Unfortunately, time stopped at the beginning of the 90s. Once upon a time it must have been an impressive facility. Today it is only a memory of the former glory days. You can see it at every step: dirty carpets, old doors inside, broken pipes that hold the carpets in the hall and many other shortcomings. Air conditioning in the room puffs instead of cooling (the room got colder after 3 days). The kitchen does not impress, I did not feel that all the products were fresh, what was more, it was like frying in the old oil. The eggplant paste was unacceptable. The area around the hotel, very neglected. The sidewalk to the city is broken, crooked and in danger of breaking a leg. I do not recommend it, you can have a much better hotel for this price. A great expensive renovation is needed here - because there is potential. On the plus side of the room itself, clean linen, clean towels.

The hotel is outdated and undermanned. To request something is wishful thinking, mainly because the staff won't understand you as almost nobody speaks English but everybody knows how to be a mime. The misunderstanding because of the language barrier came up a few times during our stay. We asked for towels and housekeeping amenities in order to go sleep after the festival and to put up the sign "do not disturb" on the door. We got told that extra towels are with extra payment... the little shampoo in the room also with extra charge... We didn't want any communication with the staff, so we asked for them not to knock and just put the towels and amenities near the door after they somehow understood us. But with the sign that says do not disturb, the staff knocked a few times, waking us in the process when we only fell asleep. The lift didn't work on the last two days, and we had to wait with our entire group for just 1 elevator. They had 3 elevators, but the third is just for decoration.. The room is not clean from the balcony with all the spiderwebs and dust all the way small details of the room. The blinds don't help much as we woke from the sunlight every day.. Feels like everybody is coming to work but not to give service.. the staff are not smiling happy or understanding. And the biggest red flag for a hotel establishment: We left our key each day at the reception so we won't lose it.. I'm pretty sure they don't remember each room, so we asked for different keys, and we got them... I was shocked that someone could easily enter my room because hospitality is non-existent in this hotel. It was an exhausting experience. The breakfast was ok.. plenty of the same each day. As the stay progressed, we ate out more.. First and last time...

Rooms are dirty, it looks like nobody is cleaning since 90’s. Elevator is blocking between levels permanently AC is not cooling it’s only making noise. On the roof is AC which is making huge noise like a waterfall.

The view of the city from the hotel is great. The pool and the sauna are cool and you can enjoy a relax day here. Perfect stay in the center of the city.

The hot water takes long to hit up...the window nets have holes...and I saw a giant locust in the balcony...The rooms need better cleaning!

If I'm being honest, we sorta freaked a bit when we arrived. It was def not what we pictured, and after reading some reviews, we thought about switching. So glad we didn't. The room and bed, while looking dated, is surprisingly comfortable. Taking into account the language obstacle, the staff were very friendly and amenable. The breakfasts were just what we needed. And when it snowed overnight, OMG, it was stunning to walk around the grounds outside. Fantastic views in every direction. Cheap to catch Bolts to wherever we needed to go. Panoramic restaurant is a short walk through the park. Think I'm gonna miss it.

Stayed Hotel Belvedere, classic solid socialist architecture, on the Citadella hill overlooking Cluj; 5 minute taxi ride from station (15 minute down - 20 minute up walk). Check in was fast, the room was fine 3rd floor, two single beds, good balcony view, tv fine and wifi too; guess within a few years there will be an upgrade on furnishings & fittings. Breakfast is served back of the ground floor in the restaurant, all good, standard breakfast buffet and you can also dine on the terrace (service all day with coffee, drinks and menu). One also had dinner in the evenings with a standard menu (saves a trip to town), grilled chicken and vegetables one evening, then pork schnitzel and chips the other; service was relaxed and friendly enough, though tables were very big, fitting 6-8 people. Did not use the pool etc. in a separate ground floor area, you just need to ask reception for an access card and buy a cap (think bathrobes in rooms). The centre was easily accessible by foot 15 minutes, turn right outside front door go straight down path, go left 50 metres at bottom before stream, then right into main street into central square.

The room was very clean but with a significant smell of smoking coming in from the balcony. Staff is helpful, view is excellent - especially if you manage to get a room on the south side of the building. Sauna/gym/swimming pool of good size.

While definitely past its former glory, it still retains its main advantage (the incredible views over the whole city) while compensating for the downsides (e.g. lack of modern amenities such as well thought out power plugs for charging devices) with the charm of something representative of a different era - you half expect to find a framed photo of Ceausescu on the wall. That said it has an amazing traditional breakfast, and the staff is very accommodating, so overall well worth the price (in money and calories spent climbing the hill).

What a wonderful hotel, Sauna pool, gym, people who work there are good, but the restaurant has something to be desired. We waited 1 hour for food.

Nice staff but very sovietic hotel. Breakfast wasn’t great comparing to regular continental breakfast

Lack of option at the terrace. My family climbed the stairs and when we reached the terrace, they only offered us drinks, and not even all of their options were available. When we entered the main lobby, every light was off, it was like it was an abandoned cave that we worked to get to. They wouldn’t even offer ice cream, or anything to eat, for that matter. None of the staff knew how to answer a simple question. It took them 20 minutes to come back with our order of water and a small coffee. When the coffee came, and the spoon that we were given to mix it up was used, the spoon melted. The bartender didn’t even give a warning as to how hot the coffee was.

Absolutely terrible service at both the reception and the attached restaurant. Incredibly rude and incompetent staff. The “non-smoking” rooms smell VERY strongly of cigarettes. The food at the restaurant was microwaved, late, missing items, and the manager couldn’t figure out how to work the pay machine and didn’t seem fussed to figure it out. It took us about 40 minutes just to pay because he kept walking away with the machine mid-transaction. Also, half of the menu was unavailable. Would not recommend staying here and would avoid the restaurant at all costs. Everyone was very rude to us.

Receptionist has poor English, parking is constantly full since they operate the sport facility for the public as well. Breakfast isn't expensive but nothing special here too. The room is very basic, had many hairs in the bath (on the curtains) bed isn't comfortable the walls are thin like paper. The staff never smile and they look very miserable. The hotel is located high on an hill SO, In order to get to the center you ought to go down 254 (!) Steps in the dark it feels not secured at all and a little scary, and... climb it back again.

Used to be good, nowadays (Dec2022), the showers are clogged, the hot water is warm at best, the saunas schedule alternates not both on same day….

A great hotel. The service is very nice. So are the rooms and the pool. Considering it's a 3-star hotel, it is excellent. The view from the higher floors is marvelous.

Check in at 4am was quick and simple although the guy didn't ask our names and almost checked us in as someone else! Room was nice; bed was big and comfy but the duvet was small! Fortunately the room was cosy and warm so it didn't matter we weren't fully covered. Shower was really powerful. Lovely view of Cluj from the balcony both day and night. Could walk to the old town in less than 30 mins or an Uber was around £3. Great location, especially if you're happy walking up and down lots of steps!

It's architecture has more character than lot of new high rated hotels. Crazy views. Location second to none while being surrounded by nature. I'd rather support them then big hotel franchises with standardized breakfast. It's not perfect but the staff is honest and hardworking.

I really loved the hospitality of this hotel. The room was warm with an amazing view to the city. The room service was great too. Regarding the food, I liked the breakfast, but I would prefer a bigger variety for the dinner. Anyway it was good as it was. The bathroom had a bath tub, something I really liked. Overall, it was a great experience for the four nights I lived there.
