Awesome experience!! Thought of bathing but the water here is freezing (sub zero) that even the forest officers restricted this. Have to park right at the end of the road and almost a 2km trek to the actual waterfalls and what a sight it is. Have to cross 2 bridges (small). One of the bridges is very old and shaky so be carefull not to jump or overload it. Lots of small fishes also available.

Experience the real nature feel with good climate. You have to walk half an hour via forest to reach the waterfalls. You need to get permission and pass from the check post if you wish to go there. Forest guide will assist you. You can also reach there by Tamilnadu RTC from valparai.

A stunning waterfall located amidst lush greenery and dense forest. Visit this place during monsoon to view the beauty of the waterfall in its full glory. The place where this waterfall is located is the third highest rainfall receiving place in India after Mawsynram and Cherrapunji. This place is also called as Cherrapunji of Tamilnadu. You need to get an entry ticket for Rs. 50 per person at forest checkpost to enter this place. Falls can be accessed by a trek of 600 to 700m from the car park. The path is filled with leeches, so please take precautions. There are no shops or eateries around this spot. Please avoid littering to preserve the beauty of this place.

Best hidden spot at Valparai. Combination of trekking climbing and falls at a single spot. You need to go by walk for 1km to reach the waterfalls . Bath is strictly restricted. The water is completely chill and sweet. You can keep your legs into the river Relax. Hanging bridge also present between the entrance and waterfalls . Perfect place for photoshoot

It's a very small waterfall near Valparai. Neat and clean. There was a bit crowd here when I visited. There is no entry fee. Just 500 meters away from parking.

Remote place, you need to trek a little bit to reach to the falls. The falls as such is not very spectacular, but the whole topography and the 8 km of broken roads that leads to the falls takes us to a forgotten world. There are some plantation workers homes and a very basic and small restaurant that serves homely food. Animal sightings usually after 4pm.You get to see Bisons, elephants and bears.

Good place to visit. Very cold water in falls. Risky travel through the damaged road. Thrilling views in forest.

Visited this waterfalls during February, with friends and the 2 Km walk into the hidden valley was an awesome experience for all of us. The water was less but easy to bath in. But this place is not at for humans, as the Leech species dominant there, attack you easily and drain your blood. Though we all were cautioned by the guide, we all became victim to the Leech attack but we took it so sportively and enjoyed our visit to the hidden treasure. Thanks to the Forest Department, for providing a guide to accompany us. Also, appreciate their efforts in preserving this small but beautiful waterfall. Carry water and edibles but do not litter the place.

If possible, pay a visit during the monsoons in its full form. This place is also known as mini chirapunji and the name defines it. It keeps raining or drizzling most of the time. The only exception might be during the summers. It's very remote and from where the road ends. You need to walk around 500m to see the falls. But that's just not it. The forest officials aren't allowing anyone to go any further ahead from the falls although there are trials ahead. The locals say they used to walk uphill for around 3 km and the scene from there is a different level. Never miss while you are in Valparai.

The place was awesome, we need to walk nearly 500 meters to reach this falls. They won't allow you to bath in falls or the pond.. Only we can see the falls falling and took photographs. One security person will always available there to restrict the people to bath.

This place is no longer allowed for visitors. This has been closed for visitors since 3 years according to the forest officials who are deployed at the entry checkpost. They charge 50/- per person to view the Chinna Kallar Dam which is 4km from the checkpost. Please don't include this place in your itinerary.!!

You need to get permission and pass from forest check post. Currently they are not allowing to waterfalls because of elephants. Chances of sighting animals is very less. You can enjoy the climate.

What an excellent place to visit. India's south "cherrapunji" which is getting the most rainfall in the southern region. Located in the dense forest. Not allowed around the years. Rainy season is not allowed here strictly because of the reserved forest area. You need luck to visit here even though I tried to visit here over 15yrs like Gajini and now only reached here successfully. Worth a place to visit and you feel you are in deepest downside while standing and seeing above the forest.

It's a magnificent waterfall covered on all sides by towering hills and evergreen forests. The area has large boulders and bathing is not allowed. One has to walk about 600 meters to reach the waterfall. The journey itself is quite memorable. Chinna kallar is also home to a large number of colourful butterflies, in particular, the Malabar peacock. One rampant problem during the rainy season is the loamy soft soil on the way to reach the falls. Remember to carry an umbrella and wear nice comfortable keds. There are no hotels here. Local people sell fruits, bhajji and tea. Don't recommend the tea though.

A scenic waterfall located in Valparai. Chill Crystal clear water where we can chill out. Swimming is prohibited but we can stand in water from a safe distance and take pics. Caution on leaches and bees.

We went on 14th Aug 2023 (a day before independence day) so it was almost a extended weekend and most of them taken off and enjoyed Valparai on that day. Have to (easy) trek almost 500 to 600 meters to reach the falls and the climate was very good. Entry is restricted by end of the hanging bridge (not sure, as we went around 4.50pm - closing time). Water flow in the falls was good on that day. Even aged people who able to claim stairs can try to see the falls.

Good place for clicking photos. Very limited places you can take bath. You need to go across the hanging bridge to see the falls, don't miss it. Beware no public toilets available we had tough time finding toilets travelling with kids and elders. There is a small hotel that serves food with fish fry etc. Nothing to complain because you won't find any other option, average food. You need to buy entrance ticket from forest department that covers access to Chinna Kallar and nallamudi view point.

Very beautiful falls blends with nature very well.A huge swimming pool/ Pond like apperance in front tempts us to take bath (but not allowed)is an added beauty. Actually it is not seen from the main road walkable distance only but no sign board . Falls hidden by trees once you go past the trees suddenly the whole falls appears with a scenic beauty. a small river stream near the main road where you can have your own packed lunch . Worth visiting.

Chinna Kallar is reserved forest and dangerous wildlife not recommended to visit without escort. Here is the location water started collecting from upper dense forest and stored in reservoir Chinna Kallar Dam and flows down to Nira Dam which is allowed to visit.

  • 3/5 Sukirtha T. 1 year ago on Google
Actually there is a check post combined for both chinnakallar falls and Nirar dam. The entry fees is about ₹100+ for each person. No one is allowed to visit chinnakalar falls as after Covid they have not cleared roads. You can go visit Nirar dam and enjoy an evening
