It's awesome that this one of a kind museum exists. It's a paid museum of $10 which isn't bad. It's a nice sized museum and isn't over crowded like the Smithsonians. A large variety of work from old to current, paintings, photographs, sculpture, etc. A nice representation of women of color, which is great to see. The foyer room is beautiful as well. Highly recommend.

What a delightful museum, dedicated to showcasing the mark of women in the history of art, an often hidden footprint. The layout of the exhibits are simple and striking and the art exhibited is intricate and exquisite. One of the pay-for museums in the area but totally worth a visit.

Beautiful museum! I’ve been here once before and was a little disappointed in the lack of art from women of color but I must say that has changed tremendously. I visited 2 weeks ago with my cousin and we were both happy to see new exhibits by female artist of color. They have a great collection of work right now that everyone can enjoy. The art work is beautiful, meaningful and touching all at the same time. It isn’t free and the tickets sell out fast, so I would definitely recommend buying a ticket before you go. They do have Covid safety precautions in place, so you have to stay 6 ft. apart and wear a mask.

This museum is exceptional! The exhibitions are beautiful and thought provoking. The visit was inspiring and exhilarating. To have this as my first cultural experience after the year we all had (the year of covid-19) was the perfect way to get back to life!

I was fortunate to visit during a wonderful Judy Chicago exhibit (photos not allowed in that section). It's a joy to see women artists celebrated in this beautiful museum! In addition, the permanent collection is wonderful and new exhibits will make return visits interesting.

Absolutely amazing! There is a huge variety of artists and mediums featured. I love, love, love all of the representation and female empowerment throughout the museum. The staff were super funny and nice too. Gorgeous building as a whole. Definitely visit!

AWESOME metal work exhibit - so many beautiful, thought provoking pieces! Totally blown away! Will visit again to further absorb and connect with this exhibit. Such a beautiful museum. Very quit, even on weekends, allowing for a more personal interaction with the art. Easy dial in place cards per piece where you can listen to the artist speak about her art-really enjoyed this. Nice gift shop with a very friendly staff. I ended up having to wait in line for 10 min to get a ticket (prior customer needed a more tedious wrapping/gifting process) and they gave me free access to the museum to make up for my time.

I went to this museum in order to see the Rodarte exhibition, which was fabulous! The staff at the help desk was very friendly. After looking at the exhibit, I decided to visit the gift shop, and possibly purchase a souvenir to commemorate my experience. Unfortunately I encountered a HORRIBLE guy that works in the gift shop, that was rude and disrespectful to the patrons. He was yelling at us that the store was about to close, but in a loud and obnoxious manner. I understand that patrons needed to be made aware that the store was about to close, but there has to be a better way to say it. His customer service was so awful that it almost ruined the nice time that I had looking at the exhibit before I stepped into the gift shop. As a result of his actions, I decided not to purchase anything from the gift shop. I know that I'll probably visit the museum again, but I'm not sure if I'll ever purchase anything from the gift shop because of him.

A beautiful space filled with art created by women through the ages. Ticket price was very reasonable and the experience well worth the money. Be prepared to spend a minimum of 2 to 3 hours appreciating the works. Who knew that Sarah Bernhardt was not only an actress but a talented sculptor! Sonja Clark's collection is a temporary exhibit i believe through the summer.

The NMWA opened in 1987 as the only museum in the world dedicated to women artists. It has now reopened after being closed for major renovations and it's fabulous. Old favorites are joined by works never seen before in a new setting. The current temporary exhibit, The Sky's the Limit, will only be on view until February and is worth a visit. Check for free days and special programs.

This museum makes you stand up and cheer! To see art by women of every stripe in every medium is pure bliss. They practically had to throw us out at closing time. This experiece is one women of every age should have—and men! There is much to be gleaned and a library if you want to get into the nuts and bolts!

We hosted our wedding reception here and It was absolutely gorgeous! The marble was cleaned and looked great with our setup. The facility was well maintained, and security was helpful. We could not think of a better place to have had our special night. The acoustics were even better than we would have thought. Plenty of space to dance as well! Additionally, it is a Unique quiet Museum in DC. Some very interesting art work, all done by women through history.

I've photographed a dozen weddings here over the years, and it's one of my all time favorite venues in Washington DC! the architecture is incredible, and the modern art on the top floor is a fantastic space for cocktail hour and some bonus creative photos. ig @iamthesam

An unexpected gem in DC, likely overlooked because it is not a free museum. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Amazing building! Lavishly decorated inside with exquisite chandeliers and pink marble. There is a quantitative lack of pieces, but that's understandable seeing as there are so few women artists. They have a wonderful exhibit there until February 10, 2019 featuring dresses from Rodarte. As a fashion buff, I am in love.

Really nice museum. The architecture was amazing with the marble staircases and all. The art work was also nice. The photographs were really cool. Especially the one of Lucille Ball.

Was already a must-experience museum before the 2021-2023 renovation and is even moreso now. The permanent collection is vast and the ephemeral shows are always thought provoking and showcase massive talent. Great gift shop is always a plus.

Went here just for Frieda Kahlo. It’s a beautiful space, one of the smaller museums in DC in terms of the collection size with a stronger focus on modern / contemporary art. There’s a free museum day twice a month.

Absolutely beautiful setting and works. The new space is just stunning. The collections are interesting and heart warming. Lots of sculpture and especially large works which I really enjoyed. A great variety of mediums. There is a short movie at the entrance on several of the artists whose work is being shown which I noticed at the end of my visit. Worth watching. The staff are cheerful and helpful. A wonderful way to spend a morning. I will definitely return. I left feeling much better than when I arrived. Highly recommend.

The museum finally reopened after a 2 month renovation, and it is beautiful as always inside. People come dressed to impress for an elegant photoshoot in addition to admiring the art. Upon entering, there's a coat room, ticket booth, and gift shop. I am very impressed with NMWA's commitment to accessibility. People with disabilities and their "personal care attendants" can get tickets for free at all times as can people under 21 years old. DC Residents and seniors get discounts. There is also free admission on the first Sunday and second Wednesday of every month. Free narrow based manual wheelchairs (without pads) are also available to use upon request. There are couches periodically throughout the museum (see pictures), especially near elevators, and in some galleries. The elevator door openings are pretty narrow, so I worry that certain wheelchairs may not fit, especially if they are wider than a standard manual chair. If you are using a wheelchair, you cannot get out at M, but would instead use MR. You can learn about the artists on the first floor via video or reading the bio plaques if you walk straight after stopping at the ticket booth. The art was incredible and took about 2 hours to appreciate at a leisurely pace. The Sky is the Limit was so different than anything I had seen in an art exhibit before and I really enjoyed seeing the pieces from all different perspectives. I can't wait for new exhibits to come out!

On 11/14 around 12pm I popped in for first time since they have re opened. And I was worried about parking my scooter next to a pole that is safe and no one would take my scooter. I was so surprised that I met the nicest. Humble. Kind. Generous security ladies , Shannon and Tina , who re assured me and even said they would check on it while I’m inside the musuem browsing. The way they spoke to me the words the calmness in their voice made me feel so safe and calm and people need to be more like How these two ladies talk. There is a magic in their voice that makes the other person relaxed . And the rest of staff inside made my experience wonderful but I have to give credit to my first impression and it was by Shannon and Tina that made my rest of visit in museum wonderful because it had a wonderful beginning and it’s thanks to these two.

What a gem! Skip the lines at the Smithsonian and spend a few hours at this gorgeous museum. Come for the art, stay for the delicious irony that a former Masonic temple - where women were forbidden - is now home to THE women's art museum!

This is an AMAZING museum! It costs $10 for an adult to get in, but that is well worth it! There are 5 floors of women artists from at early as the 1500s a the way to present day. The space that all of these works are located in is lovely. I just can't say enough about this place. WELL WORTH THE COST OF ADMISSION!

Absolutely loved my visit to this museum. There were very few people there, I hope that changes. The people working there were so nice and talked to us about the art. The bathrooms were clean. The size of the museum was good because you didn't feel overwhelmed, you easily could take your time and appreciate all the work.

I really enjoyed visiting this museum. It's small enough to see in about 1-1.5, depending on your pace. Make sure to take elevator, otherwise you might miss Floor#4, which had some amazing art. This museum has great installations as well as some paintings. I loved how this museum recognizes women artists for a change 😊
