This bird sanctuary is actually less underrated and hardly explored. You've to go by boat and they charge 800 which is nominal even if you're alone or in a batch ( they carry up to 4-5 people in one boat) for an up and down trip. You'll be taken along to a small Mangroves island where you get to see some rare species of birds. You can also click good photos there and the ride lasts for maybe an hour. The sight of birds depends on the seasons. Timings are from 8:00 am to 17:00.

A beautiful place which is quite unknown to general public. Boatride through the mangroves and seeing all the migratory birds is an extremely peaceful time. The trips maybe about 2hr round that goes through mangroves, small isles and the edge near the see, which attracts a large percentage of birds. Visit in morning or late evenings for some beautiful lighting if you're into photography. Life jackets are provided,.entry was around 10rs. Boat rates vary according to Pax. Riders are well experienced in names of birds, migration patterns and different depths. A truly great place to spend some time.

You can visit here Between 8 am to 6pm. Before you can visit confirm its hie tide time if it's on low tide time you can't go inside the mangroves frost because of low water levels and in one boat you can accommodate max 12 peoples .and it was around a hour to complete the trip.

Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is a perfect place for bird watchers, tranquility lovers, mangrove lovers and boating enthusiasts. It is a valley that lies between Kozhikode and Malappuram. The workers and locals are good people. Entry fee is Rs 10 and boating is Rs 800 per hour for up to 10 people. It is 18km from Kozhikode city via Farok. Good roads. Best time to visit is morning or evening. It seems that more birds arrive in the evening. There are 8 types of mangroves including mangroves brought from the Amazon (Prantal, Chulli, Cheru Uppatti, Kannam Poti, Pukandal, Nakshatra Mangrove, Big Uppatti, Kuti Mangrove). There are many types of birds including migratory birds which can be seen as luck. Kadalundi also has a railway station. There are the legs of the collapsed bridge, a remnant of the 2001 train disaster that killed nearly 60 people. This is not the place for those who go expecting an amusement park mood. This is one of the best places in Kozhikode to go boating with knowledge-hungry kids. #kadalundi #kadalundi #birdsanctuary

The place is a mangrove reserve. There is a boat service through the Kadalundi river that takes is through the mangrove. The charge is Rs800 for an hour. We were 7 adults and 4 children in one boat. Many birds can be sighted even in off-season. Important to enquire high tide timings to make maximum use of the boat ride. During low tide, water recedes the area and makes it difficult to move around. The bird watching season is September to December, with peak in December. The place is only a few metres from the Kadalundi railway station

This is recognized by kerala government and it is very much safe. It was memorable experience. You can feel the authentic kerala scenic views. They we have one hour ride and two hours ride. Per hour 800 and two hours 1500. We opted for two hours for our boat. Staff is very polite and explained about the islands there. We can not allowed to enter into islands as part of our journey. We could see jumping fishes around the boat. Boat driver explored us different types mangrove forests in our trip. It took exactly two hours to return back to base location. Just amazing experience. Since we were late around 11am it was too hot even in January and birds were not found much . During summer we can't bare the humidity. If you are planning in the summer you must visit at morning hours. Look at the attached pics. Just awesome

Calm and peaceful place. You can take a boat tour to the mangrove. The boat trip is 1 hour long with multiple halts in between for taking pictures and enjoying nature. Run and managed by Kerala forest department. Tickets can be purchased on spot over the counter. No need for pre-booking. If you are a bird lover then the best time to visit is between November to March when migratory birds flock here in large numbers.

You can spend your evening time there. Small shops for tea and snacks available. Calm place If planning to take your vehicle near the beach side - below the bridge, be careful. It's a small road. Hardly one vehicle can go. If another vehicle comes in the opposite side, one of the vehicle's will have to take reverse. Expect few people who is waiting to start a fight ( local people )

I have reached here with my family. About 10 am. Our main goal was to have a boat ride through the mangroves . But unfortunately, it was low tide time. The officials said it would take like 2 hrs for the best ( വേലിയേറ്റം). So we just took some photos of the area and continued our journey. Better you call the local address to make sure the best time for boating.

This thick mangrove forest is a rendezvous of migratory birds and rare avian species can be sighted often. The place is where the Kadalundi river kisses the Arabian Sea. Scenic mangrove islands and beautiful backwater would of course entice eco enthusiast and visitors. This is also a nice place for spending quality fun time with children and family. Boating facility is available at affordable rate. You can hire a boat at Rs 800 per hour. According to officials, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary has over 60 species of migratory birds such as sandpipers, sand plovers, seagulls, terns and turnstones etc. All these special guests coming from across the planet during different seasons of the year. November to April is ideal visiting time.

Good place to enjoy a good ride. Had a pleasant biHave private parking space. One hour boating costs 800/- There are 8 varieties of mangrove forest. You can enjoy based on the tidal changes. During low tides, its hard go through mangroves. Best time is during moderate tides. You can call a day before to arrange the ride and food if required. Can contact and ask for Mr. Sajeev a great personality who will explain everything. He is a good photographer too. Worth the time.

Located right behind kadalundi railway station, this ecotourism place provides nice option to spend time with your family. You can hire boat on hourly basis and they will take you through the river and various mangrove forest in the vicinity. They will also take you to near the bridge where the river and sea meets. During season lots of migratory birds also can be spotted. I was charged Rs 800 for sn hour in a row boat which has a capacity to carry 6-8 people. There is pay and park space available near the spot.

First trip of the year. We were there in the afternoon. The cooperative attitude of the boat owner and those around him was good. This was my first experience of seeing mangroves in person. We could not go through the jungles as it was full of mud. We saw the migratory parrots from a distance. How fun is it to watch the jumping of small fishes?. All this was a positive experience.🥰💞

Sometimes you might have to wait to get enough water so that the boat can move around. Better visit in the season time so you may find migratory birds. Boat was available at 800 rupees, you can opt to share with others (but might need to wait for sometime to get enough number of people)

We could see a bunch of migrating seagulls, and many other varieties of birds during this time of the year. The boat rowing along with the Mangroves will take you to another level of beautiful natural creativity... The boat operator was illustrating the peculiarities of geography, migration of birds etc throughout the journey. It was a great experience.

Really enjoyed the boat ride. Our guide was very friendly and interactive but only spoke Malayalam, so mayyybe get a mallu friend along. They also opened quite late, about aound 8:45am so no point showing up early. The rates are at 800/boat for an hour and 1500/boat for 2 hours with a capacity of 8. (10 maybe)

Very good sightseeing spot. Would definitely recommend this place if you are near Kozhikode area also if you are with a group. The main attraction is the migratory birds ans sea birds which are in the mangrove forest nearby and can only be watched if you go for boating which is also offered here. Very good and friendly staff the only problem is that you have to call them earlier and enquire about whether boating is possible as it can only be done during high tides. It's recommended for a group of 5 or 6 as boating cost 800 for 1 hr which takes you to the mangrove forest where it's a warming feeling for you mind and your eyes.

Notable species are whimbrels and brahminy kites. The sanctuary is well known for a wide variety of fish, mussels and crabs. Some species of snakes, cobras, vipers and kraits also live here.

A great place to visit. Our boat driver was very familiar with the backwaters, narrow canals & many of the birds & flying fish. The Mangroves are amazing and well managed by this organization & the local residents in these backwater communities. Dont miss this opportunity to be wowed by nature at its most basic level. There's tons to see & hear, so don't forget to be quiet while your punter guides you through this journey.
