The hill is very beautiful and view is mesmerising from the top. One should definitely plan a visit here. 30km of trek both sides and it is going to test ones skills... This hill is called the kailash of south and one of the most sacred hills in South India. Normally people go barefoot but one can also go with ur shoes on and trek. One should definitely need a stick to climb up and down and it will be available in the temple for 30rs. The trek will take 6-7 hrs to complete one side if you are a beginner. But most important is the crowd, there will be many people because the hill is open to climb only during February to may. The right time is to start the trek at night to avoid trekking in the sun. Consists of 7 hills, first 3 hills are full of steps then afrer 4th hill the view is very beautiful. Then one should climb down to a hill to complete the 6th hill, then finally the 7th hill.. Carry enaugh water with you..there are shops along thr way..but they wont provide water, only lime juices are available there..

Velliangiri hill: It is open now. Started the trek at 7 am and reached the top around 1.30pm on 27th Feb 21. This time, it is really a tough trek since there is no shops till the top. It is officially announced that the hill is open to public from 1st march 21. There is no water in the hill except 2 or 3 places near the end of third hill and one more at 5th The sunai (pond)at 6th hill is also have very less water. On the way top, so many places we can see elephant dung. The hill is too hot. Started at 2.30 pm frm and reached foot hill at 5.30 p.m. carry enough water and start early in the morning.

-So called South Kailash - Western ghat(guards)❣️ had a great experience and adventurous trekking. Saw its beast mode as well as the Angel mode at my whole journey. - This temple is 30km away from the Coimbatore railway station. Transportation available and it's 2km away from Isha yoga center. - Things required for your whole trip : bag, water bottle (other than plastic since its plastic free zone), jerkin/rain coat (both top and bottom), muffler to cover your ear, torch light must for night tracking, a stick (your savior - you can buy at base for Rs.30/-, fruits, biscuits or some foods (either you can get it for double the cost or triple the cost based on mountain height). Only 20 to 25 small shops are there through the whole journey and bedsheet or a banner or a tent if you want to stay. (Take as per your requirement before climb) - unexpected : forest fire (saw it from 5th mountain), heavy rain (6th mountain), snow storm(7th mountain), slippery paths, small torch light which I bought at the base, lost its power while climbing so better to take big one or buy 2 to 3 small torch lights (Rs.20/-) and finally a jaw dropping nature from 5.45am. - Season: March to May. Only 3months per year allowed. - Women at age of 10 to 50 are not allowed. - Time taken to reach destination 7 to 8 hours. Time taken to reach base 5 to 6 hours. - On the top of 7th mountain we can see, Lord Shiva(suyambu). You must pre-planned for this trek. Like a marathon you must take a preparations for long and adventurous walk. You can wear slippers or shoes or without them can take a walk. Three places in mountain have small fountains to get drinking water. Mostly no shops will sell you the water bottle. Only you can get kambangkoozh, lemon juice, buttermilk and few snacks. Since there's no specific transport in mountain, only manpowers used for transfer the things like food items. That's why the price ranges are doubled and tripled. Your stick is the savior of your life in many ways. Without that stick it's very very difficult to complete the trek as expected. There is no place to stay or to take rest in 7th mountain, you should return to 6th mountain to relax yourself. Once you see the Lord Shiva at the top of all mountain you will surely get goosebumps. Breathtaking views at early morning and jaw dropping nature around everywhere. - At the base, neat and clean bathrooms are available. They're well maintained too.

Challenging trekking the path consist of seven hills 7th one is the highest peak. The place is open only from Feb to May. Personally I found 1st hill to be most difficult while climbing up and down.5th and 6th hills are easier to climb.7th hill May seen tougher but it is not so we will start climbing automatically in order to reach the summit so 7th hill will not be a big deal . Travel with a gang so that one can help another while climbing. If you are exhausted don't sit down for relaxing, just stand still at one place and after feeling better start moving.there are many small shops which serve some refreshments and tea.The price of commodities increases as the height increases and you may not feel it so costly because transportation of goods is really difficult there. One thing I wish to say is always travel in groups, solo travel can be really risky. You will find water in 3rd hill and 6th hill. The temple is really beautiful and the place is worth the trek.once you get down you will feel an achievement. In the foothills they will provide you free meals don't miss it.Only gents are allowed to trek.

Follow this journey 1) First Visit adiyogi mayam . 2) Eat dinner there and get ready to hike around 10pm 3) Hike during the night time it's more thrilling 4) Bath at the small pond there around 3 or 4 pm it's something new experience 5) Reach the top around 5 6) wait for the sunrise and experience the view 7) During night you can't experience the beautiness of the area, during day it is on whole new level

Nice temple & power full god, to reach the top temple from base will take five to six hours & we need to cross six hills during the period. Please keep required water and other food items during your visit. plastic covers & other plastic items are not allowed. Forest department permission required to climb the hills. Walking sticks required to climb the hills otherwise very difficult to reach the top.

Had a Pleasent spiritual journey. Mountain hiking is little tough but gives immense pleasure. Temple premises needs more care on cleaning. Devotees should avoid plastic waste throwing in forest areas.

Wonderful trekking place in South India. This hill is near coimbatore. The trekking dist is around 15km (unsure of the exact distance). Its a combination of 7 hills. One of the most difficult hill to climb.. First two hills are made of carved steps from rocks.. Rest are mostly rocks and steeps... First and seventh hill is most difficult.. Would take around 11-13 hrs to go up and come down. Best if you climbbon the eve and return before sun rise or else you will get sun burn as the elevation of the hill is higher. I got sun burn. Lol.. No food is available over the hill.. But you can buy juice and seasonal fruits from the local shop in the hill. Keep enough money to buy such things as a small cup of butter milk or lime juice costs around Rs.20 - Rs.30. Water can be fetched from the running water in the hill. Its natural and good to taste and also healthy. No proper washroom facility available here. So better get cleaned up before climbing and reach down as soon as possible. If you are climbing at night take a torch light as there wilp be no lights over the 15km trekking. Enjoy trekking

The temple is situated about 3.5km from isha yoga centre, Coimbatore. The season starts from Shivaratri onwards and lot of pilgrims from different States are visited on these days. Womens are not allowed to trekking here. Men and transgenders are only allowed to climb the hills. This is not simple or moderate trekking ; although, this was the hardest trek that i had ever experienced in my life. If you are planning for this Trek, you have to prepare your self, otherwise you will be in trouble. It will take about 8 hours to reach the destination. There are seven hills you have to cover on your path. Plastic is prohibited in that area, so that you have to take your food items in a paper or steel tins. You can aslo buy some snacks and water during your trekking at some points. Climbing the first hill is the most toughest one. If your are travelling at daylight that will be good, if it is after 7pm you can't see anything infront of you. So that, you have to take some torch or you can use your flashlight in mobile phones. There will be network issue for the cell phones. You can't stay on the 7th hill and you have to come down to 6th hill to take rest. The way we have to walk is very risky and there were no safety measures and precautions from the side of government. So you have to take care of yourself. The trek was really adventurous. I was not prepared and preplanned for the trip, so my legs is in pain 😅. Your bag must include torch, some food , water and woolen or jacket.

Perfect place for a one day trekking. Suitable for both spritual guys and adventure lovers. First 3 hills will be bit challenging but after that you'll enjoy it even though its still bit tricky. Drinking fountain water is a boon of mother nature here. Morning sunrise is another gift for us. Best part is the place is still have essence of raw nature. Love Adventure? Love Velliangiri Trekking.

It was an amazing experience to visit this historic place also known as South Kailash. This ancient shiva temple hosts twice a year walking to the highest peak crossing seven mountains. This trial is allowed only for men. One needs to go through the rustic and raw forest areas with utmost care with steep steps. This temple is situated in a dense forest and closes by evening 6pm.

Om Namah shivaya, must try once in life time. Thanks for my friend pushparaj and his brother Nambi, who gave me an opportunity and a hand to climb the wonderful hills and to have the dharshan of panchalingam. Initially they said first, third and seventh were tough to climb. But all the seven hills are tough, but if you try you can, simple if I can anyone can. As far as to me seventh is easiest one which by itself make you to climb fast since it has nothing to hold so the fear will make you to climb it fast and the urge to see lord Shiva will also. Om Namah shivaya

If u want to truck in velliyangiri to have darshan in the top of the mountain. Pl. Avoid friday, saturday sunday and holidays. There is heavy crowd that you cant enter the mountain. Not only that its very dangerous to climbing that mountain with heavy crowd. There is no facility at all. With gods grace nothing wrong happening their. Management and govt giving very little attn to this crowd control. When we visited on Saturday there are thousand of devotees waiting to climb the mountain. The crowd not guided or controlled all are waited in the entrance steps pushing and pulling. Not even a single policemen to control the crowd. High time TN govt give attn. To this. RESTRICTED and PRE BOOKED no. Of entry will give lot more benefits to the nature and devotees. Hope govt will take action soon. 'Om Nama shivaya'

I went there last when I was in 11th class. I have not been able to go there again. It is not a hill station or a resort type location. There is a temple situated at Velliangiri foothills🌄🗻. There is ample space to accommodate roughly a thousand people easily. It is a pilgrimge site and there is a Lord Shiva temple situated on the 7th hill. It is a trekking place and is open from Feb-end to May every year. You can do a brike trip/ride till Poondi village and from there you'll have to trek further to the top if you plan to visit the Shiva temple. There are no places to stay (like hotels or resorts). There is basic stay in the Poondi temple premises in the form of a hall or dormitory. There are toilets outside the temple premises. The parking space and temple is not differently-abled accessible. There is also ample place to park your vehicles. Your vehicles 🚍🚌🚕🚐🚙🚘🚗🏎️🛺🏍️🛵🚲🛴 will be out in the rain ⛈️🌨️🌧️🌦️🌀☔❄️💧🌊 and the sun 🌟⭐🌞🌝☀️🌡️🌠🔥. There is limited covered parking space in the way of trees 🌴🌲🌳. Overall, a good place to go with your family is for your spiritual journey.

Total 7 hills and first 3 hills are steps and after 3rd hills there is no steps, it's fully rock and slopes. Nice place for trucking and devotion. Natural and hygiene place because the environment is free from pollution. The smell from the trees feels very fresh when climbing. People who climb on nights should take torch light it is very much necessary and stick for climbing. There is only few shops on the hills so it is good to take extra water bottle before climbing up.

This is not a normal temple. It is called 'South Kailash' or 'Tenkailayam'. Same like Amarnath yatra, here in south Western ghats, devotees visit panchalingam which is suyambu lingam after crossing 7 hills. It's a reserve forest area so you can see monkeys frequently and elephants too only in late evening. Nice place to visit, have better car parking, currently road construction work is going on. Only gents are allowed to do yatra and currently the way is closed. Those who can't visit North Kailash, they can visit this temple. Public transport facility is there.

Velliangiri mountains are one of the most difficult trekking spots. Best time to trek- The trekking season is from February till May every year. . About Trek- Located on the Western Ghats, the hills are a part of the famous Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the Velliangiri Hills are considered as the Kailash of the South. The hills are a popular pilgrimage spot as well. Dedicated to Swayambu, which is a form of Lord Shiva, the temple on Velliangiri Hills is a preferred meditation spot for sages, Siddhas, and siddhar. Legend has it that this is temple was where the Lord himself performed a cosmic dance which was requested by Uma Devi, his consort. Of all the festivals, Maha Shivratri is celebrated with much ardor and faith here. The lush hills are a trekker's paradise as they are located at an altitude of 2438 meters, so do carry your walking shoes when you make your way to this picturesque landscape. . Buses are available from Gandhipuram bus stand for every one hour. Initially, you can visit the Adhi yogi temple and spend time their for about 2 hours. Then reach at the bottom of the hills via a share auto which costs around Rs.30 Per head. Shops will be available at the bottom of the hill where you can have food and buy the things you missed to carry on "Always try to start the trek by night" That's because you have to trek barefoot, yes barefoot! So it would be really difficult to trek in the daytime as the surface will be very hot. You can very well go with your shoes and slippers on if your purpose is solely trekking. 99% of the people would prefer barefoot as its considered to be a sacred place and they go on to the top of the mountain to worship God. Things you should know before the trek- Not even a single plastic material is allowed to carry on the mountain(except water bottle). At the bottom of the mountain, guards will thoroughly check you and even the biscuits covers are not allowed. But.. don’t worry…. they have paper bags, in which all your materials will be transferred and will be returned to you.
