Entry is strictly restricted nowadays, but if you are lucky enough to get there this is going to be one of the best trip in your life. Dam is located inside densely packed reserve forest. This supplies the drinking water for cities like Coimbatore in Tamil nadu. There is a natural waterfall in the hill. The waterfalls and the Dam are big tourist attractions. The famous 150-year-old Pattiyar Bungalow is on the banks of the Siruvani Reservoir. An agreement was executed in August 1973 between the state Governments for drinking water supply to Coimbatore town and neighbouring areas from the Siruvani Dam. The location being in the state of Kerala, the project was executed by the Kerala Public Works Department using the funds made available by the Tamil Nadu Government. Coordinates for enthusiasts: 10.9767°N 76.642°E

Please book the entry early, otherwise forest dept check post will not allow you to enter. Recommended to drive 4x4 Jeep or a suitable trucking vehicle. I took a drive by car but I don’t recommend the same to some one. It was a wonderful journey into the forest. Please do not stop the vehicle and get out into the forest to take pictures or anything, if you do, you may encounter with leopard or tigers.

Its a Little Gem, A long drive in the midst of very thick vegetation , lovely back waters and a falls in the back ground. Add to that an opportunity for wildlife encounters. The route too is very picturesque through rubber plantations and valley views. No special permission required for entry through Kerala. Just have to pay the vehicle and guide fee(500+300+30 per head)

Siruvani is located about 46km from Palakkad town in Kerala. You need prior booking to enter into the forest. The ride inside the forest is in our own car and upon reaching the checkpost a guide also will accompany us. The view of dam surrounded by mountains covered with thick forest and waterfall is an awesome scene. With prior permission, we can stay overnight in 'Pattiar Bungalow' facing the dam. Another 4km, we will reach Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and we can have a look on Coimbatore city from the top of TN outpost. The best time is during and immediately after monsson (June-Dec). The chance of seeing wild animals is purely under luck.

Got Disappointed. The Dam was closed at 2018 and nobody is allowed to visit . On enquiry I found that due to heavy floods and road damage the safari is permanently closed. They say so much of tourist come here and gets disappointed. The Government website shows it's open but actually it's closed .But there is a small patchy road right in front of checkpost which leads to a village where you can enjoy the Nature . Hatchback cars will be best to go through this .MPV and SUV are a bit difficult to go through as the road is narrow and a big car can't turn at the U-bends..

We must remember ExCM Kamaraj for his greater contribution and selfless leadership. With his efforts only we got many dams to TN. Siruvani is one among them. Siruvani Dam is reserved area, only with prior permission from forest departments and TWAD one can go freely here. Scenic view, Pleasant atmosphere out of world.

It is situated at Kerala Palakkad district. The route mentioned by State highways is completely wrong please don't believe this route (Perur - Isha - Siruvani) . The road ends up to Siruvani waterfalls only. I would request SH authorities concerned to remove the route board of the place in the road.

The government road sign said that Siruvani Dam was 15km away. Turns out that wasn't even the right road and that there was no way there and that you don't have permission to go in. Total waste of planning.
