The
idol
was
mesmerizing
and
my
wife
and
I
sat
down
for
some
time.
The
temple
priest
(an
old
guy)
asked
me
to
come
and
sit
next
to
him.
I
hesitated.
He
then
proceeded
to
make
some
enquiries
and
I
told
him
that
I
don't
speak
Tamil.
He
explained
in
broken
English
that
he
needs
to
pay
Rs.30,000
for
the
villagers
who
make
gingelly
oil
and
that
he
doesn't
have
money.
We
asked
him
if
we
can
make
the
donation
by
card.
He
said
that
we
should
send
money
through
GPay.
I
transferred
30,000.
He
asked
me
to
visit
the
temple
the
following
Friday
and
asked
me
to
bring
over
fruits.
I
did
visit
the
temple
and
the
other
priests
did
a
Puja
and
kept
telling
us
to
meet
the
head
priest,
who
was
sitting
in
the
car
that
was
parked
in
the
temple
compound.
I
hesitated,
but
they
kept
telling
us
one
after
another.
There
in
the
car,
he
asked
me
to
sit
and
did
some
small
talk.
He
later
proceeded
to
ask
for
2
lakh
rupees
saying
that
his
child
has
to
undergo
heart
surgery
and
that
he
would
return
the
money
in
a
month's
time.
I
politely
told
him
that
I
will
not
be
able
to
help
and
left
the
place.
The
whole
thing
turned
out
to
be
very
suspicious.
The
guy
refused
donation
by
card
earlier
and
takes
money
on
GPay
and
then
cheats
devotees
of
their
money.
Please
don't
use
bhakti
in
this
way.
If
there
are
temple
trustees
who
care
about
what
is
happening
in
the
name
of
vinayagar,
I'm
ready
to
lodge
an
official
complaint.
Devotees
please
be
aware.
Don't
fall
for
the
tricks
of
the
priests,
who
are
just
using
god's
name
to
fill
their
pockets.
I
felt
betrayed
and
cheated
and
wanted
to
forget
this
episode.
But
I
am
taking
the
trouble
to
write
this
at
5
am
in
the
morning
with
the
hope
that
vulnerable
devotees
will
not
become
a
victim
again
to
this
priest.
