It is the longest beach of Chennai . Its maintained very well by the Chennai corporation and it's usually very crowded .It's the most famous tourist attraction of Chennai ,there are numerous food stalls and shopping stalls around the beach it's the best place to visit to experience the sunrise. One of the best place to visit the atmosphere is very relaxing I really like this place..... More about Marina beach - Marina beach in Chennai along the bay of Bengal is India's longest and world's second longest beach . This predominantly is Sandy of nearly 12 km extends from beasant Nagar in the south to Fort St. George in the north. Chennai Marina beach was renovated by governor Mountstuart Elphinstone grant Duff in 1880's . All tourists travelling to Chennai never miss visiting this grand Chennai beach. Marina beach is easily accessible by buses access to and three wheelers. Marina beach is full of activity in the early morning hours and in the evenings walking along the beaches during sunrise and sunset is a pleasant experience for all. In the evening this beach become a fair ground with number of stalls selling artifacts, handcrafted showpieces, ethnic jewelry, and food items. Children play games and frolic around going into the sea should be done under expert guidance as the under current is strong. Flying kites and pony riding are popular activities on this Marina beach.

This place is like the landmark of Chennai. If you're coming to Chennai, the trip won't be complete without going to this profound place. However, the place is littered near the shore which needs to be cleaned and the tourists should not throw anything into the sea.

I had an incredible experience at Marina Beach! The moment I set foot on the golden sands and heard the soothing sound of the waves, I knew I was in for a memorable visit. The beach stretches as far as the eye can see, and the view of the Bay of Bengal is simply breathtaking. I strolled along the promenade, taking in the vibrant atmosphere and admiring the various food vendors, souvenir shops, and street performers. The local cuisine was a highlight, and I couldn't resist trying some delicious seafood and street snacks. The highlight of my visit was witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise over the horizon. It was a truly magical moment that I will cherish forever. The beach offers a perfect setting for relaxation and recreation, with people of all ages engaging in activities like beach volleyball, kite flying, and horseback riding. Marina Beach is not just a place of natural beauty but also a hub of local culture and traditions. I had the chance to interact with friendly locals and learn about the history of the place. The historical landmarks like the Victory War Memorial and the lighthouse added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Overall, Marina Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to unwind, soak up the sun, and immerse themselves in the rich culture of Chennai. It's a place where you can make memories that will last a lifetime.

The best place to visit, if you are in or visiting Chennai. This beach is so huge that it can host a lot of people, I mean really a LOT of people, so you can visit this anytime. If you are a foodie, I would recommend you to visit in the evening coz the foods stalls will be opened only by then (Bajji, Fish etc). If you into just beach and it's vibe , then I would recommend to visit in the early morning, to immerse yourself in the breath taking view of Sunrise, fishermen reaching the shores and to have a quite interaction with the waves. Morning people too get a decent food options in a stall opposite to "Vivekananda Illam" with variety of traditional foods. I highly recommend you try the food varieties there (Thank me later). Being the second largest beach in the world has its own disadvantages. It is really impossible for the government to maintain it clean, unless we people stop littering the place. I often see liquor bottles, ciggerate, food wastes, plastics etc. Other than the public littering, this beach is a heaven on earth.

Marina beach is very vast and a captivating paradise. It is very famous beach in South India because of its magnificent view. Beautiful sunrise in the morning and also to enjoy sunset in the evenings. It is really fun to take a stroll along the shore, feel the breeze and also get noticed with a lot of stalls surrounding it. Quite mesmerizing to see such developments and feel the graze.

A must-visit when you are in Chennai or at least on your first Chennai trip. It gets really crowded on weekends and holidays. The best time to be there would be around sunrise, and if you don't mind the crowds, the evenings are good too. There are lots of small shops and restaurants and decent enough washrooms. A great place to hangout with friends, family, or by yourself.

Great place..one of the biggest beaches. Its vast but it very hot and humid, you should go during the evening time. Afternoon is the worst time to go, either early morning or evenings will be the idle time. In some areas it stinks of fish, most of the area doesn't smell. Lot of shops also available to eat like snacks or cool drinks. Overall the place is where you can go with your family and spend time in the evening.

I have seen and experienced in spending a lot of my liesure times on the shore of Chennai marina Beach. Its a different feel that you can enjoy in the early morning or in the evening times. Neatly and tidy platforms which are recently reformed by the government for pavement walking on the early morning times. If yyou want to spent your time with your family and kids , you can visit in the evening time to the beach. You can find a lot to eat ,shopping, sight seeing and so on. children can enjoy their every moment to spend there. For lovers , they select the beach for their talks in the hide of boats. Now police given a fine security arrrangements to care the visitors of beach. You can find two newly renovated Swimming pools (marina swimming pool and Anna swimming pool) near the shore for children and adult. Dont forget to taste the mango pieces drenched with salt and chilli power, a mouth watering dish available there. You go, feel and enjoy the trip to Marnia beach. Marina Beach is one of the longest beach or sea shore in Asia, as per my knowledge. One of the good place in Chennai to spend your time. But the beach is not suitable for swimming or playing in water, since the water is polluted a lot. The right time to visit the beach is around 5.00 in evening. You can find lot of road side shops for evening snacks. Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, along the Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, a distance of 6.0 km, making it the longest natural urban beach in the country. Must visiting places in Chennai and a great spot for relaxing and chilling with family and friends. There are plenty of quick bites shops.

I have been here many times as a child. I am very happy to come with my children and wife. When I told my kids it was the biggest beach, they were ecstatic. When I come to the beach, I always ate the sundal and fish. To enjoy nature we must become children. Many memories come to the mind when the waves of the ocean pass over the feet.

One of the famous Beach in South India. It takes about 15 minutes to walk across the sandy beach to the beach . Older people may find it a bit difficult. However, it is a very beautiful beach. Most of them come to spend free time with their families. Next to this beach we can see memorials of MGR and Jayalalitha.Visitors to Chennai must visit this beach at least once .

This is a long Beach, no doubt. We went on a weekday so didn't experience much crowd. And there are plenty of rating option, practically every few feet and lots of vendors. But the most disappointing was the cleanliness aspect. This was probably one of the dirtiest beaches that I've encountered in India. I'll really implore the authorities looking after to devote more resources and seriousness in this regard.

One of the longest coastal line beach in india๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ Correct place to spend the evening time with family. Avoid going on weekends as too much crowd. Cleanliness is the big challenge here. Street n local foods are available ๐Ÿ˜‹ and if you don't concern much about hygienic, then u like all the varieties. Marina Beach is situated beside the Bay of Bengal. This beach is a famous landmark of Chennai city and Tamil Nadu as well. The beach is very scenic and windy. The natural atmosphere of this place is marvelous. There is wood made walkway to reach the beach from the road. Which is very helpful for people who do not like to walk on sand. Sea lovers come here and enjoy the beach. The security of this beach is very appreciable! The polices and guards patrol the beach to ensure people's security and warn them not to go to seawater during the low tide. However, people often do not follow the law and throw trash and shattered wine bottles on the sand of the beach. Which is very dangerous for people and harmful for the environment. Authority should take care of this matter.

Marina Beach is one of my favorite places to relax and unwind. The sound of waves crashing against the shore is very calming and the fresh air is invigorating. Beaches are also great for outdoor activities like beach volleyball. The only downside is that it can get pretty crowded on weekends and holidays.

Marina Beach offers a scenic coastline with golden sands, where people can enjoy leisurely walks, picnics, and various activities. The beach is known for its vibrant atmosphere, especially during the evenings and weekends when it gets crowded with locals and tourists. You can find several food stalls and vendors along the promenade, offering a variety of snacks, street food, and local delicacies. Horse and camel rides are also available for visitors to enjoy. Please note that beach safety and cleanliness can vary depending on the time of the year and the efforts put into maintenance. It is advisable to follow any posted safety guidelines, be cautious about swimming in the sea, and ensure you clean up after yourself to help maintain the beach's cleanliness.

Over all it is Good place to spend some quality time with kids and family but don't enter into the beach at shopping lane or close. If you go next to swimming pool, it is some what better and clean and you will get some good food courts as well and less people at beach. If you enter in shopping lane or closely, it's not clean and heavy crowd and no maintenance and not hygiene.

Chennai's Marina Beach is a charming bay of Bengal length of golden sand that provides a tranquil haven in the middle of the busy metropolis. Both residents and visitors will find a gorgeous environment along its vast 13-kilometer coastline. Families taking leisurely strolls on the beach, sellers offering a wide variety of foods, and the distant silhouettes of fishing boats contributing to the picturesque beauty make the beach a bustling hub of activity. The magnificent Triumph of Labor sculpture and the well-known lighthouse at one end of the beach add to the area's cultural diversity. The strong sea currents may prevent swimming, and the beach's cleanliness isn't always consistent. Notwithstanding these difficulties, Marina Beach continues to be a popular choice for those looking to combine leisure with Chennai's vibrant energy. Even while the atmosphere captures the spirit of the region, efforts to keep the area clean and improve security measures could improve the overall experience for visitors. Marina Beach is a representation of Chennai's stunning coastline, inviting tourists to experience its distinct fusion of old and new.

Any one visiting Chennai must go here. This beach is great if you want to ponder over life & the stark contrast of it with the never ending bay of bengal. Horse rides available. Many shops are available in the evening. Early morning shops won't be open but you'll get to witness several young men & women enthusiastically training in martial arts. Try the spring potato. A few carnival-like games are also available like balloon shooting.

Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because of the dangers, as the undercurrent is very turbulent. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country. The Marina beach was famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems. The Marina is a natural urban sandy beach along the Coramandel coast on the Bay of Bengal. It was a lifetime achievement type experience to me. Being here and enjoying the sea waves was 'a never forget' memory. A lifetime memory. That walking in the sand, the burning feet, running along the shore , swimming in the waves......oh!!! Memory for lifetime. Really awesome. Great experience. If you like to travel and explore new places, then you must visit this place for once. I must say that you do visit here for once.

One of the most popular picnic spot for the people in Chennai. The crowd is just unimaginable during holidays. If u want a quiet evening stroll along the shore then marina is a wrong place. Elliot's beach is better. The food stall especially the fish stalls are a must try. If u know to identify the fresh fish then u need to select some good stalls amongst many available in Marina. There is a food safety approved stall too. You can ask Google for more details. I wish the parking is properly managed there it's chaotic now. Keep your fingers crossed when u go to fetch your car or bike that it's safe there!! Corporation collects money for parking (without receipt) but they just take the money and do not assist or regulate the traffic movement or parking. This leads to people parking wherever they want. I wish they put use of the bountiful money collected for parking in to good public use!! Otherwise it's a must visit place with family and friends in namma Chennai.

Great sea beach in Tamilnadu especially in Chennai. During our halt to Chennai we visited the beach. Beach is okay but not well maintained. Lots of shops for various stationary items. They have lots of food stalls to choose from . Lots of handy snacks corner. Fish fry shops are also available. But lots of crowd . Coastal guards are also there for your safety

World second largest beach ๐Ÿ‘€โค๏ธ One of the best beaches in the world filled with shopkeepers and families playing and spending their time with their loved ones during the weekends it be in rush and I do advise that the foreigners visiting this place not to try out the samosas been sold and they wonโ€™t be that fresh or good and Iโ€™m a local resident over here ๐Ÿ‘ˆ And the place will be breezy during the nights and I would suggest people go get some fresh air by visiting this place and enjoy the rest

The waves from beach was awesome. We can play in the beach & horse raiding is available. & lot of games are available. Street food & sea food was good.

Marina Beach in Chennai is an outstanding place to visit. With its stunning views of the Bay of Bengal and a stretch of golden sand that extends for miles, it's no surprise that this beach is a favorite among tourists and locals alike. The beach is well-maintained and offers a plethora of activities for everyone, including swimming, sunbathing, horseback riding, and more. The food stalls near the beach offer a wide range of tasty snacks and drinks, making it a great place for a quick bite. Overall, Marina Beach is a must-visit attraction in Chennai, and its scenic beauty and recreational activities make it an ideal destination for a day out with family and friends.

Visited the beach - early morning as well as in the evening ๐Ÿคฉ This is one of the famous spots in Chennai. You get many hawkers, esp - Nariyalpani Wala just outside the beach, selling good quality coconuts ๐Ÿฅฅ We spent across 1.30-2hrs at the beach, clicking pictures, having quality time and simply enjoying the sky, the sand and the waters ๐ŸŒŠ

Very nice experience of this beach.....if you want to walk little to get to the shore then tell your driver to park at the opposite road of Swami Vivekananda house. And from there, you can find a wheelchair accessible way......from their, you can easily walk to the shore.

Marina Beachย is a naturalย urban beachย inย Chennai,ย Tamil Nadu, India, along theย Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from nearย Fort St. Georgeย in the north toย Foreshore Estateย in the south, a distance of 6.0ย km (3.7ย mi),ย making it the longest natural urban beach in the country. ย The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up theย Juhu Beachย inย Mumbai. The average width of the beach is 300ย m (980ย ft) ย and the width at the widest stretch is 437ย m (1,434ย ft). Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because of the dangers, as the undercurrent is very turbulent. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country and attracts about 30,000 visitors a day during weekdays and 50,000 visitors a day during the weekends and on holidays.ย During summer months, about 15,000 to 20,000 people visit the beach daily.

Very good place to spend some time ....can see the mesmerizing sea sight ...huge tides can be found here in late morning...you can take sea bath.... various fast food centre are there....you can ride on horse....it is well connected with various places of Chennai through bus and metro....if you are in Chennai airport and your flight got delayed then don't waste your time and go to airport metro took a ticket for government estate metro(50 rupees ticket, 30 minutes journey time) and from there it is around 1 km (walking distance). If you are in Chennai Central station and your train got delayed then go to the nearby central metro station and do the same as stated above....there are also plenty of buses available in every route of Chennai...

A lot of drastic changes have happened in past few yearsโ€™ courtesy to all the technological advancement but by the grace of God some things havenโ€™t changed and one of them is the urge to travel and explore. When it comes to beaches the urge has only increased! Going for a dive, or just lazily relaxing, soaking in the for Vitamin D, enjoying a swim or surfing, this is what comes to mind when we think of a beach and this is exactly whatย Marina Beachย (Chennai) offers

Very beautiful place. But when I visited it was contaminated with sewage water due to recent flood in Chennai.

It's a pleasant beach...but police don't allow to go deep in sea beach. So long beach here. Good environment also. I love it

The beach was a true paradise. The sun was shining and the water was crystal clear. One of the highlights of my visit was I able to see a large number of pigeons flying around the beach, able to see in early morning. The beach is perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day. Whether you're with friends, family or a significant other, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The sand is soft, the water is warm and the scenery is stunning. I would highly recommend this beach to anyone looking for a great day out.

One of the highly recommended place to watch sun rise. The morning vibes here are totally different, one should experience it.

Watching the sunrise here early in the morning while a gentle sea-breeze hits your face in the background of the sound of waves crashing on your feet ๐Ÿ˜! Without doubt the best part about Chennai! The beaches are better maintained now than before! Get up early in the morning and enjoy the view, itโ€™s way less crowded early in the morning! Get a tender-coconut to sip on while you are at it ๐Ÿซฐ

Amazing place. Definitely a must see place for anyone visiting Chennai. Still looks very pretty to see in the evening time. All kinds of eateries are available. You can spend even more happily if you come with your girlfriend & family. I also visited this place. But there is still a lot of work to be done here. V abhi should be developed as botany and swimming above water.

Hi I am here to give a short and detailed review about this beach โ›ฑ๏ธ. I attended at evening time and I give this 4 star because it is dirty. You can see a lot of shops like fish, fast food, fried items etc. But the popular thing is spring potato, a very famous snack for this location. You can visit the market here and you can get the cheapest price but you might bargain ๐Ÿ˜œ You Can also visit some memorials towards Anna Square road. Most importantly this is 2nd largest Urban beach in the World ๐Ÿ˜„

To get calm and peace to your mind, you should visit this place. Especially visit either morning at 6 - 10 or evening after 5. Sunrise and sunset views are awesome. You will see so many veg and non-veg shops there and you can have fresh sea food. I totally enjoyed it.

Landmark and famous beach in Chennai.Ideal in the evenings especially to take a walk from the lighthouse upto the memorial. Cops are all around and very helpful. Evenings there is a huge crowd. Entrance is free โค๏ธ I will visit again to this beach if I come to chennai. Recommend place

It's the second largest beach in the world. But it's different from Cox Bazar, the longest beach. There are a lot of stalls and amenities there now. Can enjoy a beautiful afternoon or evening here. The view from an aeroplane is also beautiful.

Very nice and pleasant. One thing is that the beach is not too clean. Plastic wraps, packets and bottles are lying here and there.

Stalls stalls stalls. Wondered whether it is a bazaar area or beach on my first visit. So many shops to buy your things and street food is awesome here. No compromises. Loved it.

One of the main attraction in Chennai. Crowded in the evenings. The beach is not so clean, many type of wastes are found on the shore. Surrounded by a garden and good footpath.

Natural beauty..very heart touching..people don't know swimming must stay away..beach is much deep after few yards and have heavy slope..this beach need more cleaning.

One of the biggest beaches and most happening places in Chennai. More crowds will be there often but still u can enjoy the beach to the fullest. Also we can find many games outlets and snacks points , fish stalls , corn stalls then and there. The best family spot to spend time in the Eveningsss..

The beach is huge. The currents are very strong here. Not suitable for bathing and swimming. Anyway it's not allowed here. Lots of shops are present on the beach. Lots of crowds there.

It was a great experience for us. We were a group of 3 friends. We came to Chennai just for the beach. The weather was so romantic when we reached the beach and there was no crowd. Maybe because of rains and lunch time... Anyways, you can catch a bus to the beach from railway station. Though we hated the food. We felt like vomiting. After enjoying in the beach you can take a bath in nearby swimming pool they charge โ‚น50. And keep your bags with yourself coz no one will look out for you. And a message for everyone, Don't go deep into water ๐ŸŒŠ Be safe and enjoy.

Longest Beach in Asia Marina Beach is one of the longest beach or sea shore in Asia, as per my knowledge. One of the good place in Chennai to spend your time. But the beach is not suitable for swimming or playing in water, since the water is polluted a lot. The right time to visit the beach is around 5.00 in evening. You can find lot of road side shops for evening snacks.
