Pool view room was good. Got to sit in our room drinking beers and listening to the band below. Dinner in the restaurant was really good. Location is great if you don’t have a vehicle and have to walk. Not far to walk to the wharf and other places to eat and drink.

stayed in a 4 bed dorm/room (2 bunk beds) and it was very dated, rooms need a bit of upgrading and a good clean! I also found several bugs in the room! The bathroom is decent, shower curtain doesn't reach the whole way though so the floor ends up soaking! The internal rooms only have a sky light but it doesn't give much light to the room at all. I enjoyed the pool a lot, the bar area & the atmosphere. Rooms have a fridge, iron, hairdryer & airer which is helpful. There is also a laundry & communal kitchen. The location is good as its very central but not noisy. I would stay here again but only if I booked a private room.

The Thursday $19 steak wasn't bad. It comes with chips/mash and salad. The sauce is $3 extra. The meat wasn't tender but the 300g rump cap cut is thick and nice. Order one level rarer for the steak doneness as it's overcooked. You need to book on Thursday as it can be fully booked. Other steak are between $30 to $50. The steak is more premium than the general tavern steak but the price is not more expensive, so that's great. The kitchen is open at 6pm, should've open at 5.30 on Thursday to ease the crowd.

Stayed at the Cav for 6 nights in a private room. The room was clean and tidy and did the job. The real winner was the pub itself, good happy hour, good music and really good staff. There is also really good food and steak specials. Its worth a visit at least even if not staying there.

Bring Earplugs! We were given the quietest room (40) with a window to the back of the property. Music was very loud and even after the live music stopped the crowd on a Thursday night took a while to leave. Room was comfortable but hotel/hostel needs some updating.

Went here for drinks and dinner. The have a very good choice of beers as well as wine, cocktails, and all other drinks. An amazing choice of top quality beef steaks rib eye fillet, sirloin, an rump cap as well as seafood. We chose the sirloin due to fat score and not disappointed, juicy thick steak cooked to perfection served with salad and chips. Also the pie of the day, pepper beef pie also served with chips and salad. It took very little time between order and delivery of our meals. If you want a good steak in Darwin then this is definitely the place to go all washed down with a cold one. Highly recommended, this place is the best!

I am loving this place. After having several rums and a fantastic feed, I cannot rate this place high enough. Thursday night is steak night and they have two rump specials, as well as other steak specials. Both rumps that we had of were $19. Each steak had to be at least 30 mm thick, and cooked to perfection. All the staff are keen to help and be sociable, and all the patrons are willing to chat to a stranger and make you feel at home. It is an absolutely must visit place if you are in Darwin

If you enjoy your sleep before 11-12pm do not stay here, they told us the live music would finish at 9pm (this wasn’t true). Very noisy place. Room was very basic.

I found this place to be the BEST, by far in relation to the QUALITY OF THE STEAK, that was served. Possibly double the price of similar places, but if you want the best 👌? I'd suggest not missing out. Live music on every visit, happy hour prices, and an around great atmosphere inside created by the staff. Thanks heaps, I'll be back I DIDNT TRY THE ACCOMMODATION, hence why I have not given any stars under rooms.....

Usually, it's a great steak. Unfortunately, my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes, it was the green pepper sauce. It tasted like someone had dished up 'Morning Fresh' dish washing liquid. To make things worse, my 2 sisters arrived to dinner late and received their meals before the rest of the party. They hadn't processed the order for the other 6 people at the table.

Great staff, great food (tomahawk steak is really good, chicken keto salad was the best I have had), great restaurants area, pool very inviting, my room was very cosy to the pool which was super convenient. Central location. Just remember they have a live Singer every night until about 10pm is near the pub area you may hear it in your room otherwise if you are not near this area you should not hear this.

I stayed in room 8 with ground level, private outdoor area and will recommend to everyone i know. It's 3 star service and quality with a 5 star experience. For an easy work stop over, easy check in, clean modern rooms, central for working in the area Room, drinks and food prices the lowest in Australia. " I'LL BE BAAARCKKK" (pronounced with an Arny accent for effect)

Best steak! Steak night on Thursdays for $19 and it’s great quality. They also have a crispy pork option which is top notch. Its also available in the Sunday Roast option. Super delish 😋

This has to be one of the best mid range hotels around. If you want luxury and a quiet time don't stay here. If you want a vibrant atmosphere with all round fantastic staff plus a great restaurant then this is the place for you. The WiFi is totally rubbish but it doesn't matter as everything else is great. In Darwin stay here. You won't regret it.

Went here for Sunday roast (pork) whilst we were staying in Darwin. Very good quality and large serving (plenty of gravy). Highly recommended 10/10

Good food, just hard with a big table because they don’t like to have multiple table numbers and your food can get lost in the mix, otherwise lovely

Best atmosphere and vibe Bed is okay, bathroom and shower are okay for the price you pay to stay here. Nothing fancy but hey they have $12 cocktails every Friday and Saturday night and a beaut restaurant. Staying here is so convenient

The rooms were comfortable, clean and tidy. The only problem was the noise from the live music and the blinds not being black out. I ended up curling up the blinds on the wall to keep the light out The two latter made it hard to sleep. It was great they had a happy hour and pool. I was lucky that work paid for the accommodation, not one I’d pick for a holiday.

Room tidy enough however PowerPoint's were dodgy (some you couldn't actually plug anything into, others sparked and the one in the ceiling was hanging out and wires exposed), toilet button partly broken in first room then completely broken on use. Staff were prompt to move us rooms. Beds are 2 super kings pushed together. Springy and lumpy. Bed in first room wasn't too bad, bed in second room was awful. Also had a light right outside the bedroom which made sleeping quite restless. Definitely require ear plugs to sleep here, live music going until midnight. Air-conditioning in rooms is fantastic. Pool is great, staff are generally quite friendly, food is okay. Has self serve laundry and communal kitchen. I relatively central in the city which is good.

Gret spot, everything is nice and clean, we have a big king size bed. We got an internal room so nice and quiet and tucked away. Only problem is the skylight right over the bed, not great if you like a darker room to sleep in. The food was good, but took forever to come out.

Good value, excellent location, rooms very basic and water goes everywhere in the shower whenever you use it. Surprisingly quiet considering the pub goes off... Could do with a longer shower curtain than shoulder height 😁

This is a two star hotel at best. More like a youth hostel. My room has no windows and is only just bigger than the bed. Clearly gets continual patronage and the wear & tear shows. Grungy clothes washing room. Major beer garden vibe at check-in and entrance which adds to the hostel feel. There is no hotel parking, so you'll need to leave your car in the Darwin streets.

I like the steak of this hotel's restaurant, but I'm really don't like the male cashier who has long nails there. Every time he has only friendly with the white guys but be so mean with Asian people and never give me a smile or thanks. I'm feeling so uncomfortable and please remind him, be polite and respectful to the Asian customers, we are not his enemies 😡

Central location. Budget prices. Clean linen and good mattress. Full size fridge. Only about 5 guest car parks. Stained carpet. Too short shower curtain means water goes everywhere. Small bugs in bathroom and on desk.

This hotel was loud, the rooms were dirty, the shelves were covered in dust and the bed sheets that are supposedly clean had blood specks on top of the covers, we didn’t even stay in our room for a full hour before checking out. The First Lady greeting us as we got there was lovely but the lady greeting me as I checked out not so much. The bar restaurant looks like it might be nice but we did not stick around long enough to find out. We were not offered a refund for how disgusting our room was either. I honestly feel like it’s just a sketchy place people must go to hook up after having drinks down stairs. My overall thoughts are “disgusting dirty and gross.”

Great place to stay. Nice outdoor bar out front (with TVs, fans, fully covered) and a great pool. Rooms are basic but do the job. Staff were great - they offered lots of suggestions about things to do each day. Location is ideal. Great value for money.

The $12 cocktail happy hour on weekends is an amazing deal - which does attract quite a crowd. One of our drinks was very watery, it was a hot day and I suspect the ice melted. The bar tenders were very kind to replace the drink with an amazing frozen mango daquiri. Highly recommend!

I did not stay at the hotel. We had the lunch a Scotch fillet presumably medium rare. For all the rave about their steak what was served to us it did not meet the standard. The medium rare was more rare than I expected and required a long chewing time. At $49 the steak included chips and salad. We requested to replace the chips with mashed potatoes. We were told it will cost an extra $4. We said OK. The staff probably thought it will put us off from trying to change the standard dish. The mash potatoes came as a small size and were more like hit potatoes than mashed. And I still wonder where went the chips included in the price/dish. How cheap they can be to charge an extra $4 for mashing the potatoes for a pricey $49 steak. It shows to say that the advertised steak was overpriced.

Loved this place, great bar and pool area. Loved the party vibe, cheap cocktails and food. Rooms were very reasonably priced too! Great location close to the waterfront and the city area.

Great location in Darwin, and the rooms had good air conditioning to cope with the weather. I also appreciated the streaming service options during my stay there.

I loved it. The vibes on a Sunday afternoon were perfect. The food was delicious. And the staff were incredible. Michelle at Reception went above and beyond for me. Everyone at the bar and the restaurant were so lovely too. Really impressed with the vibes too. Great location. Just a great place definitely coming back!

Good steak burger, I was recommended the steaks but went for a steak sandwich instead. Steak wasn't chewie like some sandwiches can be, had a good chilli tomato sauce on it also. Came in toasted Turkish bread with the right amount of fries on the side.

We are so thankful for the kindness and welcome we recieved yesterday after our flight home had been cancelled at that last minute and we had nowhere to stay. Travelling as a family with 2 young children and scrambling to find accommodation in the peak season during school holidays was a nightmare but the reception staff at the Cavenagh couldn't have been more wonderful. They found a 4 bed bunk room for us at extremely short notice and allowed us to check in early with all our bags. We really couldn't be more grateful. Yes the room was basic as mentioned in other reviews but it was super clean, with linen, towels and toiletries provided and was just what we needed. Our kids LOVED the pool and we had one of the best pub meals we've had whilst enjoying great live music. What started out as a total disaster turned into a real highlight of our trip. Thank you so much!

Not even worth a star. Without trust, there is nothing !! My Son & I left our room with a do not disturb tag on our door. I encouraged him to leave his tobacco behind. We popped down to the post office, only to return to find my Son’s tabacco had been stolen. Now we are left wondering what else has been taken during our stay ?? Absolutely disgusted.

Live music most nights from 6pm. Cheap schooners and drinks 5-6 $6 each for gin and tonics too. Great menu and food looks lovely. Steak specials on a Thursday.

I only went to the restaurant and the steak is superb. Tims Surf & Tuef is around the corner, and the Cavenagh is much better steak and value.

the local lady from the reception (joyjoy) is rather unfriendly and harsh in her communication. the others are lovely and helpful. NO RECYCELING BINS AVAILABLE - can be improved. stained carpets in the room. very nice live music every evening - great atmosphere!

The friendliest staff and best steak in Darwin make this place our go to whenever we stay in Darwin. The rooms are clean but basic. They have everything you need though. Live music every night so if you want a quieter stay ask for a room away from the Pool. Short walk to Darwin Waterfront for pubs and restaurants or into Darwin itself. It's the Staff though that make the Cavenagh such a nice place to stay 😁

👍👍 I came here for the first time and the food was incredible! I will admit, it is a little pricey for its portion size, BUT the quality is incredibly worth it.
