Disgraceful,
discriminatory
and
very
rude
shopping
centre
management
at
Armada
Arndale.
Instead
of
improving
customer
access
and
amenities,
the
management
of
Armada
Arndale
shopping
centre
decided
to
remove
all
outdoor
benches
and
seating
from
taxi
ranks
and
waiting
areas.
Where
are
customers
supposed
to
seat
now,
whilst
waiting
to
be
picked
up?
This
decision
completely
ignores
the
fact
that
many
people
have
medical
conditions,
age
related
issues
and
other
problems
preventing
them
from
standing
up
for
long
periods
of
time
whilst
waiting
to
be
picked
up
after
their
shopping.
When
contacted
for
an
explanation
of
this
decision,
the
centre
manager
insisted
this
was
done
in
order
"to
prevent
undesirable
people
from
sitting
outside
the
centre".
This
was
done
without
any
consideration
for
elderly
customers
such
as
pensioners
often
waiting
for
very
long
times
at
the
taxi
ranks
and
pick-up
areas.
The
current
management's
response
in
regard
to
this
matter
is
utterly
discriminatory,
rude,
as
well
as
out
of
touch
with
patrons'
opinions
and
wishes,
including
those
of
the
retail
staff,
who
are
now
having
to
explain
to
customers
all
the
time
that
this
farce
decision
is
due
to
centre
management,
not
individual
stores.
Nonetheless,
complaints
are
simply
ignored
by
centre
management.
When
contacted
for
an
explanation,
the
centre
management's
excuse
is
utterly
thoughtless,
insensitive
and
unacceptable
to
pensioners,
the
elderly,
veterans
or
anyone
needing
a
seat
whilst
waiting
to
be
picked
up
with
their
shoppung;
a
big
inconvenience
for
a
very
large
proportion
of
customers.
Indecency
and
tone-deafness
at
its
worst.
To
make
matters
even
more
ridiculous,
management
had
also
reduced
the
seating
capacity
inside
the
centre
and
have
illogically
reduced
the
number
of
rubbish
bins
outdoors
also.
Considering
that
the
centre
employs
full
time
security
guards,
cleaners
and
cctv,
there
is
no
reason
for
the
centre
to
punish
and
disrespect
a
large
proportion
of
(regular)
customers
purely
for
cost
cutting
measures,
under
the
excuse
of
"making
it
harder
for
undesirable
elements
to
hang
around".
These
idiotic
decisions
are
not
what
the
local
customer
base
needs
and
in
fact
it
creates
more
problems
than
it
solves,
with
total
disregard
for
the
well-being,
health
or
comfort
of
customers.
