Beautiful place to walk. You should come here on weekends to relax. It is always windy so take your jacket on. The sea is blue and you can walk or run around the beach. There is also a beach cafe where you can take a coffee to go. This is pure nature and I love this silent walks. You will meet always people here which also want to take fresh air. I would recommend.this place. its not a tourist hotspot but a guide for local people. Come.here and.enjoy a Sunday afternoon walk.

Beautiful, quiet beach to visit on a hot, sunny day (2 June 2021) with far-reaching views over the Forth of Firth. Cool, shady places in the woods for a picnic and a read.

Lovely big beach when the tide is out, quite quiet and perfect for dog walks. There is a lot of litter but it's beautiful on a sunny day. My dog really enjoyed her zoomies!!!

One of my favourite place in Edinburgh. The beach is full of shell, magical sunsets and there's a lovely cafe there. Can't wait to go back and see it when it's low tide.

It’s worth it to visit on sunny day because if you know about sitting on beach on sunny day is a different type of vibe …. So, i suggest that check weather before coming to silverknowes …. There is a cafe here which serves nice food & tea. The staff is very friendly. Prices are also reasonalbe

Lovely place. Find the best time for low tide on the website before visiting. Walking through the sea (when the sea is at its lowest level) towards cramond beach is an adventurous experience. The downside: nearest public toilet is 15 minutes walk from Silverknowes Beach and that closes at 6pm.

Not an ideal beach for the kids… but beautiful place to go for a walk (with the right footwear). I tried to walk out towards the sea with the kids but the sand turns to a squelchy mud which was just too slimey to bear! Definitely not the beach for sandcastles and swimming but perfect for a walk with the pooch!

Nice beach on the firth of forth. Good for paddling, picnics, and sea shell collecting. Careful - when the tide comes in it comes in very fast.

Beautiful beach and surroundings. Plenty of space for walking and cycling. Places to sit and enjoy. Attractive picnic spot. Plenty of parking on the road available. Lothian bus number 29 will drop you just few steps away from beach. Nice place to visit in the evening. The airport is nearby, so there will be airplanes passing over your head every now and then.

First time it's felt like normal. Theres plenty of space for everyone to social distance and not bother anyone else. So nice just to watch the brave windsurfers and sun come down, it was soo warm.

Lovely beach, plenty of space, and options to either walk on the wide path, on the beach or in some woodland. There is plenty of grass, and it's very dog friendly. There's a shop with drinks and food, and in summer you will find ice cream vans!

The promenade is pleasant for a walk, run or cycle. But it is a very busy place, especially at the weekend. I would avoid going onto the beach, or if you do to wash hand well before you eat. It is VERY polluted along this stretch of beach. There is a cafe here but you should avoid it as the guy who owns it is very unfriendly and the prices are sky high. Further along in Crammond there is a pub and cafe that are much nicer and if you walk further there is another place that is also nice. Overall it is ok but you do need to watch the pollution, especially with kids and dogs.

Nice Place to visit in evening and Night outs, from this place 15 Minutes of Walking for Cramond Island, always check the safe time for crossing the sea for Cramond Island.

OK, it may have been the hottest September day for years, but the walk from one side of Silverknowes beach to the River Almond estuary in Cramond was lovely. Families, walkers and cyclists were all out enjoying the day. Throwing in a late afternoon walk over the causeway to Cramond Island was unplanned but different, and very enjoyable. A few people seemed nervous but the path is fine…as long as the tide is out!
