This used to be one of my fav Latino spots in NW but....lately its really "hit or miss" more miss. This morning I ordered a traditional Dominican breakfast: Mangu con queso frito, cebolla roja y chivo. Translation: mashed plantain, fried Caribbean cheese, red onions and goat. The mangu was not all the way mashed, the goat tasted really bland and like it was going bad, the fried cheese was HORRIBLE it tasted STALE AND LEFT A HORROBLE AFTER TASTE. Get. It. Together. Nobody wants to pick up food, pay good $ AND bring it home only to be VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISSAPOINTED. 😡.

Went to DC for business. I did some research for places to eat and added this one to the list. The server was very friendly and patient. The prices were fair. Now for the food. Order a mofongo with fried chicken. Had to wait 10 minutes for it to be made. Completely normal and expected for a good soft, fresh mofongo. The mofongo was dry and not mashed completely, garlic pieces were too big and abrasive. Hands down the worst modongo I have ever had. Just look at the photo. The chicken was cut in a way that has a lot of small bones not pleasant to eat at all. God forbid you swallow one of those tiny bone pieces. Very disappointing as I know Dominicans are masters of mofongo making. The food on display was very appealing, should had gone with that option.

The Dominican food is excellent; however I've had some challenges with the servers. My coworker who is Dominican turned me on to the spot. I've always frequented the restaurant with him because he can speak Spanish fluently, I don't speak the language. I went into the location twice without him and both times, I felt disregarded as a customer and slightly disrespected! Today, I went in and was completely neglected while the head server packed 4 to go orders in my face, (as if no one was there waiting!). I asked, hey can someone take my order only to be told wait a minute! A minute literally turned into 15 plus minutes before my order was taken. Completely unacceptable and bias towards BLACK women! Food is good, but I will go elsewhere from this day forward!

There are only 2 things that are consistent about Los Hermanos: The place will be filthy and you will be treated like trash. Other than that, nothing is ever the same. I go here about once a month. Sometimes I get a huge serving of meats/veggies for $13. Sometimes they barely fill the container and charge me $22. Sometimes the food is fresh. Sometimes the meat is dry and the rice (rice!) has oil pooling on top. Today for lunch I got a plate of rice, veggies, and quarter chicken. Not a ton of food. Cash register read $15 (already too much). I handed the cashier $20. Then he pressed a button and the total was $22.40 and said that it wasn't enough. I asked why it was so much. No answer. I asked again. He looked out the window ignoring me. So now he has my food and my money. I gave him the extra $3 and left. IF you decide to eat here, ORDER ONLINE. Don't expect the food to be ready when you get there (it won't), but at least its harder for them to take advantage of you.

I have NEVER eaten somewhere and said "this almost tastes exactly like my mom's food." This is the first place to do so. I'm not reviewing the customer service or anything else like others talk about in the google reviews. I am solely talking about the food. With that said, you need to try this place. The portions are large and the food is delicious. Every bit of the dish compliments the other parts of the dish (the meat and the plantains, the rice and the meat, etc.). It is affordable and I 100% will return whenever I'm in the area.

Three of us found our way here after a few other options fell through. The food was very good and service was also very good. Not the cleanest seating area, but the general vibe in the place was nice. I will visit again when we're are in this part of town.

Giving this review based on my opinion of the food and less so my experience at the actual brick and mortar location. Because that’s what I think is fair. When I was thinking of what I wanted for a quick dinner after work, this was not really on my radar. But I wasn’t really in the mood to give my money away to one of the big chains in CH Plaza which I knew would serve me some predictably below average grub. Having tried a few places on this block, I had pretty high expectations given a lot of the reviews. Let me just say that when I first walked in here, I had no idea what I wanted. It did not help that they didn’t have menu up explaining what they were serving. I also didn’t know the price, which turned out to be a bit more than I expected but still pretty reasonable ($17.90 for a plate and a soda) And given the quality of the food and flavors, totally worth it. So just be prepared to point and ask questions (in Spanish if possible) if you’re new like me. This is the main reason for 4 and not 5 stars. As a new customer, this place wasn’t super approachable, maybe that’s the intention I’m not sure. But I’ll keep coming back. Sorry to rant but now onto the food. I opted for the yellow rice with peas, sweet plantains, and ended up with a combination of stewed beef and pulled pork. Having smoked pork shoulder and brisket for hours in the past, I know the care and dedication that goes into making meat fall off the bone like that. It’s not an easy feat at all. If the meat you choose comes with the juices/sauce it was cooked in, please ask for extra sauce cause it’ll rock your world.

This was my place for lunch break when I worked around the corner. Always treated good, always had a full plate. The twins (Believe they own the place) are helpful, nice and have great customer service. They use to have a girl that was a server named Jessie she was my fav but I've never once had a problem with the service or the food.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This place is very busy even on a Sunday. The food looks better and smells better than it tastes. The meat is very dry no matter which type of meat you get with the exception of the stewed beef which is better but only by so much. This probably is the worst Dominican food I have ever tasted. I drove over an hour to get here and parking in the area is terrible unless you pay to park in a parking lot. I would not waste my time or money on this place. I spent $87 and this was a complete waste of my time and money. If the people in this area had tasted some of the Dominican restaurants in New York or New Jersey they would never want to eat from this place again. Anyway I can’t give this place more than one star and they don’t speak very good English either. So language is not only a barrier but because I was ordering several plates they served several other people who came in after me first and I had to wait well over 40 minutes for my food to be plated and prepared for takeout. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Went here last Sunday after a recommendation from a friend who loves Dominican food and man am I glad we did! My partner and I split the chicharron and mofongo dish and a guanabana drink. Absolutely delicious. The chicharron was finished to order instead of sitting around in the buffet (another option we considered). Perfectly crispy outside, meltingly tender fat and meat. Mofongo texture was excellent and the taste was garlicky without being too much. I strongly recommend splitting the dish unless you are BEAST because it is a LOT. I definitely would have regretted eating the entire thing myself. The guanabana drink was the perfect compliment to the rich food. Looking forward to coming back and checking out the other options.

The food was really good. It tasted like your mum cooked it at her kitchen. For those who need to eat quickly this is a good option, since everything is served like buffet style

I had an absolutely amazing time here. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. I usually don't like plantains but these were delicious. The steak and beef was perfectly tender and not over seasoned. Everything was very clean and tidy. They have a nice spread of soft drinks as well. I will definitely be back.

By far the best food if you're feeling home sick and want a typical Dominican dish. Desserts good too.

I wasn't sure what to order at first but the lady serving me was very helpful. The spaghetti and pork chops were so good. I also had veggies and they were so soft and tender. I loved everything I had on my plate. I would def visit again.

So much food, share if you can ! Great flavor, a little more salty than I like so I took mine from the juices. Steamed veggies were cooked just right.

Best Dominican 🇩🇴 food! The arroz con guandules were so flavorful. Can't wait to come back and try more food.

Amazing food, great price, and do your homework before showing up. Stopped by for dinner to go on a Tuesday night around 7, I think just when they are about to pack up and close. Did some homework before arriving- checked out the online menu and read some recommendations on google. The menu online was pretty straight forward, you pick your rice, pick a side, and then pick your protein. Because we arrived close to closing time, the selection was limited and perhaps make it easier to choose. We picked chicken, beef, and one of three pork options that was available. The portions were very generous, they patiently answered our questions, and we enjoyed everything on our plate. Yes, get some extra gravy for rice because they are gold. Look forward to return and try different protein options!

The Dominican/Cuban food in DC. I am Cuban and this is my go-to place for home food. It is not a fancy place and their dishes may seem simple but it is 100% authentic. If you really want to eat like a Dominican/Cuban get a malta.
