The story of the death of Mihai Viteazu after a glorious victory is very tragic. You can also read it at the monument at this monastery. The enemies, former allies, killed him by surprise using mercenaries and then disrespected his body. The body was buried here, the head was taken to Wallachia and now rests at Dealu Monastery. The monastery is a replica of the one which existed on Bucharest before communist alterations and it is relatively beautiful for a new one, in a non spectacular landscape. The toilets are very modern and clean, impressive - useful for people on the road.
