Kodaikanal’s star attraction is a picturesque star-shaped artificial lake, Kodaikanal Lake. The beauty of the iconic geographical landmark of the hill station is complemented by the surrounding Palani hills which is the main watershed for the lake. The outflow from this lake forms a beautiful waterfall called Silver Cascade. Indulging in activities like riding a rowboat, pedal boat, tandem bicycle or horse appears to be de rigueur for tourists. We rented a pedal boat with 4 seats for ₹250 for 30 minutes. An advance amount of ₹250 is refunded after the ride.

Wonderful place for boating, cycling, walking. The main thing here is the climate it's amazing that makes us not to go away from the place. After getting tickets we can go for boating. The place is amazing and we can able to see small ducks in the water and almost each and every corner there will be some eye pleasing view. The lake is bordered by the road and it makes a good view. The Kodaikanal Lake was created in 1863, by Sir Vere Hendry Levinge, the Collector of Madurai, who settled in Kodai after his retirement. A marshy lakeside was transformed by him into a spectacular lake by strengthening its banks and by bringing the first boat from Tuticorin. He also stocked this new lake with several species of local fish. He was the man of resource and creative ideas for this lake. By spending his own money he converted the marshy land with several streams of lake by constructing a strong bund and brought boats from Tuticorin. It is reported that the foreign resident's even used to swim in the lake.

Must visit place in Kodaikanal. The star-shaped lake in Kodaikanal is man-made and was created in 1863 by Sir Vere Henry Levinge. There is a walk way built around the entire perimeter of the lake (7kms) Evening is the the best time to visit the lake. The lake having boating facility. There are four different boat houses. Boating start time will be 9 am. Pedal boat and boat with a helper are available. Boats having 2-6 seats with a minimum duration of 30 minutes. One full round of the lake is about 5 km. The view while boating was awesome. After boating hire a bicycle and go around the lake in it. Cycles available for rent of 50 to 100 rupees for 30 minutes. Horse riding and gun shooting also available. Many shops and eateries available around the lake. The large number of shops here makes this place the largest shopping spot of Kodaikanal. Over flow of the lake will results the formation of Silver Cascade Waterfall. The water finally reached to Palani area. The climate is very cool here. Lake gets crowded during weekends. From the lake tourists ca go to Bryant park and Coaker's walk by walk it self. (For travel related videos please subscribe Youtube channel "chennai attractions channel" )

It is a good place to go with friends and family. There is a nice climate and ambiance around the lake. You should prefer morning or late evening to visit kodaikanal Lake and should try to walk around the lake rather than cycling. Because while walking you could talk and enjoy the moments with your loved ones. There are so many activities attached to the lake, like boating and balloon shooting. Moreover you could try various street foods while walking.

The best tourist spot in Kodaikanal i would say. Boating is available Street food is available A lot of shops for shopping Nice place to vibe Best place to spent time Evening might be the best time to visit You won't know the timepass by But the development is really less No street lights or any showy light around the lake. Only some parts of the lake is developed. What I mean by developed is only some parts of the lakes are occupied by shops and street light is present. On the other parts it's fully dark and no shops or anything. So you won't find it that amusing to take a whole round around the lake. Also no night life at all !!!!! All the shops start closing as soon as the time Hits 7:30pm. And by 8:30-9pm most of the shops will be closed.

A beautiful man made lake set in the middle of Kodaikanal is the biggest attraction in the town. You have several activities that you can try in and around the lake. 1. Boating 2. Shopping for clothes and souvenirs 3. Bryant Park 4. Coaker's walk 5. Cycling 6. Horse riding 7. Snacking in the various food stalls or simply stroll around the periphery of the lake. A cycle ride around the lake will take a good 30-45 minutes depending on your stamina. The new water fountain installed in the middle of the lake has added more grandeur to the set.

Iconic place in Kodaikanal. Beautiful lake and boating is also awesome. But the traffic here during holiday time is horrible and we will not get a parking space at all. The traffic rules and parking must be made more easier for the tourists.

It is very pleasant to walk around the lake special early morning. The total periphery is about 4.5 kilometers, so that can be covered in less than an hour. Cycle available here on rent. Plenty of vendors at various places where you can buy somethig to eat. Boating seems to be a popular activity in the lake.

Kodaikanal is a hill town in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s set in an area of granite cliffs, forested valleys, lakes, waterfalls and grassy hills. At 2,000 meters above sea level, the town centers around man-made, star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake, bordered by evergreen forest. Rowing boats can be hired, and hikers and cyclists follow the 5k Lake Road path around the shore

The lake is quiet a big. Cycling around the lake is a must do experience. Entire round will take some time to complete, so better you keep at least 1-1:30 hr time for this along with shopping and photography. Boating here also a great experience. Boating and cycling is recommendable here. You can spend at least a half of day to feel and enjoy the beauty of the nature.

One of the must visit places in Kodaikanal. This lake is very big almost 5kms if you take a round of it. 2seater, 4 seater boats are available for which you need to paddle. If you want you can take a big one where a concerned person will row it for you. Wearing a life jacket is mandatory as per rule. For half an hour they charge 250₹ and it doubles with time. You can stop your boat in the bank and can buy foods which are available on the roadside. Boating in the morning or afternoon don't forget your sunscreen. If you have time do boating slowly and enjoy nature. Click pictures and take videos. Boating complex have many entry gates from different sides. After boating you can go for cycling or horse riding even take a walk and visit Bryant Park. Many food stalls are also available. Plan a half day tour accordingly.
