It is a serene place atop a hill, situated about 3 km from Ooty Railway station. The temple highlights the 40ft tall statue of Lord Murugan. There are also idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Kali. The temple has a calming presence and surroundings are clean

"Serene Devotion and Spectacular Views: Murugan Temple in Ooty" During my recent visit to Ooty, I had the privilege of experiencing the tranquility and spirituality that the Murugan Temple offers. This place is undeniably a must-visit for anyone exploring Ooty, offering a unique blend of serenity, devotion, and breathtaking views. The centerpiece of the temple is a magnificent Murugan statue that stands tall at the top. The sight of this statue against the backdrop of the lush Ooty landscape is truly awe-inspiring. The intricacy and artistry of the statue reflect the devotion and craftsmanship that have gone into creating this place of worship. What truly captivated me, aside from the religious significance, was the peacefulness of the temple grounds. The serene ambiance seemed to envelop the entire area, making it an ideal spot for meditation, reflection, or simply finding solace amidst the chaos of daily life. The quietude of the surroundings allowed for a deep connection with the spiritual essence of the temple. To reach the temple, one needs to ascend approximately 70 steps. While this might seem like a daunting climb, the effort is truly worth it. As you ascend the steps, you'll find yourself leaving behind the bustling world below and entering a realm of peace and devotion. The journey to the temple is a metaphorical pilgrimage that prepares you for the spiritual experience that awaits at the top. The panoramic views from the temple grounds are a reward in themselves. As you stand in front of the deity, you're also treated to a mesmerizing vista of the Ooty landscape. The sight of the town and its surrounding hills is a reminder of the beauty of nature and the sanctity of the temple's location. In conclusion, the Murugan Temple in Ooty is an experience that transcends the boundaries of religion and offers a profound sense of calmness and connection. The grandeur of the Murugan statue, the peaceful atmosphere, and the stunning views make it an unforgettable visit. The climb to the temple is not just a physical journey, but a spiritual one that leads to a place of introspection and devotion. If you find yourself in Ooty, don't miss the chance to visit this remarkable temple – it's an experience that will leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul.

One of the best located temples in Ooty and a must visit one for all travellers and tourists as this place is located in a small hill and walk to it will be breathtaking. A clean and quiet place and the Murugan statue resembles the one in Malaysia. An evening walk with family and friends to this place will be worth it.

There are around 70 to 80 steps to the temple. There is one more way where we can take our vehicles near the temple. There is Sri baladhayudhpani statue. The statue is similar to Malaysia Murugan. Best for family visit and during the festival times.

The highlight here is the tall statue of Lord Murugan which is similar to the iconic Lord Murugan statue of Batu Caves in Malaysia. Fairly good parking space and a peaceful atmosphere. Even though there are many steps to climb, we can go to the top directly by the car to see the tall statue of Lord Murugan directly without climbing those steps. Special thanks to our cab driver who told this to us.

The temple closes by 5pm. The murugan temple resembles the Malaysian murugan statue in batu caves. This temple is located in the city near rose garden. Can go by car or bike, there are parking spaces on the top side of the temple, or else the temple can be accessed by climbing stairs. Tea estates are there on the way towards the temple. Even the view from the temple is nice, could visit in the evening and witness the sunset.

    1) Spectacular Setting: The Elk Murugan Temple is set amidst lush greenery, offering a picturesque and serene environment that complements its spiritual significance. 2) Impressive Lord Murugan Statue: The temple boasts a remarkable 40-foot-tall statue of Lord Murugan, resembling the iconic Batu Caves statue in Malaysia, which serves as a major attraction and spiritual focal point. 3) Ample Parking: Visitors appreciate the availability of abundant parking space near the temple, making it convenient for those arriving by car. 4) Peaceful Atmosphere: The temple tends to be less crowded, allowing for a peaceful and meditative experience, ideal for those seeking solitude and reflection. 5) Helpful Staff: The temple staff are known for their friendly and accommodating nature, enhancing the overall visitor experience. 6) Good Vibes for Meditation: The temple's ambiance, surrounded by nature and the sweet sound of birds, creates an ideal setting for meditation and inner peace. Points to Consider 1) Challenging Access Road: The road leading to the temple is steep and winding, which can be a challenge to navigate, especially for larger vehicles. 2) Maintenance Needs: While the Lord Murugan statue is well-maintained, the temple could benefit from additional maintenance efforts, including the overall upkeep of the premises. 3) Limited Staff Presence: There is limited staff presence for maintenance and security, which could potentially affect the temple's overall maintenance and visitor safety. Visiting the Elk Murugan Temple offers a unique blend of natural beauty and spiritual serenity. While the temple's tranquil atmosphere, meditation-friendly vibes, and awe-inspiring Lord Murugan statue are definite highlights, the steep and winding mountain roads, as well as maintenance concerns, should be taken into consideration. Despite these challenges, it remains a significant spiritual site and a must-visit destination in Ooty.

Very quiet and peaceful, well maintained and clean temple. The pujari ji will tell you all about Lord Kartikeya and will explain in detail about the small temples in the compound and the large idol. The views from the top are amazing as well. This is however situated on a height so it is advisable to go by a car or a taxi, although auto can reach there with some effort as well. Very highly recommended.

Great Temple…Amazing view and blessing place of great Murgan Swamy Karthike.. MUST VISIT Place is around 20 to 30 mints away from Ooty main city and way to Elk Hill and Rose garden Ooty.. Temple is situated in between of great atmosphere and surrounding with lovely nature… Temple is of Karthike Swamy, popularly known as Murugan Swamy in Tamilnadu.. a huge statue of Murugun Swamy at right side of main temple. When we visited this place one marriage was going on and got to know there is also small place for yaga and functions to carried out..some rooms are also available with a small hall attached but now sure about renting and all.. Place was very cold when we visited, it was around 9 o clock in morning and all temple steps where so cold.. but after seeing Murugan Swamy you will be get that blessing of god and its seems to be all in happy.. Temple will be opened from morning 8 to 6 PM.. There is no local vehicle service available here, you need to get your vehicle or hire a vehicle.. There is no entry fees or parking fees..you need to park outside temple.. Water facility is available. Not seen toilet here but functional hall might have washrooms. Temple is really devine place and must visit if you are in Ooty..

Must must visit even if you aren't considering a temple on your trip to Ooty. This temple is surrounded by lush green tall trees and best time to visit would be before 12 in noon as that's when you get bright sunlight without heat. There are a couple of stairs to reach the main temple premises - so might not be suitable for elderly. The temple has many smaller bigger temples of different deities.

Temple situated at a calm, pleasant place. Road to the temple is narrow, but it's a must visit place in your Ooty itenary as it gives us the Indian version of Bali's Murugan temple. Enough parking is available. Behind the temple you can see a huge hill giving a scenic beauty. You can either climb the stairs or direct road is available to reach the temple.

A must visit temple in Ooty. Lots of steps to climb to the main temple, but if you have elders visiting with you, just keep going atop the hill after crossing the main temple gate. You can reach directly to the top of temple without needing to climb any steps. A very calm and quiet place, we went early morning around 9. It was drizzling a little bit and the surroundings of temple were just perfect start of the day. Greenery all around. Darshan were also quite good and very good vibes here.

Very nice, calm, serenely located temple which is away from all chaos of Ooty city area. Must visit temple during your trip to Ooty, don't miss it. Temple's huge murugan statue is the highlight which resembles Batu cave murugan statue of Malaysia. You have a cave temple just on the same premises which is lovely too. You can even sit, meditate or enjoy nature/ooty view from the temple. It's a place you must not skip during your next visit. It was not crowded at all, well maintained and clean too. The large Lord Murugan idol is a treat to your eyes, will keep lingering in your mind even after you leave the place.

It's a beautiful temple with a gorgeous view and a lot of stairs but unfortunately there is no proper maintenance and the route is also so uphill and seemed dangerously steep.

This temple is a must visit. We visited the temple around 8am. The main temple gate won’t be opened, but you can see the statue of Lord Murugan, which is glorious in the early morning fog. The view from there is also very beautiful.

Nice temple. Well maintained. Situated on top of the hill it's a long drive up. After you climbs the stairs you'll reach the actual temple and the peacefulness and surrounding area is good. The view from the higher end of the temple overlooking was also amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Pro's 1. This temple itself an very scenery. 2. Lord Muruga statue is awesome and its legendary look is impressive. 3. Parking space is infinite ♾️. 4. Its not crowded So really enjoyed. Con's 1. The road for this temple is not good. 2. This temple needs maintenance apart from the murugan statue, 3. Just saw only one priest there from the temple side not even another person for the maintenance or security.

This place is nearer to rise garden. We went by walk. It's a steep route with pine trees on both sides of the road. We went by walk through a short cut suggested by a localite. The path was so scenic and since it was evening we were able to see small lights at distance which looked absolutely beautiful. By road there are autorickshaws available. But you would miss on a scenic pine tree surrounded view if you go by auto. I have added the entrance of shortcut (by walk only) and the route . You can also ask any localite for short route.
