I was lucky to get an off-season price for the hotel otherwise it was a 100 dollars more on various booking sites. Just a fluke. Happy enough with facilities and service therefore - if I had paid 100 more, I'd have more to complain about. The a/c was on and on a timer which is fine during the day but at night, it did create some uncomfortable moments. Check the timer before you go to sleep. Located on a quiet street and if you'd lucky, you'd even get a sliver view of the ocean. Walkable to the CBD.

Second time I have stayed here and it's my third time of having to be evacuated due to the fire alarm system in a approx 6 week timeframe. Which I know might be great with a fire but the three times were due to the hot water system/steam from the bathroom. Twice I was woken from a deep night sleep and stood in the street with other guests. I have booked for a weeks stay in Easter but I am having second thoughts due to previous stays with the very sensitive alarm system. I hope if you stay here you will enjoy the great staff, breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms like I do.

I recently stayed at the Argus Hotel in Darwin and I was very disappointed. To get to the 9th floor, you first have to send the lift that only services the 8th floor to the basement, before you can get into the lift that services the 9th floor. Once we finally got to the 9th floor, we were overpowered by a strong, stale odour of curry food that reeked into our room. First we thought it was a cleaning issue, but no, it was our neighbour cooking every night in his room. The constant smell of stale curry was sickening. Unfortunately we couldn't let fresh air into the room, as the balcony door was heavy and wouldn't stay open. The fittings in our room were all old and worn. The desk lamp had one of those energy saving curly light globes from the 90s, and the air-conditioning remote control was temperamental and difficult to operate. The bathroom fittings were in a sorry state. The towel rack was not only loose, it was located above the toilet seat, and could fall on your head at any moment. I found the shower screen very concerning, as it also was attached poorly, and the bathroom door handle was loose and in need of attention. I reported the main issues with the bathroom and smell to the staff, the second time I insisted that my complaint be recorded on their system. This was meant to be a relaxing time, enjoyable time for my husband and myself and it wasn't. We couldn't get away from this hotel fast enough and I will never return to that place ever again.

Enjoyable stay, good value for money and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms are fairly basic but the price reflects that and still very good value! My only issue was that the fridge wasnโ€™t very cold in the room to keep things fresh, and filling the kettle or washing cups without an appropriately sized sink was nearly impossible.

The Argus Hotel in Darwin is more appearance than reality. Reception sometimes seems overwhelmed with simple questions, but at the same time very helpful. The hotel is in a rather plain condition and extremely noisy. After two days we changed our room because from 6:30 a.m. onwards we couldn't even think about sleeping. You could hear every word from the neighboring rooms and even hear the neighbor snoring. Then early in the morning the housekeeping ladies come with their carts that have plastic wheels, why not rubberized wheels. You can hear this trakatraka terribly loud across the tiled floor. The pool, which is so stylishly highlighted in the pictures, is more of a paddling pool. So my conclusion after a week in this hotel. Good for one night to get further but holiday hotel no!

Very clean, lovely staff and plentiful continental breakfast options. Well priced and well appointed. Air con was great and has parking on site. Would stay here again.

My wife and I enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Argus. The staff were exceptional, rooms very clean with grouse air conditioning. The continental breakfast was a plus! The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to centre of town. Overall, an excellent package

We were pleased to stay in that hotel. Very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff is accommodating and helpful. Breakfast includes everything it could not be better than that as a complementary breakfast.

Disappointed with shameful accommodation. We reported issues immediately as they arose but to no avail. The staff said that they would advise their management but never heard anything from management. No recompense was ever offered. We were completely discounted and continue to be discounted by Argus Group as you can see in the 'Form Letter' response from the Hotel below. Your disgraceful and condescending way of accusing the guest when you are clearly at fault is shameful. Just take ownership of the issues that you have at your hotel and be respectful to your guests otherwise you are doomed to fail. This hotel does not meet the price standard that you pay for and is not worth risking your wellbeing. My family and I stayed here for 6 nights and in that time we experienced some of the worst hotel conditions that we have experienced in Australia. We advised the staff of our issues and they were not interested at resolving our concerns. The management of this hotel is all smoke and mirrors with no substance. WE WILL NEVER STAY WITH YOUR HOTEL GROUP AGAIN!

Breakfast included was great and it was nice to have the breakfast staff smiling and greeting you , especially โ€œbellโ€ , to start the day . Front desk staff also very accommodating and helpful . In house laundry and parking also very convenient . I would recommend this hotel in Darwin

A really good choice for exploring Darwin. Just minutes from everything. The staff were a bit noisy in the early daylight hours of the morning outside our room everyday. (We stayed 5 days and we were woken up around 7am daily by staff chatting loudly.) Only a small issue. The rest was fine. ๐Ÿ‘

The hotel is clean and about a 15 minute walk from central Darwin. The rooms are large enough to sleep in or relax between activities. The only disappointment was the breakfasts in the morning, which only consisted of fresh fruit, cereal, coffee and tea, and toast with spreads.

Flight stopover, just wanted a clean room and decent sized TV. Bed was nice and comfy and very clean, but same couldn't be said for the bathroom, which was passable but shower needed some attention. TV great - connected to my hotspot no problem, and YouTube App. Quite a loud hotel, can hear all comings and goings. Some amusing design decisions in this place - not possible to fill the kettle directly from the sink. Overall not bad, I think good value for money considering the alternatives but for a longer stay I may look elsewhere.

Great service, very friendly staff, allowed us to have a late check out at no extra cost, always helpful and good location! Room was always cleaned and they gave the beach towels out at no extra charge for the pool. Loved our stay for the week, breakfast included also was a major plus. Keep up the good work :)

The staff were absolutely fantastic..I called and asked if i could check in early and my room was still being cleaned. They then called me back about half an hour later and said my room was ready if I wanted to check in early. The room is gorgeous! You can smell the cleanliness in it and you can see everything is cleaned everytime. The pool was lovely with a built in spa as well. My daughter and I are absolutely loving our stay.

Service staff, Hana, was great and really nice. She is the most outstanding amongst the rest of the receptionists. I would however like to fault the room as the bathtub was very slippery when wet despite the mats. There is also a lack of screen coverage, hence, floor is always very wet after shower. Needless to say, using the bathtub would likely make puddles of water on the floor. There wasn't room cleaning service daily if you stay below 7 days with them, and if you need one, you will be charged.. Even though the reception staff claims that housekeeping does basic sweeping of the floor daily, yet I could find hairs and litter paper on the floor where I had left them. Don't even mentioned that bins weren't emptied unless requested. Breakfast variety was also very miserable with no cafes serving lunch or dinner, it is also made worse that there isn't any cafes or restaurants nearby and you had to walk at least 15 minutes to the nearest supermarket or cafe.

Since our flight was cancelled before check-in, we tried many times to communicate with the hotel whether it could be cancelled for free. After all, our trip was canceled and we had already lost a lot, but the hotel still insisted on charging us the full price of the room. I had booked an extra night at the hotel, but because of the hotel's behavior, I felt very unreasonable and unsympathetic, so I canceled all my reservations here, but did not recommend anyone to stay. They'll do anything to make money, whether or not the guests want to come back. Are one-time trips, there is no need to suffer!

Good service, late (early morning) check in and check out. Very basic breakfast included with fresh ingredients, continental buffet style.

Had a great two night stay at Argus Hotel. The room was clean and the view was great. Located in the city but away from the noisy streets and the drunk people. They offer underground parking for a small price which is very convenient. Light breakfast, but has quite a few options, the staff was very friendly. They have a gym with a few machines, it has an aircon and a TV. The fact that the pool is open until 10 is a major plus. Definitely recommend staying here.

Great place to stay and not to far of a walk to the centre of town. I stayed with my partner over Christmas 2021 and loved the free breakfast every day. The hotel put on a special Christmas breakfast obviously on Christmas day which was a lovely surprise. The hotel is kept very clean and the staff were wonderful. I have highly recommended this place to others and looking forward to staying there over Easter 2022.

Nice hotel, which is very well managed near the main hub of Darwin. The staff go out of their way to help and is well managed and a decent proce per night.Breakfast could have been more varied, just mainly comprised of cereal, toast and fruit. All in a all,I had a good, comfortable stay here and is recommended.

Great hotel. All the people at reception were very helpful with recommendations and logistics. Great location close to main street of town. Good bar and activities recommendations while I killed time before my flights. Thanks legends

Just the $100 for room. Was told $100 would be out in 7 days when I left. Now, I know monies out (could see in my account) but was back I don't know? In/out? Need a bit more clarification to deposit back in? But, apart from that, a fantabulous place to stay. Rooms lovely and clean, super breakfast and paper to read with breakfast too. I would recommend as close to shopping and CBD. ๐Ÿ‘

The accomodation was amazing! The continental breakfast made my day. The rooms were neat and flawless the moment we entered. Also staff were really welcoming. A special thanks to Cathy and Co. for looking after us during our stay. I had a good sleep and rest. I must say I had an amazing stay and all thanks to the staff. Worth sharing the experience to my family and friends. Definitely, coming back for another stay.

Staff were friendly, helpful and made our stay a wonderful experience. If we needed anything extra, all we had to do was ask. From check in to check out, and through an earthquake, staff were always professional, helpful and approachable. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day. Being able to relax in the pool and spa was wonderful on the humid days. We stayed over Christmas and the special breakfast that was put on was absolutely delicious.

We are loving our stay here. The rooms are so clean and staff made our bed every day. They made sure we had everything well stocked ( coffee, tea milk.and clean towels) The continental breakfast was lovely and staff were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.๐Ÿ˜Š

The rooms were small and basic. The breakfast was disappointing, continental usually have more choices like meats and cheeses. It was clean and staff were very helpful.

Nice rooms. Bathroom needs a rethink. Anyone having a shower means water everywhere and makes it quite a slip risk for hours. Even having a mop you could use to make safe passage to the toilet would help. Lots of thought gon into how the room looks but how it functions appears to have been overlooked.

I don't often leave reviews but these guys really deserve it. The best hotel out of three we stayed at in Darwin by far. Ahmed at reception was amazing- we had a late flight (after a cancellation) and he was kind enough to let us use the lounge, luggage storage and pool after they were booked out. The rest of the staff were equally kind and considerate. The rooms were perfectly clean, comfortable and spacious. Wouldn't go anywhere else next time

Great centrally located hotel in a quiet pleasant street with large supermarket nearby. Bed was super comfy & room nice & clean. Pool was small so perfect for cooling off but not for swimming. The location & good service l experienced, will definitely return to Argus on my next visit.

Nice clean modern rooms. Great staff and very helpful. A tasty continental breakfast everyday gets you off to a good start. Good location at a reasonable price.

Recently stayed there for 10 days - can't fault the rooms or general service. Everyone was polite and staff went above and beyond to meet requests where possible. The cleaners were lovely and did a great job. The breakfast was a nice extra and always well stocked. The only thing I will flag is they seem to selectively take holding charges from some guests and not others. My sister has stayed there many times over the past two years and had never had a hold charge asked for upon check in. This time, we both did on our separate bookings. Her partner stayed the weekend after us, and he wasn't asked for a hold charge. Depending on your bank, the hold charge can also take a while to come back. I wouldn't let this dissuade you with staying here, but it wasn't communicated to me or my sister before check in on any of the communication we received, so just think it's good to other people to know.

I stayed in Argus Hotel from 29th December - 2nd January. Although my booking for B&B the breakfast was horrible as it was just toasties, cereal along with coffee and juice. Furthermore, the receptionist are inconsistent and they aren't the most friendly except for the one who was there when I checked in and out. The restaurant has a limited menu, it's overpriced and definitely does not do room service although the restaurant is pretty quiet. House keeping is good but it's ridiculous that they don't have it on Sundays and public holidays!

Partner and I booked a room with the intention of a nice night away from home and it was anything but. When we arrived although staff was polite, we were moved to a different room to the one we booked. The room we got put in had the wall in shower which we were originally booked to have a bath, the tv in the room didnโ€™t work staff came up and tried to fix it but still nothing. They did try to change us rooms but all rooms left available were separate beds and they kind of defeats the purpose of going away for a night. Iโ€™m sure any other night this wouldnโ€™t have been as bad but for a first time experience was not good, we ended up going back home that night.

Clean and tidy. Good daily service. Limited crockery if you want to eat a take away meal. Breakfast hours great if you have early starts for day trips. Walk to CBD okay other than the heat and humidity making it feel longer.

It's great value for money. The staff are super friendly. The breakfast is basic but it's free! There was something wrong with the plumbing and my room (302) STUNK! They upgraded me for free. If you get in a stinky room, just put a plastic container or something over the bathroom floor drain. And keep the bathroom door closed.

We came this Christmas to stay for a week in Darwin with my family. This time we stayed in the family room . Iโ€™m writing to say that the hotel deserves a 5 star rating. The room was perfect Cleaned every day From arriving we only experienced professional and extremely helpful staff From check in to check was perfect The continental breakfast and the staff that served and maintained the buffet every day it didnโ€™t matter what time in the morning greeted us warmly buffet was excellent and thanks for the extra on Christmas morning for us before our flight home . We have always booked this hotel when coming to Darwin and will say if thinking about booking you donโ€™t need to look anywhere else !! We also found the hotel is close to every thing!!

A nice clean modern and friendly hotel with a complementary breakfast. The breakfast room is also a Thai Indian restaurant (separate review) on the mezzanine floor near reception. It has a pool and spa, strangely situated adjacent to the restaurant so one needs to move through it to get to both pool and spa. Quite odd! The pricing is very affordable and offers a very nice room for the price. We opted for the king bed room for $91. We nearly always book directly through the hotel which in this case saved us $20 off the โ€˜specialโ€™ price offered by the booking agencies which are mostly based in Europe anyway (mostly the Netherlands) A nice, well run, clean hotel at a very reasonable price. (In December anyway) Having now stayed overnight I feel for completeness I should add a couple of things. Although the rooms are clean and modern, it has been designed to a price (which is no criticism) but the noise does carry. Doors opening and closing during the night are very loud and if you are a light sleeper it may effect you. The kettle is loud, the shower is loud. There are two green lights on the phone which illuminate the room with a alien green glow. And a last point about the shower, if you are a large (ish) person you will find the shower recess over the bath very narrow-I did and Iโ€™m not large. Of course this may have been unique to my room but I doubt it. Would we return, absolutely, for the money itโ€™s a great room, not perfect though.

Great location and very clean rooms. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. We were disappointed with the dinner at the restaurant was not to our standards, Laksa was like a yellow curry with sugar and the meat were not cooked with the paste but braised on top of sauce. It was the smallest bowl of laksa I had in over 40 years! The same was for the combination fried rice, meat this time, the meat were all cooked. The restaurant is NOT run by Argus Hotel. Having said that, the "Thai" / India restaurant also deviate from that if Thai cooking. Consolation is that I did not feel hungry after eating
