Alappuzha
beach
is
one
of
the
major
tourist
spots
in
Alappuzha
town.
Beach
has
an
old
pier
that
extends
to
the
sea,
is
over
150
years
old.
I
was
born
and
raised
near
the
beach.
During
my
childhood,
we
used
to
walk
to
the
beach
to
watch
the
sunset
with
our
family.
We
used
to
spend
time
together
till
10
pm.
The
beach
was
calm
and
beautiful
then.
Roasted
peanuts
and
black
coffee
were
made
at
home
and
taken
to
the
coast.
Eating
them
while
enjoying
the
sunset
and
sea
waves
is
an
amazing
experience.
Those
are
the
unforgettable
memories
that
will
never
happen
again.
Alappuzha
Lighthouse
is
situated
near
the
beach.
Beach
is
accessible
through
various
town
roads,
and
an
elevated
highway
is
passing
by
the
beach
as
part
of
Alappuzha
bypass
in
order
to
preserve
the
beauty
of
the
area.
Camel
safaris
was
another
attraction
in
beach
which
was
introduced
a
couple
of
years
ago,
but
it
got
banned
by
authorities.
Alappuzha
beach
festival
is
a
famous
event
organised
as
part
of
the
New
Year
celebration.
It
is
organized
as
an
annual
event
every
year.
Thousands
of
people
gather
in
the
event,
including
from
other
districts.
Kerala's
first
international
sand
art
festival
and
competition
was
held
on
April
26-2015,
in
Alappuzha
beach.
Many
national
and
international
sand
artists
participated
in
events.
The
state
tourism
department
and
the
Alleppey
Foundation
have
jointly
organised
the
event.
Ample
parking
space
is
available.
