One of the nicest beach in Southern part of Kerala. The beach is small but it's very neat and clean. Parking fee is 25rs for four wheeler. Ample parking space available. There are so many shops for clothing, food and souvenirs. Water sports is also available.

One of the best beaches in India. Picture perfect, clean & lovely. Luckily it was not crowded, the day I visited. Unfortunately I was visiting it on my way to Kanyakumari, so I didn’t had time to swim & enjoy waves here.

Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists since the 1930s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse. The presence of Ilmenite and Monazite that gives the sands here a light shade of black.

A nice place for spending weekend time. We went with family and it was good. Some more neatness and maintenance is required. I think even the public should have the awareness that they have to keep things clean. But the natural scenery is good . My daughter's review: The sunshine was very beautiful. in Kovalam beach πŸ–οΈ I loved many things like sunset, the big rock and lighthouse. We ate one 🍦. We saw some beautiful waves and we wet our legs.

Beautiful Evening Scenario at Kovalam Beach, Kovalam is one of the must-visit places in Kerala that offers you enchanting views of the ocean. Known for temples and sunsets, there are plenty of places to see in Kovalam. ( 30-32 kms away from Trivandram Central ) Kovalam is famous for its beaches, among the most pristine in India. Kovalam is extremely popular among westerners due to shallow waters and low tidal waves. This is one the best beaches in Kerala. Its approx 16 kms from Thriuvanathapuram town. Its good for sea bathing and swimming. Its a crescent shape beach. There were many vendors selling different food items for munching. There are some places where you can get ayurvedic massage. Along the beach their are many hotels and restaurants and they sell awesome sea food at very reasonable price. Photo Uploads : Canon 700D | Hero Gopro

Light house Beach πŸŒŠβ›΅ Although it's a black sand beach but its worth spending time there. It's an destination in itself where you can spend quality personal time as all hotels are on beach. So you can just go outside your room and enjoy beach anytime Hotels are easily available on goibibo booking.com sites at very good rates. There are plenty of restaurants for sea food lovers. For vegetarians though options are less but once can visit ABC cafe, Athithi pure vegetarian which offers good vegetarian varieties.Lighthouse opens at 10 so one can visit that also.Lot of water sports are also available plus the crowd that comes is very fine there .

Beach is maintained clean. And view of the beach is eyes worthy. You can enjoy the beach in your own way. Boating is available here. Jet boats are used for boating. So boating cost is high. But do boating here is worth. And best place for taking sunbath.

A great place visit in holidays to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty. It's relatively a small beach that's where its real beauty lies. (Seriously, I was already tired walking on the sands on Marina beach to reach the shore), A very picturesque location with the majestic sea and gigantic lighthouse adding to the beauty of the tourist place. A must visit place if you are planning a vacation in South India or Kerala, specifically.

Beauty at it's peak. The sunset here was breathtaking. The sand is black here and the beach is very clean. Parking facilities are available. The roadway to the beach is a very big slope. So if you're planning to go by your own vehicle with very few hill driving experience, I would ask you to rethink and park way before the slope and just have a chill walk down the beach. Other than that, this beach is a bliss.

Kovalam beach is one of the cleanest beach in Kerala. It is famous for its light house. We can go to the top of the light house and enjoy the sea view. There will be lift to go up. Beach is so neat and clean. Many foreigners visit this beach. There are many restaurants near this beach. We can enjoy the food with beach view.

The beach is stunning and the lighthouse looks as if it’s been planted on top of the rusty-red rocks purely to look good on holiday photos. The colours are so bright and sharp it could be a child’s drawing. The sea is blue and the waves are ideal for children to play. The sand is fine and has sparkling black grains running through it, the beach slopes away gently giving shallow areas for paddling. Lifeguards keep swimmers under their watchful gaze in the middle of the beach, the surfers take the edges. You can hire body boards and have an hour of fun for 100Rps. At the north end of the beach fishing boats and nets stand on the sand, waiting to be used again.

This is an excellent place to visit with your friends. Perfect for a two day trip just to relax on a sea view resort, fun games like para sailing, scuba diving, surfing and everything. Like you might have heard, this is another mini GoaπŸ˜…. The only thing bothered me is the food, I'm no sea food lover so I had to struggle a bit to find and explore good food.

Always a pleasant experience to be here. This beach is beautiful with a necklace shape formation makes the view ecstatic. There are many resorts nearby and it's cheaper if you go in the off season. This place is also not too crowded so that you can enjoy a slow vacation.

Tiny little beach. I'm surprised why this is an international beach. This beach cannot accommodate a lot of people. Parking place is also small. Only good thing is you can go walking on the sea facing non beach side for a lot of restaurants. Most of the restaurants are very similar though, promising cuisines from freshly caught fish, but they're average. The sea at Kovalam is rough, not recommended for leaving kids unattended. There are lifeguards but one observation is all of them looked like they're in their 60s and a huge pot belly. So not too sure if the "guard" aspect. It is a one time visit and probably the only beach within Trivandrum.

Frankly speaking I had very high expectations when I planned for this beach. Pros: 1- The beach is really beautiful when seen from the top of the light house 2- Its quite clean and serene 3- The light house nearby is really very beautiful and worth every minute of your time. 4- Some very good sea food restaurants along the beach offer very sumptuous food Cons: 1- The beach has black sand which gives a little yucks feeling while bathing 2- The beach is quite small, maybe just half a km end to end. 3- There are no water sports or activities on the beach or at least not during the months of June-Aug when I visited. 4- The sea is very rough and hence swimming is prohibited for over 3-4 months of the year 5- Shopping options along the beach are also very limited 6- I happen to see some yellow froth along coast near the rocks which was not a very pleasant site.

The exotic view of sunset from Kovalam beach ⛱️. the perfect place for the people who loves the beach. Three beaches are adjacent to each other, accordingly the crowd will get distributed and each beach is less crowded.

Visited the beach on a working day hence was lucky to beat the crowds and witnessed a glorious sunset. Having the light house makes the experience extra special as you can see in the video. Lots of fresh fish available in restaurants though a little pricey.

It is an absolute paradise! The pristine blue waters are a sight to behold, and the powdery white sands make it the perfect place for a day of relaxation. It's no wonder that Kovalam Beach is one of India's most popular spots. There's something for everyone here - from sunbathing and swimming to strolling along the beach or hiring a boat to explore the coast. The atmosphere is quite lively and cheery, with local vendors selling all kinds of goods. There’s also plenty of restaurants and seaside cafes to choose from. It is definitely a place to visit if you’re looking for a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. The beauty of the beach and the locals are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The beach is small but beautiful, not very crowded and the restaurants are good on the beach. The light house tower on one side adds to the beauty of the beach. It has rocks on both sides of the beach which looks beautiful. One can enjoy sunset from here. Overall I would recommend a stay at this beach along with family also. This is a nice place for Newly wed couples as well.

One of the best sunset view beaches, the beach is peaceful when there is no crowd. Water rides are a bit pricey. It has no vehicle parking be aware that there is a slant slope to reach the beach be cautious it would be risky while returning with the vehicle. So avoid bringing the vehicle near to the beach.

Blissful retreat by the Arabian sea. My recent visit to this beach left me stunning with the golden sands, black shining sands, clean 🌊 waters, lighthouse and the maintenance. The beaches stretches to shoreline, Lighthouse, and variant shopping streets. Excellent rejuvenating clean waters, water rides, parasailing and surfing, adds excitement to the beach visit. As an adventurous soul, I had an experience of parasailing and it just left me with a fabulous adventure. A gem of natural beauty, the view from top of the lighthouse, water activities and vibrance. Blissful place to relax, adventure, experience a local life and kovalam has it all. Truly must visit destination.

This beach is calm and scenic with waves crashing against the rocks, swaying coconut trees&black sand. There are many Shopping areas,Pocket-friendly cottages,Yoga facilities,Convention Facilities & Health resorts in this Beach complex. It's a clean beach. Sunset looks beautiful from here. There are two sides. To one of the sides, there's lighthouse. You can clean good photos there. There will be considerable crowd on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowd, go on weekdays. There's plenty of space for parking amd they charge minimal amount for it. There will be police all the time who might notice your masks and charge fine accordingly. There are a couple of shops also. The road to the beach is kinda having higher inclination towards down. So new drivers have to be careful. Reduced one star because it kinda felt like a touristy beach. And I like the secluded ones.

Recently lost a large portion of the once sprawling beach to the sea. Visited the place on an evening last time and it was too crowded. The place isn't clean as it used to be earlier. Visit for unwinding by the sea but don't expect a calm and serene atmosphere.

Iconic beach of trivandrum. black sand is found here. sea is very depth, so be careful while entering to water. waves may rise at any time. many deaths happened here due to their negligence of instructions. security is there at all sides. police also there. lots of restaurants, massage parlor are there, check price before you enter. parking space is there. it's a deep slope from main road to beach. bathrooms are there. many adventure activities are there like boating, scuba diving, parachute fly, etc...i don't suggest as a safe and clean beach .just enjoy that's it.

The beach is neat and clean. There aren't any restaurants or food here. Also bus after 6:30 comes really late. You have to wait a long. Instead, there are autos, one can take autos to main rain and from there one can take bus. Autos charge really high but there is no other option. It's better to come in one's own vehicle or come early here.

Kovalam is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches of Kerala. I visited in the evening, but unfortunately due to the rushy sea, walking on the beach was not allowed. You can find some beautiful souvenir shops nearby and the best time to visit is in the evening and early morning. The best is located near to the bypass, to travel to multiple places rending a bike is a better option

Its a nice place to visit a bit far from the crowded city bit can be easily reached by personal vehicle. You can hangout with your friends, take a swim in the sea. Small eateries are avaialble, you can also booze here and have a taste of local fewsh sea water catch like crabs, lobsters, and loads of fishes. But one has to shell a bit from their pockets. There are two parts of this beach, one on the left side has mostly foreign crowd and you can visit the lighthouse. On the other hand the right side, a 5 min walk. Mostly you can see local crowd in this section of the beach

I would have given Kovalam a 5 on 5, but my previous visit to the beach just broke my heart. The shore have been cut off, the sidewalk collapsed, entry restricted at many spot (even to the light house). The restrictions may have been there due to the pandemic, but the place as a whole is destroyed. Anyway giving 3 because it Kovalam, right?

Wow β™₯ Very Cleanest and Beautiful beach. But now a days its very commercial place also. 1. Try to go 4o clock and spend more time. 2. Whole beach restaurants available with bar facilities. 3. Fresh Fish available anytime. Also veg and beef available in all the restaurants but little bit costly. 4. If you want to spend more time with your lovable ones or friends this is a wonderful place for one day. 5. Many Hotel rooms available but I think costly. Review updated on 11th July 2022

Love the place, great place to hangout during the weekends. There are also several shacks on the shore which provides really great and fresh seafood. The beach will often be crowded during the weekends but will remain calm throughout the week days. You can come here and work in peace enjoying the sea breeze and a couple of cold ones. Prices are fair for regulars, but sometimes the businesses may try to charge a premium if they feel like you are new to the place, so be aware of the prices.

A nice but crowded beach, thronged by the tourists from all over the World. Walking anytime on the sand is a pleasure. Noticed that the small street vendors are selling merchandise to the non-Indian tourists at an exorbitant price and the vendors don't like interference by the Indian tourists.

It's one of the best beaches in trivandrum where you can swim , be half naked and party. Recently tourist are getting lowered here might be due to lack of attraction and facilities. Its preferable for small hangout and dating. If the vizhinjam project is launched definitely kovalam will be the main attraction.

Sunset at kovalam beach. Watching the sunset at Kovalam Beach is a breathtaking experience. Kovalam, located in Kerala, India, is renowned for its stunning coastal views and picturesque sunsets. As the sun dips below the Arabian Sea, the sky often transforms into a vibrant palette of oranges, pinks, and purples, casting a mesmerizing glow over the tranquil waters. Visitors to Kovalam Beach often gather along the shoreline, on the promenade, or at nearby cafes and resorts to witness this natural spectacle. The serene atmosphere and the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore make it a perfect setting for a peaceful evening. Kovalam's sunsets are not only a visual delight but also a moment of tranquility and reflection, making it a memorable part of the beach experience for travelers and locals alike.

Was amazing . Love the view, beach, sunset, white sand, shops especially. The hotels were quite cheap. It had even had lots of water sports, we took a lounging bench since it was scorching heat . The sunset here was amazing, there was a point where you climb upon and take pics of the sunset.

One of the cleanest beaches in this area. Good choice of restaurants. Best to visit during late evening or early morning

Fewer encroachment due to Covid has definitely improved the water quality and the beach overall. The lighthouse is still not available to public as on Dec 2020. Hopefully this changes. Overall a better experience than 4 years back. Probably something can be done about the near 70 degree downward approach road, but then again you come here for the view and not the road.

One of the must place to visit in trivandrum with friends /family. There is also new addition of Paragliding at β‚Ή2500.there are also good restaurants nearby. We can easily spend 3-4 hours here. It will be usually crowded at the evening. At the southern end of Lighthouse Beach is a striped lighthouse with a viewing platform

Gives me a lot of memories... After Covid 19, the beach is reopening but also we're losing its beauty. Most of the beach has lost in the sea. When I went last week 11-aug-2021 we couldn't enjoy the beach because of higher waves and less ground. You can see the pictures that I've taken... 😭😭 Our natural beauty is about to πŸ’”

Kovalam is one of the best beaches in Trivandrum and personally my favorite. Beautiful beach and gives relaxed feeling. Lot of shops and restaurants are there. All of which are extremely expensive compared to the price in normal tvm town. You get fresh and delicious sea food. I used to visit this beach often with friends and family. Dont forget to take sun hat and sunscreen lotion as its extremely hot untill evening.

  • 4/5 gibin p. 2 years ago on Google
A good view of the sea as you get from any other beach. Also have a paved path around the beach. Lots of goodies to purchase to keep as a memory. But they are a little expensive. May be due to pandemic station the entries restricted or controlled also to light house

Such a nice looking place and it was great to visit. Sadly it was the wrong time of year so the beach was covered in purple jellyfish....and the beach was roped off due to COVID. Still a nice walk and good food and scenery.

Beautiful beach! One of the cleanest. Just for the beach lovers. Commercial section is separate so as not to pollute the beach with tourist waste. Light house tower is a must for one of a kind view. Long queues struggle is worth the view it offers.

I visited this beach in june 2012. Very famous beach in kerala and all over india. For me this beach is different from tamilnadu beaches, what i saw is the beach sands are very near to the hotels and restaurants, we can say 100 meters near.Very scenic beach with rocks and coconut trees with semi circular shape. Many good hotels and restaurants are available near by. Prawns, fishes are good quality non veg items we can get.Good place to visit with families and friends. Sunrise and sunset dont miss to see. very beautiful. Calm beach.

Must visit place in Kerala. Although it is a Sunset πŸŒ‡ friendly beach, you can come here in the early morning and walk through the beach πŸ– with no crowd noise. It was such an experience to come here in the morning. Breez from the see with shiny sun. But the thing is you will not get any food items or local dishes because all will not be open at that time.

Now this is a must visit place when you are nearby Varkala.. it's an hour drive and you can spend good time with friends and family here. The beach is easily accessible. one of the beautiful and cleanest beach in kerala, plenty of food options and decent parking space.. swimming is not allowed but you can see people and kids play in the water, didn't spot life guard. it's quit humid in the afternoon so best time to visit is evening to enjoy the sunset view and have nice dinner.

This is a tourist attraction and don’t expect the place to be calm. The beach is bustling with tourists in any given day. Buying things from here is relatively expensive. You can probably find the same thing for way less money elsewhere. Try to be hygiene as possible, because there are many people and many waste (sewage) as well. Otherwise it’s a very good place. You get a reasonable variety of adventure sports available here. Prices can be bargained. There’s a rocky patch with many cacti 🌡Good for taking photographs. Please see the images to understand what I’m saying. I’ve also heard that the view from the lighthouse is pretty awesome, although I’ve never been there. But you can give it a try. There are plenty of restaurants where you can buy different varieties of fish and get it cooked. No wonder why this is a tourist attraction.

sea side destination for calm, quiet and marvellous beach. Mainly crowded by local people who are visiting for day trip and weekends. And the foreigners. Beautiful sea and beaches. Light house beach is the best among three other beaches. Good place to spend holidays with families, couples.

As the sun reached its zenith, the serene beach came alive with its immaculate beauty. Until noon, it was a hidden gem, offering a pristine escape from the world, its sandy shores embraced by a gentle sea breeze. However, as the day progressed, the beach transformed into a bustling hub of activity. It became renowned for its crystal-clear waters and unique black sand, attracting visitors from far and wide. If you find yourself in Kerala, this remarkable coastal paradise is an absolute must-visit.

Great Beach, But somebody need to maintain the cleanliness. Also some basic amenities are lacking. There should be facilities for a fresh water shower and dress change. The available paid rest room is filthy. Whoever is in charge should understand that tourist spots are primarily destinations for seeing nature. constructions on site should not block view and should not be intrusive

I visited a few days back. The tides were very strong due to the monsoon effect. So security is not allowed visiters near the sea. Still there were lots of people who came from different states. Also the ambience was nice during the night.

Kovalam beach is a popular tourist destination located in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is situated about 16 kilometers from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram and is known for its picturesque beaches, serene environment, and palm-lined shores. Kovalam beach is actually a cluster of three beaches- Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, and Samudra Beach. Lighthouse Beach is the most popular among the three and is named after the 35-meter tall lighthouse situated on the edge of the beach. Hawah Beach is famous for its calm waters and is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Samudra Beach is relatively quieter and is a favorite among those looking for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Apart from its scenic beauty, Kovalam beach is also known for its Ayurvedic massages and treatments. The beach also offers a range of water sports activities such as surfing, parasailing, and jet skiing, making it a perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts. Overall, Kovalam beach is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Kerala, offering a perfect mix of scenic beauty, relaxation, and adventure.

Just 10Km away from Trivandrum city. One of the most beautiful beaches in this world. A combination of blue sky blue water white surf white sand green vegetation brown rock and a man made wonderful light house. Swimming in the shallow waters and surfing in the lovely tides are favourite for the tourists who visits this place. Once upon a time this place was a lovely seashore village of Kerala however; congested nowadays due to space constraints thus saturated further development.

They say it's the best beach of kerala but nothing as compared to the beaches in goa. It's a small beach with a light house. Evening are crowded with tourists. No shacks on the beach just a lane of restaurants and shops behind the beach. The sand is dark and black in color. Satisfactory experience...nothing amazing about the beach.

Kovalam Beach is a tropical paradise known for its golden sands and clear waters. Visitors rave about the stunning sunsets, vibrant local culture, and diverse water activities. The beach's crescent shape enhances its charm, creating a serene atmosphere. However, some note occasional crowds during peak seasons. Neat and clean beach on the south of Trivandrum. Quite a happening place . There are many small kiosks of tea and snacks on the beach. The bay near the beach has a lot of restaurants and cafes and other shops. The German cafe is quite good with a good sea view seating on the terrace. This beach offers the best sunset I have ever seen. In the morning the fishermen were catching fishes in a large net by the sea. The Arabian sea is so very beautiful to the sight. Don't forget to take ur slippers. There is an adjoining beach also which can be accessed by walking over..Vinzingham beach. You can also see the Lighthouse from the beach.
