A must go for shopping lovers!!! Keep enough time to explore antique shops along the way. Jew Town situated at Mattancherry in Fort Kochi is famous for its antique shopping avenues and is a favourite haunt of antique hunters. Some of the most pristine and historically relevant artefacts are found by our visitors here. While a huge bronze vessel catches your eye first, each of the shops here contains beautiful items with quirky and interesting stories. They are like fractions of history, waiting for the right person to come and finally claim them.

Beautiful market lane filled with antiques, curios, and clothes. Walking here feels somewhat bohemian and moody.

beautiful street at night. The lights from the shops and restaurants create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The street is also less crowded at night, so it is a great time to wander around and explore. It is known for its antique shops and Jewish heritage. The road is named after the Jewish community that lived in the area for centuries.

Went for a nice little walk with all the antique shops around. Bought some souvenirs back home which was not too expensive. Clean and no hassle.

This place was actually once the abode of several Jews until they shifted back to Israel, and their belongings were restored and now are sold as antiques at the town. Moreover, the houses of Jews are also there and you can roam around these small streets and have a look at them. Jew town is a paradise for those who love antiques as here you will find the ancient things not only of Jews but also Indians, Chinese, Arabs and Europeans. It is situated in a quaint backdrop of Cochin and is a must place if you love shopping traditional items. The Jew Street in Kochi is noted for its antique shops which sell curios, pieces of crockery, wooden furniture etc. You can choose from curios, antique pieces of crockery, carved wooden furniture, bronze and brass sculptures, remnants of traditional houses, and jewellery. A nearby attraction is the Jewish synagogue. Kochi is the best place in the State to experience the lifestyle and culture of the Jewish community in the sub-continent. The Jew Town is practically an artist's town. It is lined up with interesting boutique shops selling arts, crafts, antiques, spices, fragrances and heritage items. There are also museums, galleries and exhibitions. This site actually got christened as Jew Town in 1524 when Jews were offered refuge here in Mattancherry by the ruler of Cochin at that time. Jews came from Kodungallore to here and since the place sheltered to them was near to the palace, this place started to be known as Jew Town. Then in the latter part of 20th century, Jews went back to their original country Israel and their left things and houses are found in Jew Town today and many of the families still live here and warmly welcome travelers and this is why you will find that people are quite sweet and lovely to know in Jew Town.

I was there early in the morning before the world woke up from its slumber. The sun was yet to rise and the roads were wafted in silence and an enchanting peace as if from the era when the first Jews walked these streets . The Street and its shops are a riot of colours except the old synagogue that looms at the end of the road in all glory of the bygone days . The good thing about early morning is that you are free to sit by , inhale the air around and be in silence ,perhaps dream of a story from the past . Later in the day the streets are filled with excited tourists some trying for bargain buys at the street side curio shops . The old antique shops around the area will leave you in awe, they are so large and will excite any one with a peek into the past .

One of the best places in Kochi. Nice place to hangout and see old Jewish structures. The markets and eateries are also good. Can easily spend 3-4 hours in an evening here.

Nice place to do shopping in market. Has to be ready for bargain. Pay only half of what they ask.
