Awesome place where Lord Melmudi Ranganathar resides and the place is situated at the top of kurudi malai , one should trek to reach this place , the place and it takes about 4 hours to reach the place , you can find few water streams when it rains , the trek goes via lush green forest and on rock beds , one the Tamil month of puratasi it is opened to all , but in other months we should get permission from forest department and it has two trail or ways , one way is from thadagam region and other is located near palamalai Ranganathar temple exactly opposite to the entrance of sengothai thayar temple , and after reaching the Melmudi Ranganathar temple , you can trek to the place called nadukandapoli which is highest point of that mountain , and view from there breath taking you can view all thadagam region , periyanayakanpalayam region even bhavanisagar dam catchments during a non Misty day , and the temple is being reconstructed , and one who wishes to donate can donate their funds to temple

The forest looks good and cool once we see it, but if you enter inside it is very dangerous. Same for melmudi, you have to climb 18000 steps to reach the temple. You have to take all safety measures if you are going to the temple. A stick is very must if you are entering the forest. Should carry 2 liters of water bottle. No plastic is allowed inside the forest, not even a single chocolate cover so be safe. If the ranger found any plastic you have to pay 2000 on the spot. Also children below the age of 8 are not allowed inside the forest. Also only in the October month we are allowed to trek no other month we are allowed. In case a ranger is spotted you in between any other month inside forest then it's very risky as per act.

Awesome Ranganathar Temple. One of the best place for trekking. Avoid polythene cover and plastics for save wild life. Walking time is 1.30 hours to 2.30 hours based on walking speed. A small water falls in there between starting point and temple (Almost 1 hour walks from entrance). Use backpack for snacks and water bottle carrying. You will get free food (Meals) at temple. Another one sivan temple also there from Melmudi. But it will take another 1 hour to reach that Sivan Temple. Enjoy yourself. Happy journey to all. 🙏🏼

It's such a elegant place to refresh our soul and to test our body strength and strength of mind. You can reach the temple by a travel of approximately 3 to 4 hours. When you reached the Melmudi Ranganathar temple, you can go to shiva linga statue in the top of nearest mountain by a travel time of another 20 to 40 minutes. Here u can see the view from top of the hill, from here we can see Maruthamalai temple (such a fantastic view) and we can see the view up to mangarai village and that road heading towards to Aanaikatti. On the another side you can see the Beauty of Nilgiris Mountain. If you reach this top of this hill earlierly by around 8am we can enjoy the atmosphere in ultimate level. Those who loves trekking this place is such a perfect treat for them. Enjoy guys.

The Melmudi forest area is equal to vellingiri hills. It is excellent place combined with Nature. But all are not allowed to travel in forest area so the volunteer's must get permission in Coimbatore forest office. Parking facility is only available at palamalai temple.

If you have any doubt in reaching the hills, ask the locals and they will tell the way. The trek was an awesome climbing experience,it takes an average of 2.5 hours to reach the top. There are 2 routes to climb to the top,the route from thadagam is steep and short, while the one from palamalai is a little long but filled with beautiful views and a bit easier. There are stay facilities available on the top, so if you wish, you can go for it,Food will be provided by the people of the temple. If you go to the top ,make sure you visit the sivan malai and bangala medu. When it starts raining, climbing and descending becomes difficult, so make sure to check out the weather. Would highly recommend for those who love trekking. Only open to the common public on the Tamil month purattasi saturdays.

Excellent place for intermediate level Trekkers! We went on the Tamil Month of Puratasi - Saturday. Took Tadagam route, There's no road to Trek start point. It's off-roading with loose sand for about ~1.5 kms. Driving on a rainy day to Trek start point will be difficult. Forest rangers checks for plastics & hazardous objects. Top of the hill where the temple is located is 'Divine' Drinking water, Tea, Prashadham (food) will be given for devotees as per temple timings There's a view point near to Perumal temple - It's Good! Due to overcast conditions, we didn't continue to Shivan temple People of all ages & gender came - No restriction. But come only if you're physically fit as there's no help in-between. Distance of Trek = 3kms one-way. ~1km plains, ~2kms steep slope. Duration to Trek: 2.5 ~ 3 hrs uphill, 2 ~2.5 hrs downhill

We started from Palamalai and ended in Thadagam. Trekking path is harder and steep. But its a very good place for nature lovers and trekkers. When we trek we could able to feel the nature creations like bird humming and lots of Kurinji Trees. We could able to see the footprints of elephants as well. Try to keep the forest as forest.

Everybody should visit this Temple at least once . Carry a water bottle and some snacks with you while trekking. trekking is difficult. If you walk at normal speed it will take two and half hours to reach this Ranga Nagar temple. During the Tamil month Purattasi Saturdays more people visit this Temple.
