Edit: 3 year laters and the mutton pie is still delicious and the service is still super friendly and good. Plus the thickest dom pedros ever. Original: I had the Mutton Pie with rice and veg and my partner had the lamb burger. Both were delicious. Fast and friendly service and beautiful historic building. If you are in Colesberg you should definitely give it a try.

I spent 2 nights in Colesberg and had supper both evenings at Bordeaux and can honestly say that I wish we had a restaurant that serves real country food of this quality in Capetown. The first night I ordered the Venison Pie with Samp and Veg. It was absolutely outstanding. The second night I ordered the curried mutton tripe. This is my favorite meal and they didn't disappoint. I finished off my meal with a peacannut pie and cream which was delicious. Value for money is also excellent. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The added bonus was the lovely fireplace!!

As a restaurant I found it really lovely. The staff were so friendly. Sadly the story found in the menu was in really poor taste. It depicts a terrible form of slavery in a favourable light and that just cannot be accepted. The restaurant has some really good pictures of the old town and still has the original vine that was established there in the eigtheen hundrends. The melktert was ok, but not overly exciting. There is a small play area for kids located at the back and seating is found both inside and outside. Covid protocol was observed although unlike some of the other areas we visited in the Karoo no tempratures were taken and we had to enquire for sanitiser.

Our first stop on our road trip and we had supper at Bordeaux restaurant. We shared the Skaapstertjies which was so juicy and tender. Then the 3 of us had Boontjie-bredie, Chicken pie and Lamb curry. Incredibly tasty and big portions were given. We went to our guest house very full but very content.

We stayed over last night in Colesberg and the food and hospitality were excellent. We will eat here again on our way home

Lovely little spot for a stop over on the road, definitely nicer than a roadhouse. Great selection of drinks and food, in a character house of the old town.

Love the food, you have to stop here, even the accommodation is great for a stay overnight. Real old house with pressed steel sealing.

A must stop in this little town. Meals are always delicious. We make it our go to place when when we pass through on a journey to the Cape.

Lamb Shank - Meat was very tough as if it was cooked in a pressure cooker. I wanted to enjoy a typical tender Karoo Lamb Shank almost falling off the bone. Very disappointing!

Lovely little place I don't eat lamb so can't tell you how their specialty is but the other food is okay... I had a tramazini I did love the homemade sauce that came with it but the muesli meal isn't great as we expected fresh fruit and got canned fruit. The Malva is delicious. I guess if u enjoy lamb this is the place for you and vice versa

Great service, delicious food! They also had a fire place which was welcome when it was so cold!

Great meal during our Colesburg stopover. Cozy atmosphere and Great Karoo hospitality. Felicia made us feel so welcome… she lit a fire for us on a cold Winter’s evening, and was most attentive throughout. Meal was delicious local fare with ample portions.

Blatant daylight robbery with poor service. Waited 2 hours for them to make a bunch of tramazzinis and some french toast. Chips comes seperately, R20 extra. The french toast came without syrup, bacon, salad, jam or cheese. They litteraly served us two slices of egg fried bread for straight for R70. You can litterally buy a sack of bread, a bottle of syrup, and a carton of eggs for R60.... When all was said and done, we paid R150 on average per person for meals that would be R100 anywhere else, after waiting a century

The food and service is excellent. Can not believe it is in the middle of town. There is better secure parking at the back..

Lovely outdoor space. Food (we had breakfast) was basic and felt pricey for what we got. French toast left a lot to be desired. I was impressed with the mocha which is served with cream 😋

Quaint local gem. The outdoor area is particularly cozy with a garden setting with stunning fairy lights in the evenings. Excellent service. Good food. Felt very secure and relaxed.

Been here a couple of times. Decent meals the Lamb chops were good and the steak is quite nice as well. The desserts leave much to be desired. The pecan pie we got seemed like it was warmed up in a microwave based on the texture of the pastry. And also the Melktert is not a Melktert, it left us quite disappointed.

Was okay. In colesberg, you don't have many options, so beggers can't be choosers. We hit it on a Monday afternoon as a halfway stopover and we're the only ones there. The place lacked atmosphere and you could hear the crickets. Food was average and I found the prices above normal. Service however was good.

Lovely food and friendly service. True Karoo hospitality. The town and the restaurant was neet and clean. Will definitely stop there again!
