The graceful walk : Annamalai/Indira Gandhi Wildlife sanctuary, Tamil Nadu Situated in the Western Ghats, the Annamalai Sanctuary is surrounded by various other wildlife sanctuaries such as the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Eravikulam National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary (more on these later). Perched 1400 metres above sea level ensures that this is quite literally is a sanctuary for people to come and rest and rejuvenate among the lush and peaceful surroundings. Don’t be surprised if you come across an elephant wandering in the vicinity. However you could voluntarily choose to see one during an elephant safari into the forest, that’s available twice a day. The park closes down from February 15 to April 15, so plan your holiday accordingly. The traveller can feast his eyes upon many scenic waterfalls, tea estates and reservoirs in the national park as well. It’s a day trip from Coimbatore or Topslip and you definitely should make it. How To Get There: The best gateway for the Sanctuary is Topslip (70 Kms from Coimbatore). Other gateways are Amaravathi (90 Kms from Coimbatore), Sethumadai (5 Kms before Top Slip) and Valparai (92 Kms from Coimbatore). There are plenty of trains and flights to Coimbatore from Chennai after which all the gates to the park are a short drive away. Where To Stay: The park has a large tourist complex at Top Slip that houses many cottages, rooms, and dormitories for visitors. Visitors can get around the park by trekking and a safari van.

Very disappointing experience. I would recommend parambikulam (which is just 2km) to topslip for a great forest stay experience... Background - We booked tree top rooms at topslip. We understand it's in middle of a forest and weren't expecting star hotel (though the price was!) facility... but what we saw was not acceptable. The entire room was moldy, steps to the tree top rooms were rotten and dangerous. The rooms was dirty and unkept... and sheets were with some weird strains, etc... to summarise, it was un liveable... We raised this with forest authorities... and it appears they are aware of the situation but their higher authorities didn't want to invest to maintain these rooms. Pathetic! Best, avoid this place and go to parimbikulam which is better maintained and offers better tours... Regards, Radhey Shyam

Jungle Safari for the name sake . Better choose to go Parambikulam just 2km ahead of Topslip. try to reach early in morning by 8 or 9 AM. There are two safari option 1. Mini Bus which require no booking nothing. just park your vehicle at reception parking n board the bus which is already waiting. you will get the ticket inside bus only for 200 per person. 2. Secomd is jeep which require a group of 8 people for 3000rs . if you are in group of 8 that is better enough otherwise club with others waiting at reception. let the reception guy informed that your group is formed n he will mention your name for upcoming jeep ride. 3. it will take some 2hrs ride for whole safari . you will be able to see some deer , elephant bison n black monkey . nothing else ...

Nice scenic drive. Go early for good safari drive. Carry food with you as there are few options. Elephant sanctuary is also good view. Hard to see tigers. Overall nice place.

The experience was not that great 1)You can spot more animals while going uphill than they show you in the forest ride. 2)The boarding process for the forest ride is not organized 3)The Vans that they use for the forest ride are really in bad condition. Doors cannot be locked , windows cannot be closed, seats are damaged etc. 4) There is an elephant camp on the top of the hill named Varagaliyar Elephant Camp. Actually there is no signboard saying no entry for private vehicles. We understood because people enroute told us. 5) Cash is the only payment method. There is no ATM in the proximity. 6) They say the Vans and Jeeps that takes you for the forest ride has gone downhill for refueling. It is on a peak day (Saturday)of a long weekend on which the reserve should be expecting an influx in the number of people visiting and should have been prepared.

Booked the accomodation at Sethumadai FRH 1. It was like a godown. Some office material was stored in the guest house common areas. Bathroom door did not have a latch, geyser was not functioning . Badly maintained. Paid Rs. 3250 for three persons for a room like this .

Visit this place too experience the scenic beauty. There are safari's available for the tour. Generally there will be a tour guide to explain you about the place. There are resorts available if you are planning to stay back. I didn't know that so I stayed a little far from topslip. Do the booking reservation before the trip to avoid any issues later. Organic honey is available here. There is also a small gallery on top slip showcasing different types of wild life. There is a local guide called "David baby " is pretty well known of this area. Well maintained. It was a fun trip ✌✌

The Anaimalai or Anamala Hills, also known as the Elephant Mountains, are the range of mountains that form the southern portion of the westrn ghats and span the border of Tamil Nadu and kerala in Southern India. The name animala is derived from the tamil word anai or ana, meaning elephant, and malai or mala, meaning hill — thus Elephant Hill. earlier known as Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park This is good place for riders.....its clean road with swift turns and also got good views for riders snapshots...the only thing u got to takecare while posing for photos is elephants.....elephant crossing is sooo common in that route And also there is board showing " dont feed " with the pic of a tiger.....😅😅😅

One of a memorable picnic spots. Elephant ride gives pleasant to children. Group of deers, wild boars and elephants are added scenes in the trip but a rare view of tigers.Tall and dense teak wood and bamboo trees adore the hill forest. Thunnakadavu and Parambikulam Dams at further stretch of topslip are wonderful with tree top, bamboo houses and many more. In total, a satisfied trip to everyone at this tiger reserve.

Place was tooo wonderful. 2016 we visited there. From there we took ticket for their bus. It was little expensive. But that we saw a KSRTC bus going to forest with village locals. Later understand it was bus route. So I felt KSRTC bus was better to choose for reducing cost.

Hi Just want to share the worst customer service experience I have faced for over 8 months this 2020. We had made a reservation during April, 2020 at Topslip and due to the unfortunate circumstances cancellation was processed by the Anamalai Tiger Reserve on 27th March. Soon after I have been trailing with over 50 odd mails and several calls to the customer support executive. Everytime I was been told the booking was canceled and we processed your refund. But nope, it's been 9 months and we did not receive any refund right until today. This was such a disappointing experience for me. Did not expect that a reputed organization such as this can turn out to render the poorest response. Being a local guide, it's my responsibility to make sure everyone knows the facts clear.
