Room is adequate but bathroom (in particular the shower) was very small and impractical. The shower curtain is made of fabric and doesn't stop the water escaping and going all over the bathroom floor. Hotel restaurant quality very average and service at the bar is incredibly slow. Staff are polite.

A refreshed reception and pleasant outdoor dining and pool area disguise rooms which are in need of refurbishment. While the hotel has done its best with modern furnishings, the bones are old and tired and the lack of balconies and opening windows is a missed opportunity. If you're keen to try the Hilton brand in Darwin you need only pop next door to the more intimate Hilton Garden Inn which has been completely refurbished and presents a far more inviting option.

For a Hilton I expected it to be more modern. Rooms and reception area are very dated. Pool area has limited shade. Not sure I would recommend as a place to stay if you wanted a bit more modern or luxury.

Hotel is dated, particularly the bathrooms. That being said the rooms are clean, spacious, and the staff are very helpful. The large pool was great! Hotel is located an easy walk to most things. There is loads of easy to access parking as well - though I think this is a paid addition. Full laundry for guests to wash and dry clothes. Heaps of free movies to select as well. Would stay here again. Minor annoyances. Parking machine never recognised the car rego. So we always needed to get reception to assist. Also, there is an un-stated $4 room service charge. A standard stubby starts to coat $12. Bit ridiculous. Also, we found that numerous items weren't available. The person taking the order didn't work in the kitchen, which lead to serveral ping-pong calls to see what exactly was available.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast offers variety and quality. Great location easy walk to the city. The rooms are spacious though they need a bit of updating.Nice pool very inviting to swim

It’s located in a nice area, 10 to 12 min walk to the city center and facing the waterfront; the lobby smells very good. It has a nice pool (unfortunately I didn’t have time to use it). However the corridors are not clean. It’s a relatively old building so the rooms (at least the one I stayed in for 5 days) aren’t in the best condition. For instance there was a big stain on the bathroom floor, at first I thought it’s dirty but after some checking and rubbing found out its an old stain and won’t go easily. The lights in the room especially in the bathroom aren’t sufficient if you want to do makeup or something.

Loved this hotel. The staff couldn't be more helpful and caring as my bag went missing from the airport. The room is spacious. The pool is larger than most hotels. Food for dinner was yummy and reasonably priced too.

Unfortunately I have to say service has been ordinary. From forgetting the garlic bread to needing to be prompted about a simple cup of tea. Table sanitary has to be looked into. Saw a waitress wiping down a table with an old cloth. Our experience isn't over yet. Hope it improves. Down stairs amenities access is non existence. Cards don't work in the doors.

People are nice, but hotel is only ok. It’s a little dated and some refreshment is needed. Shower has a shower curtain which reminds me of 3 star cheap hotels from last century. Does not look or feel the price I paid for it. Go to the Hilton Garden Inn next door. Looks old on the outside but they’ve fully refurbished it internally early 2023.

Clean, comfortable, good service, reasonable food....fairly costly for what it is but are there any decent capital city hotels at a modest price these days, post Covid?!

Even though we'd had a booking since July we had not been informed that the hotel was closing down. This meant the pool closed at 7pm, there was no restaurant other than for breakfast, no bar. Photos are from the Hilton next door where we had to go to get food. Floors 4 and 5 were out of operation as they were already being renovated. To top it all, we saw a rat run through whilst sat having breakfast! Reception didn't appear to be bothered when we complained and told us to 'fill the form in after you check out'. Even Hilton support didn't seem bothered about it either. However, rooms were spacious enough, beds were comfy and other than poor at handling complaints the staff were all friendly. The pool was nice and no one in it so our family of 4 had it to ourselves most of the time. A few mins walk from the centre, download the Beam app and use a scooter if it's too hot. Reviewed 20 Dec 2023, 35 degrees, low season, no rain!

Rooms are a bit outdated and need refurbishment. Some rubbish was left in our room from previous occupants, missed by housekeeping. Otherwise the room was clean. Pillow smelt of sweet and I ended up buying a new one from Kmart. Staff were friendly. The pool is good but the bar options limited as we visited in the wet season. Gym and laundry were good. I would stay there again but prefer to try somewhere else first.

Lovely hotel across the road from the ocean. Dinner can be eaten on the pool deck. Easy walk to Darwins main street.

Parking was supposed to be included with the room but upon exiting we were charged. Receptionist said they would refund the credit card surcharge to make up for it, which never happened. No follow up from customer service, very disappointed. The pool and location are the only redeeming qualities, room is quite average for the price you pay.

I was staying in Darwin for work and arrived after a big day so wanted a hassle free check in. I checked into my room and there were marks all over the bed. I was slightly annoyed but thought it could easily be fixed. I called reception and they moved me to another room. I walked into the other room and there was somebody’s dry cleaning on the table, the cupboard door didn’t shut and overall not clean. I was really disappointed and ended up deciding to move hotels at 7pm at night. I then had to wait as the staff chatted and was told to sit while they worked out whether I could get my booking fee back. There was a brief apology from an embarrassed receptionist but nothing from the manager. I had a really heavy bag and had also been lugging it around throughout the ordeal with no offer to help. I never ever write reviews but this really shocked me. Would never ever stay in this place. I wish I got more photos. The receptionist actually took photos of the marked bed.

I have now had the experience of staying at the Double Tree Hilton for the third time and each time, my stay gets better. I travel for business and there is a reason I don’t look for another hotel…I have found the perfect place with the perfect staff (all-to include the cleaning personnel). This place is where you want to reside when traveling to Darwin. The staff is generous, helpful, inviting, happy, and most of all seem to be Great People. You will not be disappointed, WHATSOEVER! Unfortunately, 5 stars is the max…just know they rate more than 5!👍🏾

Disappointing experience not worthy of the Hilton brand name. Food at the pool was mediocre at best, they ran out of tahini dressing and put strawberry yoghurt on the salad instead. When we wanted to eat a pizza purchased outside we were told off in an unprofessional way despite having bought drinks from the pool bar. Rooms are old and staff unfriendly. I have stayed at Hilton hotels for years but next time we will definitely stay somewhere else.

Great place to stay and very central to walk everywhere. The rooms are little outdated but they’re upgrading their bathrooms now to be more modern. Beds were comfy and air con was perfect. Welcome cookies upon arrival at check in were a great addition. I recommend the buffet breakfast, for $29, all you can eat eggs, coffee, juice, waffles, bacon…I could go on. The pool is fantastic and a great place to use for the day after the check out as well.

Staff were very friendly and receptive, rooms were clean and spacious, laundry facility functional and easy to operate. Overall a pleasant and memorable experience.

Overal the hotel is well located and has a very good service. However the hotel and especially the rooms are old. While the beds are fine and comfortable, the bathrooms are definitely too old and do not meet any 5star standard. The hotel starts to renovate them - but unfortunately too late for us. Big plus for us as a family was the very nice pool.

Loved every minute here. Comfortable room with great air con. Washing facilities a bit steep at $6.30 per load but very much appreciated. Amazing restaurants and delicious buffet breakfast A 15 min walk to the town center made the location super convenient My highlight was seeing kids play so happily in the pool. The pool is alt water and just lovely against the heat. Great gym too. Would definitely go back just to enjoy the resort stay

My boyfriend and I were so pleased with the room and thrilled with the staff. Todd even went so far as to help me out with a picture frame I needed for a gift. Lovely staff.

This hotel was not up to Double Tree standards. Low staffing levels didn’t help. We stayed there so we could catch the coach for the Ghan train journey. They were unable to bill us in the morning which lead to multiple charges to my credit card! Including Hilton Honour Points being worthless. 48000 points equaled to $54.95. Will never stay at Hilton hotel again.

The Double Tree felt more like a pleasant bouquet hotel than a Hotel chain. Not to big, not to small. I found all staff to be very professional with easy going attitudes and a warm smile ready to assist. The room was a reasonable size for a family of four, very clean and comfortable. Dinner at the Indian Thai was great and the buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of tasty choices. The pool is a good size, I'd have liked the spa to be a bit hotter, still, enjoyable More than happy to recommend

Doesn’t look amazing from the outside, but well kept decent sized rooms. The staff were friendly, but the on site is very average. Not really an issue considering it’s a short walk to the main strip in Darwin. Location is convenient, near the water, not too far from the main strip, not far from the wharf.

I would not recommend this hotel to a friend. It is very old and depressing. Very average breakfast. Our agent booked us for 5 nights, but we stayed 1 night only and moved to the hotel next door. We wanted to cancel straight away, but would loose $550 which was the rate for the first night. They need to do a major renovation or adjust the price accordingly to the condition of the building. The only positive is a comfortable beds and good pillows and of course the location.

We had an awesome time staying here. Our room was lovely which was on the 3rd floor over looking the pool and bay which we were lucky enough to watch a beautiful sunset each night.. we spent most days enjoying the pool with a few beverages.. the hotel was close to everything and if you needed to go a little further the scooters out the front were handy.. the staff were awesome, answering mundane questions that they probably get asked repeatedly. Do yourself a favour and chose Double Tree.. we will definitely be back . Rich and Fi x

We had a lovely stay here. The staff were friendly and always so helpful. Facilities were good and clean. It was close to shops once we figured out how to cut through the streets! The pool was great being next to a bar/restaurant allowing us to easily watching for out for kids whilst having a meal or drink even in the pool area.

The most incredible service from Todd and Ria at the front desk, honestly made our experience here memorable. They were so welcoming, stored our fresh fish for the duration of our stay and recommended some great places to eat and visit while we were here. Couldn’t recommend this place more based on the service and friendly staff. We even got cookies and a complimentary drink for the evening! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else when I return, thanks heaps guys!

Loved this hotel. Beautiful location along the waterfront in Darwin. Great Breakfasts. The pool was very welcome after a hot day touring. Nice rooms and good service. Learnt that the locals (including taxi drivers) use street numbers to differentiate between the two Hilton hotels on the esplanade....this one is 116!

Great hotel with friendly staff and great happy hour specials. The location is right on the Esplanade, making it a quick scooter into the CBD. Recently stayed here for a work trip, rooms were a good size, with a well appointed desk. Bed and pillows were comfy. Whilst it is an older hotel, everything was well looked after and in good condition. The only thing letting the hotel down is the bathrooms are a little datted. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Darwin.

Great location with close access to the city centre and waterfront. Free car parking for guests. Rooms are a little dated, with the bathroom feeling the most in need of some TLC. Staff were exceptionally friendly and informative, particularly those at the main desk. Onsite restaurant menu was somewhat limited, but servings were generous and enjoyable.

Hilton Honors Review I didn't have access to the 24hr GYM and when I asked at reception the following day [check out day 27.01.2022] I was informed that they were experiencing some issues with some of the access cards and gave me a new card. I was grateful but this access came to late for me to enjoy the 24hr GYM as I was checking out. [I didn't know that the gym access was included my room, only though I did not have access when the card would not access the 24hr GYM]. So I was disappointed that I was not able to access the GYM due to faulty card issues and the hotel staff knew of this problem! I had dinner in Aqua restaurant with 2 friends and I personally wanted to try this restaurant, I was happy with style, comfort and ambiance of Aqua BUT that is all. The menu was so overpriced, ridiculous! We ordered the bread $9 for a small [tiny] loaf that was so doughy, it was awful and disgusting, I would never order again. A burger $25 that was small and came with THICK cut fries, these were NOT THICK. Also ordered the Mexican Palmy and a Classic Palmy, which were ok but still overpriced. Both came with THICK cut fries and these were ordinary. Really the worst meal ever, that bread was disgusting! Mostly good customer service but I did notice wait times when phoning reception, when phoning the Aqua restaurant and also wait time for bar service at the pool bar, customers were waiting and it seemed some staff were not confident or inexperienced. The breakfast was awesome, really good variety of Cold and Hot selection. The room 411 was fresh and clean but still had OLD louver doors for the hanging space and fridge space. [dated]! Plus the bathroom was dated and shower space was small. I would stay again, I did enjoy the service and relaxation time, would have been better with GYM access but I would not eat at Aqua for dinner. Best Parts of my Staycation…😊 1 – BED super comfortable 2 – Breakfast 3 – Clean Facilities [very clean, fantastic] 4 – Pool was good 5 – COOKIE [I would love a Tin of Cookies]

Really enjoyed our 5-nights here. Friendly and welcoming staff often went above and beyond to provide a great guest experience.Excellent breakfast buffet and other dining. Rooms a little tired but still comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Good position with easy (walking) access to CBD, restaurants, attractions and Big Bus stops.

Pretty old hotel, nice pool though. Rooms are dated with tiny shower cubicles and shower curtains. I can't remember staying in a hotel with shower curtains, even in smaller regional towns. Pool will be closed for renovations from 24 October onwards. Housekeeping was pretty much non-existent as toilet paper and toiletries weren't topped up regularly. Rubbish wasn't picked up off the floor or nightstand. Empty wine bottle and used glasses were not taken out of the room. One time the showerhead was left dripping, causing water to pool on the floor and saturate the bath mat. Saw a male Indian housekeeping staff making phone calls while at work. Maybe the rooms would be cleaned properly if he wasn't busy on the phone. Hotel charged for room service before you check out, but the receptionist claimed that the card was declined. Food at the Aqua restaurant was mediocre. My friend had the beef burger and the party turned our to be sausage mince. We complained and was given free dessert. Restaurant Supervisor was very sweet and understanding though.

We booked a twin room which when we arrived was a double room. There were no spare rooms so we were shifted next door with a small pool and advise we could walk between the hotels to use the bigger pool. As we are both in our 60s this is not suitable. Do not use this hotel if you have a choice. Plenty of much nicer places in Darwin

  • 4/5 Joanne M. 1 year ago on Google
We had 5 nights there and a convenient location in town for the stay we had over the weekend. They were open late for our arrival, which was great and the air con was on in our room which was ideal to arrive to. The pool and gym were great and nice to sit out and have breakfast overlooking the pool. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options to choose from and lovely making my own fruit juices in the morning. The beds were really comfortable and contrary to some previous feedback given here, our rooms were well serviced daily, rubbish removed and towels refreshed. It was great also to have a bathtub in the rooms also 👍 Look forward to coming back and enjoying more of this town and surrounds!

Arrived 19th August 2022. 2 adults and 2 pre teen children. Booked 'double double ' room, with 2 x double beds in room. Cost was approximately 5k for 2 weeks, with no breakfast. Initially, we were very disappointed with the room, on arrival. It was very small for 4 people, there was no bench space, no where, but 1 x stand to put our 4 x large suitcases. The bathroom was extremely dated, with old style shower curtain, with corroded curtain hooks. But, as on most holidays, we determined, you don't spend much time in your room. Yes its was cluttered and we didn't have much room to move, as we had 3 large suitcases on the floor. The location was great. It was right opposite the foreshore area, with a fitness outside gym and huge kids playground. The hotel also backed onto the city, which gave us easy access to restaurants and activities in the city. All of the tours we booked did pick ups/ drop offs from this hotel. The staff were very friendly, with hellos, every morning you walked past the front desk. We ordered the buffet breakfast quite often, which was $29 for adults, and $14.50 for kids under 12. Great array of different foods for all tastes. The pool area was fantastic, with enough shaded and sun areas. The temp was just right. And pool side service for food and drinks was a bonus. Yes the rooms were small and dated, but the location and service made up for it. We would go back.

The best was the view and the location. That is where it ends. Very overpriced, we paid almost $500 per night for a poor service. Run down property. The staff was friendly but didn’t deliver. We had to ask for water several times before it was delivered and being told we only get two bottles complimentary for our 4 nights stay. In the morning we woke up to heavy door knocking asking if we needed towels without even saying “Good Morning”. The was AC not working as it should, it was cooling but the room was super humid and everything was wet and on the last day water dripping from the wall under the AC. The service was not what it should be for a 4* hotel. I do not understand how anyone could give 10/10 for this place. Definitely never booking this place again. No justification to charge such high nightly rates.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Wouldn't be an issue if it was priced correctly, but jeez at these prices you expect more and should get more. Bathroom seems to have been transported from a motel circa 1980 Noisy lobby area, lift dinging all night. Music playing, which affects most of the rooms. Honestly I can't wait for a decent new hotel to open in Darwin, because these seriously lacking Hilton hotels will have to up their game or close for good.

  • 3/5 Joanne M. 1 year ago on Google
Just arrived. Everything looks nice enough. But I did expect a better view from our room considering the price. To be paying for WiFi is another thing that I haven't had to do in the other hotels.

  • 3/5 Svitlana S. 1 year ago on Google
Very Old place. Look I believe at some moment in time it had more stars but it became so old that it definitely lost a few stars. Corridors and are dreary, hotel lay out not too amazing all furniture is so old. I'd say 3 stars. Not worth the money. The last night we stayed in an apart hotel and we were much happier as it was new modern and clean.

  • 3/5 Robert P. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel was comfortable enough, but the rooms are looking pretty tired and worn out. Ignore the happy hour at the hotel bar, it's a joke with barely any money off the drinks, and hit a local pub/bar for a better deal instead

  • 3/5 Julie P. 1 year ago on Google
Despite extensive renovations to the poolside going on during our stay, the drilling noise didn't bother us too much. The staff were helpful and efficient.

  • 3/5 Matthew N. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel is very run down for a Hilton. Nothing like the glossy photos. Water leaks, mould and broken doors and very run down on the outside. Would not stay here again. I don't think running this hotel in this condition helps the Hilton brand.

Great pool. Clean gym - new equipment. Well maintained. Staff are great. Surprisingly good breakfast - berry smoothie is wonderful - but you have to ask for honey. Rooms are refurbished but windows don't open (this is horrible). Staff are great. Location is perfect,
