We went for lunch, overall experience was ok. I had lunch n dinner from other same class restaurants ( star hotels), buffet was good, but their desserts section doesn’t have much choices. Kids ordered malabar porotta n chicken curry n beef fry, it was delicious. First thing i noticed their customer service, it’s not that great. They should improve that, it’s a star hotel and they r lacking customer service. But view from the restaurant is spectacular, you can enjoy the breeze n greenery. Please ask your staffs to be more pleasant n friendly.

Saying I was disappointed would be an understatement. Of the 4 big star hotels in Kochi, Hyatt hereby takes the last rank. And maybe even some ranks below a few ordinary restaurants. -The serving area was way too close to the tables and chairs making it hard to navigate when there were people in it. -99% of the buffet consisted of ONLY Indian food. There were literally 2 non-Indian items - Shawarma and Pizza. Even a regular restaurant offers a change of cuisine. Atleast Noodles? -Basically everything was cold and hard. I have no idea how that could even happen. A few items losing heat is understandable but all of them?? -Service is atrocious! We ordered Pizza for the table and was told by the server that it would take a while. Understandable. 1 hour go by and no looks of any pizza coming. So, we ask again and they went and got it. It's obvious they had forgotten about it coz no pizza that came out of an oven could be that cold and hard unless it's been sitting outside for a while. -Which 5 star hotel buffet keeps desserts inside a glass enclosure that can only be accessed by a server? Thats one sad way to keep people coming back for seconds. -The ONLY tasty dishes (as far as I was concerned) - Cucumber Salad, Paneer Grill, Chicken Wings, Chocolate Milkshake, Piece of Chocolate cake, and Cappuccino. (Imagine having to pay 2000+ for that.) Also, I was told the Mutton Biriyani was good. So, Im gonna add that too. -The only good think about going there was the fact that we all had a good laugh about how bad everything was. Would I recommend this place to another person? No.

We visited Malabar Cafe for lunch buffet on Nov 30 at 12.30pm. We got one of the best premium dining experience in Kochi. They served a wide varieties of welcome drinks, starters, grills, main courses and deserts. Here are few of the reviews of the food that I tasted. 1. Welcome drinks - there were 4 types including passion fruit nannari, peach ice tea, pineapple juice and strawberry lassi..I tasted Passion fruit and was super refreshing. 2. Grilled foods - Tasted prawns and fish. Both are super fresh, nicely cooked and tasty. **Grilled items are served based on request. 3. Soups - one veg and one non-veg soup was served which is just average 4. Starters - they covered main items like chicken fry, mutton dry, paneer, chembu, chammanthy, some patties..which can satisfy majority of the Kerala taste buds. 5. Main course - Tried mutton biriyani which was outstanding and perfectly blended with masalas. Highly recommended. Rice with almost all vegetarian dishes, fried rice..were also served. 6. Deserts - If you are having a sweet tooth, then enjoy your heaven here with N number of desert items. The pista laddu has a unique taste and got my tick mark ;) All are freshly prepared/baked with an eye catching presentation. Hats off to the baking team. 7. Pickles(both veg and non veg) are of good quality and super tasty especially the prawns and fish pickle. Pappads, Kerala chammathies are also served. The restaurant is decorated with simple and elegant decors and have a great ambiance for dine-in. The staffs were very welcoming and always ready to help. Mentioning my sincere gratitude to Anand and Riyuni, who took care of our table. If you are looking for a premium level dining experience with a budget of 2000+ per head, then Malabar Cafe lunch buffet is highly recommended.

One of the best buffets I ever tasted. The menu is so well crafted to satisfy a wide spectrum of people across the world. Ambience is classy. The theeyal and pachadi was out of this world. So well made with a lot of love. I would definitely visit this place again. The only downside i felt is the desert section. They could have added ice creams

The place itself is so overwhelming. The interiors are done so beautifully that refreshes your mind and soul. Tried their buffet. It has so many varieties of dishes, north indian , south indian. Also there was margarita pizza, and alfam.. that was different from normal buffets.. The starter barbequed prawns and tawa seer fry had a unique flavour. The attirachi samosa and chicken tikka was superb. The palkatti which was paneer fry was average. Kappa meencurry combo was delicious. The thalassery chicken biriyani, was tasty. There were wide options for pickles as well. Also the grill chicken, lamb stew, corn and scaffold rice and vegetable parmigiana, was nice. There were different varieties of salads which were all refreshing.Special mention to the desserts . The mango cheesecake, white angel pudding, chocolate gateux, honey nut icecream, cottoncandy icecream, burfies, all were yummy..!! Each of their item had a unique flavour. The service was really exceptional. The place is such a beauty and the view is so great, perfect for a nice stroll. The restrooms were all so well maintained and so pretty!

We stayed at the Hyatt and came here every morning for the breakfast and it's simply amazing. Good food, a lot of variety. Indian breakfast, English breakfast, continental, you will find everything you can think of. We also came here for the dinner buffet a few times which was also very good. The service is great.

Serene atmosphere makes everything tasty. Hyatt and Lulu group has done a commendable job in building and maintaining this eye candy property on the shores of Vembanad lake. Malabar Café is spread in a wide area indoor and outdoor seating. Cuisine is traditional Kerala food, but the Chefs take extra care about your allergies and spice tolerance if informed. We had a fun evening with family at Malabar Café and enjoyed the nature as well outside.

The dinner buffet spread was mostly South Indian, I think they were trying to do justice to the the name. The spread was very limited and the service was also not so great. Went to Hyatt because we heard a lot about their spread but for us, it was very very limited. For 2000 rs I am sure one can find much better spread at any other hotel in kochi. South Indian food was delicious though. Especially Appam was superb. But for the money paid the spread is simply disappointing. Guess they are good only at brunch buffet. I surprisingly found some of the staff mean but the chef was very courteous. Overall a very average experience. I have tried dinner buffet from most of the 5 star hotels in Kochi, this one is last on my last. Gotto try Sunday brunch someday and I hope that will improve the impression.

First try in dinner buffet in Grand Hyatt, Malabar Cafe. To be honest myself and entire party with me was so unimpressed. The food options are not vast, lack of Chinese cuisine is definitely a drawback. Arabic counter just offering some shawarma and humus kind of stuffs pretty lame. Also labelling is difficult to follow. Some options like pasta, noodles, appam, porotta, nan bread, ice creams all were not known to all of us. We had to ask for the availability. I think either better labelling or clear introduction of how the buffet works would have been helpful. All live counters offering different kind of chicken and fish starters were ridiculously spicy. And most importantly the taste factor was not so upto the mark of the expectations. We were happy about staff service and approach. All together definitely not worth the price they charging. I may not go there for the food factor, but may visit if it was a client meeting or something of that sort as the atmosphere is really nice.

We went for a family lunch 5 of us, 2000Rs + taxes per person.. had a bad experience.. food was not worth the amt we spent , the customer service was also bad.. we had ordered some prawns n fish fry which they prepared and kept it aside on some table and forgot to bring it .. dessert section was almost empty no fruits no Indian sweets..they should ensure to refill all the counters.. we expected more from a 5 star restaurant..

Went for a dinner buffet with my family. Great service and wonderful staff. The food spread was good but we didn't find anything to be very delicious, just average. The garlic naan was fluffy and tasty and I also liked the paneer tikka. The desserts were fantastic and there were a lot of wonderful options to select from. We had a good experience overall.

I went to the Malabar Cafe for their dinner buffet, which had a large variety of mouth watering dishes. The cafe looks amazing, just what anyone would expect from a 5 star hotel's restaurant. All of the dishes, ranging from Kerala cuisine, Indian cuisine, Mediterranean salads, grills, a few Italian varieties and more had a decent quality, only very few dishes stood out. The food was pleasant, but for it's cost I would have expected a little better, but it didn't disappoint. With the countless options they provide I would recommend going early to have the time to try out all of them 😁. They have a delicious dessert collection too, but having a drawback of being hidden behind a glass display and served upon request. The whole buffet was a wonderful experience, but it's not worth more than a one-time visit.

AVOID HAVING BUFFET or ANY FOOD Hayyat Malabar cafe.............. Me and my friend went here on 16th Jan 2021 for lunch buffet. It was the worst buffet in my life. This is a disgrace to be called a 5 star hotel. I would like to call thier buffet the worst in kerala. Please avoid going here they charge per person Rs 2200 and provide pathetic food... Dont go there by watching any youtube videos i made mistake especially Oru Happy family vlog. All are just paid promotions. I not even liked a single dish there and very less options compared to any other buffet. We were served cold food beef fry, appam, porrotta, biriyani, starters every thing was felt like from freezer or microwaved. I had called them for booking and asked for menu. They told me they have special menus and will decided on that day morning. This special menu is a joke.... Cold beef fry, mutton kuruma etc... Fish they provide markel fry... I have been to many buffets...Never seen any 5 star hotel providing markel fry. Funny part is to decide on markel fry they are not providing menu to customers. Please shutdown if you guys dont know how to cook or serve customers. Or learn from hotels like Crown plaza how they serve food to thier customers.. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. Hope by reading my comment people will save time and money. I will post the bill as well in photos. Dhanwin.

I Went for the buffet. Very helpfull staff and food was very nice. But I was not happy that they didn't serve alcohol. If you want to drink a pint of beer you have to go to the bar which is on top floor and then they only serve snacks at the bar. No food. So I have spend 1 hrs at the bar for my drinks and then come down to the restaurant to have my dinner . Which took another 2 hrs. We where ont happy about this. I have a small request to the manager to make sure their is a small area in restaurant where we can order couple of drinks alone with the food. Saves lot of time and running around. Thanks.

I went with my family for a dinner on 03 October 2021 on the occasion of my daughter's birthday, after informing the restaurant manager before hand. We decided to go to Malabar Cafe since we had an amazing experience about 2 years ago in the same place. But regret to say that now every thing was extremely deplorable right from the restaurant manager, staff, menu, preparation and the attitude. This place is thriving on the past glory. My daughter's birthday was spoilt by a bunch of Ill trained, most unprofessional staff with poor, high headed and very negative attitude with no flair for work, which the hotel had employed. Very shameful and highly unexpected from this hotel. Trust me, honest advice, just avoid this hotel.

Dint like the food much. Ordered kofta and was very salty.. asked them to change the plate, but still the same salty curry came back. Butter chicken was very sour. Ambience is good. If not for buffet expect some 45 mins delay

We went there expecting a premium experience. But what we got was just average.Be it the food or the ambience.May be coz it was amidst the busy sunday brunch, the restaurant was overcrowded. The chairs were seen with scratches.Service was very poor.We opted alacarte.food supply was delayed.they told half an hour but finally after long wait of one hour we got to have food. And the taste was also not remarkable .Portion size was way too less for the price they charge specially for the grilled items.Malabar biriyani was ok.not like out of the world.nobody was attending the customers. Not even drinking water was provided after it got over.May be got disappointed coz we expected a classy experience from such a five-star hotel. The infrastructure is good.View is splendid from the balcony.

A good place to have food with your family. Very fancy interiors with ample dining capacity. They have a huge reserved parking space which is a plus. The food is good too. Quantity is decent. Prices are on the higher side. The non veg dishes are better than the veg dishes. Be sire to ask for the daily specials.

This week we went for a lunch buffet. The cafe’s ambience and view is good. All the dishes, from various cuisines had a decent quality, but only very few dishes stood out. The non vegetarian offerings ( predominantly Kerala cuisine) were many, while the vegetarian dishes were few and quality was below par. They have a fairly decent dessert collection too, but many are hidden behind a glass display and served upon request. The whole buffet was a good experience, but it's definitely not worth (INR2500) and deserves more than a one-time visit.

The buffet spread for dinner was not very good and had very less options. They had only three seafood items( Prawns, Kozhuva and Ayala) and one chicken item for non veg starters. The veg options were even less. The mutton in both the curries were very hard to chew. The ghee rice was not good at all. The food was like having from a normal restaurant Overall not worth Rs. 2000. The service was good as you would expect from a 5 star facility

  • 5/5 Ashwin M. 3 years ago on Google
Excellent ambiance, great food. Loved the desserts. Even though 1800 per head sounds a little pricey for a buffet lunch, we found the spread totally worth paying for. For foodies and people who wants to spend a quality time with family and/or friends, this restaurant is a great choice (once in a while for me - when budget permits ;) ).

Went for a lunch buffet on Saturday. I loved the ambience and the table we got had a beautiful view. The loved the treatment from each and every staff very courteous and always pleasant. the quality of the food was good. I was a little disappointed with the spread tough as i felt it to be less for the amount paid. Mainly consisted of normal kerala dishes with few Chinese stir fry only continental was Pizza. All the food tasted good...Also would have been nice if some kid friendly meals were included. My advice would be For those going to dine on a weekday or Saturday best option would be to choose from their menu rather than the buffet.

The food was good, but I did not like the customer service tbh it was a little biased. Thai soul had better customer service comparatively. The delay in taking orders and serving would be another pointer. But the view outside was great, don’t sit out at night there are a lot of mosquitoes. Overall experience was good could’ve been better.

I recently moved to Canada and my parents were feeling very lonely. So for my dad’s bday, I called up Malabar Cafe, and talked to the manager, Mr. Jinil, who was really helpful and arranged everything. He literally cleared every single query we had. So on September 25th my parents go to the restaurant and they were truly mesmerised. Mr Arun and few other served my parents with their hospitality and love, and they could not stop talking about the grand experience they had. They felt they were truly blessed. Thank you so much guys, even though I’ve not met you guys in person, as daughter i could not be more thankful. Thanks guy!! Keep going! I would give you guys 10 stars!!
