Was very happy with my stay at the Hotel Alexis in Cluj-Napoca. Spent 7 days there while on vacation. Seems to be family run. They and the entire staff was very nice to me. And they have someone at the desk 24 hours a day, just in case you need them. I'm from Vancouver, Canada and was visiting Romania as part of my vacation. To get to the "old town" part of Cluj-Napoca from Hotel Alexis, you just walk out the front door, turn left and walk for a bit. It is very convenient.

Pretty bad hotel. When we've arrived there were no light in halls - we had to use flashlights to find our rooms Breakfast is OK Good place if you need just to fall asleep. But you may find the same cheaper

Great location in the center of the city, easy to find. Staff is very polite and speaks English. The rooms are flawless clean, comfortable and have everything necessary. The beds and pillows are comfortable, we slept very well. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice options. Excellent hotel, that deserves more than 3 stars.

Personel were very proffesional and nice. Breakfast tasted perfect. Rooms vere clean and smelled nice. We had room near the main road so I was a bit worried of loud traffic but actually it was very quiet. All in all, perfect hotel experience.

We stayed during the Music festival and I have to tell it was the best locations walking distance from the city centre. The price for night was definitely overpriced but as it was a festival we can understand. At least we had a mini bar for free and AC. The staff was extremely helpful and gave us many recommendations how to spend the time at the fullest.

Friendly staff, the room was perfect for a 2-night stay, air-conditioning fully functional (heatwave in July).

Basic hotel - but I was double charged! Liked · Location is within walking distance from the centre and old town, but it is still a 20-25 minute walk. Clean room. Average breakfast. The deep fried zucchini is very good. I had a room towards the yard and it was very quiet (both towards the outside as well as towards the hallway). Disliked · The hotel interior feels sterile and not cozy. Part of the reason for this is that the lighting in the hotel throughout is cold white and in the rooms the lights are much too strong (except bathroom, where it is not strong enough). Suggestion to management: hire a lighting consultant for advice how to change to warmer light to make the lighting work to the hotel's advantage. Also add a few plants here and there to reduce the sterile feeling. I missed fresh bread for breakfast, only toast was available. The music during breakfast was extremely cheesy, elevator style (maybe suitable for pensioners?). However, the real problem was that I was double charged for a one night stay. I was getting suspicious about payment issues already when the owner asked me if I wanted to change the credit card that I had used for the reservation through Booking.com. (Was it to cancel my original reservation in order to avoid paying commission to Booking.com?) Since the credit card reservation for the second night was never cancelled even though we decided to stay only one night, I had to write and complain. Despite writing four e-mails about it (of course using the correct e-mail adress) I never got a response from the hotel. Finally I turned to my bank showing them the proof and the bank swiftly reimbursed me for the double payment.
