Fort Kochi beach is a beach along the Arabian Sea situated in Fort Kochi in the city of Kochi in South India, Kerala state. It’s as all promenade along the coast and and there are benches where one can sit and see the ships ply by and see the sunset. There is no beach kind of scene as the shore is more rocky and the water is not clean at all. But the walkway is really good and clean. Though we did see locals bathing in the sea. The Famous Chinese fishing nets are a good attraction here. During weekends the area will be really crowded and its really difficult to get a car parking slot. There is jangar boat service available near by the beach and you can carry your vehicles as well in that

Referring to the " beach " it's not a type of beach were we can play and have fun in water. * The place got some different vibe. Can walk through the sea side for kilometres. * The Chinese net is a attraction here. * We can see huge ships from here. * Local toy items, drinks, and snacks are also available here. * Huge trees here provide shades. * Many foreigners also come here. ** Crowded during weekends. ** We can Plastic and other wastes everywhere, authorities must do something about it. ** Also some days too much of algae in the water.

This is not the typical beach where you imagine walk/sit on sand. There is a lot of algae. Government should consider to remove those, maintain it clean & build a nice beach park so that tourists can enjoy the true beach experience

The place is very good, it is roughly around 10km. Seaside walking is very nice. People have done some wonderful paintings on the walls which add more beauty to the place. You can see some tug boats struggling to pull and push huge ships.

A very calm beach with a side walkway for a perfect evening walk... Bordered by stone wall its a good place to enjoy... Many shops and street vendors are there for properties and food.. Many benches are there for sitting which is a perfect place for watching sea and sun.. Weekends are mostly crowded. Best to visit during evening. Even if you visit in noon or morning you can stand in shades of three which are very close to beach..

This is a nice place and it feels good during the evening. The breeze from the Arabian Sea gives a vibe. You can sit and relax and watch the big ships and trollers passing by. It feels more good if you walk and explore the area. Weekends are more crowded than usual. Many small big shops are available. You can enjoy the seafood and explore the local food joints. Chinese Fishing Net can also be seen here. This beach is one of the tourist attractions and a must visit.

Fort Kochi Beach, or Kochi Beach is a pristine beach located on the coast of the Arabian Sea in Kerala. Also called as Mahatma Gandhi Beach, it is one of the finestΒ beaches in Kerala. Often known as the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea', Fort Kochi Beach is a serene beach that offers a scenic view and natural beauty to its visitors. With its pristine water and tranquil ambiance, it is extremely admired by tourists and local people as well. The main attraction of this beach is the historic fort, which is the perfect example of European architecture. The presence of the Chinese fishing nets is probably the most easily identifiable one. The trees and the greenery on the walkway to the beach add to the serene atmosphere there. The beach also offers a breathtaking view of the sunset. Regarded as one of the prominentΒ tourist places in Kochi, the Fort Kochi Beach is the venue for Kochi Carnival held on New Year eve which is a colorful festival not to be missed. Foodies can find several restaurants and eating joints that offer delicious cuisines. However, a section of the beach is not accessible to the people since it is under the Indian Navy.

It's not a beach that you can step in. The water is muddy and contaminated. But may have a nice experience of the view. Can see the ships entering the port. And there's a lot of places to sit and enjoy the view. There's a lot of parking space.

Kochi Fort Beach, nestled within the historic Fort Kochi area in Kerala, is a charming coastal stretch that seamlessly blends natural beauty with historical significance. The beach offers a serene escape, characterized by golden sands and the rhythmic lapping of the Arabian Sea. Visitors can take leisurely strolls along the picturesque promenade, bordered by ancient Chinese fishing nets and colonial-era buildings, creating a unique juxtaposition of tradition and modernity. The beach is dotted with vibrant shacks and stalls, offering local delicacies and handmade crafts. Sunset at Kochi Fort Beach is particularly enchanting, casting a warm glow over the horizon and the iconic Fort Kochi skyline. With its relaxed atmosphere and cultural richness, this beach becomes not just a scenic retreat but also a gateway to the intriguing history and diverse culture of Kochi.

Fort Kochi Beach is a serene gem that blends history, culture, and natural beauty. The picturesque Chinese fishing nets, calming waves, and the stunning sunset make it a captivating spot. The beach's tranquil ambiance and the adjacent promenade, dotted with quaint cafes and art galleries, add to its charm. However, swimming might not be ideal due to strong currents. Yet, its allure lies in its unique blend of colonial heritage and coastal allure, making it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat by the sea.

I had a morning walk in fort kochi. I found many huge ships of Indian Navy to small boats of local fishermen. You can also find thattukada, gift shops &fresh caught fishes from Chinese net alongside the walkway. The walkway way is well maintained and clean.

A good beach in fort kochi, it could be way much better, lot of visitors there even during this panademic situation. Beach could be cleaned well. Should think about deploying some security enforcers. The shops selling foods and ice cream's should be more clean. Food is expensive with all seller's there.. Beach is very beautiful and good to visit with family.

Located close to Mattancherry, Fort Kochi is a place where time stops still. The shops, locals and streets all have their own pace, a place where you can truly unwind. Fort Kochi has a small fishing village known as Old or West Kochi. There is an Indo-Portuguese Museum as well in this location. There are many spots to explore around the area like Fort Immanuel, which was built in 1503, as a sign of the strategic alliance between the Maharaja of Cochin and the Portuguese Monarch; Thakur House, a popular sight symbolic of colonial-era architecture and the St. Francis Church (built in 1503), where Vasco da Gama was originally buried, and is the oldest European church in India. Entry fee: Adults – Rs. 20 | Children between 5-12 years – Rs. 7 Timings: 9 AM – 12:30 PM, 2 PM – 4:30 PM, closed on Mondays

The entrance of the beach area might make you think otherwise, but have patience and keep walking till you find the sweet spot. The sunset is amazing. This place gets a bit crowded, but you can still manage to find a place to watch the sunset peacefully. About the entry point, yes it is full of garbage and smells awful and is a big turn off for the people coming from far off places. I, myself, was about to return after seeing the mess. Here are the photos of the actually pretty place.

Best place in kochi to spend time with friends and family , it's more safe than other placess , because the police station is only 200meter away from Fortkochi beach; the beach is not clean , the walk way is clean , there are many options to shoping and food , if you plan to visit fort Kochi beach , the perfect time is 6pm , the sun look's nice , pure oragan colour , it's feel more.

It is a place in Kochi to spend time with your family and friends. This beach is not like other beaches on that we can play and swim but it's a beach with sceneries to view and to feel a wonderful nature. You can seat and relax and enjoy snacks. Visit the nearby places and walk around. I would recommend to visit the beach while your kochi trip.

This location is an incredible spot to bask in the beauty of a breathtaking sunset while being mesmerized by the rhythmic crashing of waves. It offers a truly enchanting experience for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. However, it's important to note that this place tends to attract a large number of visitors, often resulting in significant crowds. While the popularity of the spot is a testament to its allure, it can also lead to a bustling atmosphere that may not be suitable for those seeking solitude. On the bright side, the proximity of numerous cafΓ©s in the vicinity provides an excellent opportunity to unwind and relax after taking in the captivating views. These cafes offer a range of options to cater to various tastes and preferences, allowing you to enjoy a chilled ambiance and perhaps indulge in a refreshing beverage or delectable snacks. Overall, if you are a fan of stunning sunsets and enjoy being surrounded by a vibrant atmosphere, this place is a must-visit. Just be prepared for the possibility of encountering large crowds and take advantage of the nearby cafΓ©s to enhance your overall experience.

We can experience the good sunset here or maybe some good local cuisine. What else, about 10 years back I visited this place and infrastructure development is ZERO. This place has full potential to attract foreigners. But I don't know why our government is not exploiting the opportunity. Even there is no proper place to sit, full of Street dogs. One thing changed, the boat ride from Marine drive boat Jetty to Fort kochi jetty. Rest of everything remains the same.

Fort Kochi Beach, with its blend of history and natural beauty, is a captivating destination. The iconic Chinese fishing nets silhouette against the sunset, creating a postcard-worthy scene. The beach's relaxed atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists, making it a cultural melting pot. Stroll along the shore to discover art installations and vibrant markets. However, swimming isn't recommended due to strong currents. The beach showcases Fort Kochi's rich heritage, evident in nearby landmarks like St. Francis Church. While it may get crowded, especially during festivals, Fort Kochi Beach remains a charming spot, reflecting the spirit of this historic port town.

There are few shops nearby that sell ice cream and other snacks. It is not a white sand beach and the water is not that clear. Across the beach on one side you can see the Fort Kochi harbour and few ships. The beach doesn't have any washrooms and make sure you make your own arrangements.

The first part of the name Fort Kochi comes from this fort, which the Dutch later destroyed. The Portuguese built their settlement behind the fort, including a wooden church, which was rebuilt in 1516 as a permanent structure, today known as the St Francis Church.

Although it is not a recommended one for bathing, it is a amazing spot to spend some time at, surrounded by the heritage, and tourist atmosphere of Fort Kochi. This beach has a brilliant promenade till Vasco da Gama Square, which can be used for walking, exercising, admiring sunsets, photo shoots, dates, and flea Market shopping. Bathing would be more feasible if the local body could put some effort in maintaining the beach, and clearing the algal growth on the shore.

It's an okayish beach which desparately requires some cleaning and good housekeeping. Allows breathtaking views of the Arabian sea and the island of vypin, which can be enhanced if people didn't keep it that dirty. Also, there's utter disregard for the artefacts and monuments of the bygone era with a cursory mention of the ruins of fort, the guns and the first sledging ship which was brought to India by the colonists.

  • 4/5 Saiprabhu B. 2 years ago on Google
Good place to hangout in the evenings. There is a walkway from Vasco da gama square to the end of the beach and is dotted with small shops selling Snacks, ice creams and fancy items. Few Chinese fishing nets can also be seen in this stretch. You can also catch glimpses of ships moving in and out of Cochi Harbor. This is not a Sandy beach. So, dipping the feet in water or swimming is not possible. When it comes to cleanliness, there is a lot of scope to improve. The benches provided are also dirty. Having said that, the Sunset is beautiful here.

Try to visit early morning if you are free in order to enjoy sunrise and it gets quite busy as the time goes on. Lots of shops are available for snacks, tea and coffee. Good place to spend time with family, friends or solo. You can view fisherman catching fish and working of Chinese fishing nets.

Fort kochi beach.... Nice place to spend time..its not a type of beach where we can do the sun bath, sit on sand like... We can do the seaside walking.... Refreshments shops available... Beach is not maintained properly... Authorities should take proper actions to maintain the beach neat and clean

  • 5/5 Anu A. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best beach in ernakulam. Needs maintenance and cleaning but still its a good option to spend quality times with loved ones. Watching sunset is an important thing to do here. Vendors are available and there are many locations near beach and its a main location for many malayalam and other language movies. Usually it is crowded and we can park vehicles near the beach or on the roads.

A charming seaside area, Fort Kochi is known for its Dutch, Portuguese, and British colonial architecture, and elaborate bamboo fishing nets at Fort Kochi Beach. St. Francis Church was the original burial site of explorer Vasco da Gama. Upscale eateries and chic cafes serve Keralan specialties, and quaintΒ shops sell cotton clothing and handmade souvenirs. Heritage buildings house contemporary art galleries

One of my favourite spot to hangout. It's an awesome feel to vibe out watching the beach and heritage. We mostly come and sit here just to enjoy and relax watching the view. Lot of tourists visit this place, but the authority lacks some basic amenities. There's no public toilet. This place lacks cleanliness. No basic development is happening. I wish this place to be developed more.

One of the scenic place in kochi. You can see the ships passing nearby and also the port qnd the Indian Oil refinery. The streets and pathways are good but not clean enough. If the maintenance is done right, this could be one the beautiful place in Kerala. You can find a variety of cafe, hotels, fast food outlets and more in the pathway.

You can't walk or step into it. Less beach area. But you can walk through the footpath and small snack counters are there. Evening is the ideal time to visit the beach. Mostly crowded. Considered as one of the major tourist places in Kochi. Foodies can find many restaurants and food joints that offer varieties delicious food. Often referred to as the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea', Fort Kochi Beach is a serene beach that offers a scenic view and beauty to the visitors. The Fort Kochi beach is different from the other beaches of Kerala due to the presence of the Chinese fishing nets . It is on these beaches that the famous #Cochin Carvinal is conducted on New Year’s Eve. #The sea food, #the Vasco da Gama Square adjacent to the beach, #a light house and #a granite walkway are the other main attractions. The beach also gives you a breathtaking view of the sunset. Cargo ship mostly pass through the beach due to this most part of the sea is very deep, there are caution boards also fixed for awareness to the tourists who visit the beach πŸ–. The remains of the Fort can also be seen here.. .......

Fort kochi is one of the popular place. Whenever I think about the new year, my first choice is fortkochi. Because the new year celebration vibe in fort kochi is entirely different. I prefer to visit fort kochi in between christmas and new year, because many programs will be conducted in those days and the sunset view from the beach was really amazing. You will definitely get a mind blowing experience, one of the best option for spending time with family and friends. Please try to avoid throwing plastic and food waste in public places and try to keep the place clean.
