Though it was beautiful to look at , will not call it a waterfall. It was kinda river water falling from a bit of height. You'll have to walk for about 500m after parking to reach this fall. Even will have to go down stairs to have a perfect view. One cannot go near water as the whole area is barricaded.

It's a nice place. We should walk some distance from main road to get there. The surroundings is very calm and refreshing. The lake view is very eye refreshing. The view from there is nice. The waterfall also nice. Toilet facility is available. Drinking water available. Entry ticket is needed to enter. Electric car is also there and differently abled people have high priority. Anyway one should visit the place atleast one time. I suggest this place if you haven't been there.

The falls is really a mesmerizing sight. Surrounded by the lush green trees, the water pounds across the shallow rocks. The hike trail towards the falls is a nice walk and the sight at the end is so satisfying. The cool breeze on your face is soo relaxing after the long walk. The sunlight falling on the water makes it glitter. The place is so very well maintained and there is an entrance fee. The view from the top requires special mention where you find the stream running in between the Greenery. Definitely a perfect sport for exclusive photos. However I felt the area has really limited parking and the bathrooms are so shabby.

First of all visit place by checking the season and water flow level. Only in the high flow season you can have water falls feel, when it’s low flow it’s just like a lake. No waterfalls. From the entry point you need to walk 300mtrs towards lake/waterfall area. Also there is an option of battery car, they carry you till the steps area from there you have to go by foot. In between you can see green slopes where you can creative with your pictures. Lake area is good to see and it’s very calm and soothing. You can spot waterfall only in couple of places that too with little streams. We got a bit disappointed to see only streams and no water fall. Entry ticket is 30rs. There are so many food shops on the way. Restrooms are available but poorly maintained.

Fantastic place. Visited in the evening hours and the view while getting down the stairs were breath taking. Just check the attached photos. Need to walk around 400 meters from the main road and collect the entry ticket, then walk down the stairs around 50 steps with a large landing. Battery cars are available for a nominal charge of Rs.20 to cover the 400 meters distance and from there we still need to walk through the steps. There is a little park for the kids under 10 years to play.

The sight of water cascading down the rocks is simply mesmerizing. What makes it even more special is that it feels untouched by human hands, maintaining its natural beauty. The peaceful ambiance and the lack of crowds make it a truly enchanting experience. You can easily explore the falls through well-maintained pathways, immersing yourself in the magic of nature.

There wasn't much water to call it 'Water Falls'. But it was a clean, green, peaceful place. There's a parking spot opposite to the road leading to this place. Park ur vehicles there n walk for about 10 minutes. Buy tickets (30₹/head) at the counter n enjoy the water streams.

It's a beautiful place on top of the hills. Maybe in the rainy season the falls will be more gracious to watch as the water flow will be more and view would be much better. Still it was a better view when visited. On the hill station this waterfall location will make your day. You have to walk 300m from the main road to reach this place. No car or bike allowed. There is a battery vehicle picking and dropping, you can wait for that or else you can walk to get a good trekking experience since once u reach the location, you have to walk another 300 meters to see the waterfalls and the beautiful location. It's better to go by battery vehicle if there are elderly people are there. Overall it's a fantastic location to visit in Ooty hill station.

It's a good view point if the flow of the water is good. We've been there in journey, and not found much flow. After 4pm or 5pm temperature goes down suddenly, be watchful and carry woollen material if kids or old age people are with you. Also, it's more than 1km walk to reach the point. You can rest there and enjoy the nature. When you return from the viewpoint you must try noodles at stalls out there.

Entrance 30 per adult, 10 for child. Cars needs to be parked on roadside. Need to walk 1km to reach this spot. In entrance there are food shops, hotels. Bathing not allowed. Crowded during weekends. Perfect spot to spend time with family here. shooting spot, pine forest on the way, u can cover all in a day. 2-3hrs can be spend here. No play area for kids.

An absolute treat for the eyes and soul. It's a wide waterfall where you can see water from a lake cascading down, with the mist flying into your face. Here are some things you need to know: 1. The waterfall is 500m away from the parking area 2. For 300m, there is an electric vehicle facility (₹20 per head) 3. The last 200m are steps. They are well protected and safe 4. Entry ticket is ₹30 per head.

Entrance fee 30/- per person, worth for such a beautiful place. Street parking is available for free. Need to walk 350meter from entrance to reach the waterfall. Washroom is availble for free. You can take electrical veh iCal ride to entrance for 20 rs per person Don’t take any eatable while walking as monkeys might attack. I loved the waterfall! It was so pretty and peaceful. It felt like stepping into a nature paradise. The soothing sound of water and the lush surroundings created a magical atmosphere. The well-maintained pathways made exploring easy, and the view from different angles was breathtaking. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Pykara Waterfall is a breathtaking natural beauty located in Tamil Nadu, India's Nilgiri Hills. It is a famous tourist attraction noted for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil environs. The waterfall rushes down from a height of around 55 meters, creating a captivating image and a relaxing sound that enhances the overall experience. The magnificent flora that surrounds Pykara Waterfall is one of its charms. The area has densely forested, rolling hills, and pristine lakes, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts and photographers. The waterfall is also encircled by a well-kept garden where tourists may relax and take in the scenery.

The dam was closed so waterfall view was not as expected. You should definitely go even when the water level is low because the view is still pleasant. Before going for the fall, we get view of the river flowing between the green hills along with forest filled with lush green pine forest. It was picturesque. Do take the electric buggy, costing 20 bucks per head, to reach the main spot because it's worth it.

It’s probably one place in Ooty to see waterfalls. However visit in monsoon as in other seasons you won’t get water flow. Other than that you will get good view. It’s also having a little play area for small kids. If you don’t prefer to walk opt for battery car as you might need to walk for 500 meters. Ticket prices are reasonable.

If you are coming from Bangalore then it is better to cover this place along with the dam and boat house before reaching ooty. The view is much better in the rainy season but you will enjoy in other seasons as well. It will cost you 30/40 rs per person. There are many steps so will be difficult for elderly. Otherwise the place is well maintained by the govt and proper safety measures are taken care properly for kids. You will enjoy visiting the place with family

One of the famous tourist spots of Ooty. It's beautiful no doubt about it. The view while going down to the fall is especially beautiful. Giving four stars because we are not allowed to go near the water 😞. In the month of May we were not expecting a lot of flow but were pleasantly surprised to see the flow. Getting parking outside of the gate is a pain. Avoid going over weekends. Please keep the place when you visit 🙏 and follow me on Instagram @ritusangle for more travel content 👈🙏😊

Very peaceful and beautiful place to go! The sound of running water is so amazing. The approach road is through a jungle and had an amazing experience to it. Although as the road is narrow it might be good if you drive a little slow and be careful and it’s difficult to see the oncoming traffic in the midst of nature. Ultimately it was a very good experience. A must visit place if you are in Ooty.

Pykara waterfalls is a very popular destination. You have to walk and walk to reach the falls. There is one golf cart to carry people from marketplace to the gate of the falls. But as there were too many people and just one cart we could not avail the service even after waiting in the queue for a long time. The falls is nice though nothing great. As we see it before it falls off.

Nice place to visit. It was not crowded, assume it wasn't peak season. You can relax in the greenery and take some snaps. There is water flowing around rocks and it is hardly a waterfall. However itvwas a peaceful place to sit and hear the sound of water. Good place to take some pics and selfies. Surprise - Loos were super clean

Originating in the Mukurthi peak, Pykara River and the waterfalls the river produces is one of the most beautiful and majestic sights that you will get to see in Ooty. Located 20 kms away from Ooty in the Ooty-Mysore road, the Pykara lake has been developed into a thoroughly enjoyable picnic spot by the addition of a boat house and restaurant. The surroundings of the Pykara are famous for the Toda settlements and these are one of the very few placements where you find the Todas in their natural habitat. It is advisable to take some warm clothes with you even during summer as it can get pretty chilly during the evenings.

Really beautiful falls ! We visited during the month if May 2023. You can see the flow of the water in the photos. 30₹ for entrance per person! There are steps you need to climb down to reach the falls There are washrooms available to use! You either need to walk to the main entrance or they have a buggy service available for the elderly. There are a lot of stalls on the way to the entrance which serves food but they aren’t hygienic. And yes it was crowded!

It's very nice and beautiful, we can spend some time here by looking at the beauty of nature & clicking a few pictures.. To reach these waterfalls from the entrance we need to walk 1 km then will reach the ticket counter and after buying tickets we need to climb down many steps. Definitely will enjoy looking at water falls it's looks step by step. we visited this place after going to pykara Lake boating, That's awesome. So we can't compare with that. That's a must visit place.

A stunning location and the view gets better as you walk down the stairs. This is not a very high waterfalls and is more of a lake which is surrounded by a lot of forest land. The lake and the surrounding trees look absolutely beautiful especially when it's more of a rainy weather. The entrance fees is 30rs per person. There are restrooms as well. There's a little park for kids to play around. You cannot park close to the entry gate. There's a parking facility on the main road and then you need to walk about 800m towards the waterfalls. There are a lot of eateries on the walkway. You can buy chocolates, have mirchi bajjis, coffee etc

Pykara waterfall is a beautiful tourist destination. It is located twenty kilometres away from Ooty. It is a must see waterfall. The river Pykara originates from Mukurthi peak and it creates two waterfalls. This place has been devloped well by tourism authorities and is a good picnic spot. During summer and monsoon the waterfall and the landscape looks very different. During summer as the stream gets smaller, the red Rocky terrain is visible and is very beautiful. It is not a very high waterfall. The first waterfall falls from a height of fifty five meters and the second one from a height of sixty one metres. There is a hydroelectric dam in the river that produces electricity. The cascading waterfall looks majestic in full might. This place is a must see in ooty. If your visiting in summer make sure you get a lot of sun screen or umbrellas and drink a lot of water. Pykara boating is also famous and a must try. You have different types of boats available and cruising through the river in covered boats is an excellent option. You will also get to see some wildlife, if you are lucky. The entry fees is nominal and they have sufficient parking. You also have snacks option nearby. I would suggest to visit this waterfall during monsoon or winter and enjoy the Ooty climate. Please do not feed the monkeys, you will find a lot of them everywhere.

They are about 30 minutes drive from Ooty. Off the highway to Mysore. They are about 1 km from the highway. You can walk it easily. Even battery operated cars are available from highway to the falls. 10 seaters. Rs 20 each passenger one way. On return we took this conveyance. The falls surroundings are very clean. This is because the shops are on the highway side and not at the falls. You get a very good view of the falls. Surrounded by forests. As you go down the steps ( not steep ) you get to see the grandeur of the falls. Ample photo points. Awesome place to visit in Ooty . Evening time is ideal for visiting….. The falls itself is indeed beautiful and so is the walk to the falls. Unfortunately we went in the peak season when the place was extremely crowded. The presence of huge crowd spoiled the peaceful place. If I had a chance I would have chosen a non peak season to visit this beautiful place. The place was indeed beautiful but you have to walk for quite sometime to reach this place. There is also a small boogey van transferring people but the queue was huge for this. There are many eateries at the entrance but all were full by the time we arrived so we just had ice creams to beat the heat. In the entire stretch of the Pykara sightseeing section this was the only place where we found prooer eateries where people can have some lunch (we skipped Pykara Lake though and cannot comment on the shops there).

During our vacation in Ooty we had visited this popular tourist attraction in Pykara. From the car parking we had to walk half a km to reach the tickets counter- instead of walking one can take ride on electric cart. Tickets are priced at 10 rupees per person. From the tickets counter we climbed down a long flight of stairs to reach the spot. White milky water was gushing down through reddish brown rocks. On the way to the falls we saw a big forest lake where buffaloes were bathing. Climb up can be tough for seniors. Also beware of monkeys at this point.

Nice place to visit near Ooty. You will have to walk approximately 700 to 800 meters from road side to reach the place. This falls is a nice view point. Maintained by government and you are not allowed to enter into the water. View when you walk till the last point of water fall are amazing. Very nice soothing and quite place. Pykara Falls are set amidst the backdrop of a lush green forest and are an absolute delight to witness. Pykara is the name of a village which lies at a distance of around 19 kms from Ooty, in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is also the name of a river which runs through the Pykara village, which is sacred to the natives of this land. The Pykara river flows downstream from the mountains, over a series of waterfalls, and these are known as the Pykara falls. These falls drop into two separate sections of 55 metres and 61 metres and the sheer beauty and magnificence of the spectacle makes for an exotic weekend getaway. A perfect amalgam of clouds, water, scenic beauty and mountains, Pykara Falls are among the majestic and mesmerising sights, you will ever get to witness.

There's a lot of restaurants at the entrance.. A few metres in you'll find battery cars ready to take you to the waterfall or you can simply walk while enjoying the hills. The waterfall itself is beautiful during the rains(July), that's when I went there. Enjoy a hot cup of tea and the just take in the view of the lake and beside it, Pykara Falls. You can't take bath here. Its just a view point. To reach this falls you have to walk half a kilometer in the steps. The way is full of scenery. Unfortunately there is no water on my visit. Nice to spend time here. The place is good and well maintained by the respective govt dept. Battery car was there but when I went it was not operational. If they had more battery cars it would be really good especially for senior citizens.

Well maintained place, be it the cleanliness and security. The sound of the water fall is calming and relaxing! They charge Rs.10 as entry fee. You cannot go near the water falls and only can glimpse through barricades. Also there are many stalls outside for snacks and even meals. Better to eat Maggi and eggs here. Battery operated cars are also there to help people avoid walking a certain distance to the falls. Overall the place was a good place to visit!

If you're going to see a waterfall then it's a disaster. It's like a small stream if water which you can even see in your city. But views are good specially when you start stepping down from ticketing counter you can see tall trees and flowing water in the foreground which is what should be mentioned rather than waterfall. I've attached a picture of the view, waterfall was a waste of both time and effort.

Nice, but water falls are not in every season

August is definitely not a good time to visit this place. The water is carrying mud along the mountains making the waterfall all muddy.

Natural water falls, make mind peace and calm, better to go this place between August to December, old age persons should avoid this place due to long stairs

It's joke and thuggery in the name of water falls. 10 INR enterance fees Caddie ride is available but there is no board or guide to assist anyone about it. It's available at 20 INR to and for from enterance. It's not waterfall ,it's just one time watch scenery view. If you are going with elders or someone with knees/walking problem, you would like to avoid it as to and for comes with around 100 stairs which definitely not worth a time, try and pain in knees.
