozy, intimate vibe. I only got to try the coffee and the lava cake (which was AMAZING) but I will definitely come here for more. The staff is very polite. It's quite a fancy restaurant.

Don't bother. So far in my Transylvania trip this was the worst food I had. Ribs were bottom 5 I ever ate and the BBQ sauce was some store bought mid tier one. The meals don't have sides so you have to order them extra. Portion sizes are small for price. Cocktail was also watery. I tasted partner's food and it was also mediocre.

Truly fabulous restaurant in Cluj with really good food! We came as tourists and ate like kings. The cherry sauce melted our hearts ♥️ Highly recommend for family and friends. Cozy place with great prices.

The food was disappointing. I ordered "ciorbă de burtă" (tripe soup) which didn't have that special taste it should have. I added vinegar, sour cream, hot pepper, nothing helped. It didn't even have enough meat (burtă) inside. Very far from what it should have been. Left it in the bowl. I also had "papanași" (donuts). I got 5 small balls of fried donut dough with a little bit of sour cream and jam. It would have been much tastier if they had added a little salt in the dough. I won't visit that place any time soon.

Been a customer there for almost 20 years, not going back soon. The fist was disgusting, none of us 3 could eat it. I took 2 bites and felt sick all evening. The service ( Adrian) showed up just to bring the food then vanished, we gave up ordering desert and the check was brought by his colleague. All in all, we payed around 50 euro and left kinda hungry.

I went to have dinner with my family, hearing a lot of good things about this place. Made a reservation, arrived on time. The waitress told us we can choose any table. My disappointment came when we were eating our first course and she came to take our plates while people at the table were still eating. And the same happened with the second course. I was expecting better service. Food, on the other hand, was excellent.

Unfriendly staff and unprofessional services. Food wasn’t exactly what I ordered- beef tagliata with rucola - actually it is a mix of bitter lettuce and cold beef, overpriced. Definitely I will not come back.

Had a great time eating lunch with my partner. Service was nice and friendly. Not crowded at all on a Sunday noon. However, the place could use some improvement when it comes to the table set-up and restrooms. We were very pleasantly impressed by the food and will definitely be eating there again in the future.

The food was very good and the prices are very good! I absolutely had to try the Papanași and it was very tasty. The young black hair waitress was very kind and speaks very good English! I am not sure I'll ever come back to Cluj in my life, but if it is the case I will come back to the crying monkey!

The daily menu is always a good choice. But not only that. Quality food in the heart of the city with a beautiful garden to eat outside.

Not a very pretentious place and that is exactly why I like it. The service is impeccable, the food is really tasty (i've tried beef soup, duck with sour cherries and red cabbage, beef steak, various pastas and lava cake on different occasions, and i was never disappointed. The place is neat and tidy and the prices are good. Overall a very pleasant experience and excellent value for money. Strongly recommend this restaurant

Amazing food at good prices. Staff is very nice and helpful, they offer all information you might need about how food is prepared and what it contains. In my opinion, this is a restaurant that definitely needs trying! If I ever get the chance, I'll surely come again (I'm not living in Cluj)

Really nice service, the food was great, really nice plating. I really recommend the poached egg with smoked salmon for breakfast and mushroom soup for lunch. The ginger and lavender lemonade was also amazing. Low prices

We had our wedding party here and it was the best experience we could've had. Everything went great - from the planning and keeping in touch with the venue to the actual event. The staff was incredible, working with us to have everything we needed. They helped us set up the room so as to have a quartet for the event, they made sure the guests felt welcome and had everything they needed and helped us with anything that came up on the spot. We got a lot of compliments on the food and the drinks and everyone had a good time. We will definitely come back to Maimuta Plangatoare for future events!

Amazing food! The Wild Cherry cocktail is wonderful! The food was delicious. The staff is very but very nice and polite. It would be a mistake not to come here and eat if you ever come to this city.

A very special experience. The food was delicious, the portions large, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. The prices are very ok, especially if we think about the quality of services. And it all culminated with Alisa, smiling, relaxed and very welcoming. It can be seen that he does his job with passion and brings smiles on the faces of all customers.
